Hello,

What is there in the way of 3rd party software for flash that can do things like write to files on the users machine, edit the users registry and create projectors (or standalone flash pieces) that connect to the internet for live data ?

Can anyone advise me on this - and/or point me to some articles?. Who are the players in this field?. I know about http://www.multidmedia.com/ but are there any other that I should know about?

There are so many flash 3rd-party animation software (e.g. SwishMAX) which say they could cut your animation process by at least 50%. But what do you use and do you even use it in the first place?

3rd Party Flash Streaming Service?
Im looking for a 3rd party service which will allow me to remotely stream high quality video (and audio), which I can embed into a website. The video has to be private, so the only way you can view the stream is if you are viewing it from the site that has the coded embedded into it. Free or paid services are fine.

Its going to be used for cams, where people have to have a valid membership to a site in order to view it.

Can anyone suggest something like this?

Supplying Flash Adverts For 3rd Party Sites
I've been asked to create some ads to go on a site that specifies "Advertising requiring the use of plug-ins like Flash and Shockwave must utilize "sniffer" code to detect if the user has the required plug-in and display an alternate image if the user does not have it. ".

How do I do this? Are they expecting me to supply the HTML/Javascript that loads either my .swf or a JPEG? I would have expected the host site to have a site-wide function to handle that. What is the normal way of doing this?

Live Flash Streaming For 3rd Party Programme
Hi

I want to use a programme called Wirecast to produce a series of webcast television. My problem is that I want to stream h.264 as flash as it is the most ubiquitous platform on the web, and delivers the content in the quality that I desire.

The makers of Wirecast ( Vara Software) at present are only able to give me the option of the streaming in Real player. This is apparently because Adobe won't allow them to include the code to stream flash.

I know that I am not alone in the frustration this causes, and in fact I have held off purchasing the software package until it has the flash capability, even if that version were to have a premium added.

Could someone at Adobe please help me, is it possible that you could license your product to them?

First off can some one please provide a list of 3rd party /open-source tools that reasonably emulates the Flash 9 authoring environment and secondly are there any tools out there that can convert from SVG format to Flash 9 (AVM2) native vector format...

I've checked out a few things online at Open Source Flash including SVG2SWF converters but conversion is typically restricted to Flash 8 and below...

Launching 3rd Party Apps From Flash While In Full Screen Mode
I was told that there is a script(s) that can be used to Launch 3rd party (ppt, pdf, etc) apps from Flash while in full screen mode. When the the 3rd party app launches, Flash window is reduced and after working with the 3rd paty app like saving a PDF document and when clicking on Flash app window it resumes to Full screen mode. Can some one point me to this screen.

FYI: if in full screen mode in a Flash app for CD-ROM, and if you try to launch a pdf document, it is launched in the background on then PC and in foreground on the Mac. Currently we use Director to control save frile from CD-ROM but sometimes it is a pain. Help will be much appreciated.

Flash Filters
I can find the filters tab when I use flash. How can i make it appear? I just installed Studio 8. Before that I had the trial version. The trial version did not have the filters tab either.

i used some filters in my flash movie. but it causes my movie slowing down...is there any trick to overcome it? i want to get a blurr effect.

When I went to the conference. The dude speaking made a circle mc. than he added a filter using the filters window. Once that was done he click on a button or opened a window and said. "Walla , fl8 generates and shows u the code it used o make this effect". I am wondering if anyone knows where he did that.

I thought that if I imported the filters on my main timeline that I can then access the filters from any movieclip in my FLA file.

Thats not the case with this though.

I import the DropShadowFilter on my main timeline

ActionScript Code:

then in my movieclip I put this

Hi there, I find that the filters i apply in my movies such as drop shadow work locally with no problem when i publish. But when i upload and check them remotely they do not appear. Can anyone shed some light on this please. Any help would be awesome. Thanks. B

if I want a dropshadow on something, should I include it in the picture or apply it with a filter in Flash?

Is it less efficient to do it in flash? will it bog it down more than a pic would?

I have a flash with movie symbols filtered with blur. When I try to export it to quicktime, I get a message I can only export using flash version 5 settings only (which means- no filters...)
Btw, my quicktime's version is 7.0.4.

