Flash Player Not Playing On Reload In IE
Hey Everyone,

I have a weird problem and I'm hoping the answer has been posted here before but I just can't find it. I have a flash slideshow builder and it's pretty nifty. It produces this flash player that plays the slideshow and in Firefox, Safari and sometime IE it works beautifully.

However, on some PCs, in IE it plays fine the first time but clicking on play twice (to reset and then play again) or reloading the web page causes the player not to play. It loads up fine as far as I can tell but it just won't start playing.

On my buddy's laptop, same version of IE, flash, windows, it plays fine every time, but on most PCs on IE I can reproduce this bug.

I get the feeling it's something missing/wrong in the embed/object tag...but it seems like a flash issue that the play button doesn't work.

Flash Player Fail To Initialize On Reload..
Hi!

I have been using Flash and Remoting to make a dynamic content viewer. I have noticed that if I go to another site or another page on my site, and then go back to the flash, it fails to initialize.. The Flash contains three frames, the first frame includes netservices etc, the second frame gets data and the third frame shows it. I've made a textfield 'displayFrameNum' on each frame that displayes the frame number.
This is blank each time the flash fails to initialize.. It's like it can't get to the first frame?! Is this possible?
Specs: IE6, Flash Player 7, Remoting for .NET (It happens with the Java version as well..)

Does anyone have a solution, or maybe a hint on where to start looking?

How To Make SWF To Reload From The Start, Every Time User Reload/revist The Page.
Hi,
How can i make my flash SWF file to reload from the start every time when a user visit the site.

Like i dont want it to be saved in cache, i want to reload it from the start every time, because i have seen that once it is saved into cache, it just starts from the cache when we visit the site. So, i dont want it, i want it to reload again and again from the server whenever user visits.

I used the following meta tag:
<meta http-equiv="pragma" content="no-cache">

But it seems to be not working as the way it should. As when i re-load the page, the preload bar shows 100% loaded.

ANy idea???

Dynamic Image Reload Is Cached. Need Fresh Reload.
I'm calling a basic image from the web, but the image is constantly updated. When the end user clicks to reload, it displays the same cached image. How to I force it to reach out and get the updated image?

Not too savy with actionscript yet and could use some help.
FYI, this is a standalone exe flash file, not a browser embeded movie.

HELP How Do I Reload W/ Flash
I am attempting to finish up a Interactive Campus Map, however I am unable to figure out how to add a refresh button to the page, I realize that the browser provides one but I'd like to add one to the map so that the page can be reset in a Flash Player. I need the equlivient of a javascript Refresh Page like this or something [ history.go(0) ]. If you have any Ideas let me know. Also if you like to look at peoples work and give suggestions then plaes check out the map. It's really still beta but that will change over the weekend.

I am having trouble with stopping a level1 movie from level2 on a particular project. I know this worked on other projects, does this sound like I need to re-load flash? It seems to be ignoring the button script

I use Flash for my news on my website. But flash doesn't refresh the text, even if it is a new updated text file. The only way I can do this is if I go to options and delete temporary files. But for less expirenced users, I was hoping I could do it with a button from the flash application or just automatically without having to change settings, delete files or do any other basic function.

Opener.reload Through Flash?
I have a JSP page(ProjectOptions) that pops a new window with an SWT(Create) in it. This SWT(Create) does a loadVariable to another JSP(Save) which saves the data to a db. While the data is saving an SWF(Saving) appears in the popped up window completely covering Create. After the save is finished i need to refresh ProjectOptions. Please advise on how to do this...

Is there any way to stop a flash file (okay, I admit it - SWiSH file) from reloading itself everytime either the visitor returns to the index page, or if they just refresh it?

Do Not Reload Flash Header Help?
Hi!! i have a flash animated header on an html/php site. what i would like to do is have the header NOT reload, and NOT replay the entire animation upon refreshing, or changing pages. Normally i could just create 2 headers, one with the full animation, one with the looped animation. But on this specific project it isnt possible because it is a dynamic site, and my index.php reloads depending on the content. I would love it if somebody could lead me in the right direction on how to achieve the solution. I hope i explained this properly. thanks in advance!!

I am creating a small car racing game. On click of reset button I want the race to start again. i.e : play the flash movie again from starting.

One way to do this is, I need to take all the cars back at orginial position, clear all the variables etc. OR restart the flash movie? Is it possible to restart ther flash movie?

