Interactive Map Not Working In Safari Browser (Macintosh Machine)
Hi,
I've an interactive map to locate some places. Eveything is working fine in pc. but it's not working in safari (Macintosh Machine). While clicking the buttons at the bottom of map, the map is not scrolling to locate the position.

As far as I know the browser acts as like a tool to display the flash content. Everything is rendered by flash player.

But why it is happening like this. The flash player (Ver 8.0) I've tested is same in PC and Mac machine.

any pic i apply an alpha of less than 100% is completely blacked out in Safari 2 on Intel Macs

any button I make as a movie_clip turns out pink or purple.. for that matter any text inside a movie_clip turns into a rainbow of various violet and purples..

wondering if there is a workaround for this...

Swf Slows Down In Browser (safari)
hey kirups, has anyone had problems with a movie "dragging" in safari? The speed is fine when I launch it sraight from the swf but is noticeably slower when viewed through safari. Any comments/suggestions?

Safari Browser/javascript Issue
I made a flash site where some of the buttons open the link in a new, small window. It works fine in all browsers but Safari. In Safari. the scroll arrows don't work. The code I used is pasted below. The URL for the site is:

Has anyone noticed this when building a flash app in mx 2004 pro? Its driving me crazy. I know the rules and reg on setting all my coordinates on the whole integer, alias'ing my fonts etc...

However, knowing al of this and doing what I had always done before in Flash mx isnt working when buidling my sites in mx 2004 pro. I preview the app in win IE and mac Safari. Safari looks great, but when viwed on a win machine, the 8 pixel font size is un-readable....all fonts look horrible and tiny. This is mainly just on my dynamic text fields...but still, my static text fields that use the same pixel font look crappy on the win browser..

aahhhhhhh

this thing is making me go gray quicker than I'de like to. any help would be fantastic.. My deadline is quickly approaching and I'm freakn out!

My webpage will not come up on the Safari Browser(Mac). I am using Flash MX 2004, it says it should work. I am creating and publishing from a PC computer. What do I need to do to make it work in a Safari browser?

[Help] Mouse Wheel Event In Safari Browser
I use the mouse wheel event to zoom a map. It works fine in Firefox and IE... but Safari just scrolls the entire page Flash is loaded into (not the map within Flash).

Anyone know of a way to get Safari to recognize mouse wheel within Flash?

Safari Browser And The Drop Shadow Filter
Hi All,

I've created a plethera of components for a site I've built. A few of these components need to have a DropShadow on them. SO I use the DropShadow Filter to implement this dynamically. no worries. all works good.

When testing in IE and Firefox, all is good. However, in Safari on MAC, the drop shadow seems to flicker and grow stronger in terms of shadow strength.

I was wondering if anyone has come across this problem before, and / or could provide a solution?

Scrollpane Blank On Browser Refresh (safari)
Hello all,

Hope you can help me out on this problem. I have a scrollpane that is loading an external mc into it. Everything works great, BUT when I refresh the page by hitting the refresh button on the browser toolbar the root movie shows, but the scrollpane does not load. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Prolly something very basic, but I am new to actionscripting.

FLV In Safari Not Working
Hi All!

I've been lurking around here for about a year now, and I've learned quite a bit from this site since then.

My FLV videos aren't playing when trying to view it in Safari (2.0.4) online. Weird thing is, Safari works completely fine LOCALLY. Something is causing the flv's to fail (when trying to view them in Safari) once it goes up on the web server, but works fine with every other browser I've tested it on (PC: FF 1.5.0.9, IE 7; MAC: FF 1.0.7).

Does anybody have any kind of insight to what's going on here?

Open Browser Window Centered: Problems In Safari
Just having some issues with the following "open browser window centred" script working in Safari.

It's adding "%20" onto the end of the "home.html" for some reason and therefore the popup window is getting a page not found error. Any ideas? Or if you know of a better script can you please post it up.

i've noticed that when i view my 750w flash pixel site in a large safari browser that the browser seems to accept mouse clicks outside of the actual dimensions of my movie that effect my movie. does anyone know why this is? thanks...

Problem With A Flash Menu In FireFox/Safari Browser

I'm looking for some help with a flash menu i have create for my web site it works 100% in microsoft explorer but in fire fox or safari i have a problem. The menu is set to transparent as their are drop down menus from main nav bar, in fire fox you can see the text just below the menu bar but cannot touch any links but in explorer you can no problems.

I've just had an email from a client telling me that he's just downloaded Safari ( A browser for the MAc OSX) and that he can't view the flash I've placed on the site for him.

Now this is slightly worrying of course as he's saying he's dumping I.E. But anyway why would this happen..any ideas on the subject..I need help quick.

