FLV Skin A/V Controls Not Showing Up
I've searched through all the books and can't find an answer for this one.

I have a couple of video clips loading to the stage via loadExternalMovieclip. The video clips were imported FLV's, given skin styles, and exported as SWF's. When I open the SWF's directly in FLash Player, all is well -- the controls appear and work fine. But when they are loaded into an empty, placeholder MovieClip, the skin does not appear!

For example, www.dreamlogicpictures.com. If you click the TRAILER button, the video loads and plays, and my custom CLOSE button works, but the A/V controls, which are in the SWF, are nowhere to be found.

No Playback Controls Appearing
I am trying to import my .swf file in to Powerpoint. The video is coming through correctly but my playback control
is not. I've checked the size and it is correct. Can anyone advise if this problem is on the Flash end or on the Powerpoint end?

Trouble Embedding Skin Controls

I converted a .mov file to a .swf file. In the folder on my website I have the skin, the movie and the flash video file. The movie plays, but I can't get the skin to show up. Fl.controls.list Crashes On 3rd Scene - No Skin Found?
Hello,

I have been using a fl.controls.list object for awhile now, which is placed in an external .swf which I then load into my main .swf.

Everything had been working fine until today. Today I rearranged the .swf and moved the list to the 3rd scene in the movie.

Now whenever I get to that scene, the list crashes, with the following code. Is there something I need to to do include certain resources in that scene?

[CS3] Embed Flash Video W/ Skin
I have been trying to do this for a while now...I cant seem to get the skin to play when the movie is playing. I embedded it with flash and that is the only time I see the controls on the video. When I open it outside of flash, all I get is the video with no skin. How do I "link" them together.

I looked at the sticky thread and read that but it didn't say anything about the skin. Thanks!

Flash Video Skin Not Working
Dear all,
i have a flv video file and i import this file in flash and made a Video Skin(SteelexterbnalAll) for that flv file.
Later i uploaded into Windows 2000 web server.When i accessing that file that flv file is playing properly and i am not able to find out the Video skin.
In windows 2000 server Machine i didnot install a Flash 8.It's having only a Flash Player.

Skin Not Showing In Video Flash 8
I have a swf that has three buttons. Each button loads an external movie clip into a movie clip (holder_mc). The three buttons are "Video", "Map" and "Links".

The video button loads a swf called "TorVideo.swf". This swf is just an instance of the Flash 8 video component, with parameters set to my video and with autoskinHide set to FALSE. If I test the this swf (TorVideo.swf) it plays the video with the selected skin showing... perfect.

But, when I run my main swf, click the "Video" button, and then "TorVideo.swf" is loaded into "holder_mc", I get the video, but NOT the skin. I have resized the holder_mc, resized the video, everything I can think of, but I can't get the video and skin to appear in holder_mc.

Has anyone had this issue? Am I just being a total newb? It is driving me nuts

Images Not Appearing In Page With Flash Movie
I have a flash program that I am putting into an html page. On the html page I have some .gif images. The .gif images do not appear when the flash movie is on the html page. Sometimes I can see part of the image, but most of the time not at all. When I delete the flash movie an upload the file the images appear, so I know that my paths are right. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

How Do I Specify Where A Skin Is Located When Publishing A Flash Video?
I'm creating Flash video's using the Import/Video wizard. When I go to publish the video, I want the HTML file located in a different (parent) directory from all the other video files, so that all my HTML files for the site are in the root directory. The problem is when I change the publish settings to create the HTML in a different location, the video works properly but it doesn't find where the skin is located and the skin doesn't show up. I thought it would be simple to just change the HTML code to point to where the skin is but I can't locate any references to the skin (name or location) in any of the HTML code. How do I change the code to accurately reflect where the skin is located???

Flash Video Skin Not Loading In Firefox
Hello everyone, I'm having a bit of trouble with a Flash Video file. I'm helping a friend out by doing some work on his webpage. He had a video that he wanted to put up on his news page, so I converted the video to an flv and used the flv player component to make a video player linked it. I uploaded the skin's swf file, the player's swf file, and the flv to the same directory. I made an iframe pointing to the player.swf file in the news section of the site. I tested it in IE; it works like a charm. Video loads, skin loads, and it plays etc... but in any version of firefox, only the video loads and just sits there (autoplay is off). What can the problem be? Link : (should work in IE, not FIREFOX Here . Once you can recover from the reporter's amusing slack-jawed mug, please help me out!

