Hello...

I have been looking around to find out how to have the 'install flash player 6' automatically install when it is not already setup...

I have a script I am using to check for the flash player 6 and right now I am sending people to macromedia.com in order to download the flash player...

I have seen websites that will automatically start the download without ever leaving the website... Of course you have to agree to the download... but you never have to leave the website...

Can someone please let me know how to do this...?

I am having a bit of a problem with my Flash Player. When I go to the Macromedia Website to download it, it doesn't even download and it says Installation Successful. But when I try to open an .swf file it opens the Open With box like I wouldn't have Flash Player...does any1 know how to resolve this? Any help would be appreciated.

Flash Player Download For Those Who Don't Have It...
It has been brought to my attention that several people trying out my application keep getting the "Click here to download Macromedia Flash Player to be able to view the content of this page!" message...after the have already clicked the link, and downloaded the flash player, and restarted the browser...I can see the app fine on my computer, and I dont know how to uninstall the player to test it out for myself, but what could possibly cause this issue?

some people are reporting problems with Flash Player Version 6.0.47
I'd like to check that but I can't find it anywhere.
Macromedia only offers 6.0.79

Can anyone help me with the 6.0.47 plugin for Netscape or IE?

Why Can't I Download The Flash Player?
Everytimee i try to download the flash player, it says that the installation will be complete when i see the video at the top, but i never see it, even after hours of waiting. Why won't my computer allow me to download flash!?

I recently posted this on the Flash Player forum but I thought it deserved to be here as well.

I encountered another disturbing "Adobe Player" download experience the other day. I was on a site that required I download the latest Shockwave player. After the download was finished I got a pop-up window advertising some game site that uses the Shockwave player. I am very disappointed.

I don't remember Macromedia ever doing this, though perhaps I am wrong. Is this an Adobe idea from some people who have no idea what good web experience is trying to push up quarterly stock prices or generate income from some very misplaced value added scenarios? As a professional web designer/developer this is exactly the kind of encounter that makes me think just a bit less about creating a Flash/Shockwave based web solution.

When a company like Adobe creates a product (a plug-in, regardless of penetration rates) that is required to view certain sites or to use certain applications you would think that they would make its availability a smooth, quick and effortless experience. Why would they make you have to think about whether you want the Yahoo toolbar or want to see some game sites using the Shockwave player? This is perceived as what it is, advertising, and diminishes the Adobe brand.

When I create a situation where one of my site users is prompted to download the Flash Player, it is a delicate transaction, especially in today's web climate. Adobe needs to create a Flash Player download page that creates trust, necessity and stability. Their current solution is bad business.

Best Way To Download Flash Player
flash content is important. many times it is the absolute best way to present information, whatever standardistas say (though i am searching for the best way to incorporate flash content in standards based web sites). i am currently using swfobject to write flash and to detect the correct player version, and i am thinking about incorporating express install to push the flash player to users. what happens with this method when a user is in an environment when the it department allows no downloads of any sort? are these users stuck with flash player 6 or 7, or worse, 5? i need 8 at the least for its font rendering and superior video codec. what are your thoughts on this? thank you.

How Do DOWNLOAD Flash Player 9.0?
Some PCs where I work are not permitted to download files - so I am trying to download FlashPlayer 9 onto my Flash Drive to install on the machine - but this download site will only let me install it on this computer. How can I just get the download exe file?

this issue is on my home PC: i have been to the player download page above and successfully completed the download and install; i see the movie and message. when i return to internet, websites still dont work. they prompt me to download the player. symptoms are the install failed. i have returned the download page and successfully run install multiple times...still nothing.

previous versions of flash worked fine.

misc:
add remove programs does not display flash player 9 program in the list. (i can see the entry on my laptop on which flsh player 9 does work)

it doesn't seem to install properly. any ideas are much appreciated.

Can't Download Flash Player
No matter the browser I use, be it Chrome, Firefox or IE, I cannot download the flash player. I'm using Windows XP. When I click Add & Install, the dialog never appears. When I follow the link which says"If it does not start, click here to download" I get only a blank page as though it were a broken link.

I found some .zip file to download that was supposed to circumvent this problem here:http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/updaters/10/flash_player_update1_flash10.zip. However, once I'd uninstalled all Flash versions and then run the file I downloaded from the above link, Flash still failed to work and now my browsers all crash, saying something like Flash Plug-in failed. So now I uninstalled flash again and am worse off than when I started. Now I cannot seem to view any online video content.

Can't Download The New Flash Player
I have tried to download the new flash player a dozen times or more. I click on the download link on your page and I never get a box asking me if I want to save, run, or download the file. I never get a bar at the top of the screen about popups or file downloads.

All I get is the page that says "Download successfully completed" but I don't know where the file is downloaded to, and videos still won't play afterwards. When I click on the download link, the page immediately changes to the 'Success' page.

