So i want to somebody visiting my
perso web site, possibilty to
dowload file ( as a PDF CV, or whatever else, pict, mov.... )
I bought two books on understanding flash, but not a line on this basic needs .
Is there somedy could show me the way
to do it.

How do I create a download button for a song I have on my server. I just want a download window to pop out without the user having to leave the page.
I tried this in the actions layer frame but it took me to the page only to listen to the song.

How To Create Downloadable Zip File
We have a CD that we mail out to customers which contains 5 files that display a presentation of our company (similar to a powerpoint, but it was not created in ppt).
I would like to create a link in our flash site so that people could download a zip file to access this presentation. The presentation is about 300MB.
I am not sure how to go about this. I'm thinking I need to put the five files in a zip file, and create a button that links to this file on the server. Do I just create actionscript like this?

If so, then how does the user know which file to click on once it's unzipped to run the presentation? I could create a text file with instructions, but I don't know how many users will go through all the trouble.
Ideally, I'd like to create a link to the file and just have it play. Maybe the answer is really obvious here, but I'm new. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

Hi, I'd like to insert a link that point to a file. I created a button and inside the addEventListener function I use this code

I'd like the user to download my vCard, and in windows with internet explorer it works great, the "download file windows" appears and I can download the file. But on my mac with safari or firefox, it opens a new window and I see the code of the file instead of downloading it.
Any clues?

say I click a button in Flash (or even a HTML page for that matter - if you know both then please give me the code and instructions for each - thanks) that says 'Download Now' or something to that effect...
what do you do to make the correct file download to the users desktop/hard drive when the button is clicked???
What is the code that makes this happen, and what folder does it need to go in on the remote server???

I would like to attach a downloadable Word doc. of my C.V. to the C.V. section of my website (www.jr247.co.uk).
I would like the user to be able to click on the Word or simpletext icon ,depending on platform, to start downloading the C.V. as I'm tired of sending my C.V. via e-mail. Does anybody know how it's done or does anyone know of a tutorial? Any help would be much appreciated.

I would like to add a button to the C.V. section of my site that will automatically download either a Word or Simpletext file to the users desktop depending on which icon they choose. What script do I need to attach to the button? I take it it's a Get URL and the directory path to the necessary files on the server. in my flash site I have a page where people can view photo's. Normally with html if a user right-clicks on a photo they can download the picture and save it to disk. Unfortunatelly this feature doesn't seem to be available with flash5. Does anyone know a way of doing this cause they really want this to be possible in the site.

I need to upgrade my flash in order to work on some documents someone created for me. I want to buy Flash 8, but I see Adobe has taken it off line. Does anyone know where I can buy a downloadable full version or even get a demo version that will last a few weeks until the new release is available? I am kind of stumped. Is it possible to create an image gallery in flash with downloadable images. For example, you have a gallery consisting of a few thumbnail images, the user clicks on an image to enlarge it, then, if the user wants to keep the image right clicks and say download or save image? I've a made a website with flash. Now I want that a txt-file appears on it, so that the text on my site automatically changes when I change the txt-file (whitout publishing whole the time). Is there a script to do this? If there is one, which?