Problem Displaying Flash Video Skin
Hi All,

I've recently started using Flash 8. I have uploaded an flv and it is linked into my flash movie as a progressive download.

Testing it locally it works fine, however when I upload the Video works fine and downloads. However unlike with the local version the the control panel of the skin used it not there on the uploaded version, while it all work fine when tested locally.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Flash Video Not Fitting In Skin Player

Work-around For Flash 8 Video Not Appearing On Older Versions

People walk onto a green screen and I key them out in After Effects, export them as FLV Flash version 8, and import the FLV into a SWF file.

I have a code set in place to have a filler image appear in case the user does not have Flash installed.

* My problem is that anyone with Flash 7 or lower see only a blank area where the people should appear.

Does anyone have a suggestion to help with this issue? i.e. Perhaps a message could appear asking the user to update? Or even have the image replacement set in motion using JavaScript?

Your assistance/guidance/opinions are greatly appreciated.

Flash Controls Not Showing On Web Page

DW8 and Flash Pro 8.

Import Flash video and adding controls.

Here is the problem:

If I create the .swf files for the movie and skin and then save them to the same directory as the Flash video file and then view the .swf file everything works fine.

If I then create a web page using DW8 and insert the Flash into the page and save the web page to the exact same directory as all the other files and then view the web page in a browser, it works fine. However, if I create a new web page in DW8, save it to any other directory other than the one where the .swf and .flv files are located and then view the page in a browser only the .flv Flash video portion of the movie will display in the browser--the controls are missing. However, if I browse directly to the .swf file and avoid going through the DW8 generated web page the Flash movie displays properly with the controls in the correct location. My question then is why will DW8 not show the Flash movie with controls if the page is located in higher level directory than the .swf and .flv files and yet browsing directly to the .swf file with my browser works just fine? I have checked the path to the .swf file in the DW8 source code and it is pointing to the correct directory location. This is so strange--why will it display one way and not the other? Any ideas?

I've been working on creating a video control for flash swf movies that allows stop, play, rewind and forward.

I manage to make the stop, play and rewind function werks but not for the forward.

How do i create a forward button that loads other swf movies?

Flash Video Controls
I'm working on a project and I need a little help.

It's a little flash animation to go along with a video. I've been embedding the external video just to synch up the animation and the video, but I know that embedding the video won't work for the final product.

I want to use my own buttons to control the entire swf. I'm not sure how to edit the default button skins that load with the progressive video, and I don't know if they would also control the animation that I'm creating in Flash.

Flash Controls Content Of HTML Page
I have a flash menu for the top of a website that is sat within a table.
I have used tables within dreamweaver to arrange the content.
I have two tables underneath the menu area (one for content and one for adverts and other things). I'd like the flash menu to control the content of those tables.

i.e. The flash button on the menu can point to either the table or probably more likely the <div> tag within that table. As <div> tags can have ID names.

It was my assumption that you would use GetUrl command to point to the ID name used on that particular <div> tag. Is this correct?

I know that GetUrl can point to a frame name, but I didn't want to use frames.

I aim to change the content of a table or div area with a button in flash. If anyone has any other solutions, I'm all ears as I'm about to start this project and I'm scared I'm going up the wrong path.

I Can't Get The Flash Movie Controls To Display In A Web Page
Hello,

(I have posted this in the DW forum as well)

I'm fairly confident in DW but still getting to grips with Flash, however...

I created a flash movie from a small .wmv sample clip went through the Flash standard import and convertion steps, chose the standard buttons and published it!

The video worked fine in the flash preview (and in the HTML preview) and the video controls also work just fine, I even have all the files saved into a single folder.

I then embedded the .swf file into my page on DW and still got the grey box which shows there is a flash file I then previewed it in a browser and the controls do not show, I even uploaded it to my server to try it live on the net and still the same problem.

I'm much more of a designer than a coder and I looked over the coding and it 'appeared' to be fine.

What simple idiotic thing am I not doing...?

