Flash .exe On Web Site
I have received a flash .exe file. I would like to put it on my web site. Is there any down side to this? Security issue, for example? Or any other reason not to? Thanks,

Help Finishing Up My First Flash Site - Using Navigation To Display Different Sections Of The Site?
Thanks for looking! i am making my first flash site, and im not sure what to do next in regards to navigating through the site. I have different sections, home, info, hardware, equipment, etc, but im not sure how to make each section appear when you click the corresponding navigation link. i have an idea but im not sure how to execute it.
Should i make a movie clip for each section (home, info, hardware, contact), then place each movie clip in its own frame on the main time line, and on each navigation link button (each one is a movie clip) use action script and put a gotoAndPlay() code with the frame number of the corresponding section? so when you click it, it goes to that frame which has the movie clip that has the content for that part of site, say contact, or info?? if so how can i do this?
that sounds really confusing and im sorry but please help out a beginner! Thank you and happy halloween!

I am trying to implement a custom flash player where my embedded source code (<OBJECT></OBJECT>) can be placed on various websites. I would like to gather some information of the users who are using my flash player on their site. I wrote the following code inside the flash player to gather the site URL (http referrer) so I can send this piece of information back to my server.

Have A Flash 6 Site That Loads External Txt, Swf, And Mp3 And The Site Works On My...
mac,but when viewed on PC...none of those external files load into the main movie. Anyone know what may cause this to happen? another thing...this site was done in flash 5 (worked fine then), but went with 6 at the end to use the mp3 streaming feature.
Any insight will be greatly appreciated!

Full Flash Site - Site Architecture Problem
Sorry for this post, but i'm really having trouble grasping the idea of multiple clips, transitions and the scripting to make it all happen.
I have been fiddling with flash for over 3 years now and should be alot farther along, I just wish i had spent as much time on flash as I have on Photoshop.
I now have my own domain, and want to make a fully flash site, as imageReady rollovers just don't get it for me anymore and I want to make a nice site with some impact...queue the flash guru's
The site i'm looking at and want to model as an experiment is www.desalledesigns.com
as far as I can tell, I need the following movie clips
1. transition (to include a preloader... close one content, preload scene, open next content)
2. content1
3. content2
4. content3
5. intro (actually would be a scene)
6. and so on.
is there a tutorial around that dives into this type of site organization?
HTML Site Map Linking To Pages In Flash Site
Hey all,
There's a button in our flash template that is for a site map. To get better indexing results, we decided to have that button link to an html site map on our website, and then have the html links go back to the flash site. Is that plausible? How would one go about doing something like that, if it IS possible? If someone could give me a hand, that'd be great!

Flash Site Versus HTML Site
My website is 100% Flash and my content is all Flash games.
I have read that having a Flash website is a disadvantage if you are trying to create a popular website and get a high Alexa ranking.
My Alexa rating is 13,000. But, I wonder if it could be higher with an html based site.
Do you think I should create my site in FrontPage or some html website builder?

PC And Mac Viewing Flash Site. Why Is There A Difference With My Site?
Hi,
I'm in the process of completing my first flash site. I thought it was going ok until I checked the site on a PC.
The swf (my site) doesnt appear to be the correct size (in pixels) on a PC but is fine on a Mac.
I have created a HTML page to hold the swf and I thought I had scripted the correct size into this but is there something I've missed?
If anyone has any suggestions as to how to solve my problem please let me know...

I have Flash site that's inside HTML site. The problem is that the links inside flash don't work when i use site with the HTML site. (The links work randomly, the connect to wrong swf, but they work on the second clicking correctly)...

And the journey continues.... Alright... I've settled on converting a flash site to a website menu. Thus far, I've deleted the portion that I don't need and have shrunk the height of the document. However, there is a nice little dot smack dab in the middle of the original document size. I've done a test run and it only shows that the top portion (which is what I want to convert too .swf and export into DW) is there and nothing else. But that little red dot has me concerned... sorta like it's a secret button that's gonna raise hell later on down the line. LoL!
Does anyone know what's going on w.that thing and if it is likely to cause problems? Also, do you know of any good tutorials on making a swf serve as a menu in DW?

How Do You Update A Flash Object Without Flash? Selling A Flash Site.
I am wondering what may be a large wonder. If I create a website with flash etc for somebody else, how can they update their own site? For example, if they have an 'updates' page, I don't want to have to keep on redoing it for them in Flash. I heard words like 'strings' and 'XML' kicking about, but don't really understand it. Newbie Needing Some Site Building Guidance - How To Structure A Site?
I need a little help - I am designing an art portfolio in Flash, and so I need it to be a site that has a few different pages that are linked between each other - you know, common sense. I really have no idea how to go about structuring that. I've been doing well at animations and buttons and ActionScript and all kinds of things in Flash, but I just don't understand how to make several pages that are part of the same document. Do you use scenes, or different "projects" within the document, or what? And then how do you link to them - just like it was any other URL?
I GUESS I mean, how do you design in Flash using a home page and then other pages to navigate to?

Want bad help to create a javapop up link from index.htm flash movie with a enter button that leads to the other .swf that is a popup window with another .swf. How do I do that.

Flash Site Not Working In IE7 But Ok In Firefox(Newbie To Flash Websites)
So i have created a simple 4 page flash site with CS3 as an actionscript 2.0.
My website works just fine in Firefox but does not work at all in internet explorer. Does anyone know if this is a Flash issue or Internet Explorer doing something weird. Feel free to check out my source file on the site.
I created the layout in Photoshop then imported it into Flash. From there all i did was hit publish. Am i missing a step?

