Flash :: How To Create An Album Sampler

How To Create A Photo Album That Slides
I see on a lot of portfolio sites thumbnails that load (I believe dynamically) and when the mouse goes to the right or left the thumbnails will move accordingly. Also when one of the thumbnails is pressed a larger image will load (dynamically) in a nice and neat area on the stage. How do you do this? I'm familiar with Flash MX, and I'm just learning action scripting on a deeper level. Are there any tutorials that have been posted or anyone who can help me? I'm not finding and books at Barns and Nobel on this specific technique.

CD Sampler Thingy Question

I guess the topic explains it all.. okay so it doesn't. Let me explain. Basically what I am trying to pull off is making a CD that when you pop it in a interactive CD thing pops up. I want it to have a little intro then go to a menu where you can select different choices etc etc. Basically like an all flash site but on a CD and with a different purpose.

Now that I explained that, here is my question. I have a general idea about what to do but I don't know the best way of doing it. I know I could make a menu SWF and have it load external SWF Files into it when you click on one of the menu choices. Is this the best way of pulling something like this off? Also, does anyone know how to go about getting it onto a CD so it open when you stick it in, and have it like take up the whole screen like interactive CDs always do? Thanks a ton in advance!

Small Audio Sampler
I'm building a site for a client that wants a small audio sampler in their site, it will play 10 sounds in mp3 format and the user will have the capacity to download the individual sounds in .wav format, these will be stored in zip files and called using the geturl function.

The sounds need to play independently of each other, so if a user clicks on sound4 for example, any other sound will cease to play. I'm thinking of using the stopallsounds function as the first piece of script on each button that launches the streaming sound, will this create any problems?

What i'm unsure of before i beign building the player is how i should put it together for optimum usability. Would it be best to load all the textual info from an xml file and manually code the buttons or would it be possible to make it in such a way that the xml file, (or a php file?) dynamically creates the necessary play and download button for each sound in the xml. I've looked at using id3 but since the data cannot be loaded until the sound has downloaded i dont think this will work with streaming sounds.

Like i said, i'm still at the planning stage so any input or ideas that anyone has will be much appreciated.

Is there anything like this that I can do?

A small flash player with play and pause buttons, that will play any sample that is called in to it. For example:

The Address of the player I place in the item description in the store is:

http://www.site.com/flashplayer.swf=...mp3sample1.mp3

Thus playing the mp3 that is hosted at:

http://www.site.com/samples/mp3sample1.mp3

Audio Sampler - Suggestions
I made an audio sampler of some band's songs. SO. The biggest problem is loading these songs seperate. I have ten buttons on the stage. How should I and where should I attach sounds? Do you have any suggestions?

Oh yeah...to make it easier, i could push a button and the song starts to stream. How to do this?

Hi Guys,

I have just basic knowledge of Flash. Few months ago my company outsourced a Flash Project. Now I need to make a very minor change to it. After making the change when I publish, it shows me the following error:

1172 Definition flash.sampler(colon)pauseSampling could not be found

To me it looks like I'm missing some class in Flash? I looked up the search engines and I found this is something related to Flex? Please advise what do I need to to do.

hey! itunes has shown that it is possible to load cd covers... album art... that correspond to the song that is playing. does anyone know how to use actionscript to do the same? i could load all the album art myself... but it is tedious, and i'd rather the images be stored on someone else's server and take up their bandwidth and not mine. any thoughts?

just got back from a family vacation and my dad wants me to put all of our photos from our trip that we took. Since we used a digital camera i got em all on my comp, but i'd like to know how to do a few things. Is flash the best tool to use for this? I was thinking to have a few section for the differents places, Grand Canyon etc. in each section i'd like to create some thumbnails and you can enlarge the picture, how would i do this? Hi, I was wondering if someone, somewhere might be able to help me.

I'm developing a small site for a friend who's off travelling - message board etc. - but I want to create a minisite of a photo album, comprising any photos that he uploads to a specified folder. Of course he will keep adding photos over time, so I want to know how to create a simple photo album (nothing fancy), that would use a technique (possibly CGI) to "pull" any photos from this specified folder and keep the Flash file updated.

Any help greatly greatly appreciated.

I would love to create a photo gallery that looks like a book and flips the images over as if I was flipping pages. I noticed in my searching that Swish has something close but wanted to stay with MX.

Hi,

I have a photo album I got from the movies section of this site. I added in my pictures and set up the xml file right, but I don't know how to add it into my site.

