Hi,

I have posted this problem in the action script section also in this forum, but due to lack of replies, i am writing in this section also.. please excuse me.

I have a C program (and and exe file for that ) which takes some input and displays some numbers as output on the screen.

I need the results of this exe file in a flash program.

How to run this program from inside flash file and give it some arguments as input and how to get the output of that exe file into a textbox in the flash file?

Call Back Functions With Arguments Array
hi there,
i have a class set up, i have a lot of fucntions in it, and i would like to use a call back functions to call all these fucntions.
this is fine, however i will be using an unexpected amount of parameters,
now i know i can deal with this using the arguments array but i dont know how i would go about doing this.

so what i am asking, is: for a example and an explanation of how the arguments array works. please.

Getting Results Back In Same Browser Window
I have created a flash form which works but when the results come back, another IE browser window is opened and the results are displayed in that.

How do I get results displayed back into the same browser window

PHP Date Back To MySql (funny Results)
I have a record Insert Page, php date field
When I save and retrive the date it is not as I entered .

What do I need to do to send a date/time back to MySql in a valid format ?
Or a tutorial which can send me on the right path please!.

I have found the "display" formatting Date and ststotime, but could not find a send to MySql format example, if I input 07/07/2004 in the text box bound to field "date_submitted" , I get a strange date returned.

I could not find a "search" for in this forum.
I know this is a flash forum and I am working this part in dreamweaver!
But it is worth a try!

Executing An Exe File
I am developing a CD buisness card and I have several files that must be able to be installed from the CD if chosen. I know how to execute a exe if the drive is static, however the drive will not always be the same. Is there a way to write a script that will read what drive the CD ROM is and use that as a variable in the code?

The code is:
on (release) {
fscommand ("exec", "e:\install.exe");
}

I am creating a presentation in flash, and I would like it to open a power point presentation (I guess in a new window) I am creating a projector file, so how would I go about doing this?

when i do this it doesnt seem to work
is it because setup files are different to normal exe file?

I want to know if it is possible to execute an external .exe file from a flash button. Just like you do it when you're going to execute a .pdf or a .doc file.

If it is possible, can you help me with the script? My flash version is 8.

I know I can execute .exe files from within a flash projector (from a cdrom say) but the same command doesnt work for .msi files.

Is it possible to get flash to run these files?

Executing A .htm File From A CD Question
Thanks for the reply on my previous post about executing .exe files using the fscommand line. It works great. The second part of my question is not working so great. I am trying to execute an .htm file that is on a CD. I would like to not have to designate a drive name due to people having different CD-ROM drive names. I am doing this so the application could be shown without an internet connection. The fscommand does not work and get URL works only if you designate a drive name. Example: If I enter N:/helpfile.htm it works fine, but I want to enter helpfile.htm and read it directly from the CD-ROM regardless of the letter designated to that users CD-ROM drive. Is This possible?

hi..

i am making a presentation for the dolphin research institute and without going into any detail, basically what i really need to find, is how to execute a powerpoints show (.pps file) from inside a flash movie. im sure this is possible?!?

i found this command in an old post :
fscommand (exec, "filename.pps")

but i tried this and had no luck, can anyone help me please?? the presentation needs to be shown this sunday and the flash and powerpoint components are made i just need to fit them together.. your help would be greatly appreciated(its for a worthy cause too) :)

I am using Flash MX to develop a small application and need to save the results into a database. I am using the actionscript Actions>Browser/Network>loadVariablesNum:

Executing A Projector File From Within Flash.
I have been looking online all night to find information about launching an executable projector file. So far I've had no luck. I need to execute it once a user has clicked a particular button from within the .swf Can anyone please help me out. This is possible isn't it?

Hi, can I call a file with arguments using the flash fscommand "exec"

for example:

And how this can be done? Because it is not working the way it is written!!

i have a button that's calling a batch file like this:

fscommand ("exec", "setup.bat");
}

everything works fine, but the developer wants me to add the arguments:

"cmd /q /c setup.bat"

i'm sure this is possible, but i'm a novice when it comes to actionscript.

Can A Swf File Begin Executing Code Before Loading Completely?
I have a swf file with a preloader on the stage at authoring time. The preloader centers itself by retrieving the stage dimensions and calculating the coordinates it needs.

This works everytime in Flash preview, but once I put it online it only works sometimes, mostly after I refresh the page. The stage width and height it seems, are considered = 0 when this happens and so my preloader doesn't position itself correctly.

The only reason I can determine for this error is that when the code begins to execute the swf is not fully loaded, and thus it gets wrong stage dimensions. I have exported the swf file to have 100% width and heigth, don't know if there are known issues with this mode of publishing.

