i need ot know how to make .swf files transparent so my background image on my webpage shows through the .swf file instead of it being white. i know i read how to do this somewhere on this site but i cant find it now and the forum/tutorial searches didnt come up with anything. thanks for helping or pointing me to the old thread. i appreciate it

Can't Seem To Find This Topic So I Have To Post A New One...preloader Shows Up At 50%
Hey guys...I am sure this has been posted, but I can't seem to find any topics on it. Basically my problem is this...and it seems to be only a Flash MX thing. But using my percentage preloader and viewing show streaming for a 56k user the preloader won't show up till the movie is 50% loaded. I have made sure that there is nothing complicated in the first frame and I have chopped it up to make the first frame smaller and it stills shows up at 50%! Why? It is now only a text field which shows the percentage and not even a loader bar! That shouold be the tiniest first frame ever! Why is this happening?

Still Trying To Find Out How To Make A File Downloadable

what do you do to make the correct file download to the users desktop/hard drive when the button is clicked???

How Can I Make PART Of A GIF File Transparent? (want To Use A Blur Effect)
Hi, Im learning how to character animate on flash, and the common-today blur effect is of great interest to me (although Im not sure you all know what Im talking about, it is usually taking what you already did in flash, taking it into adobe photoshop and then using the motion blur effect to make things blurred so it looks more dynamic when moving)
and.....Im having problems with the transparency element (what a surprise eh?)
Ok, lets say that I make a....lets say a ball in flash. a red ball. with a white background. now I take this into photoshop (whether by printing my screen or importing the ball into a BITMAP format) and then use the motion blur. it gets blurry. awesome. save it as a gif or as a jpeg.
now if I move this into a flash movie with the final product being a white background, this would work great.
however, if I change the BG color to black, this would pose a problem. Since vector maps are NOT obviously good at blending (and gradient paint tools obviously dont replicate the blur of motion as well as a photoshop motion blur) a BITMAP of a reball blurring will constitute as a RED BALL fading into a PINK and eventually into white.
in other words if the background color is NOT white......then the blur wont work.
I dont know if Im explaining this well (please tell me if Im not) but I know there's way to change the alpah settings for acertain color of a bitmap in order to make the blur effect truly more transparent working so it'll work on any BG whatsoever. aynone have any idea? sorry if its confusing......

Menu Shows Wen Transparent...
i have set my 'Export movie' so that it doesnt display the menu. but wen i put this into the HTML of the swf in dreamweaver:

the menu appears, even tho i told it not to...

Transparent Logo Still Shows A Box
I have my logo in my flash file and it has a transparent background, but on some computers, I am seeing the subtle outline of the actual size of the graphic. There is a box around the logo, where it is showing a background that should not be there cause it is transparent.. Not a big deal, but when you are trying to make it look seamless, it looks a little hokey...Anyone else having this problem.

Can Transparent Flash Tweak Webpage Images?
Okay, here's a question: Can a wmode-transparent SWF have any effect on the graphics of the webpage that it appears on?
Specifically, I'd like to create two effects - a draggable lens and a "heatwave/water ripple" effect, both of which affect html-based text and graphics which are on the webpage.
While it's fairly easy to do this by taking a screenshot of the page and importing it, I was wondering if there's a more dynamic solution, such as by somehow grabbing a bitmap image of what's beneath the SWF... is this even possible?

How Can I Jump To A Topic In A Loaded Text File?
Hello, thank you in advance for your help. I have an external txt file with a ton of text containing different topics. The txt file loads into a dynamic text box in my flash file with a scroll bar. Is there any way that I can place links at the top area that will cause the text to advance to that topic. This is done in html such as with this page:

Find Bounds Of Contiguous Transparent Pixels
I have the need to find the largest rectangle of ONLY transparent pixels in a transparent PNG. The transparent region is non-rectangular, so getColorBoundsRect returns a rectangle that also contains non-transparent pixels. Is there a way I can check for a rectangle that contains only the color I set?

Indent Text - Shows On The FLA File, But Not On SWF File
Hey everyone....
I have some text boxes that are bullet points, so i want the second line to indent in so all the text is flush and the bullet sticks out.
I did a +20 indent in the paragraph box, then took just the top line and did a -20 indent. and it worked fine and flusehd up with the bottom line. But when i previewed it, it didnt show up that way in the SWF! It showed up as if it was just typed in and nothing was indented.
Any ideas what im doing wrong or a fix to this?
My font settings are:
Dynamic Text
all embeded
anti-alias for animation
render text as HTML is selected

The Most Space Efficient Way To Make A Webpage?