I'm using Dreamweaver & Flash CS3

Autohide Flash Video Controls
Is there a way to auto hide the Flash video controls so that when the player starts, the controls are hidden until rolling over of the movie? Basically I want the exact opposite of what it does now which is it shows the controls and only hides them once you rollover the video.

Help With Flash 8 Video Playback Controls

I have built a video player in Flash 8, and it shows the loading progress, and the play progress, but I can't get it to set the video to a specific point when you drag the progress dot.

For example, on YouTube, you can click the circle button and drag it to where you want to be in the movie.

I cannot seem to find any Flash tutorials that have good video player .flas, and I can't seem to code that part myself. Can someone please assist me with this?

Help Creating A Flash Menu That Controls An Html Page
S'up, I'm new here so I'd first like to say: hello, I'm glad to be a part of your guys forum

On to the question,
I'm trying to create a flash navigation bar to navigate my html page. I want the flash menu to be 'aware' of what html page it's on, i.e. the menu button linking to a page will be grayed out if you're already on that page. I've seen info for this assuming we're linking thru an entirely flash webpage, but that it is not the case for me.

See how his navigation buttons change color on rollover, and then change color again/become disable to show you which page you're currently on?

I've scoured the web looking for how to do this, and i've found out that you need this code in your html,

but, how do i get ActionScript to read that value, and use it to determine which button to disable?

Flash Video Play Does NOT Display Controls
I am using Flash Pro 8 - putting FLV files in SWF files using Flash Pro 8 and then "publishing" to Html and SWF to a location on my hard drive.

When I display the webpage from my Hard Drive from where ever on my hard drive I initially published to from Flash 8 Pro - everything works fine - videos play and video control bar shows and works.

When I publish this website to web server the video displays and plays but NO Video Controller Bar (at bottom of the video) shows at all.

Symptom: when I make an Html, SWF and FLA file into a folder on my hard drive and display them in the browser the video control bar shows. When I copy those three files into the hard drive website in FrontPage, the video shows but the video control bar does not.

So, I re-made the Html, SWF, and FLA files and put them directly into the FrontPage website (on my hard drive) then everything works fine when I use broswer (IE 6 or Firefox). z

But, when I publish the hard drive website to the remote website hosting company, the video control bar disappears - everything else works fine (video shows OK just no video controller bar.)

My guess is that the SWF file has a non-relative URL reference concerning the video control bar and when the three files (Html, SWF and FLA) are moved to new location then that non-relative address rears its head.

I should NOT publish from Flash 8 Pro directly to remote webserver as it has FrontPage Extensions and does not like to talk to FTP changes to website not coming from FrontPage client.

is my guess right? What to do?????

[F8] Problem Displaying Controls W/flash Video & How Do I Redirect Vid At End To Url?
I'm currently using Flash 8, and have two questions.

1. This is more of a problem, but I imported a video into flash, and instead of using one of their controls, I opened up one of theirs, changed the color, saved it as something new, and put the swf in the /Skins/ folder. There's also a copy of the swf in the older where the flash video was saved, I believe it did that on its own. The controls show when I open the html page on my hard drive, but not when I upload it, and I've uploaded everything in the folder. Any idea what I could be doing wrong?

2. Is there a way to redirect the flash video to another URL when it reaches the end? I'm using an FLV, and I've viewed many different articles about event cue points, but I don't quite understand it. As far as I got was trying to add cue points from the component inspector, but in the Flash Video Cue Points box, it says, "Note: Event and Navigator cue points are not editable."

I tried another method, where they mentioned Advanced Settings in the Import Video Wizard, but I never saw any such button.

Video Skin
hi,

To play a video in flash using actionscript (which loads at runtime), you drag a new video clip from the library to the stage.
Then you can create buttons to play, stop etc.

The problem is I wan to create professional buttons on the video clip instead of my own sloppy efforts.
Can I use a pre-made skin for the video somehow in actionscript?Like the one you use in FLVPlayback component.

Page Titles Appearing On Top Of Each Other
I've edited the Closeup template for my cycling club by adding another item in the menu and created a movie for the new item, however, when I click on a menu item the title that slides in from the left sometime has another title mixed in with it. http://www.ellanvannin.cc

I thought first that maybe the button area was too large and possibly overlapping another title's button but after resizing the problem still re-occurs. Any ideas please -it's starting to drive me nuts!