I want to add the photo albums to the media section of my site, but I'm not sure how to do that? I want where it says "Random" and "Recording" to link to the photo album. It could even pop up in a new window, that would work for now. Can someone explain how to do this?

I'm attaching my .fla so you know what I'm talking about. The photo albums are in the folders named "Random" and "Recording."

I want to create a photo album, in which the photos (or swf files containing the photos) will be loaded from the directory where the main swf file is located.

In the first version i can specify the number of images present in the folder.

And in the second version i want to load the files dynamically. (i.e. I want to incease or decrease the number of files in the folder and that has to refelect in the main swf/exe file)

I am hoping to create a photo album style program for my school yearbook.

I want to create it in flash and for each photo to be selectable to save onto the persons home computer in a file, similar to right-click save picture on a normal webpage.

I'm trying to get some ideas for making a photo album of sorts for my website.

Trouble is, I've not found any open source examples incorporating the thumbnail scrolling effect with the image being displayed next to or below the thumbnails. Can anyone give me some guidance on this, or link me to some open source or freeware programs similar to this?

Ok so I've got a bunch of thumbnails that are buttons in an mc that scrolls.

on (release) {
_root.myLoader.contentPath = "path of the image";
}

is my code on these buttons.

myLoader is a blank movie clip that will load the picture next to this scroller. Unfortunately, nothing loads when i click the thumbnails. There are no errors. HELP!

I want to create an offline wedding photo album which allows the user the option of viewing an automated slideshow of the jpegs. Having set the stage
by frame 1070, pressing the "automated slideshow" button should cause the relevant "show_mc" to run.
But it wont.
(The top two layers,"actions" and "slides" are the ones in question.)
I've only been learning Flash for a couple of months and I'm probably doing something silly.
I'd really appreciate the help .

I have a main "container" that holds the large size picture. and I have a group of thumbnails that I want to set up as buttons. Here's my code:

now when I rollover the thumbnail "thumb01" it doesn't work. In fact, the mouse pointer doesn't change from an arrow to a pointing hand like it should. So I guess I'm doing something wrong here.

ID3 Album Artwork?
I'm writring this post to find out if there are any ways to get Album Artwork out of a song's ID3 data and display it in a movieclip or in any form?
This would be awsome if you could because then stuff like Cover Flow (from iTunes) could be made in Flash (can anyone spell l..a..g?).

Anyway because I have a flash lab (http://lab.jacobclarkezone.com) and in it there's flash and music (so far...) and I've made the player controls but I thought it would be awesome if Album Artwork could be displayed as well!

So anyways, is it possible and if so how can I do it?
And if there's not is there any hint of it in Flash 9?

I have a website built in Dreamweaver CS3. I have a photo album I have installed but I am looking for other options. It is a downloaded shareware program named Sonettic. My website address is:

Go to 'Image Collections' and select one of the image collections. When you move your mouse over the small images the larger image is displayed. I understand how this works, but see how the white bar scrolls from left to right and reveals the next image. How is this done?

i tryed chaning directory for the files

however, i was trying to make some changes to its and can't figure it out. I was wonder if anyone could help me, look at the coding part of its and see:

First i want to change the fade time of the pictures? Like now, when i cliked each pictures, its slowly faded in, but i would prefer it to just load the picture without fading. Is there a way to do that because i can't find it.

Second, for the album name that shows on the right of the picture, i was wonder if there is a way to links to album outside of flash. For example, if i want to put album1, album2, and album3 inside the HTML code for my homepage and make a hyperlink of each albums to open the pictures in flash.

Can anybody modify this project so that we do not have to click on the arrow button but the picture gradually(fade) changes to a new picture.
It may be very easy for you guys but I do not know how to do that sine I am new to Flash.

I'm having such a hard time... I'm such an idiot... I'm trying to make an .XML playlist.. I've read like EVERY tutorial ever written for this and I still can't get it. I just need all the advice I can get. I need something that can load ARTISTS NAME - SONG TITLE - ARTIST URL - COMMENTS ABOUT THE SONG. and album artwork.

I've got 30 tracks that I need in a like 2 playlists maybe.. I want to divide the songs in two sections. For disk1 and disk2.

It's like I can get the the data sometimes to load in, but never the album artwork

Maybe someone can point me in the right direction, or show me a tutorial that will actually help me.

I really really need the help.

I'll attach my source files in case anyone wants to take a look at them and maybe you can find what in the world I'm missing!!!
