Scrol External Txt Problem
Hi people,

Someone can help on my probl.?

It's like this.I made a scroller loading in a external txt file.When
I place the scroller inside an mc and place on stage it works.Only because of the structure of my site.This mc should be placed inside another mc.This mc is loaded by a button from the root with an attachmovie function.Now the scroller and txt file is loaded but the buttons don't scrol the text anymore

Can someone have a look at this file and solve the probl.
You'll see mc>test is where I placed my scroller in and mc>test2
is where I placed mc test in.

MX: Textfield In Scrol Pane
Hi, I have a text field in a scrol pane.

It is a xml news list.

The problem I am having is that I want the pane to fill up as the news comes in.

At the moment I have so set the text field to be a certain size and it gets populated.

What I want to do is have the text field push down, depending on the amount of content - making the scrol bar appear if the text goes down longer than the size of the scrol pane.

I wanne make a scroller that loads in external txt file so its easy to update.Problem is the way my site is setup it doesn't seem to load the txt.

My scroller is placed inside an mc.This mc is placed inside another mc.The mc is loaded by a holder(attachmovie function).
The only way I can see it working is when the scroller(mc) is placed on the main timeline.How can I make the scroller work
inside an mc placed inside another mc wish is loaded by a holder.

I seem to have a probl with my scroller.The txt file get's loaded only the scrollbuttons don't seem to work.

Text Scroller Download Can You Make Smoother Scrol
If I give you this text scroller download can you make it scroll smoother? Thats the challenge I havent seen one roll smoothe yet. Can you apply some code to make it scrol in small pixel amounts and speed as well? So that it rolls up or down the screen the same as movie words scrol on the TV screen?

But, I want to use the new style scrol bars.

There does not seam to be an option of having a separate vertical scrol bar in the new style and associating it with a text area...

Flash And Firefox Drop Down Menus - Menus Appear Behind Flash
Hi,

In firefox, if you browse to http://www.unitedpatients.co.uk/index.php and mouse over "What the Doctors Say" you will see that the drop down menu generated by Fireworks appears behind the Flash file on the right side of the page.

This was an issue in IE but was fixed by adding:

In this link "http://resources.bravenet.com/scripts_archive/javascript_dhtml/images/preloader_with_status_bar/" (Pre-loader with Status bar) on the www.bravenet.com website, support told me that the script could be adapted to show the loading status of a *.swf file, not just a *.jpg file.

Hi, Please let me know how could i maintain Flash status, while moving in other pages of same browser?

Like i have a tab system, which is creating dynamically. Now when i click first tab then it will remain in same browser but when i clicked second tab then it will redirect to another page in same browser. but when i will back thorugh any method then tabs should remain as it was. Is there a way to affect the status bar of the browser from flash? The reason I ask is because when you mouseover a flash link, it doesn't display the link in the status bar. is it possible to make this happen somehow?

you know how when you scroll over an html link, it's relative url is displayed in the gray bar at the bottom of the page, right? of course you do. is there any way to set that status line to the url of the button in a flash movie, even if it means manually entering the button's url? i think i'm making sense here...

Right, im currently producing my page, and ive sorted a really neat flash email icon with mouse over.

What im wondering is... would someone be able to produce some kind of button so that when the user mouse over, it states if the user is online in Yahoo Messenger when mouse is hovered over. If this is not possible then is doesnt matter but I have asked another person who is pretty well knowleged about actionscript and he cannot seem to get it to work.

I know basic actionscript but this is waaayyy beyond my knowledge of flash.

Any help would be much appreciated.

IE Status Bar Hangs On Pages With Flash
The flash movies plays but for some reason the staus bar, especially in IE just hangs...indicating that there is something else to load. The only thing on the site that is flash is a little banner thingy. Anyone else run into this sort of problem and have a siggestion?

I attached a screne grab of the culprit.

Sending Event Status To Flash From Js
Can I do this?

I have a window with flash in it, and a button that pops open an html window with a form. Well, when the user fills in the information, submits, then closes the window, I want the flash in the opener page to know that popup has been closed and react to it, like displaying different content now that the user has filled out the form.

I tried setting a value when onFocus triggers, but it isn't working, and I have no clue if I can tell the flash that onFocus has triggered.

Any ideas? Can this even be done?

How Do You Turn On Status Bar In Flash MX 2004 Pro?

I have Education version. No Status Bar selection under Windows>Toolbars or in Preferences. I am refering to the Status Bar at the bottom edge of the program window not the one in the Timeline area.

