Mx Embedding Video
Sorry to ask this if others have but can I embed video into a MX project without the need of the MX commmunication server . I.e. just play from a web site.
Does it have to be a proprietary Macromedia video format? Any reason why they chose this rather than sticking to the established web formats?
Cheers
David
Embedding Video
can someone point me in the direction of how to embed video into a website like in www.fullsail.com? I love the way that video works of that guy giving an intro to how the site works. Any push in a direction where I can learn how to do that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Embedding Video Within An SWF...
Hi all,
I'm trying to embed a video within an SWF, but I want to break it apart, so I can edit each frame (as though it were a graphic).
Can anyone tell me how I can do that?
Cheers.
[F8] Embedding Video
So sorry mods, I have mistakenly posted the same thread in the wrong section. Terribly sorry!
Hi!
I've embedded a video via the timeline, and have created a 'skip' button to obviously skip the video. The code I used on the button is:
on (release) {
gotoAndStop(200) //there is no video footage on this frame!
}
It works fine when executing the file!
BUT! on the same scene, I have added a preloader before the video begins, when running the bandwidth profiler (on low speeds), whilst the page is loading, I click on the skip button and instead of skipping to the frame I want it to go, it would would stop on the frame of the current downloaded and will stop there. In other words, if I repeatedly clicked on the Skip Button whilst running the bandwidth profiler, I will see the video in regards to the percentage it has downloaded:
E.g. clicked at 1% - towards the beginning of the video
clicked at 50% - half way through the video
Hopefully that explained it....Anyway, is there a way to write a code for the button to state that on (release): move to the specific frame (or even scene), and stop the current download of the video?
Thanks.
PS: If someone could work this out, your're amazing.

What Is The MOST Effective Way Of Embedding Video?
I am trying to post a demo reel on my site,
whats the most effective method which uses the smallest filesizes for maximum quality?
WMV seem to be the best for me but I would like the movies embedded, or is it just better to go external URL?
FLV seem to be cranky at the best of times, or is there a tutorial out there that is the definitive way.

Video Not Embedding - Studio 8
Dear All
I have used FLVPlayback component to create a video using one of the standard skins. It all works fine - at least the swf does (and the exported html too)
When I try and embed it into a web page using DW8 it goes wrong.
I have a scripts folder with the automatically generated AC_... file. If I put the flv, and the two swfs (one for my file and SteefExternalAll.swf) into the top level all is well.
However, I feel this is messy and want another folder - called "flash" into which I want to put all flash files. If I then use the insert media:flash button I find that it doesn't work.
I suspect a pointing error - but can't trace it. I have gone through the html and made sure that we have flash/player1.swf rather than just player1.swf.
What is odd is that I can't seem to pick up the SteelExternalAll.swf file - which should be under the video window. I get the first frame of the video and nothing more.
Also, when I press the play button in the DW8 properties bar the whole gray flash box just disappears. Somehting wrong there!
Anybody got any ideas?
Thanks
Edward

Problems Embedding Video
I'm having problems embedding video into MX.
I'm using File >> Import >> to Library >> select my wmv file and using the wizard import the whole of my video.
When I drag the video onto the stage, I don't get the message about expanding the timeline to fit the video. The video just places itself onto the frame and is only one frame long. I know the video is about 30 seconds long with 24fps.
Have a got a setting wrong somewhere...
Many Thanks

[CS3] Embedding Video In Flash
I want to embed a short video into Flash so I can stop the video at the end and have a text link appear over the image.
Can someone give me a quick tutorial on this? I'm very new to Flash, but this doesn't seem like it should be very complicated. I found one tutorial that said to convert the movie to a symbol, but I don't understand why this is necessary.
Also, how do you make a text link appear over a certain frame of the video?
Thanks in advance!
Embedding A Youtube Video

Quick question, is it possible to embed a youtube video into a flash movie? I know it's really simple to do this in html, but what about Flash?

