I've got a client who wants a flash movie i made for him turned into a screensaver...
anybody ever done this? it is possible is it not? anybody know of any good tutes, info on it???

Flash Screensaver
Does anyone know how to reliably launch a website from a Flash screensaver on both Mac and PC? I am creating a screensaver for a company and they want to have there web address clickable, and for some reason once you create the screensaver it doesn't work. It's almost as if the swf has to be in the player or in a browser to work.

The story so far, I’ve created a logo for myself and converted it into a font, I’ve then gone into my desktop properties (Win2000) and selected the flying text screensaver then selected my logo font as the text and I’m now seeing my logo being thrown about all over the screen as a screensaver.
I like this effect so much I want to have it on my web site, so the question is can I get this effect in Flash using AS instead of having loads of tweens? I want it to rotate, spin, see saw and bounce off the sides..now the only thing is that I will have to create the logo in a 3d prog then import into Flash.
Any ideas? If you have windows then select the flying text screensaver and that will give an idea of what I’m looking for.

Is it possible to get some software that will make a swf file into a screensaver, or use the flashplayer itself as a screensaver.
I need to create a flash file inbto a screensaver that can be distributed to other peoples computers not just work on mine.

I just made a flash movie and I am wondering if there is a way to set it as my screensaver? Should it be an movie? Or Flash? Exe? Then i don't know where to put it.

Flash Screensaver
I have a flash exe that has been converted to be a screensaver. When the screensaver is active, a user can click a button to increment a number (this tracks the amount of cigarettes they have smoked in a day)
However, each time the screensaver comes back the counter is set back to zero - it won't retain the number from the previous time it was on.
Although I realise it would be set back to zero if the machine is rebooted, is there anyway to maintain the counter while the machine is on i.e. throughout the day.

In my web application, I need to provide the users with the screensaver. If the screensaver is a common file, then there will not be a problem.
But the problem is, the users are allowed to upload images in the site, for which a a swf will be played with random animation ( or the animation they select)
Please find below the operations that has to be done
Eg. The member is allowed to upload the images and they can also select the list of animations from a dropdown list. when they click "next", they will see the image uploaded with the selected animation. In the next page, they can download the same as a screensaver.
Please let me know, whether any tool is available to convert the SWF to screensaver dynamicaaly in a web itself. I knew that there are lot of tools available to convert the swf file to screensaver. But that all will work offline as a desktop application for which we need to give the swf as input. But in my case, everything has to be done dynamically..
Any solution for this ?

Anyone have any experience making a screensaver for a PC w/ Flash?
A friend of mine is attempting to do this, and asked me for advice. Although I do have experience w/ Flash and animation, I have never actually tried to impliment it into a screensaver. I know there are several programs available for $50-$200 to convert Flash files to a screensaver, but I"d like to avoid spending that cash if possible (especially since x-mas is around the corner!)
Anyone have any thoughts? The screensaver would be a simple cartoon w/ minimal animation. Nothing too extensive.

Hello,
I have a piece of software that turns a flash file into a screensaver and it works great. I'm hoping to push this screensaver out to all our machines in our organization. The problem i'm having is importing some varibles from a file on our intranet server to this screensaver.
I'm aware of the secuirty restrictions but surely there must be a way to get around these since it is on our server.
Anyone got any ideas how to allow all these machines to access this file on our intranet server? Can it be done?

I have a requirement to produce a screensaver that would be capable of communicating with data from the web to be displayed in the form of a bars charts etc.
My initial thought was Flash might be possible to do it with. I have heard of the possibility of using flash to create screensavers before, but have never tried it.
My question is firstly does this sound possible? and secondly if i were to create a flash movie which accessed a remote xml file from the internet, when the movie is converted (i guess by using some third party tool?) to an exe file for the screensaver will it still a) work correctly with all the actionscript remaining intact, and b) Be able to access the data from the internet when run locally without any security issues?
Would appreciate anyones thoughts on this, or ideas if they know of a better way to produce a screensaver capable of communicating with data from a database or xml on the web.

With the help of Flashkit.com tutorials, movies and this board I have been able to come up with a few flash screensavers. I have only been using (addicted to)flash for a few months now. I was hoping someone could help...my latest screensaver works fine until the first loop. It is roughly a 3 minute movie with some animation, sound effects and a few action scripts. After the first loop an error message comes up. Stating flash 6 player is running slow please abort script. I'm not sure but I think the snow effect is causing the problem. Trigger Screensaver From Within Flash
Is there something in actionscript that does the following:
"if mouse doesn't move or clicks for more than ten minutes, play this movie"
Then while that movie is playing I need the opposite: "if mouse moves or clicks, play this movie at frame x"
I need to make an offline presentation, and I want the screensaver to be in flash itsself. When a user leaves let's say while he was browsing 'image gallery', I need the presentation to go to the main menu when the screensaver starts (or stops). Otherwise a new user will immedialtely be in the 'image galler' without ever seeing the intro or main menu.
Are these things possible?

I'm using actionscript 2 in flash MX.
I'm looking to create a screensaver effect for my movie.
Basically I need to implement a timeout effect which will listen for mouse movement and return the movie back to the initial homepage if nothing has been done for say 5 or 10 minutes.
Below is some code that I was given on a seperate forum. The code works ok. The only problem is that when the screensaver has been called once it then keeps calling it everytime the mouse is moved after. I'm guessing I need to implement a clearInterval command but I'm struggling with it.
Can anyone assist.

I don't know if anyone here can help with this one or not (or even if this was the best place to post this thread) but here goes.
I have a Flash movie that needs to be converted to a screensaver for my company. Sounds easy enough and there are tons of programs out there that create a .scr file and an .exe file to install it.
Here's the glitch. This is a production environment. Users do not have privileges to install software so we need a program that will convert to an easy installation -- all we need is a single .scr file that contains no addiitional files.
I hope that makes sense. I've been handed this task mid-project and am still figuring out what is needed. But I know they have tried a converter called Screenweaver and installation was not successful in the production environment.
If anyone has any input, great!

Flash Screensaver Probs
I'm currently making a flash movie to use a screensaver. The problem is that I have a button that opens a link from the screensaver, I need this button to also close the screensaver (it closes on a keypress normally). I've tried putting fscommand("quit","") in with the button, but it has no effect, the screensaver still stays on, does anybody know of another way that I could exit the screensaver? Maybe by simulating a key press through AS (which I have no idea how to do)?

I am trying to make a screensaver out of the flash (.swf) file that I made. But for some reason, it is not stopping on the first frame like it is supposed to (I inserted a stop(); function on the first frame). Has anyone else used this program? Flash 'Screensaver' Using SetInterval
After detecting that the user is idle for more than the wait time, the 'areyoustillthere.swf' movie is played. Which works fine.
But as this movie is played, i want to confirm if the user is really not there. So i need to detect his mousePos again. How do i do that?