Flash MP3 Player (Streaming) With Status - HELP
Hi there!

Just to start, I have already read Nutrox's post about a flash MP3 player, and it works wonderfully. It is, however primative (which it's intentions were to be).

I would like to add a few things to it, but am unsure about the sound control class in Flash 7 / 8.

I would like to add a bar that shows where the duration is of the song with functionality to be able to click anywhere on the bar and be able to skip to that place in the song.

Furthermore, I would like to be able to tell the length of any song loaded in from the XML file (this is also a part of the above point as well).

Nutrox, how do you pause and resume the music?

If anyone can help me out with any of the above, not needed to do it for me, but just guide me in the right direction, it would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Messages In The Status Area Of Your Browser From Flash
I was experimenting with the use of javascript commands (onLoad, window.status, etc) in the getURL actionscript tag and accidently figured out how to display messages in the bottom left status area of any browser! At first I thought this was some sort of glitch. It's not and I thought it was really cool. I wanted to share this knowledge with you. I put together both a PC ZIP and Mac SIT package with each containing Flash version 4 and 5 compatible files. Just to be on the safe side I scanned the FLA and SWF files so I know they are virus free. Check out the example:

Php Mail() Returning Status To Flash Movie
Hi,

I am using php for a contact form, it all works great thanks to a Flash Kit tutorial.

But as I am no php expert I would like to know. If or how I can get
some sort of success fail status returned from the php.

The last lines in the script are.

mail($ToName." <".$ToEmail.">",$ToSubject, $Message, "From: ".$FirstName." <".$Email.">");

Print "_root.Mail.EmailStatus=Complete - Your mail has been sent";

This message is succesfully sent back to my EmailStatus variable in the Flash Movie. But does that mean the mail was succesfully sent???
Or am I just sending back a message???

Returning HTTP Status Codes (401, 403, Etc) To Flash 8
Hi all,

I'm using AMFPHP on the server-side and Flash remoting classes to communicate with it. Everything's working great, but i'd like Flash to be able to recieve HTTP status codes from the server.

For example, if on the server side (in PHP) I go:

header("Status: 401 Unauthorized");

I'd like the remoting service on the flash side to be able to get the HTTP error code (401 in the example above).

I know this is possible with [url=http://livedocs.adobe.com/flash/8/main/wwhelp/wwhimpl/common/html/wwhelp.htm?context=LiveDocs_Parts&file=00002333.html]LoadVars.onHTTPStatus[/url] but it doesn't seem to deal with using it with Flash Remoting.

I have seen flash advertisements that stay at one browser coordinate regardless of scrolling or resizing. The ad goes over the html on the page whether it's text or an image. It's not a popup. I think it might be some type of include file. I want to make my flash stay at the footer of a page no matter where you scroll. Does ANYONE have more information on how to do this? Mozilla Status Bar Still Says Transferring (Flash) Data Even When Done
I have a normal html page that contains a small Flash file whose purpose is to load the contents of a text file. All works well, except that in Mozilla/Firefox the status bar says "transferring data from ht*p://etc" even after the data has been successfully loaded. I've noticed this not just on my sites but also on others where loadVariables is used to load external content. Has anyone come across this? All is well in IE.

Status Loader In Flash For Whole Page Not Just Flash Movie
Is it possible to have a status bar displayed on a page separately to give someone an idea how long their file will take to upload.

The file upload script is created in PHP when the user hits submit on the form. I want a flash status loader to go from 0% to 100% while the file is being uploaded.

the user can possibly press a button which says "time me" on it to start the status bar.

Not sure if this is possible but would be great.

The follwing code is in the first frame of my flash file to get values.

Flash Pop-up Menus
I want pop-up menus in Flash. The online help led me to the action script help, which led me to a dead end. I'm new to this, so may be overlooking the obvious. What resources would you recommend for learning how to do Flash pop-up menus? (Granted, a work around would be a go-to-frame, but there must be a smoother solution.)

Ok, I a flash menu. I have it so that when you roll on, it plays a scene. And when you roll off, it goes to the first frame. But my problem is that when you highlight the menu, a sub menu is supposed to come out. But when you try to click on the submenu, it disappears before you can click on it (Becuase of the rolloff command) So if anybody has an idea, I would appreciate it.

Can anyone give a good example of a drop down menu. I tried a menu by creating a movie clip containing buttons but the drop down action is very slow. I haven't used any bitmap or gradient for that matter. Please help.

Also is there some way of resizing a flash movie while loading in a browser. My idea is to allow users with different screen resolutions to view my movie similarly.
