Hi
Does anyone know of a good tutorial for a horizontal sliding slideshow, like the carousel tut on this site but which just goes horizontal instead of in a circle?

Slideshow: Sliding Images. Repeat Sliding After Last Image
Hello.
Scenario:
I have 5 images. With a setInterval I slide the images - back-to-back - from left to right under a window (mask). When the last image is under the mask, I'm trying to figure out a way to start over again. So that when the last image is sliding out, the first image is sliding in, thus retarting the slideshow.
I figured the best way to do this is to 'move' the image that last moved out of the mask before the other images. So if im1 move out of the mask, im2 move into the mask, im1 would move to position itself after im5 (since I have 5 images.)
The problem. How to tell flash to move the image that slides out to move to a position after all my images.
im5-im4-im3-im2-im1 becomes im1-im5-im4-im3-img2
Each image is 80 pixels wide.
Any help is much appreciated.

Help With Horizontal Sliding
I am working with a downloaded component that moves separate panels horizontally with an ease. there are 4 panels and they are controlled by 4 buttons to make them move.
The code for the panels is:
onClipEvent (load) {
targetx = 46.0;
delay = 8;
}
onClipEvent (enterFrame) {
distx = targetx-_x;
_x += distx/delay;
}
The code for each button is:
on (release) {
menu.targetx = 46.0;
}
The value changes with each button to move the panels.
My question is the buttons are actually buttons and I want to make them into movie clips
but when I do that and apply the same code it does not work.
Can this only be done with "buttons"?
I am trying to create a portfolio section that slides from panel to panel by thumbnails and left and right arrows.
Any help would be appreciated.

Horizontal Sliding Menu
Hey guys, I was wondering if any of you could help me out by telling me how to make one of those horizontal slide menus. The type of menu I'm talking about can be found at http://www.geckoarts.com. Click on "Script Lab" and you will see the sliding menu.
I will have about 10 links and 4 to 5 will be shown on the screen. I would like the user to be able to move the mouse left or right to see the other links. Also, I want the menu to speed up as the user moves the mouse left or right and not move at all in the center position just as it does at http://www.geckoarts.com.

Horizontal 'sliding' Navigation
Hi,
I hope someone can understand me here, here goes...
I understand that you can change the x-position of a movieclip (ie. when a button is presed or whatever); but
what I am trying to do is, instead of the clip just 'jumping' to the new position, I want it to 'slide' to the new position, if you know what I mean.
An example of this is the portfolio section of :

Could anybody tell me where I could get a tutorial or a simple .fla or perhaps explain it if it isn't too complex.

Horizontal Sliding Menu?
Hey fellas,
Anyone know of a direct link to a tutorial for the "slide effect"? As in.. the user clicks a link and the whole backdrop shifts to the corresponding backdrop for that particular link? A good example is at www.popmultimedia.com
I've searched the tutorials here and can't quite find what I'm looking for. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated, I have to incorporate this effect into a flash site by monday and currently I'm just sitting here stuck

I have been asked by someone to build a website for them and the want the sort of menu system found at www.underdogmedia.co.uk I have looked all over the internet and i have only found a purely actionscript version of the file. Sliding Horizontal Pictures
I have a problem with a sliding series of pictures. I have the actionscript assigned to the movie clip instance on the stage which basically determines speed and direction relative to the mouse. Everything works great but cannot seem to make the movieclip continuous eventhough I have duplicated the series in the movieclip and set everything to x=0, y=0.
Can anyone tell me what I am overlooking?

Sliding Horizontal Navigation
I've been trying to google this but am not sure what this is called... so hoping someone can help point me in the right direction...
I would like to find out how to go about creating a horizontal nav of thumbnails that slide left to right when a left or right button is clicked/hovered on. I would also like the thumbnails to keep looping if the left or right button is held down.
Once this is established I will then need to make each thumbnail act as a button.

I am using "regular" buttons on the site I am making..So, what im basically after is: action script for buttons, action script for slider/ MC (and maybe length of the slider) - so that it scrolls horizontal when I push the buttons..

Horizontal Thumbnail Sliding Menu
Hi!
In my next project I am to make a horizontal thumbnail sliding menu. The menu should consist of two arrows one on the left and one on the right so that people can navigate. On the screen there should be six thumbnail pictures at the time. When the user clicks on one of the thumbnails they will be redirected to a seperate page in the Flash file. This menu should only be on the first page of the flash file after a preloader. Now my question is if someone could help me out on this topic making it possible. Do you know where I can find a tutorial for this or could someone please guide me how to create this slider. I guess I have to setup two arrows and assign code so they will scroll one horizontal thumbnail at the time. Then I think I need to make a mask so that I hide the other redirection thumbnails in the movieclip. Have I missed something or this should be enough to make this real?

