Record The Date & Time Each Time The Flash File Is Played
Hello,

Do you know an action script which will be inserted into each flash
file that is played on a stand alone display monitor.
The display monitor plays several separate flash files using load an un load movie. The script should do
the following:
1. Record the date & time each time the flash file is played
2. Record the file name that played
3. Append this information to a text/log file
This application would be used in-house and is not for the web. I did check out this tatorial useing XML but I counldn't get it to work.

Cookie.setCookie(xmlobj)
and the second way is this:

yourxmlobj.toString() FSCommand("save","filename.xml")

If Intro Has Been Played Before, Don't Play It Again
Is it possible to check if an intro has been cached (i.e played before)- and jump straight to the site?

For example, Is the intro cached? If YES load Main.swf > If NO Load Intro.swf

Its just that the intro is quite long and it gets boring looking at it everytime the site loads!

i am tinkering about with the flv player player.
I am trying to get the time(length) and time played to display.
From what i see the metadata.duration only displays in seconds.
Does anyone know the code to turn this into a properly displaying formatted time for the flv?

my problem super newbie problem is this:

i have a flash movie and i want to link it to another webpage after it is done playing. i would like to know the actual code i should use, HTML, JS, Etc. to accomplish this.

Load Movie Clip After A Certain Amount Of Time/frames Played
I'm making a site out of flash with different sections accessed from a main menu. I'd like to be able to access any section from any section. Each section has an into and outro. I'd like the section to intro in, display the info, and then when another section is selected have the current section outro before the next one intros. All of this with externally loaded swfs inside a movie clip. So i need a button (set in the main movie) script that does this in plain english:
On release play currently loaded external swf for "N(frames or seconds)"
Then load this external swf into the same container to replace the previous one.Is it possible, or is there a better way of going about this? Thanks!

Play Intro For 1st Time Users Only
Does anybody know of a way or technique in FLASH MX to Play Flash intro only for first time users?

In other words i have someone who wants to play the animation 1 time for the first time user for that day.

I've tried to set cookies but the problem with that is when you hit the back button it plays again anyway.

any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Skip Flash Intro This Time Only V. Skip Always

I am currently looking for code that would allow the visitor to choose whether or not they want to skip the intro only during this visit or if they would like to skip it permanently. I currently have a script that places a cookie on the users machine and automatically does not show the intro for up to 30 days afterwards. However, I am needing something a bit more flexible instead that allows the user to choose.

Flash 4 - Quirk When Played In 5
Hi.

I designed a multi-swf movie in MX which needed to be published in 4. I used all the deprecated action script (tell target etc.) and it published without any warnings that it wouldn't work. It works fine in Flash 6, but in Flash 5 there is one quirk, an audio swf that just won't load/play.

Is there a difference maybe between publishing for 4 and exporting to 4?

NEED ADVICE: Sound In Flash Played On Mac
Okay, I have a couple of narration audios at 22kHz, mono, 16 bit about 30 seconds long.. synchronized with animation.

When I export the movie and play on PC, it runs fine with the animation.... but, when I play the swf on Mac.. the animation lags big time.. and this happens on a G4 with 640mb RAM, which rids of any memory-related issue.

So, I don't know what the problem is... but, I suspect it has something to do with some Mac specific issue with flash.

Has anyone experienced anything like this? does anyone have suggestions or advice on how to make it consistent between platforms.

External Avi Files Played In Flash...
ok , I read a few things on this, also went top to bottom on many topics, help section you name it. So here I am now.

Issue: Enabling avi control in a flash enviorment and or playing said avi.

Issue#2: conversions are poor, very poor compaired to the orignal , this is for personal use for my clan in a game called planetside. I have been using, Blaze media Pro for my editing and Fraps for my openGL captures. Which has worked really well. However the smallest of movies are just plainly too long when importing to flash. I would assume that there would be a way and or a third party software (realtivly cheap) that allows for easy setup of videos within a flash enviorment.

Oh, yes I have tryed many of the moduals avalible at macromedia, thou needless too say they don't do the job I require to well. Any thoughts or ideas would be most appreciated.

Overall Concept: Ability to play AVI movies within flash and able to stop/select and play said movie clips of in game action.