Embedding Video In Flash 5
I want to get information on how to embed a Quicktime/.AVI into Flash 5.
In all cases, do you just convert the file to an image sequence and drag it onto the stage as a Movie Clip?
Or are there any other ways to do this?
Basically I just wanted to get all of the options and how to do them.
Video Import/Embedding
Hi there,
I have a problem with embedding a 4 second video clip of about 400kb in a flash file.
My imported video clip doesn´t have any defect, but the exported swf-file shows short, flashing, irregular horiozontal distortions, but only from time to time and never at the same moment - what makes me guess that it is a synchronsation problem while playing. Sometimes I can see a loop without any defects somtimes there are like 5 or more clearly visible distortions...
I have embedded the video directly in the timeline, the frame rate of the flash file is 25 and so is also the framerate of my video clip. The video clip is exported from after effects and I have tried to embedd different video formats: .avi, .mov and .3gp.
has anybody experienced this problem before and can help me with this?
Embedding A Flash Video?
I have a simple question. I am trying to embed a flash video in my HTML
page and I used Flash 8 to import the video with the wizard and it created
my .mov file to a .flv file and it also created a .swf file of the movie as
well. I selected to use one of the default movie player skins in the wizard
so it also exported a .swf file for the skin as well. I'm wondering now how
I embed it in my HTML using Dreamweaver 8 or basically what is the HTML code
I need to insert to get it to embed the video. I got it to embed alright in
Dreamweaver but it just has a black empty space where the skin is supposed
to be...

Embedding Video In Flash 8

Embedding Video, Dynamically
I want to import video file names from an XML document, and then play the corresponding videos in Flash--but I don't want to restrict my "video player" to playing only FLV files. Anyone know what the AS command that I need is (or if it's even achievable)? attachVideo didn't seem to yield any results for me.
Thank you!
Embedding Video Errors, Please Help
I'm trying to import a quicktime movie, it's about 300 MB in size and will import fine to the library, but when i try to place it on stage i get an error:

Is this a problem with this one file, as i have imported other quicktime movies fine
Embedding Video In An Embeded SWF
Hello people. I'm building a site with a flip book component. The book is a movie and then I load the pages via an XML file. The pages are SWF files. You can see the book at http://www.thiez.com/evf/main.htm
Now, If I add a video on a particular page by embedding it in the flash movie, I will be able to see it when I test that particular page, but it wont show when I test the whole book. So basically, my problem is: the video shows ok in the file where it is embedded but not in the main SWF file that calls the SWF file containing the video. Any idea will be appreciated.
Embedding Video From An Outside Source

Embedding Video In MX Pro (which Format)
HI
i'm wirking on a project and want to use a lot of embedded video
normally i use mpg or mpeg or mov video files
but this project is dirrerent because i used a "bluescreen"
which means that my background i white (no background)
this means that .mov dont work because the background in the .mov
becomes light grey (#CCCCCC - 18%) instead of clear white
also tried mp4 but the sound dont seen to work when imported.
so it looks like i'm stuck on Mpeg, Mpg or wma formats ?
WHAT WOULD GET ME THE BEST RESULTS CONSIDERING
I USE A WHITE BACKGROUND IN THE VIDEO AND WHTE BACKGROUND IN FLASH MX pro
i need help please
(BTW:i dont want to link externally OR use Flv because i need to "sync"
the video i flash wiht a lot of (vector) Animation (so that would'nt work)
Embedding Video With Sound
Ok,
I have Flash 8. If I embed the video I have into the file it strips away the audio. So I found a tutorial that showed me how to use:
ActionScript Code:
var nc:NetConnection = new NetConnection();
nc.connect(null);
var ns:NetStream = new NetStream(nc);
theVideo.attachVideo(ns);
ns.play("sagemaven_instruct.flv");
_root.stop();
But I cannot get it to work. Is it possible that there is another way (perhaps more simple) to place this video on the file?
Thanks
Embedding A Youtube Video And Getting Info From It...
i haven't posted anything on these forums for years so hopefully they're still as amazing as they used to be... i also haven't used Flash much since then either, so going from Flash5 to CS3 with AS3.0 is a bit of a leap. but i've watched the lynda.com videos and think i can do this. the good thing is that its just a little fun thing im doing for myself my spare time so if i realize the transition is harder than i thought, its not a big deal. in fact if its going to be A LOT harder than i thought, i might have to move this post to the freelance forum
ok, so the first stage of my project (in my mind) flows as follows:
main movie loads, there is an input box, user pastes youtube.com url into it and clicks a submit button.
from that youtube url, main movie determines the embed link provided by youtube (not sure if this requires tying into the youtube API) and displays the youtube movie and its native playback controls on the stage. main movie also determines the length of the youtube movie and stores it for later use.
at that point the user is free to watch/interact with the movie just like any other youtube video they would watch.
so my questions to you...
based on the youtube url, is there a way to capture the swf embed link they provide so i can then load their swf into mine?
from their player, is it possible to determine the length of the .flv it is playing? and possibly 'track' what time the playhead is at? (this is part of the second stage of my project)
based on what ive told you, can you give this a difficulty rating on a 1-10 scale, 1 being easy, 10 being "dont bother, just pay to have someone who knows what they're doing do it"
also, if i do decide to pay for help, what would you consider a fair price for something like this... flat fee, half up front, half on completion, hourly, etc?
thanks everyone!

