ICQ Detection On Flash ?
Hello guys,
I just wonder if anybody knows how to implement an ICQ status in java. From java I know how to give the status information to Flash via variable. For the moment I just open on my site a small window with the default ICQ status button. But the ICQ default status buttons are ugly and I would like to manage it all from Flash. If anyone has already met the same problem this would help me.

I know you can make a small swf that can detect if a users browser has flash and if so it directets them to xwy.html. However I want to make a small animation, as an swf and a gif file ... i was wonder if it's possible that i can put in some sort of code that can detect if the user has flash and load either the swf or the gif file if they haven't got the plugin - instead of making two seperate pages. yay or nay? spanks!

Guys,

i have created a page which has flash in the center.. now i need a script that detects the browser and if the browser has flash, it should display the swf file. If the browser doesnt have flash player, it should display an alternate jpg file (which is already in the server). The catch is the page shouldnt be redirected anywhere. The detection should be done on the fly. I think cysive site has done this

Flash 5 Detection
I have tried 4 different versions of peoples flash detection all from flash kit but I cant seem to get one that works .I dont get it, they all have the code check in the flash file but the problem is if the user doesn't have the flash player how is the detection code in the swf going to be able to check if the user has the flash player catch my drift. So does anyone know how to check it from the intro html page through a Java script or somrthing

I'm using a couple of pieces of flash on a site I'm building and would like to have some sort of flash detection. Mostly I'd like to be able to do an easy detection, then replace the flash files with images if the viewer doesn't have the plug in. I'd much prefer this to making two versions of the site!

So, firstly, can someone point me in the right direction for a flash detection script, and secondly, is there some way I can use it to simply replace images rather than redirect a viewer to a new page?

i remeber a method of detecting the flash plug - in
a whileback but cant for the life of me remeber the code,

the way it worked was in the first frame of your movie you would have a piece of script that only the flash5 plug-in would understand and a gotoAndPlay(3),

then in the second frame you have a stop action with some text saying you have an out of date plug-in.

but i cant remeber the scipt for it, i remember being a one liner- something simple, but i cant find it, any ideas for this old aging man

I've got my flash intro all setup except for one last tasks of finding a flash version detector that will play the flash intro if flash 6 player is installed, and send the user to a html page if they don't! The only thing is I'm trying to find a detector that doesnt need a index page to deetect the flash plugin!


Ohhh and another question if I publish in flash 5 will the user not need the flash 6 plugin!

Alright, I had someone check out my web site today and they got nothing but a blank screen. They didn't have the latest version of the Flash player. I know there is a way to detect the Flash Player. Hello, I really need help with that, the I was trying to use the Flash detection kit include in the dev. kit but that not work properly for all platform.
so a guy come back with an other possibility (the code is bellow)
No problem for the swf, no problem to change the 3 link but that not work so much...

1. You need to make a small swf (1 frame) that redirect to your flash site.
Use this actionscript in the first frame: getURL("yourpagename.html");
....... name the swf whatever you want to.
2. Insert the javascript in the index page and make sure to rename these 3

Flash Detection-using MX
I have been reading tons of information today on flash detection...here, macromedia's site, and a few others. I am confused at what is the best option to use for our site. We use mostly html pages with .swf movies loading on a couple pages when they load and some pages with buttons that activate loading of a new window with flash files. Any suggestions on the best direction to go?

We don't want to have a different site with so few flash files. Actually, we didn't do any detection, but then I ran into some problems with a .swf file created in MX that didn't show in Netscape 4 or 6.2 without any message.

I just want to make sure that if the user doesn't have FlashMX player, they are directed to macromedia.com to the player download page and if they have it, then they are taken to frame1 of the site.

Worked fine.
I did some changes and republished in flash 6, changed the detection to 6
but now my clients on MAC can not get site to load. I would appreciate a MAC

I have done a little bit here and there with MX but one thing I am running into is when I put it up on the web and you have the Flash 5 player, it goes ahead and plays my flash MX swf's. The components dont work and I dont know how to code in a detection that automatically updates there player to Flash 6.

Can someone direct me to a nice tutorial on how to detect if someone has an up-to-date flash player (or any flash player at all!) on their computer? You know, so I can have my site automatically direct them to either the flash site, or the html site.

I have a flash banner at the top of each page. What is the best way to do redirection here? Do a flash test, write a cookie, and use 'if cookie = this' do flash, 'if cookie = that' do jpg?

i have MX and when i published my file as html, i chose to detect flash 6 but when i selected publish, it came up saying that i needed to select more optinos to make this possible, but the file will still be created.

i continued and uploaded it. but unfortunately, someone could not access my site becaus they did not have the flash 6 plugin.

i imagine someting has gone wrong in my publish settings. what do i need to do to get this work.

what would you pro suggest i do to detect flash 6?

Making a page, and am having a slice on an image map a flash animation...however I want the viewer to see a static gif if they do not have the correct version of flash. Not prompt them to download it.

Does anyone have any clue? I found some script but it does wayyyyy more then I want, and is far too big.