Make A Flash Animation Float Over A Regular Webpage?
Um...lately...or as of when the first version on Flash MX came out some websites have had like random advertisements that would "pop-up" in or "float" on top of their webpage but still be all contained within that one instance of the browser window? I'm thinking maybe they put the flash animation in a layer that had a high z-index or something in the div tag but i'm not sure, and I can't seem to overlap anything on top of a flash animation either when I do use layers. Am I crazy? How can I at least make a flash animation overlap my webpage/site? (i remember they had an ad for like the ARMY before like that, just in case that helps lol)

Question: Easy Way To Make A Flash Integrated Webpage?
Hey guys,
I'm currently in the process of trying to make a website (to be used for typical personal website stuff.. like blog/reviews/etc)
I've made a couple in the past, just by designing something simple in photoshop and then using the slice tool.. and importing it all into Frontpage .. (im sure it all sounds very newbish to all you pros )
This time around I want to make something with flash... but not 100% flash dependant..
Like, I want a mix... some html and php for the news posting, some flash for the intro, maybe the navigation bar..etc.
My question is, is there a simple or "mainstream" method of applying flash to your webpage design? I'm definitely no pro (very very little experience with flash, but willing to learn from tutorials etc). I'm afraid it might turn into a nightmare, trying to put flash coponents at some parts of the site, and have it work together with the non flash stuff...
I'm not sure if I explained well enough, but I hope someone can help

HELP: My .swf File Shows Up Blank On My .html
I'm trying to place a flash .swf on my .html web page but it shows up blank and doesn't load, whereas when I switch the movie for any other movie I made beside the two in question, they show up just fine, perfect, even. [F8] SWF File Shows Long After Going To Page
Help. I have a Flash swf file that is approx 5 mb. I've created a pre-loader that should run the preloader until the entire movie is loaded. Unfortunately that is not happening correctly. When I go to a browser to the URL that this file is uploaded to, the movie (including preloader) does not show up until the movie is at around 75% loaded. Even when I take out the preloader completely, I get the same results that it loads about 75% of the movie before it shows even the first frame. All I see is white and I can't have this. If anyone can help, please do. I'm desperate for this to be working properly.
Here is the link to the movie, you should be able to see what is happening. (white page for a minute or so, preloader for 10 seconds maybe, then the movie) I want preloader as soon as I go to the URL.

How To Click The URL Link And Make It Open A New Webpage Or Load In The Same Screen

When I click a link at my flash page, it will go and open another swf file. But when it opens the other file, it doesn't open it on another IE.
1) How to I get that link, upon click, open another IE and load the other swf.
2) My initial though was to have another swf open up in my main swf file. Like a window in the same screen. But I do not know how to do it.

How To Make Button Stay Selected When Clicked (link To Webpage(
Hello. I have made a basic flash movie with several buttons. I have it currently to where each button, when you roll the mouse over the button, changes color. When you click on the button, it takes you to a webpage (the complete page is in an html frame, with the top frame being the flash movie, and the bottom frame, called "bottom" containing the linked webpage.
What I cannot figure out how to do keep the button in its selected state after it has been clicked (and the mouse leaves the button). I want each button to maintain it's "over" state when it has been clicked (its webpage is in the bottom frame) to show what page is currently loaded below. How can I do this? As is now, after clicking the button, the webpage loads below, but as soon as the mouse stops hovering over the button, the selected state goes away.

If A User Doesn't Have Flash, GIF File Shows Up?
I have honestly never heard of this, but someone told me awhile ago that when you publish the .swf file from flash you can check an option that will give you code to replace the .swf with a .gif if the user does not have flash.
Is this true? I tried to search, but I really had no clue what to search for.

Starting Webpage With Swf File
I am making an intro swf file for a website of the logo and I want the video to load before the website when you access the website. Then I have a button that is supposed to load the non flash website. How do I do this?

File Uploader Shows Progress Bar Go Full, No Data Uploaded
Hey guys,

Can you check out my script? It is sorta working...It goes thru the progress bar and displays results from ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, and it seems like it would be complete...event.bytesLoaded goes till it matches event.bytesTotal.
however, the programmer says that its not actually uploading the file, and that the HTML form test does upload.
Can you see anything off the back that could be messing this up? It ALWAYS comes back with an IOError #2038.
This site is supposed to launch tomorrow morning, and I really don't want to miss the deadline because of something thats my fault...Any ideas would be MUCH appreciated!
