Hey,

Put simply, all i want to do is be able to make flash websites, the closest i got was making bottons that had actions that went to a certain fram and played that part then stopped, you would go back to the frist frame and continue that.

Then i talked to a person and he said that his entire movie was one frame filled with movie clips, could someone please tell me how this works?

i am interested in designing a website with flash. i am looking for a tutorial or an example .fla file that i can get started with because my knowladge of making websites with flash isnt the best. i did a tutorial search on flashkit and a google search but both came up empty.
does somebody have any example .fla files or maybe know of a tutorial that could get me started?

I know the basics of flash. Ive done many "noob" tutorials in my time, but i wanna get into flash web design now.

I mostly do my graphics in photoshop and get someone else to code it, i hate doing this becuase its hard to explain exactly what i want the coder to do so i wanna be able to make my sites in flash.

2 Questions: Firstly, is it possible to do my graphics like i do in photoshop and somehow animate it all in flash?

Secondly: I have no clue how to make a website in flash, like, how links work and such, is there any tutorials out there which actually give instuctions on making a really simple site in flash with like a couple random links? just so i can get "jist" of what on earth it invovles.

Hello, my name is Andrew. I'm fifteen, and have taken a web design class over the past school year. I only learned HTML and some advanced picture editing. A waste of my time, in that time i could of learned PHP, perl, javascript, XHTML, HTML, Dhtml, and other languages. Anways, I want to venture into flash-based web design. I have a couple references, but was really wondering if you guys have any really good ones for a new person in flash.

Heres what I want to know and request references to:
1. Basic web design in flash
2. Ways to update the website in "live" time. (I don't have to modify the flash file, just a text or XML file.)
3. Maybe an example file that I could like

Don't go out of your way for me, if you have a reference in your favorites or somwhere, please provide, but if not it's fine.

Looking For 3d Flash Websites
A while ago, I saw a website that was in a gas station, made entirely in 3d. When you clicked on different parts of the website, it would zoom in to another section etc..

Also there was one that was a desk(made in 3d) and you could manipulate objects in the desk.

Im looking for sites that use 3d for intereactivity in flash. Anyone know any, or can direct me to a few.

Flash Websites - Where To Look 4 Help
I am a web and graphic designer (www.jeti.com.au). I normally use Dreamweaver but am trying to build a site in Flash. I have a copy of "Buliding Flash Websites for Dummies" but it is turning out to be pretty useless. I'd love to find another comprensive resource.

Things I'm currenly trying to work out include:
Making a horizontal scroll bar.
Understanding how to split my site up into separate URLS (for each page)
Making hyperlinks that change colour on rollover.
Whether I need to use CSS if all of my text is static, and if so how to do this.

I'm sure there will be other issues as I proceed too.

Any online or hard copy resources you could recommend would really be appreciated.

Hi guys,

First time poster.
I am a web developer working in PHP, Javascript and JSP.
I am looking to start building websites in flash also.

I was wondering if I could get some direction in terms of tutorials or elsewhere on this forum for help in this regard.

One quick question - Is it best to have multiple scenes, 1 for each page or have them all as frames in 1 scene. BTW, I am planning on implementing XML integration with the site if that is of any consequence.

Can't Use Flash Websites
My child cannot play any games on disney or polly pockets website because it says we do not have flash. I downloaded flash, cleaned all the cache, and history and tried again. No luck. When I go to program files, I could not find where the program downloaded. When I went to the MM site to download flash, it says I have the software. Please help if you know what I have done wrong.

for some reason i can't get pages with flash, such as www.rr.com to load. i've reloaded flash and did ever check and repair i can but nothing seems to work. i even reset the IE setings. new computer as of a week ago and worked fine, then i set up a home network and now no flash pages. help?

I need a bit of help. I'm all a bit new to the whole prospect of actionscripting, and what i've done (against recomendations) is built a website using flash,a nd broken it up into seperate swfs. What i need to do is use the fetch url command, to link them together, but sadly, i don't have a clue on how to make it so that when you fetch it, the new page replaces the old one. Instead i'm getting new browser windows, which i realllly don't want.

Most of you probaly know, if you load a .swf file on a .html page you have "activate the controls" and it gets the little brown box around it.

Is there anyway to get rid of it?

Heres and examples, look at the menu, you dont need to click on it to activate the flash.

Best Ads For Flash Websites?
Hi,

I had a website built for me to display images on a kind of map, and users can view them and when you scroll over them cool things happen....

When you click and image it goes into a box and you can select up to 4....

My problem is that these images will be ads, and my business plan was to sell the ads based on a CPM model, but my web guy said that its hard to get high page views and to integrate ads into Flash....

Is this all true?

Anyone here have any options for me?

I've always wanted to make my very own flash website, much like this one! I wanted it to all be in flash though... First off, how do I make a text box? I want to make a "news" section and a WebLog sections where people can read it!? I want it to have a scroll bar and stuff like that... I don't know how!?

Another question would be, is there an easier way to update the content besides opening up flash and adding more text? Can I like, edit an html file and it'll update the text in flash? Maybe like a frame?

