Expanding Flash
How would one go about making it so that the flash file (swf file) that is going to be placed on a webpage is held a constant size. As of now the flash movie will resize itself to fit in the window. Any help on this would be great. I used a template for this design so if anyone thinks it has to do with the code I can attach the template.

Expanding Flash On Ads
I've seen some ads on yahoo and hotmail the have a flash ad that expands when rolling the mouse over the image, can anyone tell how that is done?

I'd like make an animation that expands (not on rollover but automatically) so that some kind of intro is played over the upper part of the page, and then when animation finishes playing it goes back to it's original size, so the left and right columns are visible again...

Anyone can point me out to a tutorial for this? or any ideas? Thanks.

Help:flash Expanding With Div
i have a flash movie inside a div whose width is set at 40%(the div, not the flash movie), and when the flash movie changes size(from the browser window size changing), i want the div to expand horizontally and vertically along with it. The problem is that it wont expand vertically(or shrink for that matter). it will grow and shrink horizontally but stays at a fixed height(that i didnt set). What am i doing wrong? The flash movie is set to 100% and to "exact fit."

Expanding Flash Ad?
Hi:

Can someone show me an example of how to make an expanding Flash ad? I can't seem to find what I'm looking for on Google.

I have to make a Flash banner that is exactly 700 pixels wide by 100 pixels high.

What my client would like to have happen is when they MouseOver the banner, it expands to maybe 400 pixels high and appears over the page content but doesn't push it down underneath the Flash banner.

The 700 pixels wide by 100 pixels high needs to fit into a predefined Flash area on another website. Which leads me to ask: do I also need CSS/Javascript to do this or can it all work through Flash?

Flash Expanding Navigation
I am not sure what to call this and I have spent a couple of hours googling for something close but CSS is as close as I got to this particular Flash event.

On the bottom of the page at http://www.mandchou.com there are several thumbnail graphics which expand in size when you mouseover them...I want this tutorial so I can create something similar for a site I am working on.

Expanding Flash Canvas
Hello, I've seen some websites, which often increase the side of the flash canvas, or, what appears to the canvas. I was curious - do they make a large canvas, and just enlarge a rectangle, or is there actually any other way to do it? I'm planning on, once you click on a photo, the canvas expands to fit the picture, or the new information.

I'm also worried - if the canvas has to be big with to begin with, what if it is bigger than the browser, so the viewer is forced to scroll the window?

[CS3] Expanding Text In Flash
I have a basic general knowledge of flash. Im trying to get back into it and learn more for work. Im fooling around with the expand effect for text. I think Ive got a pretty good handle on it, but I would like more options on the controls. Currently its blowing apart the text well, but the letters on the ends are blowing apart farther then the letters in the middle. I would like ALL letter to blow apart so that the same amount of space is between them at the end.
Currently my settings in the expand dialog box are as follows...
Effect Duration: 10 frames
Expand
shift group center by:
x:0
y:0
Fragment offset: 10
Change fragment size by:
height:0
width:0

Im thinking this is probably the easiest way to get the effect im looking for but its blowing apart the wrong way.

If anyone has ANY suggestions I would be VERY grateful!

Expanding Flash Embed?
Is there any possible way to have a flash file expand when it's content dictates that? Let me try to explain the situation. Here's a image of the design of the site for reference:

I have the site designed at 1000x600 and nearly all the content will fit within that, but sometimes the content will need to stretch beyond 600 pixels high. In that case I would want to stretch the botom bar, white content area and menu down. It woudn't need to be dynamic or anything, but it needs to work with all these SWFs embedded inside a main SWF containing the navigation etc.

The menu on the left would be an independent SWF and so would the content area.

I'm thinking I might have to just do the site with tables and CSS but I really hate the both of them.

Expanding Flash Ad Problem
Hello, I'm having some strange problems with the effects of an expanding flash ad that is featured on our site this month. The flash file is being called from the companies ad server through javascript. The problem is that when the content on the flash banner expands out of its normal size it ends up stopping all of our animated gif files from animating. It's like hitting the stop button on the browser. I'm using internet explorer 6.0. Has anyone ever experience a problem like this before? I have no idea what would be causing this.

Hello.
I should deliver for my client two swf -files, for a expanding banner. So can thease be files differend pixel size? Or should both be same size as the expanded swf (bigger one), and smaller one with transparent background? Or souhld I i just make smaller and bigger files, and trust that client has coded site so the expandind action is possible?

Expanding Shrinking In Flash
Okay I have Flash MX and make flash things for my sites. I have always wondered, and wanted to know, how some ads I have seen do some things.

How does one make say a banner that can expand over its size or shrink. Or it starts huge, one clicks something, and it shrinks. I can't figure out how to do it. I was thinking for the smaller one just make the extra space see through, IDK, PLEASE HELP!!!

Need Suggestion On Expanding A Flash Movie
I've got a flash movie I made for my website at http://www.stairwell.net, on the Photos page. Now what I want to do is to add more photos. Problem is, my movie is already 322KB, so I wonder if i should add the extra photos to the same movie, or just use the existing movie as a template, and make 3 or 4 more with different pictures. but then wouldn't it be really hard to make minor changes to the interface, as I'd have to repeat it for x amount of movies I create?

seems there should be an easier way, i.e., flash only loads one "group" of photos (as I define) at a time. but I don't know how to go about this.