Again, willing to buy somthing if it's worth while, as the above software I have full versions of and are very nice, but converting our site to full flash has some drawbacks, however as you can see here http://www.enclaveoilrig.com/

Is there a way to detect if this sound has been played, and then (and only then) will the movie continue to the next frame.

p.s. can this be applied so that multiple sounds have to be played through once to continue?

Can any one tell me how can my flash play the last played audio? I have around 5 buttons and 4 scenes in my movie. Every scene starts with an audio and every button has an audio. What ever audio I hear last should play when I presss the replay sound button. So how can I track the last played audio?

Cue To Next Frame After Flash Video Is Played.
Basically, I have a video that I have converted to flash video using the encoder. I have imported this video into the first frame of my project. After the movie plays, I would like it to cue a frame with a picture. I will then stop the project on that picture....and that will be the end of it.

I did place a cue point at the end of my video when I encoded it. I thought I could then give an action script command at this cue point to send it to the next frame which would be my picture.

Two problems:

1. Not sure of the cue point action script to give for the "event value" so that it will go to the next frame.
2. My project basically consists of two frames. The first frame has my whole movie, the second from has my ending image. I need to know what script to add so that the project starts with the movie, plays it all the way through, then goes to the frame with the image.

I hope this makes sense.

Now I went and complicated things. I would like to move into a tweened set of frames instead of just one frame. what would the script look like for that.

Need To Download A Video That's Played In Flash

There is a guitar site that has some great 10 second tips and stuff that I want to save to my HD so I can make a little library of them for practice. I can't figure out how to save the vid though. I've tried all sorts of downloaders and stuff but all they save is the .swf of the graphic that plays while the video loads.

I looked at the source and this is what the src of the embed tag is:

Okay, I'll explain my problem thoroughly. When playing my flash cartoon on the internet, it lags like crazy and the sound doesnt match the voices or ANYTHING. I have a load bar that works, so i know that a preloader isn't the problem. But i've had good cartoons really dissed because of this problem. ANY INSIGHT OR HELP WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED!

How To Prevent People Asking How To Prevent "click To Activate And Use This Control"
When I visit the fourms, I keep seeing these questions about how to disable
"click to activate and use this control". Its really annoying and
disrupting my web experience. I do know this really this is a blatant
attack on Adobe and Flash by Microsoft and is obviously related to the Adobe
takeover of Macromedia, and probably also related to the fact that it is now
impossible for anyone to install Flash Player (which Adobe is ignoring
because their support is so useless since the takeover). Is there something
I can do to prevent these questions being posted? I've searched all the
forums and cannot find any information. Surely someone else has had this
problem.

my problem is ...when i see the preview of the movie in flash....the bitmap quality is good..whereas if i play the output outside in a flash player...the images r distorted...wat cud be the reason for this..and how can i rectify it..????

A Mac-created Flash Movie Is Unclear When Played On A PC
I work for a design firm. We are currently putting together several flash movies. We have Mac machines and Flash MX 2004. The problem occurs when the swf file is played on a PC or, if its posted on the web, and opened on a pc. The content is unclear and pixilated. Does the Pc format stretch the window or soemthing? What can be done to prevent this or improve the quality on a PC? Please Help!!!!

Best Method Of Compression When Importing Video Into Flash To Be Played As An Swf
i am currently making an a presentation application in as3 which plays video and has overlays over the video. In order to keep synchronization the video and overlays are combined as an swf file. The problem i have is the imported flv video which is only 2mb before importing it into flash grows to about 7mb when exported as an swf and i see no improvement in picture quality.

i understand there must be a sacrifice of bigger file size to get the video playing as an swf i just want to know the optimum settings i should be using to get the best results. I was ripping from dvd, compressing, then importing into flash.Should i do my first compression when importing into flash? and if so what settings should i be using. I just want low quality broadband friendly video in swf

Control Flash Frame Played From Html Page
Is there a way to control a flash movie from the webpage you are on? I have a single swf that is just a slide show but the client wants the flash movie to start on slide "x" and so on depending on what page you are on in the site.

So at home page it will start on frame 1("start") and on the menu page the swf needs to start at frame"x"("menu")

Any suggestions?

Using Variable In ASP To Select Which Label Is Played Within Flash Timeline.
Basically i have a link which acts as a return button which brings the user back to the intro page of my webpage...As the page is split up I have the flash content on 2 seperate asp pages (Intro & Main).