[F8] Skin A Web Page Using Shared Objects?
I'm trying to create a Flash app. that would allow the user to select a Flash "skin" or theme (from a selection of 4 or 5) to personalize a web page. I would like the theme to stay selected if they navigate away from the page, refresh it or close the browser and then come back again. I'm assuming there must be a way to do this using shared objects?

FLVplayback Skin Shows On Web Page

I have an FLVPlayback component on the stage. When I press a button it loads an flv movie clip. However if I do not press the burron, the skin of the FLVPlayback component shows on the web page. How do I prevent this from happening ?

FLV Video Not Appearing
I have been trying to convert some VOB video files to flv files.

I have used a converter to convert the VOB files to MPG. These mpg files display fine when I launch them within Windows. When I create a new flash file and import the video, the video appears as a 32 by 32 black square. I have included play controls but pressing play, nothing appears. However the progress bar moves along as if it is playing. There is no sound either.

Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

[F8] Vanashing Video Skin In DW8
I have made a flash file to show commercial video clips using Flash Slide presentation. Each video is on a different slide and uses a control skin added when the video is imported. The navigation works a treat and when the movie is tested in Flash8 it works seemlessly. I have imported the SWF file into my clients web site in DW8 but the video control skins just disappear when the html is proofed in IE6.

Another problem is that if you leave one slide the video keeps playing unless it is stopped with the skin control. It would be better if the video stopped when another slide was selected.

Any help would be much appreciated

Where's The Skin Of My Video Player?
HI!

I'm new to working with flash and in particular with embedding video clips, which is what I"m trying to do here.

Using the wizard, it created 3 files, an HTML, SWF and a flv file.. so what I'm not understanding is about the 'skin' of the video player that I chose in my my wizard process.. it's not showing up and the final screen in the wizard says:

"The video component uses a skin that has been copied next to your .fla, this also needs to be deployed to your server"

um what? no intiendo.. where did the skin go? and how do i get it to show up?

Video And Skin As Single SWF
Hi,

can someone pleeeeeeeeeeease explain why I cannot import a DV video to FlashCS3, add a skin and then publish as a single SWF file ?

I have a requirment that the skin needs to be in the same SWF as the video.

I have a feeling that this is the kind of question that gets asked all the time but I have been unable to find an answer.

I think there are third party tools that will do this, but surely it's possible inside Flash???
I can't work out a way of doing it without ending up with one SWF for teh video and another for the skin.

Video Skin Problem...

I have this page here http://www.websconsult.com/cuthbert/...e-profiles.asp with 4 flash encoded videos on it it, with flv and swfs for each.

The problem is in the skin controls at the bottom, there's supposed to be a triangle where you can move to move the playback where you want, or where it is at in the video stream but it does not always show. Some videos do have it but some don't.

Anyone know the problem? THe flash swf was export in FLash 8 format.

[CS3] Positioning For Video Skin Swf?

I'm not sure if I one problem or two problems, in the wrong positioning and visible button states, but I'm hoping someone can help me find where I did wrong.
I'm using Dreamweaver and Flash CS3, but when I select, in Dreamweaver, Insert->Media->Flash Video, it provides details for Flash 7, so I republished the SWF as Flash 7. Still doesn't work.
Any idea?

Where Is My Skin On My Embedded Video?
I created a few Flash videos and embedded them on a site I'm building for a
customer, you can see 2 of them at this link...

If you look at the "Partnership for a Drug Free America" video you will see
the skin shows up fine, if you look at the "Coca Cola" video you will see
that the skin doesn't show up at all. I checked the .flv properties in
Flash and the path for the skin is set exactly to where the skin is in the
"television" folder on the site. This makes no sense at all because the
skin shows up on one video but not on the other. Can anyone tell me what
the problem might be? I'm stumped!

Video Skin Does Not Show
I'm playing around with importing video. It seems to work fine, but the skin doesn't show. I uploaded the skin SWF file, but it's just a video, no skin. In looking at the HTML, I don't even see a reference to the skin, but wasn't sure if it was just embedded in the SWF. Any help?
