Question: How Do I Go From Expert Mode To Normal Mode And Visa Versa
in the Actionscript pane? I own Flash MX 2004 Professional. Thanks for your time!

Normal Mode Vs. Expert Mode? And Actionscript In General.
If anyone can help, please do because I'm going crazy and I've been losing sleep and going through some mild depression. I know it sounds ridiculous, but actionscript is not my friend right now. I'm a designer, not a programmer and I'm just NOT getting actionscript. I've purchased 3 books on the subject and I'm still confused. One book will tell me to start off using "Normal Mode" so I can just select the actions on the left side of the "actions window". Another book will tell that I should immediately switch to "Expert Mode" because that's the best way to learn actionscript.
I'd rather learn how to type in the code instead of clicking on pre-made actions. I was wondering if you guys actually type all of your code in manually or do you occasionally use the given commands on the left side. I need to know so I can decide on how to approach actionscript.
Another thing, does anyone know a good on-line site where I could get the basics of actionscript. To be honest, what I need actionscript to do for me right now is to build a simple horizontal sliding menu. I've plenty of these on several "tutorial" sites but I want to make my own but I need the basic knowledge to do so. What should I start to learn right off the bat? Variables, properties...? Oh, and when I want to set a variable do I type var = x; or do I type Set variable = x. I'm confused. Please help.

-MX04 Actionscript Normal Mode&expert Mode?
I have just starting Flash MX 2004 and cannot figure out to switch in the actionscript between between normal mode and expert mode.

Normal Mode And Expert Mode-Not To Be Found In MX.?
The two modes Normal and expert modes, that were of great use is not to be seen in MX 2004. How is it?

Toggling Between Expert Mode And Normal Mode?
toggling between expert mode and normal mode?

I just switched from MX to MX 2004. BIG improvement but as you all know when you switch programs there is a learning curve. Is there a way to switch back and forth between normal mode and expert mode in you r action script panel? It seems to only have expert mode and I by no means am an expert scripter.

Any help?

thanks

Expert Mode Vs Normal

ActionScript EXPERT And NORMAL Mode?
I took a few years off of Flash and I am just getting back to it and I was wondering whatever happened to the normal mode in the actionscript window in the new Flash MX. It seems like now you have to write everything in what used to be called expert mode. Is there any way to go back to beginner's mode? I checked in the prefs but can't see anything like that

Normal/Expert Mode - FlashMX2004
In flashMX2004 I can only seem to work within ´Expert mode´ when I'm editing actionscripts. Can anyone tell me why the so called ´normal mode´ dissapeared? Did it dissapear, or can I switch?
The behaviors in MX2004 are helpfull and save me a lot of time but not good enough to somehow replace normal mode editing like I could do in the previous MX.

Expert Mode > Normal Mode
I have flash professional 2004, i was just wondering if there is an option to get it back into normal mode, besides expert mode???

Normal/expert Modes
I'm trying out the latest version of Flash (MX 2004) and noticed (or failed to notice!) that the normal/expert modes are no longer an option in the Actions panel. Is this really true or has the option just been moved? As someone with little knowledge (or liking!) of actionscript, the normal mode option was extremely helpful and timesaving. I will be very disappointed to hear that it has been removed. But I can’t believe that it actually would have been, so can someone please point me in the right direction?
Thanks

Normal Vs Expert Actionscript In MX Professional
Can anybody help me? I cannot figure out how to set the actionscript panel to normal. All I get is the expert mode and I'm not good enough to use it without many mistakes. I had no trouble in regular Flash MX but MXPro is driving me crazy.

thanx

Normal Mode
I am just starting to switch over to FLASH MX 2004 Professional. Is there a way in the action script menu to get the "normal mode" rather than expert all the time. I find it easier to use when switching between scenes or different frames.

Thanks,
Nathan

Normal Mode
yeah hi

does anyone know if macromedia is going to release an update to MX 2004 that brings back normal mode for the actionscript box? why did they remove it in the first place?

Normal Mode...Gone?
The normal mode seems to have disappeared in MX 2004 and I seem to have been stopped dead in my track. I can't do a normal button action anymore! Is there a way to re-enable it?

Normal Mode
hey, is there a way to change the actionscripting in MX2004 to 'normal mode' as in MX? cause is't always in expert mode now :s

thx

Normal Mode
In the actions panel, there used to be a normal and expert mode. Now the only one that I can find is expert and that kinda sucks. thanks

No Normal Mode?
am I missing something or there is no normal mode in the actiions panel? (Flash MX pro 2004)

Where's Normal Mode
Hi,

I have just got Flash MX 2004 and there is no normal mode!!! I am a junior web designer and have learnt all my action script using normal mode.

Can anyone tell me why they got rid of it?

No Normal Mode? Umm?
How very odd that they would DISCONTINUE normal mode scripting and only provide expert mode in MX 2004.

I know actionscript, but i would MUCH rather have the options to choose from instead of writting the whole scipt out. I am so VERY disappointed...I find myself continuously using the old Flash MX version because of this very reason.

Does anyone have any clue why they took out the normal mode??