I have been a PC user for the last 10 years, and just a year ago, I shifted to MAC. I haven't done anything on my website so I thought I'd update it today. The problem is, my AS is not working on SAFARI but works when it's played on the FLASH PLAYER. I have doubled checked my script and it seems to be ok so far. I need a second opinion on this one.

I have a javascript line in my movie that runs a function containing:

This works fine on the PC in both IE and FireFox, but not on the MAC (Safari, IE, FireFox). Has anyone successfully used the SetVariable method on the Mac browsers?

Flash Player Not Working In Safari
I installed the latest version of Flash Player for the Intel Mac.
For some reason it has erased flash player and I can not see any swf files on the internet webpages.

I uninstalled and reinstalled serveral times.
Cleared history and cache and restarted the computer.

I have tried everything and still flash files dont show up in the safari browser.
I never ever had this problem with Macromedia was in control. Since Adobe took over.
I have had nothing but technical problems.

Can anyone help me?

I have a dynamic text field where I create an html link based on a couple of pieces of data.

My problem is that the popup works fine in Windows IE, Mac/Win Firefox just fine. It won't work in Safari. It shows as link, but when you click, nothing happens. Can anyone think of a reason why this wouldn't work?

GetURL Not Working Properly In Safari
getURL("index2.html", "_self");

is an action I use at the last frame of my movie. It works fine in windows. But I just got a macbook pro and in Safari the movie just keeps looping without ever going to index2.html. Weird as well, is the code that embeds the movie in the html page says not to loop... ?

What do I need to do to make this thing run thru once and jump to the next page in Safari? The actual page is at

HtmlText Links In Projector Not Working On Safari?

I have a projector both mac and pc produced from a pc with a dyn text box that has a scroller.

I set the text using

This works across the board but on a mac if the default browser is set to safari, it opens the program but not the link

I am pretty desperate now, I am going to try produciong the projector from a mac and see if that helps.

Feed Burner Reader Not Working In Safari And IE
I built an RSS reader in Actionscript 3 a while ago and have never had any problems until now.

Strangely, the reader works perfectly in FireFox and Opera, but does not in Safari and Internet Explorer 7. After looking into things, it seems to be a problem with what data my URLLoader is getting.

In FireFox, it gets an XML file, and URLLoader.data is of type XML.

In Safari and IE7, using the same feed address, URLLoader.data is not XML. Instead, it is the HTML to some kind of default Feed Burner page.

I've searched this forum and the internet and can't find mention of this problem. Anyone have any ideas? Why would different browsers cause the SWF to receive different data?

Maybe there's a way to get a pure XML file from Feed Burner feed without it forwarding?

Actionscript -> Javascript In Chrome/Safari Not Working

I've been working on a flash project that is able to issue commands to the browser window via ExternalInterface.call. It is all working perfectly in IE and FF.

However, in Chrome and Safari, i cannot get AS -> JS communication working at all. Besides ExternalInterface.call not being received by JS, I've also tried tests with navigateToURL (which I understand to be the replacement of getURL) such as:

navigateToURL(new URLRequest('javascript:alert("hi there");'), "_self");
navigateToURL(new URLRequest('javascript:function foo(){alert("hi there");}foo();'), "_self");
ExternalInterface.call("function () { alert('hello');}");
ExternalInterface.call("alert", "hello");

all of which which work fine in IE and FF but do not work in Chrome/Safari. I've tried invoking both named and unnamed function via ExternalInterface.call and navigateToURL, all to no avail.

does anyone know the "magic" fix or workaround to get things rolling in Chrome/Safari?

I have done some testing and the method I currently am using works in :

Mac:
Firefox Yes
Safari No

PC:
Firefox Yes
IE Yes

Above are the only browsers I am currently concerned with. I am looking for a solution that works for Safari too. I have been doing research and found a few instances of ExternalInterface actionscript to javascript not working in safari. But I haven't found any solution that works.

Does anyone have a sample the works in all browsers html,javascript,fla, and swf?

I would very much appreciate the help.

Flash 8 Popup Window Not Working In Safari And Firefox
Hi, it just seems I can't make this work.
I wanted to create a simple popup window in Flash 8, added the script code to the page and used getURL("function in the script('page')") but it didn't work.
I also tried fscommand even if it's deprecated for Mac browsers.
I downloaded a couple of working .flas and (when I published the swf in Flash 8) didn't work either.

Preloader Not Working In IE, Works Great In Safari And Firefox.

I am wondering if anyone knows why this preloader does not work in Internet Explorer but works great in Safari and Firefox? I got the the preloader script from this tutorial:

Blend> Overlay Is Not Working In Safari Over Site's Background Image
My message is concerning the website (below) called suspendedinsound.com.

The blend mode, Overlay, is not working on several of my movie clips in the Safari browser.

