Mx2004 Cuts Loaded Image Borders - Image Format Problem?
hi mates

i know i didnt post here quite a long time (wasnt programming quite a long time too), and since i know this forum to be very helpful, i am back with one irritating problem.

i have some jpgs, all contents seem to be ok, and wanna load and rescale them (rescaling would work, thats not the problem). it seems my pictures have some format error, but i cant find it

they dont seem to get displayed completely. or better, their contents dont. that means, the content is displayed in a certain area, but not outside of it, although the image is fully loaded (at least getBytesTotal tells me so). i made a small file to test the picture loading, and it shows the same error as my real clip does.

- no, theres no mask applied
- no, the jpgs are no progressive types
- yes, i tried using baseline optimization, standard baseline, and different compressions.
- yes, when displaying the jpgs with any other tool than
- when inserting one of the pics to the stage in developing and then exporting it being inside the swf, it is displayed correctly
- btw, the pics are quite big (about 3000*2000px/300-700kB) for being able to zoom.

another issue i am noticing is that some areas inside the displayed area of the jpg are not displayed instantly when the jpg is displayed, and fadein (alpha) effects of other clips in front of these areas cause much more cpu load than they should.

anyone ever seen this problem? or anyone having an idea how to solve this one?

MX2004 - How Do I Change The Background Colour Of The MediaPlayer ?
I can see in Flash 2004 how you change the colour of the media controller component ie defualt or none - but when its the self contained Mediaplayback component I can not see how you change the background.

Flash Swf As A Background Image
this would be incredible if I could use a swf as a background image in either html or css. Anyone know if it can be done? Or does anyone know a workaround. I am trying to (i know it may be against the rules) make a simple rounded rectangle with some attnetion getting animation that surrounds the google ad. When I insert flash it moves the javascript down. This may actually be legal since I am not directly telling the user to to click the links, just using the flash as layout. Thanks

Background Image In Flash.
I am in the process of putting together my own site. Currently I have a background image in my html that repeats horizontally and vertically. I then placed my Flash movie on top of the page and set the background of the Flash movie to be transparent. It looks great and works but, unfortunately, the transparent background combined with my animations are a little too processor intensive.

So my question is, how can I place a background image in my Flash movie so that it will cover entire browser background (a.k.a. tile) without being processor intensive? Also, I'm trying to avoid using an enormous image for the background.

How do you "tile" an image in flash? I have seen so many flash sites with tiled background images (ex: 2advanced.com, look closely at the pinstrip design in the background). How do I do that? How do you tile an image in general?

Knocking Out Background In An Image For Use In Flash...
hey there...
i'm trying to put a picture (ie. person standing) without the background into flash.

i'm able to knock out the background in photoshop, but when i try to import, or copy paste the image into flash, the background, or a white box is still in the background.

how can i just get my image, in this case... just the person and not the background into flash?

I've got a Flash movie with a photo background for added effect, the problem is, this is bumping my movie up to 118 K, its 72K without the background.

I've tried putting the background in HTML, but it won't scale to fit the screen. I've also tried using layers with a 100% sized image, but this screws up if the browser is resized.

Howdy! Thanks for taking the time to read this... I'm relatively new to Flash and I'm loving it - I have a quick question which hopefully will be pretty easy for someone to help me out on...

I'm working on a site where they want a large background image sitting behind the various nav elements, etc.

I know about giving a Flash movie a transparent background, but apprently that only works on IE on Windows. This needs to work the same for Netscape, etc.

Very cool - but I'm not sure how it's being done. The background image itself shouldn't cause any scrolling, and I'm guessing it will need to be quite big (1280x768 pixels) - like the site I listed above, if someone resizes their browser window, the background image should simply get cropped. Can anyone give me a helpful hint or two about how to approach this?

i have a flash file sitting in a html file...

a table td within this html file has the following: <td id="bgTable" style="background: url(images/strip_black.gif)">

i have a button in the flash file, and when it is clicked i want it to change the html td background from images/strip_black.gif to images/strip_white.gif .

Image W/ Transparent Background Imported To Flash MX
Hi there. What I'm tring to do is something that would seem very basic and easy, but I'm still having problems.

I'm just typing out a word in Photoshop. Then applying a slight bevel to it, a slight glow, and a slight drop shadow. My problem is that when I save it as a gif (must have a transparent background), and import it to Flash, it looks terrible. The glow and dropshadow are pretty much eliminated, and the letters look all choppy.

I need the word (which is part of the nav) to have a transparent background so I can make it into a symbol (movie), and apply a tween while using the advanced color option to make the word gradually glow when rolled over, and gradually fade back to normal on rolloff.

I know this is possible, because I've seen it done. I actually have an .fla from a designer who's done it - but I have no way to contact him.

Anyone have some advice? Thanks much!

The problem is that i cannot seem to prevent the Flash "stage" from taking up most of the screen, covering the bg image, which is the green stripes. It does not matter how small I make the stage in Flash.

Large Background Image For Full Screen Flash
Hi again.

I want to use an big image to full the entire browser window (as long as you resolution is smaller than 1600, since the image is 1600x1200).

To do that I use the bitmapdata class and the drawing api as usual. However I just found that if I uncheck the "export for first frame" for the image in the library, the background just won't show up in the movie. Is that so?

I need to uncheck that option cause that image is gonna contribute some 80k to the movie, you really don't want your preloader to show up slow, right?

How To Left Justify A Background Image In Full Browser Flash?
I want to make bitmap image left-top justified in a full browser flash movie. So no matter what size the browser window is the image is in the upper left corner while the main Movie Clip is still centered in the browser. Any ideas?

Image Distortion In MX2004
I am having a slight problem with image distortion in flash. I have a main bgcolor and then I have images that have the same bgcolor as the main movie. When the image is called and shows up you can see the outline of the image on top of the main bgcolor.

But this only happens on certain computers so that is why I am stumped on why this is happening.

Please take a look and let me know if you see what I am talking about or have run into this issue before.

I have developed the attached site as a practise exercise. It basically consists of a wall of tiled identical images.

What I would like to have happen is, as a user rolls over an image it’s _xscale & _yscale go up to 150 & (the bit I’m having the problems with) it appears above all the other images on the wall.

I am really at a loss as to how to achieve this & would be grateful for any help.

A slightly amended script as it currently stands is set out below & the fla is attached.

[CS3] Flash File Contents Converted Into Single MC..? For Fluid Background Image...
I have produced a website..

The site is built using frame names to skip to different stages within the movie.

This all works fine... But I want all of this to be placed within another MC...

Seems like a simple idea, as you can usually make MC's with different frames in and frams names etc...

But I have tried copying all frames into a new MC, and also completely re-written the website within a single frame, yet it doesn't want to read the frame names to skip to the next section of the website...?!!

I should now mention why I want to do this... I want to have a fluid image background, and the actionscript I have for it only works on a single frame, hence putting the movie into a new MC...

So when I create this MC and you play the movie and click on Portfolio it doesnt go anywhere, I have checked all the links within the file and they still are linked with the correct frame names etc...

Anyone come across this problem??

Or any other solution to fluid background images??