Issue With Sliding Movement, Looping Along A Horizontal
ok people.. here is a script I'm working on. I have few if any problems with it (amazing as that is) but there are two things that are tweeky about it and I'd be interested in input.

Note the following. This is a code desided to slide created thumbnails left to right across the top of the movie. The two problems I am having are with this code. The slide to the right, is jerky. It sets the x location in such a way that I do not get a smooth transition when a movieclip reaches the end of the length of the oThumbSlider.
When the movie clips are sliding to the left, the speed of the slide is consistant until such a time as one MC transfers to the end of the oThumbSlider. Then they start rocketing along at a great pace.

Horizontal Sliding Menu - Constraining OnRollOver Action
I have borrowed a sliding horizontal thumbnail script I found online and have successfully gotten it to work. The only problem is that I would like to either stop the action or ease it down when the mouse is out of the menu area. My sliding menu clip will be called into a level on another file, so I don't want the mouse action to work unless it is only in that MC area. Is there an easy way to do this? I'm willing to use a completely different script if there is a better one, but this one has the general behavior I want (i.e. the menu needs to loop, I want the action to accelerate on the perimeters, the sliding motion should be smooth, and I need to be able to have button actions on the menu). here's the script I have right now:

[MX 2004] Horizontal Sliding Menu With Mouse Position
What I'd like to achieve is a menu like the one you see on the USA Network Website.
I started to build my menu but the part I'm having problems with is the masked second level menu that slides horizontally depending on the mouse position. I took a script from some other FLA file but that won't deliver the result I'm looking for. What I want is to divide my mask in 2 equal parts (left/right); placing the mouse on the left part would move the menu to the right and placing the mouse on the right side would move the menu to the left, exactly like the USA Network Website.
I uploaded my FLA file (menu.zip) for you guys to check it out. I'd really appreciate some help so I can move on to other things!

[F8] Sliding Horizontal Scrolling Image Gallery With Thumbnails Along The Bottom
Hi
I've been looking for a tutorial for ages to show me how to create an image gallery but can't find one.
Along the bottom of the screen would be thumbs of each individual image. When the user clicks on a thumb the a large row of images would slide across bringing the appropriate image into view.
Basically similar to the following site but with images instead of text:

[MX2004] Horizontal Sliding Menu Depending On Mouse Position
I have a masked horizontal menu that slides from left to right when I roll over 2 'hit' MCs (left position/right position). That works fine but I have buttons under the 'hit' MCs that won't work since my 'hit' MCs are on an upper layer. I thought about working with MOUSE POSITION MOVEMENT but I'm not sure how to do this.
Any suggestions on how to work around this problem?

Sliding Slideshow With XML
Hi
Bit of an ask but does anyone know of a good tutorial that shows you how to create a sliding left/right slideshow (when the mouse goes left/right), the slides get bigger in the middle of the slideshow and smaller on the edges and you can control what's in the slides via XML files??

Scrolling/sliding Slideshow Transitions
Hello,
I'm trying to make a looping slideshow with image transitions like the slideshow on this site: http://www.publichue.com/ , where the image slides over and pushes the other one away. Sliding Menu - Need MC To Play After Sliding Has Finished
Hi,
I have created a Sliding Menu with about 12 sections. In one of the section/s I have a MC inside that I want to play. Is there a way to tell a MC to play once sliding has completed? Say based on pixel position (of the sliding MC) or something similar?
At the moment I'm using "on release" but with this method, the animation starts too early. (By the time you slide from section 1 to 12 the MC has already started playing)...
Any ideas?

Sliding In/sliding Out Images Using Actionscript
I know I should probably know how to do this by know but I'm stuck.
How do I create this effect using Actionscript?

When a user clicks on button "1" the image slides in from the left. When the user chooses to view image "2" image one slides out of the way and image two then slides in. I would like to do this using Actionscript because there's going to be a bunch of pictures that are part of this slideshow. It's how to tell the Flash player how to slide out the current image and slide in the new image that I'm struggling with. Forgive my lameness.
I'm also trying to do this without dynamically loading each image everytime they click on a button. The reason for this is so all the images load at once, thereby eliminating the delay that would occur as each image loads after a user clicks a button. A fellow Flashkit member(Garbage) suggested I do this using a Library clip (all the images placed on a keyframe of a movieClip that are referenced per button click) but I'm not sure how to do this (goToAndPlay?).
Any help or guidance would be most appreciated.
I've attached the .fla if anybody wants to look at it.