Flash Reload Issue
I'm having an issue with a Flash movie inside an HTML frame and the frame being reloaded by javascript. I have a DHTML open window button in the same frame as the reload button. If I hit the reload button, the Flash movie frame reloads and the Flash movie goes back to Frame 1, as is expected. If I click on the open window button, close the window, and click on the reload button, the Flash movie frame reloads, but the Flash movie goes to Frame 2. Is there any reason why the Flash movie does not reload to Frame 1?

Safari + Flash + SQL + Reload = 0
On this site: clearviewgalleries.com the site works fine until you hit "reload". Then it loses the database connection and you get no images or text (activity shows a call to an undefined image). I've tried reloading the PHP/XML file and that works... It's just the Flash. It won't work again until you empty the Webfoundation cache (same as emptying the cache and restarting Safari). I have another site, radioitalyusa.com that uses almost the same scripts and HTML but doesn't fail. The only differences are the Flash itself and that the Clearview site uses an external SQL server while the Radio Italy one uses the same box (or at least the external call is done outside SQL). They are on different hosts - iPower for ClearView and Yahoo for Radio Italy. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I've dug through all the code and Googled the problem, and I can't find anything that would cause this.

I have another button call 'Erase' button, once it is being clicked, all the moved items will return to its original position when the flash movie was loaded.

I'm using PHP to send variables in the URL so that my Flash movie that is embeded in an HTML page shows a different frame according to which HTML page is called. However, each page has to be reloaded for the Flash to show, b/c on first load it is blank. I've checked all the syntax but can't find the problem. The problem i have is each time a menuItem is clicked the flash menu reloads and the menuItem with submenu isn't shown.

Ie7 Flash Reload Problem
Has anybody noticed ie7 is caching pages with flash differently. I use a flash header for navigation around my site. However, if you log in you can see that your merely viewing a cach copy of the page you just visited. You need to actually refresh the page to update what it shows you. This problem doesnt exist on firefox or ie6 though.

I have been facing problems with the following actionscript. My main task is to avoid the flash movie to replay once a user clicks back button or visits the flash movie page. but this script is only working with Mozilla Firefox 1.0.6 Version browser and Its not at all working with the IE6 Browser.

Flash Menu In PHP: Will It Reload Every Click?
Hey everyone...

I've made a homepage (not finished yet)... but started thinking. i'm programming in PHP, and every link will call e.g. "index.php?id=1"...
This means that there's a new page on every click. But will this mean that flash will restart the movie every time? I have made a preloader, and I don't want it to start over... will it do this?

I know it will open the Flash-file faster because it has already loaded it, but it would be nicer if it would just stay on the same place in the movie...

Forcing A Fresh Reload Of Flash
Hi there,
I have made a flash homepage and have a problem with computer showing the latest version. At home all works fine. If i update the .swf file on the server the new version is displayed. However at work each machine remembers the .swf file in the cache locally on the machine and hence no updates are shown. Is there a way perhaps in the html coding to force the browser to reload the .swf file regardless.... or even better, compare the version on the harddisk and if a newer exists, to download and display that?!?

I'm trying to embed a swf into a page on a website we are creating. The swf plays fine in Fire Fox, IE will load the swf once and play just fine, but if you leave the page and go back, the swf is there but it no longer interacts with the user. I'm using the basic code that Dreamweaver 8 uses to insert a swf file, here is the code:

Flash Menu Reload Problem
Hey all! Well i'm new here and searched the forum and didn't exactly find my question so i'll ask it here. I have this menu that's completely on the timeline (bad practice i know) and i want it to stay in certain states. See here:

Basically when a user clicks on one of the items in the submenu (like office or tables) i don't want the menu the reload. I want it to stay in the same state. Any suggestions? Oh and thanks for reading those that did!

Flash 8 Image Load/reload

We are currently trying to create a map of manila city using flash, so far we have created the centre of the city to a high standard but want to extend and do the full city. the problem is the size of the map is about 20 times the size of the one we have already made meaning that it may need to be broken up into seperate images. Does anyone know the best way to do this? and also the code required for loading/unloading images that are in-use/not in-use.

Flash / Web Page Reload Question
On the main page of my web site I inserted a Flash object that plays an mp3 file automatically.

Problem is, when the user clicks on a link to go to an html sub-page then returns to the main page (using the browser's back button or the "Home" button I provide), the audio clip plays all over again. I do not want this.

How can I get the AS code on the main page to execute only once per session? I do not want the mp3 to keep auto-playing every time the user goes from a sub-page back to the main page. Only when a user formally closes their browser then reopens it and returns to the main page at a later session should the mp3 file play again. Thanks.

Reload Database Values To Flash
hi. hope anyone had this problem before. i can get all datas in flash from database by calling a PHP file and list them in flash. the problem is i need to reload the values again after clicking an update button. it updates the values in the database but im still getting the same values in flash even if the php file is called again when the button is pressed. ive notice that i have to close down my browser and reload the page before i can get the new values from the database.