Why Download The Flash Player?
Hey guys. I've long thought that it is a bit arrogant towards the End-users to just have a "This site requires Flash 6" message on your splash. Most people have the player installed but what about the few sorry souls that don't have it, or don't even know what it is...

Macromedia's own Flash Player FAQ seems a bit directed towards the Flash-Designers rather than the poor sap who's just been asked to download and install software...

What I want to ask you guys is this:

Flash Player For Palm OS Download?
I read that Macromedia bundled the Flash Player in Sony Clies, which are Palm OS PDAs, so that must mean they have developed a Player for Palm OS. But I can't find anywhere to download the Flash Player for Palm OS on the Macromedia site. I even called Macromedia's toll free number, and the girl (who didn't seem very knowledgable) didn't know anything about it. Does anyone know where I can get the Flash Player for the Palm OS? Automatic Flash Player Download
I was wondering if it is possible to set up a script that checks if the visitor to a site has the latest flash 7 player and if not have it automatically downloaded. without the user having to go through the download prosses. I know flash has an option to publish the movie with a flash detector, but the detector only seems to work on a mac if even at all. On a PC an outline of the swf apears and the user is prompted to download the new player, I know from experience that people don't usually click yes when that box appears. I'm just asking because I've been getting emails from people saying they have been having problems accessing the site. I was hopeing to avoid an enter page that lists requirements, so if anyone could help me out that would be great.

This is not cool, i had to uninstall flash player 9 because the sound did not work and so i wanted to see if it will work if i reinstalled it, but now it wont reinstall. I have the activeX controls to prompt and downloading them as well to prompt but it still wont show a pop-up. Can someone help me please?

Everytime I try to download Flash Player 9.0 on a WinXP SP2 PC running Norton Internet Security, a dialog box pops up stating "Download Interrupted. Please Check your internet connection and try again." It continues to fail even thought my NIS is disabled and IE settings are set to minimums. Is there a FTP site to download the install from?

I'm running Firefox (on Windows), and trying to download Flash Player. On the page

I would like to be able to view flash! Is anyone else having problems with this? I'm going to open a case and see if that helps...but if there's an easy solution someone knows...

Flash Player Download Problem
I have been trying to use a program which came with my Sony digital video camera. It requires Macromedia Flash Player. I downloaded player from this site and download was successful, according to Adobe. However, the player can not be found. I have used the uninstall program to make sure all prior versions of Flash have been removed and followed all of the instructions Adobe recommends to remedy this issue. (outside of some the more ridiculous suggestions involving possible injury to system.)

I have wasted 2 days on this problem and have decided that even if there is some kind of block causing malfunctioning of the download, Adobe shouldn't be giving me a message that the download was successful when, in fact, it was not. Even when it is clear the player has not successfully downloaded and I try to download it again, Adobe tells me that I already have the program on my computer..... Yeah, well, where is it?????????

Steps taken to download:

1. Click on download. IE message prompting whether I want to run the add-on. I choose Install Active X control.

2. Message box to install the flash player. I click on Install

3. Webpage that says - When you see the installation completion movie above and text below, your installation was successful. But the player is not installed.

Way To Download Flash Player (for IE) Separately?
My boss sometimes goes to meetings where there is no internet access, but she has to show some stuff (html pages w/ embedded .swf pieces) we developed that must run in a browser. 9 times out of 10, the browser is Internet Explorer, and most of the time the browser doesn't already have the Flash player already installed.

I searched Macromedia's website for downloadable players for the two main browsers (IE and Netscape/Mozilla) and I got to this page:

I was able to download the separate extension for Netscape/Mozilla, but I was not able to do it for Internet Explorer. I tried downloading it using Firefox and Netscape, which always leads me to a page with instructions, but no appropriate link. When I try to download it in Internet Explorer, it automatically does it then jumps to a page saying it's done.

Bottom line: How can I download the Flash Player ActiveX for Internet Explorer (so that I can save it on a disk then install it on computers w/ no internet access)?

How to force a prompt for download new Flash Player 6.0?

I've build a website with Actionscript that needs Flash Player 6.0.
When someone visits the website who has no Flash Player; the prompt for download the Flash Player appears (correctly).
However when someone visits the website who has Flash Player 5.0, then nothing happens ..! He doesn't see anything, and there appears no prompt to download the new Player. He only sees the background color of the page, but no site...!
Anyone any ideas how to fix this?

Latest Flash Player Version Download
Hi,

If the visitor doesn't have the version of flash player required to view the swf, is the swf downlaoded to his computer anyway?

Basically, we have a flash movie of 100kb on one of our pages. It was downloaded(ie. played) 1000 times last month according to web log files. Does that mean that all 1000 visitors had the minimum version required to view the swf? Is it possible that 500 of them didn't have flash player at all, for example?

In other words, if the visitor doesn't have flash player at all(or version 3 when 6 is minimum required, for example) is the swf still downloaded to his computer?

Our goal is to determine how many visitors saw the swf movie.