The Flash swf and html is published with a transparent background. I put a bg image (via CSS) in the html code. The objects with overlay (the large animating gold rings and play/stop/mute buttons), are not "overlaying" over the html's background image. They look yellow or cream instead of being very subtle (dark reddish brown). This is only a problem in the Safari browser. Looks great in Firefox and IE.

Anybody have a solution?

Intel Safari & Intel FP9 NOT WORKING
I have already read some posts indicating this problem and offering not better solution than going back on releases. Has anybody been able to successfully run FP9 (latest version April 12) in Safari?????

After installing it, I can't see any Flash Page at all!

Rollover Not Working In Browser
I'm under the weather, and perhaps I should just sleep on this, but I know it's a simple problem and I'm not sleepy....

That said, why would my rollovers (no actions assigned yet, but Up, Over, etc. set) work fine in Flash (Enable Simple Buttons) and not in the browser? They're duds in the browser.

LoadVariables Not Working In Browser?
My Flash MX game sends (ok...should send) at the end some variables to a database... Everything works fine if i test the game in flash (Ctrl + Enter), but when i play the game with a browser (IE6) it seems as if the game doesn't send anything...

I use loadVariables to send and receive variables:

How come, it works in Flash but not in browser???!!!???

External Mp3 Not Working In Browser

I've build an application that loads external mp3s as event objects not streaming. It works great in the flash test movie enviroment but does not work in a browser.

is there anything I'm overlooking. I am testing to see if all mp3s have loaded before I play them.

SendAndLoad Not Working In Browser
Hi I dont know whats wrong, used sendAndLoad succesfully before but I cant get it to work now. I am sending and recieving data the send works fine but I cant recieve any data. Note this only happens when I view view file from server if I test the swf in flash I am able to recieve data, its only when Ive uplaoded it I cant recieve it, I keep getting undefined. Ive been developing a flash site in MX 2004, but in some HTML browsers, including my own, the button links to external websites are not working. Although when tested in Flash player the links work fine. Can anyone tell me why this is and any way to get around this?

Other flash sites and banners links seem to be working fine when I view them on the internet.

[MX] LoadMovie Not Working In Browser?
Ok, so maybe this is something that is really simple but it's been bugging me quite a bit. I have one main swf with a button that loads another swf from a different folder into level 5 using this code:

When I test the movie, it works just fine but when I embed it into an html page, the button does not load the swf. Is there something I'm missing here?

Flash Not Working On Browser.
Hey guys, I'm not too familiar with flash. We had it written up by some guys outside. Basically it's like this website: http://www.imaginationcubed.com (but a lot more simplified).

Strange, for some reason, I can open it with Adobe Flash CS3 Professional and draw in it with no problem. But when I open it with any browser (IE, Safari, Firefox), I can't seem to draw anything. It just stays blank.

Any thoughts? Feel free to ask me other questions.

LocalConnection Not Working In Browser
Hello.

I'm using localConnection and when I test my movie it works - I test the sending and receiving swf files in flash and they talk to each other fine.

I put the 2 movies into 2 different layers on a webpage and they dont communicate.

how can this be?

GetUrl Not Working If Www. Isn't Used In Browser
I made a navbar for my website using Flash CS3 Professional, ActionScript 2.0. The navbar works fine if you visit the site by typing the url in the web browser www. (mysiteaddress) .com. But, if the url is typed in as just (mysiteaddress) .com. Without the www. The GetUrl links do not work.

I tries just typing in text links with html and they work fine whether or not you use www. in the url in the web browser. This problem occurs in all web browsers, Firefox, IE 6, IE 7, Safari.

In my coding in the Get Url a reference the absolute url, tried it without www and tried it just as a relative url. Nothing seems to work. It wouldn't bother me that much but, when you search in google for my site the link does not have www.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

For reference, the site is www.brianmfrange.com. If you go to brianmfrange.com the Flash navbar getUrl links will not work.

*Also if I add _blank to the getUrl code the link works and opens in a new screen. Any other way does not work.

Buttons Not Working When Using Browser
thanks in advance to any one who takes the time to read this......

I have a flash movie that has some buttons on it that all do basically the same thing. Click on a button, and two things happen:
1. A new child movie is loaded onto the stage, and
2. a html page is loaded into a different frame.

If I Ctrl-Enter to run the movie, everything works fine, the new movie clip is played, and a browser window opens looking for the the html file (nothing happens in the browser, but I am not sweating that part yet. Maybe I ought to be?).

My problem lies in when i move it to the internet site (hosted by godaddy). when I try to access it there, using firefox, the buttons don't do squat, and I get "Wating for <www.mysite.com>"....with no change to either the movie clip or the HTML frame.

I've tried publishing it with "access local files only" and access network files only".....both are giving me the same problem.

any ideas as to what this could be?

I think i correctly attached the code I am using. This is authored in CS3, AS3