How do I actually organise the target of the links?

Say, if I were to click on a link to an URL, do I make the current frame jump into :
1)another scene?
2)another keyframe?

Or did I miss the mark altogether? Please tell me how is it usually done if it's not one of the two methods I stated above...

Loading Websites In Flash
Hey,

Is it possible to load HTML into a dynamic text box, so that if I were to later, say next week, change the text to my site, have different font sizes.

Example:

Right now my text box is loading a variable from blah.txt, and tomorrow I want it to change the text, with a BIG bold headline, but with a .txt file you can't change font size. If I could just make it an html document, then I could include different font sizes.

Websites Opening Behind Flash Doc....
Hey all,

I am wondering why, when the flash file is in Full Screen Mode, any link that I open whether it be a website or .pdf file: It opens behind the flash file now. So now, you can't see you've opened it..

Any ideas as to how to get it to open the right way?

Hello All,

I am considering doing an entire site in flash, I am used to creating sites in dreamweaver and occasionally inserting flash content.

My Question is , How do you make your movie fill the browser window so you can't reveal the edges when you pull the window bigger?

I've noticed on other flash sites that this enlarges the whole movie, I'd like to know how this is done.

Would someone please point me in the direction to design/dev Flash based websites???

Is this a Publish/HTML function? Or export as movie and embed? Or something else? I have developed a site and placed the swf in a Dreamweaver file that then went online. Although its 99% Flash, it looks and acts like a traditional HTML site. I want to create the player window that you've seen in true Flash websites...it is about 50% smaller than your monitor and lacks an address field, back button, etc.

Please provide a direction toward a solution and I'll do the rest! Thanks.

i.e. where the content AND animations change dynamically.

I still have problems with the browser caching old Flash movies.

When creating a flash website should you build the entire website in one .fla? I thought it would be easier that way. OR should they be seperate .swf files and links should be play movies? I noticed from viewing other web pages that they have a pre-loader and that loads the entire web page so there is no waiting(well only at the beginning). Just wanted to know the best course of action.

I am a very newbie web designer, well I wouldn't even go as far as to call myself a web designer but i'm starting!!

I am very proficient with photoshop and have gotten to grips with very basic animation in Flash MX. But that was learned by fumbling and just jumping in at the deep end.

I am now working on a site for a friend and want to use as much flash as possible and would like some tips on how to use action scripts or make links.

Other than that the general design principles on a flash website, as in are the individual pages different scenes or seperate animations. how to integrate a preloader etc.

If anybody would care to help I would be very grateful.

Stuff About Flash And Websites
Hi all.
I'm a new person using flash MX 2004 for animations, but i want to create a homepage for my fans. So i'm not too great on actionscripting, most of my stuff comes from here. But i had a few questions i could not find anywhere on this site (or i'm just too lazy ).

I've seen several preloaders. Anyone have an idea how to do this?

Make a graphic i've created appear from left to right as the loading bar, showing whole graphic when finished and then with a loading #% below that changes to the play button.

I'm pretty good with other-than-actionscript flash so doesn't have to be for mental vegetables.

Next:
How do you include the flash document in the html coding so it appears? Do you need to upload the .swf?
Please be clear.

Also, could anyone provide a link to a good article about making flash popups?

Modzilla And Flash Websites
Is it common for people using the modzilla browser to have problems surfing onto flash sites? Like only half the website comes up or is it only me? I noticed a few sites that are non flash also appear wrong and cannot scroll across the whole page. Is this something there is no solution to yet?

Centering Flash Websites?
Hi people,

I've designed a website in flash but I don't know how to center it horizontally as well as vertically. I know that if I ad a <center> tag, that centers it horizontally only. Does anyone know how to center it so that when you re-scale your browser, the website remains centered bang right in the middle? (I've posted the same question in other forums but no one seems to want to help me :-( )

When i upload my flash website the links to other websites work perfectly but when i put the flash files in the HTML editors they dont work. I have tried using both bravenet and geocities.

Movies On Flash Websites?
Hi,

I'm making a portfolio website, and I want to put some animations with playback controls on it. I have tried to embed the quicktimes as swf files in the main swf, but for users that have a lower internet connection speeds it does not work very well.

I want the to movies to stream. How to I do this?

i have looked on other sites at flv's and flv players but I need some to break it down for me in an easy way or suggest a good tutorial.

Updating Flash Websites
I have a flash site set up on my school server. In order to update my site, I access various files on our live w:/ drive and make changes in Flash Pro. I save these changes, and publish the files again in hte same location, using the same file names.

However, after I make these changes, if I access the website online through the internet, they do not appear. Even after clearing my internet cache, deleting temporary internet files, and refreshing, the new changes do not appear.

If I access the files on the w:/ drive, the edited versions appear.

What is the best way to update flash sites?

Websites With Flash Not Loading
My browser is IE7, after installing Macromedia Flash Player I am still unable to view websites with flash, I have checked add ons in the browser settings and it shows that flash is enabled, in addition I use McAfee Security Suite.

Any assistance as to solutions or settings I can try,/change would be appreciated.