[F8] Embedding Streaming Video Into Flash
I'm making a video desktop background for my school computer.
The video I want to use is located at: http://cdn1.ustream.tv/swf/4/viewer.45.swf
I have access to flash 8 pro. I'm not sure, but the video stream might be for flash 10. Embedding video through file -> import video failed.
Any ideas how to fix this without changing to CS3 version?

Embedding Video Frame Edition
Is there any way of cutting the frames in the middle/beginning of an embedded video?
Per example, if the video has 400 frames and I want to take out frames 50 to 100. I Select and delete them but then what happens is that the video now has lost frames 350 to 400. Because flash always take them out starting from the end, no matter what is selected.

Embedding Flash Video - Help Needed
I'm fairly new to Flash and trying to embed a video to my website. When I import my video and test the movie, it works perfectly, showing the controls at the bottom and everything. When I add it to Dreamweaver and test the page, it only shows the video (sans media controls) and automatically plays when the page is loaded. What am I doing wrong??
I'd like to upload the flash video w/media controls beneath it, to dreamweaver and it remain paused until the viewer hits the play button.
Can anyone help?
Embedding Video From Adobe Premiere
hi - i want to incorporate some video into a flash presentation for a CD, but i'm getting confused somewhere, any tips would be hugely appreciated!
the video was initially a huge file (180 Mb), so colleague has compressed it in adobe Premiere and exported it as a WMV file which is now 23 Mb. when i imported this file into the library of my .fla (i'm using MX 2004) it seemed to take ages, so i looked at the 'properties', and the file size had increased to 60 Mb...
is that normal (!) or is there something i forgot to do? or, is there something incompatible between Premiere and Flash which affects the compression??
(nb is embedding the video actually the best way to go? the only reason i did it was because i was playing with a tutorial which loaded video into a flash-based 'video player'..)
thanks in anticipation..
Embedding Video Sound Issues?
I'm putting together a kiosk which includes video. I have several movies (which include sound) as FLV's which I need to embed to sit in the kiosk, the problem is that when I embed a FLV and export it the sound has a 3-4 sec lag. Each movie is roughly 30seconds long, and I need all the audio.
Is there a way to synch movie with sound?
Flash Video: Embedding The Control Bar
I'm putting a trailer on a webpage, and I've imported and created an flv file and it plays good and all that stuff. But what's annoying is that I seem to have to keep the skin file (SteelExternalPlaySeekMute.swf) for the control buttons in the same directory as the .html file.
That's not really convenient, is there away to just embed that control within the swf? It's already sorta cumbersome that I have an .swf and a .flv file I have to make sure are in place, I'd rather not have an additional one.
Any tips?

Cross Browser Video Embedding...
These days when you open up dw, it tries to put in the run active content js files and put the object tag inside a noscript tag. Even with that, I seemed to be having problems with some versions of IE playing youtube videos.
I found this method online, without the embed tag. It seems to be working. I just want to get some feedback on the methodology here, and make sure this method will work in all versions of internet exploder.
Instead of the default youtube code ( with embed tag ), this is what was suggested:
Code:
<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" style="width:425px; height:350px;"
data="http://www.youtube.com/cp/...">
<param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/cp/..." />
<param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param>
</object>
Edit: now I realize that this causes the ugly box problem, so I am going to read up on that.
Embedding Custom Video/flv Player
Hello,
I run a site where we upload videos directly to our server instead of embedding via youtube, metacafe etc.
I want to take the default looking player we have here: regretfulmorning.com/2008/11/parasailer-perfects-dodo-bird-landing
and customize it, also allowing users to embed it in their blogs, myspace, facebook etc like here:
cracked.com/video_16759_japan-fights-economic-crisis-with-real-life-lolcat.html (sorry cant post links yet)
Does anyone know of a good place to start?