Sliding Nav ( Can You Make It Stop Sliding)

Hello Im having some issues trying to get this sliding nav to stop sliding.

It seems to be controled with a button called tracker but I cant get the nave to stop sling on roll out (also the text fields in this fla are not needed)

[F8] Sliding Interface With Sliding Buttons
I'm trying to get a sliding interface going with the buttons (that move the interface) moving along with it.

I got there by following by following the first page of this:

Basically I want to encorporate the buttons with the interface images.
I tried putting the buttons in with the images_MC, but nothing happens with you click the button.

Photo Slideshow With XML - Image Gap On First Cylce Through Slideshow
Hello,
I am new to this site, and I went through the tutorial on this site, "Photo slideshow using XMl and Flash, " http://www.kirupa.com/developer/mx20..._slideshow.htm
but I encountered a problem where my images lag the first time they cycle through all the images in the XML file.
The first time the flash page loads and starts the slideshow, I don't want the gap between the transitioning of the images where the movie backgound shows. I think it has something to do with the images loading for the first time, so I tried to load each picture in a different movieclip with an alpha of 0 before the slideshows starts, but it didn't work and there is still the gap between the images the first time the pictures cycle through the slide show.
Please offer any advice on how to stop the image lag the first time the slideshow cycle through all the images in the XML file.

Horizontal Scrolling
Hey,
This is a follow up to my earlier question regarding my problems with getting a horizontal scrolling bar thing to work similar to the monocrafts menu system sans the zooming in and out features.
I've got it to work sortof, but my problem is it doesn't work seamlessly. the menu "skips" and jumps back to the center of the menu once scrolling has reached the end of the image. I'm really stumped on this, since i'm new to action scripting in general.
Here's how i've got it set up. My movie is 700 pixels wide and 107 pixels high. I've made a movie clip on the main stage which holds my graphics which need to scroll horizontaly. I've also created a drag control movie clip, with 2 frames. the second frame sends it back to the first frame. In the second frame, it's set up like this.
centrepos = 350;
sliderpos = _root.menu._x;
mousepos = _root._xmouse;
difference = mousepos - centrepos;
move = -difference/20; _root.menu._x = sliderpos + move;
if (sliderpos + move> _root.menu._width/4) { _root.menu._x = 0 +move;
}
if (sliderpos + move< 0) {
_root.menu._x = _root.menu._width/4 + move;
}
I've put this info into a variable. maybe this is where this all going wrong. cause it partly works.

Horizontal Scroll - Please
I need to create a horizontal scroll but I'm having some problems. I create a MC instance and I put these actions in it:
onClipEvent (enterFrame) {
movie_width = 740;
scroll_width = this._width - movie_width;
scrollbar_width = movie_width - _root.drag._width;
proportion = scroll_width/scrollbar_width;
this._x = proportion * _root.drag._x * -1;
}
A button inside another MC instance (drag) has the following action:
on (press) {
startDrag (/:this, false, 259, 165, 469, 165);
}
on (release) {
stopDrag ();
}
My doubt is: how I can determinate the beginning and the end of the scroll area?

Horizontal Scrolling
hey ppl
could somebody help me out here. Im trying to make a horizontal image scroller.
Its got to have an arrow at each end and will scroll the images when the mouse rolls over it.
Ive found plenty of things for vertical scrollers but i dont have the first idea of how I would convert it to horizontal

Horizontal Scrolling
Alright, to be specific:
I have 8 images, on a horizontal line. I have a mask, its purposes to hide all but three of the images. Over an arrow image to the left of these, I have a rollover effect that starts the images scrolling to the left. Rollout, it stops, when it gets to the end, it also stops. Roll back over and it starts up again. To do this the images are grouped, and just follow a motion tween to the left. Now, as you prob. have guessed by now, there is a right arrow, and I need the images to scroll to the right. What is the best way to do this? So, for ex, if visitor is scrolling the images to the left, and halfway through wants to scroll back right, what is the best way to manage this?

HELP - Horizontal Scrolling MC
can someone please help me with a nice - simple way to scroll a MC horizontally using buttons so that it has a beginning and an end - meaning, can't scroll past a certain point on the left and right
and, if fancy, that speeds up the longer the button is held down?