Flash Filters Not Showing.
I have applied two glow filters and a bevel filter to a movieclip in flash. It all worked fine at first, but when I increased the size of the movieclip they stopped showing. This is probably on purpose by flash to keep the framerate high, but is there a way to stop this from happening?

is there any built in way to create a border around an existing object on the stage? currently i am using the GlowFilter :

f.filters = new Array(new flash.filters.GlowFilter(0x000000,100,1.1,1.1,5,5, false,false));

[i have to use 1.1 as 1 doesn't show up and 2 is too big]

...but there is a noticable haze - even on something that small - which i really don't want.

any ideas?

Has anyone out there tried to make use of filters to create pseudo-3D effects for layering MovieClips?

In other words, if I have a floating window, I would like it's drop shadow to change depending on what it is on top of. So if there is another window right below it, the shadow will be small, but dark and crisp where the shadow overlaps the object below. Where it doesn't overlap, the shadow will be lighter and fuzzier to signify greater distance....

And what about the two simple kinds of reflection? Has anyone got any pointers on A) the floor reflection concept (that is so popular and already losing its welcome, IMHO) or B) basic reflections where one clip reflects another?

I'm hoping that either someone has already built (and is willing to share) a dynamic engine that will generate these kinds of effects at run-time, or that a group of folks here at Ultrashock could work together to make an engine to handle these things.

I have since upgraded to CS3 and am able to view the movie in CS3, however I can not add filters to this movie when I am within CS3. How do I convert the older flash 6 movie so that it is compatible with filters in CS3?

In Flash 8 if i create a movieclip i can add an adjust filter which lets me control the brightness , contrast , Saturation and Hue through slider but if i wanted to do this through code theres no AdjustFiler class so how would I go about achieveing the same effect through code

Exporting Hi Res Images With Filters From Flash
I use flash to export hi res images to other programs. These images are made up of native flash vectors, using some movieclips with filters like blur and glow.

When I export images at 300 DPI into programs like photoshop I get disturbing cross-hatch effects in the hi res file where these filters have been used.

Is this a limitation of the export ngine, the filters themselves or both? is there a workaround that anyone can suggest.

These files get printed out in hi-res and in large format so any imperfections in the image will show up immediately.

Customizing Flash.filters.AnyFilter ? Pt1
I would like to modify the flash.filters.DropShadowFilter to include a scale transofrmation and I don't even know where to start.

I have tried making my own version by attaching a mc with a bmp copy of the target object scaled, etc. etc. but it doesn't account for changes in the shape of the clip without including an onEnterFrame beacon of sorts.

Could someone shed some light on how the flash.filters package works and whether you can extend or modify the built-in effects?

Photoshop PNGs Vs Flash Filters
I was wondering if it would make for a smaller file size and more responsive swf file if I did all of my interface design in Flash using filters etc. as opposed to exporting PNG files from Photoshop.

I would think that the Flash Filters would be better if I could do all the same stuff, since it will be vectors.

Anyone have any experience or recomendations on this?

Question 1: How do I add a filter to a movieclip from actionscript,
More specificly, the "adjust color" filter, and I want to decrease brightness, saturation, hue, and contrast... by actionscript...
If you dont know what I mean, use the circle tool to create a circle, convert to movie clip, click the "filter" tab, then click + and add a adjust color filter, you'll see what I mean...

Question 2: I need to output text to 'text' documents, no I cannot use shared objects for this, as it is a program for a client, and it isn't safe enough for me...

Basically, this is what I want to do...

MTASC And Eclispe: Problems With Flash Filters
Hello everybody!
Using MTASC with Eclipse editor, I don't manage to use flash filters...
That's not the problem of my script which is reduced to the simplest one in order to apply a filter, and works with MTASC+SEPY editor.
There is no error found, but the filter (in my script a blurfilter) is just not applied...

Somebody has an idea?

PS: I tried to understand what's inside the file BlurFilter.as, but I was surprised to find...roughly nothing??

I have an old file that used generator to make a template. was woundering if "one" can you export the FLA to a swt file or "two" is there a 3rd party software out there that still does it...
