basically what i am trying to do is make it have a shine to it...which you can tell i did not do right. i have spent hours and days with this it wont work right....
i want it to be like http://willaford.com like that shine on the main page. can someone please help me?? thanks

what i did was make a graphic and add the alpha fade and made a motion tween of it scrolling over the graphic..but it didnt work. it looks nothing like what i want...please help!!

I have an image that fades in, after it fades in. I would like it to glare, like a light passing over it. Does this makes sense? If not, I'm sure I can find a sample on the net for you.

Changing White Backgrounds To Remove Glare
Dear List Members

I have been working with an e-learning developer for several years now to advise her in
my capacity as a statistician on the design of e-learning materials which rely on Flash
animations and objects. I am not a trained user of Flash.

At my place of work, we use an online sequencing engine called EROS (Edinburgh
Reusable Sequencer) which facilitates linear progression through pages of content forming
CAL tutorials and quizzes and the use of many different question types together with the
use of a range of media including images, videos and Flash animations.

I would be interested to receive advice on whether it is possible to add in any features
to previously created Flash objects, and indeed to the pages including these objects,
which will enable white backgrounds to be overlaid or replaced by backgrounds of an
alternative colour. The idea is to render the learning materials more inclusive for
users who are dyslexic without attempting the impossible and unreasonable in terms of a
reconstruction job.

Whilst reconstruction of the Flash objects is not a pragmatic option, perhaps some of our
list members are aware of how the above feature can be incorporated into e-learning
materials retrospectively. I also have some specific questions in relation to any
possible solution. Is there a feature that can be switched on or off by the student or
would we need to build in the shaded backgrounds as a permanent feature? How would the
implementation of the shading work in practice?

For your info, currently, the e-learning developer is using Adobe Flash 9.

i have a logo that I want to be in the corner of the movie. I want, every now and then, for a flicker of like to go accross at an angle. (like a semi-transparent bar or something. The image is transparent itself, but the mask is only the box, not the specific parts of the image not transparent. Can someone help?

I just spent 20 mins on google trying to find some tutorials I can use to learn howto add a shine to an object in an image.

For example if I had a photo of a car how could I animate it as if a light just passed over the car, and only the car.

I made a box and copy/paste another box on the same layer, but when I try to do the flash affect it only does it on the first shape. The bottom shape is just invisible and doesn't shine. The boxes are on top of each other fyi.

i have tried to use the shine effect tutorial u have on your site.and instead of a simple shape that u draw i imported a graphic from outside.
I try to run it afterwards and i see no sign of my graphic!!

I want to only shine the text I have, so I cannot just simply draw a square around the area I want to mask. I need to outline the text. Is there anyway to outline the text I want to mask in the 'Area' layer? I know I can use the paintbrush to specify what I want to mask, but to go over ALL the text with a paintbrush would take hours. Any suggestions?

I need something that looks good and there are no restrictions on type of shine as long as it has that goldy feel.

Help With The Shine Effect Tutorial
I understand the tutorial, but the the sample movie on the page with the tutorial has a fade in like effect with the bottle once the gradient moves across the screen. I wanted to know how to get that fade in effect that I'm seeing.

I'll try to explain a little more in detail. I see the gradient go across the shape, but then it looks as though the bottle fades in from the middle out and replaces a white silhouette.

Hi guys, i got a little problem with the kirupa shine effect tutorial. i followed it step by step, but instead of drawing a shape to be masked a used a photo.jpg
Everything was alright till i tested it, my photo disappeared. I just can see the shine effect but not the photo. i did it for about 5 times as same as the tutorial but got not results.
If somebody knows where is the problem please help.

Shine / Blinking Text
I just started using Flash MX 2004 a couple of days ago and have been reading tutorial after tutorial and I've created many different things. I would like to know how people make the button blink with the white ontop of it. Kind of hard to explain, but picture a button with text. When you move your mouse over it, a white square fades in and out fast, like this site www.cubixdust.com when you move your mouse over "main site" and "portfolio" it blinks. Are there any tutorials that I will show me how to do this?

Also, are there any other good places to read tutorials?

Shine Effect Question
I read the tutorial on the Shine Effect but I have a few questions.

1st: On the tutorial, it shows a bottle on the sample movie. I was wondering how to do that same thing instead of just using a shape.

2nd: This isn't really a Flash question but an image question in general. How can I transfer an image to Flash and have it as just the image? Heres what I mean. If I open an image in photoshop, delete the background, and just select the image. When I copy and paste it into Flash, it has a white box around it.

3rd: Heres my last question. When I did the tutorial with the shape, I want it to do the shine effect and then bring up the shape. All it does though is do the shine effect and thats it. How can I do this?

when i do this in flash MX, not flash MX2004, on step VI, it indicates that it is a motion tween not a shape tween.
however, in flash mx, it will only allow me to perform a shape tween, will this affect my work?

I was going through the "Creating the Shine Effect" tutorial written by Sharif, and couldn't get my version to work. If the original file (the Afri bottle) or a better file is available I would definitely like to take a look.

Also, I'm looking for a sizzling/static look - like a Matrix effect (not the text Matrix effect). If anyone can point me in the right direction, a link, an fla, anything would be helpful.

Masking Shine Effect

I'm looking to imitate the effect sometimes found here: (doesn't look like they have it at the moment) http://www.worldofwarcraft.com
The flash at the top of the page where their images shine.

Now I have the shine effect working to an extent. I want to be able to mask the shine effect so it only happens on a particular image. Currently it just shines the whole document.

This is gonna be kinda confusing so :

image a = .swf with the shine effect
original = original image to be shined
image b = background
image c = mask trying to display only image a with the shine rather than the whole document

I had to make 2 flash documents for this because, to my knowledge, you can't mask a mask in flash. so i just imported the flash swf into the 2nd document (image a).

I've tried to make a image c black everywhere but image a's area (likewise with all white image).
I've tried using original to mask the swf but that also failed.

With video work, I think I recall that white is what you want to show...havn't worked with it in a while so I could be wrong.

If anyone know's / can help with what I'm trying to do, I would appreciate the help if possible.

Blur And Shine Effects
I have been to alot of sites and seen an effect but I dont know how to duplicate it. One such effect is making text look shiny or blured. Also i want to know how to make things have a glowing effect.

An example of what I mean is at www.blitzds.com, after the intro look at the nav bar and the bottom buttons... See the blurry, glowing text? It almost looks like the text is energized.

Any comments or suggestions would be helpful.