Are those guys at Macromedia getting lazy on us??

Flash MX 2004 - Actions Normal Vs Expert
In Flash MX you could toggle the mode of actions from normal to expert. In Flash MX 2004, it seems to default to Expert mode and I cannot seem to be able to work out how to change it to normal mode. Any ideas?

Normal Mode ? MX 2004
Hi,
I can't find the normal mode there is only expert mode..!!
where is the properties?? like = _alpha , _visible....?
the loadind bar which was build in and componennts doesn't work..
please any answers??

Normal Mode Whinning
I am trying to get used to this no normal mode thing and if I were in college great, I would take a simester and figure it out but I am not. I make sites for a living and my production has slowed down way too much because of the lack of a normal mode. I have to open MX and MX 2004 just to combine abilities and get something done. It comes across to many of us that Macromedia left it out because it was too hard to get it to work properly. It was great to pop back and forth between normal and expert. Like a regular screw driver and an electric one. Sometimes the electric is better but sometimes not. Please put it back. I will eventually get to "expert only" coding but I am not there yet and it sounds like many of us are not there yet. Enough to justify making the effort to get it work.

How To Edit In Normal Mode
i know you can edit in normal mode or expert mode in flash mx, but how do you edit in normal mode in flash mx 2004? it seems to be on expert mode only.

i have a mac g5 if that helps.

thanks

Normal Mode 2004?
I am relatively new to Flash, therefore I tend to take advantage of normal mode in Action Script. It just seems to help me along. So along came 2004 Professional and I cant find my Normal Mode anywhere. Is this still an option or am I actually forced to finally learn Action Scripting for my self? Any help is apprectiates.

Where Is The Normal Mode In MX 2004 Pro?
As title says where is the normal mode in MX 2004 Pro. My boss has bought the new version but we still use the normal mode because it is very easy. Does MX 2004 Pro. even have a normal mode? I am still using the old version minus the new features.

What Happened To Normal Mode?
I realize this question is probably outdated, but I'm curious. What happened to Normal Mode for editing Actionscript?

Granted, I've been using Expert Mode for years, but I teach Flash, and teaching it was always easier with Normal Mode. Jumping right in to Expert Mode can be overwhelming to someone just starting.

Am I just missing something, I can't even seem to find any recognition of this change in and documentation. It's as if it just happened and no one said anything, like when they changed Darrins on Bewitched.

Also, I used to use the built in Tutorials to teach my class, which are also missing from MX 2004. They've replaced it with a How Do I, Panel which again jumps far too deep into Flash to soon for newbies.

What Happened To Normal Mode?
Normal Mode seemed to have disappeared from Flash MX 2004 and because of my little knowledge of ActionScript...I'm well...stuck. It was also faster with Normal Mode and Macromedia even said: "Less Programming" ....I'm thinking of Installing Flash MX and Uninstalling MX 2004.

How Do I Get 'Normal' Mode In Actionscript For MX 2004?
I'm used to using Flash 5.
I haven't really used MX that much.
I'm developing an application in MX 2004.

Unfortunately, I'm having trouble using the actionscript interface.
I can't get to 'Normal' mode in editing the actionscript.
It seems to be contantly in 'Expert' mode.

How do I get Normal mode?

Thanks.

Flash MX 2004 - Normal Mode

Have I gone crazy, or has this feature been eliminated?

What Has Happened To The Normal Mode In 2004?

Where Has Actionscript 'normal Mode' Gone In MX Pro 2004
Hi there,

This is probabably a stupid question but I've just started using MX 2004 Pro and I can't seem to change actionscript features to the 'normal mode' of the old MX. I used to do all my basic actionscript editing in this mode, selecting the scrip options that I wanted through checkboxes and dropdown menues. I just can't seem to find a normal mode in the actionscript panel of MX Pro 2004. Has the feature been removed are do I just have to change a preference somewhere?

thanks very much for your help,

michael

Normal Mode In Flash 2004?
Does any one know how to go to Normal mode? I am getting script errors, so I thought I could go from expert mode to normal mode and trouble shoot, problem is I don't know if it is possible.

What Happened To Normal Mode? I'm Lost
I thought I was quite a competant flash guy, then I upgraded to MX 2004 and tried to do some basic actionscript, but couldn't find normal mode. Every other way I've found of inputing actionscript seems really expert to me. Suddenly I feel like a complete beginner! Is there no way of doing things a bit more intuitively? Help, I've got stuff to do in a program I don't recognise anymore.

No Actionscript Normal Mode In MX 2004?
Hi

I think ive just realised that there is no Normal mode in the actionscript window in Flash MX 2004. Is this true? Im surprised at this because im now even struggling to make a simple button control the timeline. Is there anything else to replace the normal mode and put in most of the scripting syntax for you?

Thanks

Changing From Professional To Normal Mode
Hey everybody,
I've used flash 5 for years, and I've finally made the switch to mx. However, I'm having trouble switching the actionscript mode from professional to normal. It's very frustrating because I'm used to normal mode and now I'm forced to write every line of my script. If someone could help me and explain how I can switch the mode I would really appreciate it.

Thanks tons,
John
