How Can I Create A Window..
.. that pops up over a certain area depending on the mouse position.. so that in a certain area a certain img is always displayed at the tip of the mouse? any ideas any tutorials around?

Hello and thanks for taking the time to look at my question.
I am creating a interactive gallery, which I hope to eventually get online. Right now my main menu consists of small thumbnails of the artwork that I have converted into buttons.
What I would like to have is: when the user clicks on the thumnbnail button the actual, full-size jpg of the artwork opens up in a new browser window.
I have seen this effect on a number of websites designed in Flash and I was wondering if anyone here knew the actionscript that is needed or if you could point me in the direction of a good tutorial. Thanks alot!
(also: some sites had a cool effect of the new window slightly morphing it's size in order to contain the entire jpg image. if anyone knows more about that i would be iching to learn)

I'd like to know how to create a new window without the toolbar of the explorer or navigator by getURL command (if it is possible). Is there any way to make this window to appear on an exact place?
I've tried by FSCommand and JScript and it works with IE but doesn't work properly with NN6. Any good idea?

Create A Centered POP UP Window From Flash

I am working with a website in Flash MX 2004. I want to have a centered POP UP window when someone clicks on a menu button. I have tried out some actionscript that I found here. It works well, when it's in the first frame of my timeline. The site I work with the menu is a bit inside the timeline. Now when someone clicks on the button a window pops up. But it's not in the correct size that I wrote in the script. It's much bigger. Why is that? How can I have a menu button working with a pop up window that shows an external html file?

Create A Scrollable Flash Area Or Window, Please Help
I'm currently creating a flash based quiz, using multiple choice and drag and drop questions. I have eveything working fine, only problem being that I want the page/area to be like a window with a vertical scroll bar to scroll the screen up or down.

How To Create A Selectable Symbol Window/list/etc...

I am brand new to Flash and Actionscript and have a project I want to do.
I would like to have a graphic area where I can display a list of graphics/symbols that could be dragged
on to the stage or to a Movie clip to create a layout and do this within flash. There are a couple of sites
I have seen that do what I would like to do.
In essence: I would like to have a window that would show a scrolling list of symbols/objects that would
be populated (2 symbols/graphics side by side) and any number of symbols loaded in the list/window.
Then to be able to drag one of the symbols to the stage or to a movie clip. Being a beginner I don't know if
it is possible on a web page to have to SWF files on a page and if you could drag between them?
A site where this is done is www.sugarhousebanner.com with their banner designer tool. I would like to do
something a bit similar. Any input on how to do this in just getting started would be appreciated.
The 2nd item I have is also seen on this same site. I am not sure how they do the zooming in and out and not have the whole stage affected if all the controls for the graphics, fonts, etc... are on the stage also.

How To Create A Constrained Child Window In Director
Hi I am using Director MX 2004.
My question is does any one know how to load a local director movie into a new window that is a child of the inital director window. (Where it's contrained inside the parent window) So that it will minimize with the orignal window and will not create it's own program tab on the windows task bar?

Here are the details of what I am trying to do and what I have tried.
Basicly I am trying to have an 800 x 600 stage that will have a titlebar and will allow the Windows taskbar to always be visble.
So I activated all the title bar options "minimize max ect. This works ok. But then when I maximize the window the director stage always goes to the "top left". I need the stage to stay centerred when the user maximizes the window. I understand you can't stretch the director stage, but I just want it to be centered as a projector.
So a way to get around this I figured I can create a prarent window that I can maximize and then the whild window within it will be my actual application that I can force to alway be centerd at 800 x 600.
The problem is whenever I create a new window using the following code it doesn't create it has a whild to my director project which results in another program tab in my windows taskbar.

I then tried setting the "Display template" type to "Tool" which doesn't create the tab in the taskbar but the window doesn't minimize when I minimze the parent window because the tool type doesn't do that.

i'm pulling my hair out trying to make html pop-up windows in flash that are centered, custom sized, as well as not have the status bar, location bar, etc...

Can I Create A Window With A Sort Of 'Google Maps' Functionality?
A kick in the right direction wanted please.
Hi all. I'm unashamedly begging for some help, or at least a pointer to where I can find a tutorial or something similar to what I'm after.
I would like to create a window within my page that performs just like the google maps window - in that you drag an image to the left revealing the blank space to the right, a new image loads up in that blank area, drag in the window again revealing blank space elsewhere, an image loads up in the newly revealed space. So, just like google maps, but not a map, just my own normal everyday photos or pictures from my own sevrer, not associated with any mapping technologies or anything like that. Just a sort of gallery basically, but only loading the images it needs to to reduce bandwidth and have pretty fast load times.
I guess each image will need to be absolutely positioned or have a unique reference on some sort of grid so that when that area is revealed by the drag Flash knows the next image to load(?)
I have VERY limited actionscript knowledge - I'm a web designer and can create XHTML and CSS to compete with the best out there, but ask me to do some actionscript from scratch etc and I just go blank I can quite happily hack around with something someone's already created and get it to do my bidding (most of the time), but I've not found anything like I've described, except google maps of course, and that's all Ajax based and connected to real world coordinates and has waaay more features than I need. Just a simple 'drag > reveal blank > load certain image into blank' is all I'm after. If it's possble at all!?
And I don't expect anyone to do this for me, but if you could at least tell me if this is possible or point me in the direction of something I may find useful I would really ppreciate it.

Short and simple AS3 beginner's problem here.
It's not that I don't want to learn AS3, it's just that I'm in a jam that needs to be resolved tonight.
All I want to do is create a button, push it, and have a swf movie play in the same window. In AS2, this is simple for me to do with the root/parent formula.

I have a Flash file that has an dynamic html text box on it. I would like to have one of the links open a new browser window without scoll bars, no header and no resize. I've seen some where you can do it from a button but not form a .txt file imported in a text box. Is there anyone who can help. I downloaded and applied a flash template to my website. For the most part, I've tweaked it in flash to fit my needs.
I'm hoping to get help on a feature.
Basically, if you go to my site (URL is in my profile), and go to the initial page and click the "Read more about us" button, a "pop out" window appears with additional info.
I'm trying to recreate that and use a similar window elsewhere, but I can't for the life of me reverse engineer this feature.

Create, Delete, Create Event Handlers
Hi,
At the moment I create an onEnterFrame function to ease a movie clip into view. I then delete it. I want to be able to recreate a similar onEnterFrame function later to swoosh the movie clip out of view. At the moment weird things happen when I try and do the second onEnterFrame. Am I doing something illegal here?
I know I could put this all in the original onEnterFrame, but I don't wanna be wasting processor time doing an if statement every frame to work out if it's time to swoosh out the movieclip. Or should I not worry because that's negligible cpu time?

I tried it in Netscape and it didn't crash.

I have a flash demo that is opened from our web site and spawns a new window. At the end of the demo is a link that directs the user to "get more information." I would like this link to open the "more info" page in the PARENT window rather than the spawned window. Currently I have my Flash link coded with:

This is not working. Do I need to add some code to the parent window and/or the HTML page where the Flash file is embedded?

Passing Variables From Spawned Window To Parent Window
Is it possible to pass a variable from a child to a parent window.
I have one page (Index.html) with a swf (index.swf). A button on the index.swf launches demo.html containing a demo.swf. When the user gets to a certain point in demo.swf, I need to tell index.swf that it has arrived. Is this possible.