[F8] Helping Embedding A Flash Video In My Website
Ok I have been doing my own research on this and looking everywhere and I am completely stumped so please help me out!
I read the sticky here about swfobject so I am trying to use that. I have uploaded the swfobject.js file to my servers same directory as i host the videos. I am using this code:
<script type="text/javascript" src="swfobject.js"></script>
<div id="flashcontent">
[QBsneak.swf]
</div>
<script type="text/javascript">
var so = new SWFObject("QBsneak.swf", "mymovie", "400", "200", "6", "#336699");
so.addParam("quality", "low");
so.addParam("wmode", "transparent");
so.addParam("menu", "flase");
so.write("flashcontent");
</script>
Nothing works. I have tried to place the full URL of my video and that does not work. All I get are the words QBsneak.swf
I have also tried this code:
<object width="250" height="400"
classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000"
codebase="http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/
shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=8,0,0,0">
<param name="movie" value="mp3player.swf" />
<param name="bgcolor" value="#ff0000" />
<param name="menu" value="false" />
<param name="quality" value="low" />
<embed src="mp3player.swf" width="250" height="400"
bgcolor="#ff0000" menu="false" quality="low"
type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage=
"http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" />
</object>
I simply replace the "mp3player.swf" with the location of my file. This time, I get a big white box where the video should be.
Any help? I really am at my wits end here, I have been trying to get this figured out for weeks now. Please help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Embedding A Flash Video Player/SWFobject
Hi,
I am trying to embed a flash video player swf in my page using the swfObject and I cannot get it to work. I have the video player file loading the flv video from an external folder on the server as well. Here is my code..
<script type="text/javascript">
<!--//--><![CDATA[//><!--
var so = new SWFObject("video_makegravy.swf", "Gravy", "333", "333", "7", "#777");
so.write("Gravy");
//--><!]]>
</script>
what am I leaving out? Do I also need to tell it to load the video into the flash video player file, or will flash handle that once I am able to load the playing file through the SWFobject?
thanks,
Mike
Embedding A Video File And Breaking Into Keyframes
I have an mpg video I want to embed into flash and then break it into a series of bitmap keyframes....then tweak and edit each frame to create a small loop. THe problem I am having is breaking the video into a series of keyframes...I thought I had done it long ago....it comes in as 1 keyframe that stretches the length of the video...then I go to modify and try to create keyframes....it generates lots of keyframes that all contain the first frame ...anyone know how to break the video into bitmap keyframes?
Embedding Video - Interactive Television Prototype
Hiya
I'm creating a prototype of an interactive TV application.
The flash file that I'm working on has 10 + scenes. Is there a way to embed a quicktime (or avi) movie into the flash file WITHOUT having the video start from frame one each time the scene changes?
Basiclly, I want the user to be able to watch the video uninterruped as he/she
navigates through the application. Additionally, I want the user to be able to minimize & maximize the screen.
What would be the best way to handle this?
Thanks,
Angela

Embedding Video Or Linking To External QT Files?
I would like to create a .FLA that will display video from my portfolio.
There are 3 videos that I would like to present, the sizes of the H.264
Quicktimes are 22.8 MB, 17.1 MB and 4.1 MB.
Should these videos be imported into the .FLA or should they be external
QT files that are linked to from the .SWF? What would work better?
Thanks.
Embedding Local Video In A Flash File Using ActionScript 3.0?
I have a .fla flash file. I need to embed video (.flv file ) using ActionScripts 3.0 in this file. The flash file, originally attaches a lot of images(.jpg), voice files (.mp3) and text files (.swf) .Now I want to replace the pictures, text and audio with a single .flv video. The video like the pictures, text files, etc is going to be located in the same local folder as the .fla file . Also on the previous screen when I click on say continue, it will come to next slide, where the video should start playing on its own.
The code used for the image or text is like this.
sceneImage = "img/abstract/1-1.jpg";
textType="txt/abstract/T_1_1.swf";
Now I want a similar code for attaching the .flv video. Please can you provide code like above.
Thanks
Very Basic Question: Flash Media Server Vs. Embedding Flash Video
I'm hoping this is a quick easy question to answer:
What is the difference between Flash Media Server and simply using a freeware Flash media player (like Flowplayer http://flowplayer.org/) that uses XML playlists to embed your Flash videos on a website?
What are the advantages to Flash Media Server and how does something like Flowplayer not address issues that FMS can?
Thanks in advance!