Flash Player Expanding Issue
is there a way in my flash animation to make it so it does not expand and retract in the flash player?

i ask this because some of my movie symbols are outside the 640 x 480 view i set my stage too and when expanded to around 1280x... you can see outside the intended box.

is there an action script to fix this?
i tried everything i could think of in the publish settings to get this to go, but no dice.

Flash Obstructs Expanding Menu
At www.specmeters.com, you'll see my first run at a flash design.

If you mouse over the first left menu item (Weather Stations), you'll see that the expanding menu tucks neatly under the flash bit. We moved the flash over, but it still obstructs a corner of it.

Can anyone recommend a solution to this, that will allow the expanding menu to go over the flash?

Lines Expanding With Xscale? (Flash 8)
I am trying to make a GUI component which can be scaled by the user. In this case, the component is a frame for a scaleable HP/Mana bar for a game.

The bar is split into three parts: left, right, and middle.
The left part is supposed to stay in place // works
The right part can be dragged horizontally // works
the middle part spans the distance between the other two. // problems!

The actionScript is on the MCs.
The dragging works fine with the right one, but the middle part has two problems:
1) it does not scale perfectly, leaving spaces. In this case, it has to be perfect or it will look broken.
2) the lines scale in thickness, which is obviously not what is intended.

I have included the file, if you take a look you'll see what I mean right away. Just try dragging the right end of the bar. Thanks in advance!

Layered Expanding Flash (not An Ad, Just An Animation)
Hi all,

I am new to this forum so I hope I am posting in the right place...

My challenge is this... I have an HTML page that has a small transparent flash movie (approx. 100 pixels x 100 pixels) in a div layer that has a z-index such that it is positioned on top of html content underneath. When a user clicks on it, it triggers an animation that is much larger than the original 100x100 stage. Currently the user can't see the triggered animation because it occurs offstage. Is there some way to have the actual size of the flash movie expand so that the animation that occurs when a user clicks on the initial small area? At the end of the animation, I would like the flash movie to collapse back to it's original dimensions. This is critical because while the movie is expanded, the user will not be able to interact with the html content underneath. But while the movie is in its "resting" state with it's initial dimensions, the users need to be able to access the html content on the page.

I assume this would work somewhat similarly to the expanding flash ads that are everywhere now, but I've never built one of those either. This is simply a user-triggered animation that would expand and collapse.

Any advice as soon as possible would be most appreciated, I am pretty stuck

Expanding Flash Menu Over Normal Html?
I currently use a DHTML menu which 'expands' with subbuttons.

I thought to try it in Flash, I get the code to make my menu 'expand/grow', but when it gets longer than the Flash stage size, it gets cut off visually (+ its background is restricted to a set image.

What I'd like to know is if, but mostly how I can make my stage restrictions 'dissapear' so the menu can grow endlessly, since it's loading its buttons dynamically.

I've seen it on other sites, where the Flash menu basically hovers over the Html site when its expanded.


Any info, or suggestions whatsoever are appreciated greatly.

Flash Expanding Menu Instead Of Javascript Drop Down Menu?
I am trying to make a flash file that will take the place of a javascript drop down menu. I need to have a slim horizontal menu bar surrounded top and bottom by the rest of the HTML webpage.



The function of the flash menu would be such that when one of the buttons are moused over > the menu would expand over the HTML images below it with more menu buttons.



This is really easy to do with javascript but I want the creative freedom flash offers. Does anyone know how I can create a flash file that can expand larger than it’s original size on the webpage



I have seen some really neat flash banner ads that definitely are on top of other html. Maybe I could do something like that.



Please let me know any ideas or resources I could use to do this.

Help With MC Expanding
I want to create a movie clip, then place a text field inside.

The movie clip is just a black rectangle, with a simple colored outline, but when I place the text field inside, I want the movie clip to expand as long as the text is.

I tried setting the width of the movie clip to the width of the text field, to no avail??

Hey, I'd like to have the out line of a square (which will act as a mask) expand (technically keep the top of the square in one spot while dragging the bottom part of it towards the bottom of the screen. Expanding Boxes
I have these boxes(4)lined up next to each other,each are a different colour and about 1 inch thick. With 4 buttons to the left of them(one for each box). I would like it so when you click the button one of the four boxes expands over the other boxes so it will just be one big box. I tried a bunch of differnet things all last night and today, and now I come to the community for help. I tried using tellTarget and then just bringing the alpha down to zero and stuff like this but it did look like the way I wanted it to.

Expanding Buttons - HELP

I am trying to produce expanding buttons in flash mx. I have managed to get them to expand from the centre, but would like to have them expand in one direction (ie to the right) not both left and right!

So far I have a button with the following code:

Expanding Letters
I have a movie which duplicates to animate letters falling from the sky and spelling a word. However, the last bit of the animation scales the letter by 400% to make it more readable but when I do this the letters all end up overlapping each other. I could increase the _x gap between them during the duplication loop but then the animations widen out off the stage. So the question is, how do I adjust the _x value of the final resting place using the loop variable from the duplication script? Whatever I seem to do seems to do nothing!

Once eash is clicked the movie clip will animate a little the center in to middle of the page. The problem that i am having is how to get the picture that are part of that category to appear around the center movie clip that was clicked. I want the photos to be able to rotate around the center movie clip. Once one is clicked then it will expnad to a larger view.

Anyone have some tips on how to do this?