Basically working on something where as, currently at any moment during the web page is open Flash receives a variable.. Needs to process that, then call a Javascript Function in the page or if this can't be done, sends a variable back to the page which javascript will listen for every 500ms or something like this...

Flash Menu In A Php Page Don't Reload?

I have a flash menu in a php page with the href links

Now it looks like the flash menu is being reloaded each time a menubutton is clicked. As my flashmenu consists of a simple slide-in submenu navigation, it doesn't show the slide-in animation.
How can i prevent this or fix this???

Don't Want To Reload Flash Movie When Hit Back Button
I have developed a seach engine with a group for a class. Initial loading of the page loads a flash movie (that includes the search block). When the user submits a search, a results page loads. QUESTION: how can I make it so that when a user hits the back button on the browser from the results page, the entire movie does not load again on the first page? Can I do this in Action Script?

hey peeps,

here's a very common question but i couldnt make any of the suggested solutions to work. so here's the scenario. my developer uses wordpress therefore cant do this with iframes or frame sets. and he refuses to try to come up with anything at all so im left with the one having to find a way to solve this problem with a flash solution.

we have a flash header that has the nav buttons too on our page, on each button click, the flash header+nav buttons reload which is annoying. so im trying to find a way so returning visitors would only find the swf to be loaded on the final frame of the swf where its all static, and all elements are done animating.

btw, my developer refuses to have 2 swfs too as i suggested we could do, where home would have an animated swf and the rest cud have a static.

i tried this so far and found no way out

ok this may be a really stupid question (and i'm sure i used to know the answer to it) but here goes.

I have a little banner that randomly selects one of 6 scenes to display using a switch statement in the first scene (see below). That part is working fine when I run it as a stand-a-lone file (outside of internet explorer).

To Not Reload From Start Flash Animation On Web Page

I've done a nice flash animation which is in fact an ad banner.
This banner should be displayed on my customer website in each pages.

However, in order to be sure that customers of my client will see the
whole flash animation, i would like to be sure that it's not reloaded
from the first frame.

is there something like a frames counter which can be memorized by PHP
pages server ?

i mean on page welcome.php, my banner will be displayed.
let's say that after few seconds (35 frames for example), the customer
click on a link "prices.php".
on this prices.php page my ad banner is once again displayed, but i
would like to make sure it starts from frame 36 for example, and not
from frame 1.

ok .. i'm new to flash. i'm looking for someone to point me in the right direction .. basically to tell me what i need to do to accomplish this .. i can dig for the info from there.

Flash Works One Time In IE, Fails On Reload.
A flash slide show we made works fine in FireFox, and works the first time you load the page in IE7 (From a fresh application open). Once you view it in IE, and go to another page, then go back to that url, or just refresh the page, IE (I Tested this on 3 computers). Just shows a while blank box where the slide images are located. The flash is still loaded because the controllers are showing, its just now showing/loading the images.

I would post a Url for your viewing, but this is my first post.

Any ideas?

Flash Menu Takes Long To Reload
Hi All

I have a static website which has flash based menus on the left hand side of the page. Every time a user clicks to load another page, the flash based menus also reload.

Is there any way the flash menus load only once and whenever a user clicks on the menu, only the target page text loads with the changed header. ? As it is taking time to re-load the menus on every page.

I've considered placing the menu sections in frames. Is this possible? If yes, what sort of implications will it have on the overall design of the website. If not, are they any alternatives to framing?

I appriciate any pertinent input on this.

Passing Variables To Flash Movie Without Reload?
Hi All,

Is it possible to pass variables into a Flash movie, and have the movie recognize this passing and do something, without reloading the page?

Specific example:

Let's say I have a simple Flash movie that displays a static logo, and then next to the logo there's a dynamic text field that displays some text - for simplicity let's say a city name.

So when you first load the HTML page, there's the Flash logo and a default value in the dynamic text field.

Then somewhere in the HTML portion of the page there's a link/Javascript/AJAX bit which, when clicked, passes a new value for that text field - in our example, a new city name.

Is there a fairly straightforward way to do this? Any help/guidance would be awesome!

The HTML page is built as a table with a flash movie placed in one of the cells. The problem is when a navigation option is clicked on the HTML page refreshes and reloads the flash movie therefore resetting it to the start of the movie.
I am using the goto URL command in the flash movie.

what options do I have here?
I am not actually building the HTML site - just the Flash animation for the HTML site - but the HTML programmer doesn't know what to do either.