Quicktime To Flash With Alpha I.e. Contribute Flash On Macromedia Site
Hi,
We have been trying to emulate the cutout video of the "/hassle" swf that is demonstrated on the Contibute Flash on the main page of Macromedia.com.
We have tried a PNG sequence, but it is way too much K. I know Quicktime can have transparency and when we create a Quicktime in After Effects and try to import it into Flash, the Keying shows and there is no alpha.
Is there a way to do it?
How did Macromedia do it on the Contribute Flash on their homepage?

Flash MX Site Is Not Displaying On Some Machines With Flash Player 6 Installed
Has anyone experienced this? I am authoring in Flash MX on a Mac. When I put my movie in an html page (go to http://www.bradleybrowndesign.com/bbdg/alpha/ and click on the link) I can see the movie fine on my Mac and on the two PCs I use for testing, but there are other Mac systems, including my Mac at home, that can't see the movie. It loads briefly -- our company name and the main menu appear for a split second -- and then the screen goes white.
I say "Mac systems" because the bug affects _all_ browsers on the machine, even though they have Flash 6 installed. (I haven't tested this extensively, but it is at least true of IE 5.1, Safari and Netscape 6 and 7.)
Hopefully someone has solved this riddle before.

Help-intro Not To Play If A Visitor Goes To Another Site And Then Comes Back To Site

I will have either a flashvideo sequence or flash animation playing as an introduction to flashsite. Now my client would like it to play that video only once and never again-that's not a problem. But what he also wants is that the video won't play if a visitor goes to another site and then comes back to his site in lets say 5 min. Also he would like to not have the video play if a visitor hits the refresh on their browser while visiting the site. Does anyone know how to solve this-I guess you would have to use some sort of javascript combined with actionscript? I'm kind of intermediate when it comes to actionscript and hardly knows any javascript... It would be very interesting to find out how this would work...

Hybrid Flash.HTMl Site - Flash Reloads?
I have a website im working on, my first site using flash.
I have a header which is FLASHMX and the bottom part is HTML.
When you click on the flash it plays an animation, loads a picture, then uses "get url, self" to open a new html page.
My problem then is that the flash header reloads itself!!
How do i get around this??
Ive seen plenty of hybrid flash/html sites....dont tell me that they all use Frames??

Importing A Flash Photo Album Into A Flash Site
HELP!...
i have made a flash photo album... rather simple and easy to do. it is saved as a .swf file which when you click on it runs fine as it should do.
i'v been told that you can just drag/drop/import to libary (in flash) with the .swf files - which i can also do.
the problem i have is that the album when open just flickers and loops with no photo's.
do i need a command or something?

How To Update Text Content In Flash Site Without Having To Use Flash?
I am using Flash CS3 to build a website for a band. When finished, I want to hand the site over to them and leave it up to them to update the (mainly) textual content such as news and tour dates. Is there a way they can do this easily without any knowledge of Flash? I've heard that Flash can pull information from a linked text file some how.

Dreamwever Site With Flash, FLash No Longer Shows Up
hello everyone-
ive really searched for an answer to my issue, but i cant find out what is wrong. i do light work in Dreamweaver, last year i created a site for my aunts company in MX, Flash and Dreamwever, everything was working fine.
I upgraded to the new Dreamweaver and FLash 8. I just did a update in the wording on the index.html page, since then the flash logo that was on top, it just kind of fades in, it hasnt been working. like it doesnt even exist on the real web, but it shows up with i press F12 and go about it that way. im so confused.
does anyone have any ideas? the comptuer's all have the latest flash player and all that installed. im not a big flash or dreamwever person, so im really lost...

I'm at the point where I'm trying to put code in the buttons using a movie I created.

When I press the button I get an error and also its pointing to the wrong folder for the movie.

First Flash Site
Hi,
I have used flash for a few different things but this is the first time ive ever done a web site with it and need some basic tips/rules
ie, what size should I make it 800/600 or is that to big? How do I make the the swf centre aligned?
Should I have a link to download the flash player? and should I have an html only site incase the viewer cannot get flash player?
Any answers to these and other stuff any1 thinks i should know would be a great help.

Hello! I am a newbie and I'm planning to make an entire site using Flash MX. The main purpose of this site will be to display information about a soccer team which involves pictures and so on. I would like to know what the FIRST STEP would be. I have a general idea of what it has to look like, what next? ok i have this site and im going to turn it over to flash. i need to know how to do this the easist way. (So it will work and look like a site not just a picture with buttons on it). also can i use a php newsposter, and php poll with flash if yo know this please help me or if you know of a tutorial that shows how to do it from that start then hook me up.
Help With Flash MX Site....
Hey all.
I'm doing a site for a friend's band and it's look pretty good so far. However.. I have run into a bit of a problem.
The site features a 3D box type design. The buttons are on the left hand side of the box, and when they are clicked they fly up and over to the right hand side and open the corresponding page.
It all works great except visitors have to click a close button on each window so they can view the next window unobstructed.
I would like it so that when a visitor clicks on a button, if the movie clip from a previous button is loaded the current one unloads and the new one unloads.

Click on the Bio button to open the Bio page. Then, without clicking the close button below the Bio page click another button on the left, like News or whatever.
How I want it is if someone clicks the Bio button and is viewing that page, then wants to view the news page I want the Bio page to disappear when they click the News button and before the News page opens.
Any help is greatly appreciated. If you would need the source file to help just let me know.