Any help on this matter is appreciated, thanks in advance.

Pass In Arguments To SWF File And Return A Number?
If I had a flash movie that on frame 1 have this code :

and I loaded the swf file by doing something like this :

is there any way I could get flash to return the answer to the calling program?

In the end, I want to see if it's possible to run it from the command line.... (maybe after converting the swf file to and exe file). For example :

I'm guessing this isn't posible.... if it's not, is there some other way I could do this?

How would you pass a variable to a swf file that is embedded in html? Would something like "movie.swf?firstVar=2" work? And if so, how would I read this variable in actionscript 3?

Post Results To A Text File
First of all. I am new to actionscript.
I am developing a quiz game and would like to post the results to a text file on the local computer. Would appreciate any help.

Two Servers, One Flash File, Two Different Results
I made a site for a client, and I uploaded it onto our servers. It tested fine and there were no issues. However, I then uploaded it to his server so that it could be at the correct address, and on one of the pages the text began to display differently. It's wierd.

Okay, so here are the two sites
correct site
incorrect site

If you go here and click on the locations page, there are three different buttons, each for cities in or around oregon. When you click on it, it loads a txt file from a directory that is one file up from the root. On our site, the first site, the files load flawlessly without adding additional line breaks. However, on his server, the files load with extra spaces after each entry. Whats going on?

how do you get flash to search a .txt file and then display the results in a specific place in the swf file. I'm very new at this Flash stuff, but I do understand simple stuff like how to animate things, and use buttons and jump to frames etc. but some of the tutorials here on this subject are too confusing for me. I've been trying to teach myself the program, and I have no idea where I could go to learn it for real. Please help me "Flash for dummies?!?!"

Flash Form Tutorial, .asp File HOW TO GET RESULTS

Unfortunately, this .asp version doesn't seem to have any real world use, as the .asp returns the results of the form to the person who filled out the form, but there seems to be no way for ME to receive the form results in the form of an order. I want to alter this form to turn it into a survey, but it is useles, unless I have a way to view the results of the survey, preferable by having it email me a report each time someone successfully submits the survey.

Need To Send ASP Results To Flash, Preferably Into Xml Results Packet?
I am creating a flash page that will pull images from a folder without specifying each image name. I have the script I need in ASP to get the image names from the folder but now I need to see this in flash. I have used the xml connector quite a bit and would be happy to just get the information back as an XML results packet. Of course if there is an easier way to do this I am open to suggestions.

Flash Player Version 10 Results Bad Timing Of TurboDemo Generatred Swf File
Our flash educational presentations are working bad in the latest Flash Player version (10). We made them in TurboDemo, and generated flash file, which could be run from our website. However with new flash player the preset timing of page turning does not work. It waits much longer, than the programmed timing. In earlier versions everything worked well, but know it's a disaster, which makes our numerous educational presentation un-enjoyable. The videos are just waiting for nothing for long seconds from page to page, which ruins the smooth flow of the presentation.

Can anybody help how can we fix this issue???

In html pages it is easy to go back (the back button in the browser) to the last page you were on. But when you have got a flash site in a html page you cannot go back to the last page in the flash site using the 'back' button in the browser. Is there anyway you can change this so that you can use the back button in a browser to go back to the last flash frame?

My computer completely crashed and I lost a few things. I saved most of my work but there are a few recent changes and additions to some of my flash version sites that I will lose.

I was wondering if I could change a SWF file back to a FLA file since I can access the new version of the SWF on the server and download it....

Help With Saving To .txt File And Calling It Back
I am having problems saving text entered in an input text field to a .txt file on my comp and then calling that file back into flash. I am trying to create a textbook that u read in flash and next to the pages a spot where u can type in notes from the text and save it and then bring it back whenever u need to. Does anyone know an easy way or hard (doesnt matter) to do this? I heard using a database would be better for what i am trying to do but i thought id throw it up here and see what u all can help me with. THanks

How To Move SWF File To Back On HTML ?
I have a swf on a page and over that i have some javascript menus (these menus drops down and expands on mouseover).. but after placing the swf file, and when i mouseover on the javascript menus, the menus expands but HIDES BEHIND the flash file !!??!!

Flash File Does Not Appear If You Hit The Back Button
the images on my site are flash files. http://www,junnocobijoux.com. when you hit the thumb the image appears and then you hit the no 2 and it shows a detail.. If you hit 1 again to go to the original image nothing appears nor if you hit the same thumb.

However this only happens on a pc in IE not in firefox nor any browser on a mac. you can clearly see the images

Any suggestions much appreciated