From my main page I would like to refer back to the intro.asp but instead of playing the full animation that plays id like for it go straight to the label 'start' within the flash document.

It's an MP3 of a podcast which has been working fine everywhere I've tested
it. But we just heard from someone who says that when she tried it, the

Making Flash Open Windows Media Player And Close After The Movie Has Played
Hello People.

I'm stuck on this, and really need help fast as it's to be in today.

I've made a presentation that if left will start cycling automatically through my work. The only problem is, is that it needs to play my AVI at the end.

I can't import the AVI into Flash because it's 40Megs, and Flash just can't handle the sound and images at the same time.

Is there anyway of getting Flash to open up Windows Media Player, playing the movie then closing it down again?

At the moment I'm using the geturl to open a webpage with the video in it, but this sticks it shrunk at the side of the window and you have to click to maximise it. Which kinda runs the automaticness of it.

Can any of you help.? I need help quickly.

I have a flash movie playing in a layer that has the effect of dropping down on the page, and it has a form that must be filled out before continuing. The form is in flash. I want to prevent this movie from playing again if the user is still browsing the site and returns to this page in that session until the browser window is closed. Is there a way to do this in flash or is this a cookie thing?

When I make movie clips that act as buttons using the Tell Target method or something similar I have a problem that if you roll from the Flash movie onto the HTML too quickly it will freeze in the position it was left at and the resumes when you roll back onto the Flash movie. Is there any way to prevent this?

Prevent Flash Download
I'm serving up flash content through an IE browser that I really don't want stolen. I've been able to stop it from caching, or being accessed directly with file permissions.

However, there are all sorts of obnoxious programs like "Sothink SWF Catcher" and "Flash Catcher" that have no problem at all downloading the swf files. I've tried a number of things to stop them, including embeds and framesets, but I haven't gotten anything to work.

Does anyone know how to thwart these things?

I have read a few articles about ways to prevent Flash from caching, not sure what I'm doing wrong. I have a flash file that grabs data from an ASP file using a Flash Shared Object. The code to embed the Flash file in the asp page is:

There are 2 flash files that pass the variables between them to keep track of the user. That is done using a Flash Shared Object. Here is the code in the 1st of the 2 files (index.swf):

It checks if the email_so object is empty (not passed from the other flash file) and it grabs the variables from the ASP file, and/or it grabs them from the other swf file (proj.swf).

I'm not very familiar with the usage of FSOs, so I'm not sure what's going wrong and where.. because when I try to log in with other variables, the old ones keep popping back. I even tried deleting the files off the FTP server and re-uploading them and those old variables are still there!!!

HELP How To Prevent Printing From Browser/Flash
NEED HELP!!

I have a small project where the client wants to post information in Flash on a web site, but DOES NOT want the viewing users to be able to print out the information on that Flash doc.

Of course there are many ways to actually do this... Print Screen function and other software... but I don't care about that.

I need to prevent users from printing out the information from browsers (Explorer and Netscape) or from the Flash contextual menu.

Any thoughts on this??

I need help... I have a client that needs me to put information into a Flash doc and post on a web site that will prevent users from printing out the information. They need a "view-only" Flash document that prevents making a hard copy (printed page) of the info.

Of course you can print out using Print-Screen or another software program to capture the screen image. But this cannot be avoided.

I am only concerned with preventing them from printing out 1) from a browser (Explorer, Netscape, etc.) and 2) from the Flash contextual menu (right-clicking on the Flash doc in a browser).

Prevent Flash From Loading On Another Server
I would like to stop my flash from loading on another server.

I have about 75 clients that I want to be able to load the flash on their server, but if anyone else tries to copy and paste the HTMl to hijack to hijack toe flash file, either in frames or pop up windows, I want it to show an invalid message.

SWF is hosted on my server.
HTML files hosted on clients server.

The approved domain name will be called from a text file using Loadvars.

What is the best way to do this?

Hi all,

Recently i'm helping a client running some online promotion with a flash game as part of the activity. However, there is some hacking problem going on. The highest possible score is 1500 can i have score above 1500 coming in.

Asking a few friend and found out there is some program like tSearch that can change the hex value of the swf and thus "hack" the game.

I'm wondering did anyone of the forumer ecounter this before. How do you guy usually prevent your flash game from hacker like this..
