[CS3] How To Delay Html Content Until After Flash Content
I am working on a site where I want to have a few flash elements on the page ( i.e the navigation and the logo. ) to animate in before the the a block of text ( in a div) will be shown. The flash elements will stay on screen and be used after loading as the nav with interaction.

I don't want it to be a true flash intro before the site ( I already have one actually). I would rather it be a sequence that becomes visible as the page loads.

As I am typing I am wondering if this needs to be done in javascript or if it can be done via the embed parameters.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Making Buttons Within Movie Clips Interact?
I'm a Flash newbie who just got a job that entails working with some Flash. I'm picking it up well enough, but some of the stuff is more advanced than I'm used to... so I'm really not quite clear on WHAT I should look for or ask since I'm not familiar enough with the program yet. So I'll explain my problem as best I can.

For example, there's this training program flash that features three 'matrices' side by side. Each matrix is a movie clip, and within each there's a series of buttons you hit to make more buttons appears.

The problem is, I need to be able to hit a button in Matrix A to make new buttons appear over in Matrix B... but then the stuff in Matrix B doesn't 'react' to the fact there are buttons there and will make the usual buttons appear over them, instead of how normally within the matrices, if you click one button, and then another, the first button's sub-buttons go away and are replaced with the new ones.

I hope this is making sense...

So, how can I make a button in one movie clip tell a button in another movie clip to do something and vice versa? Or is it impossible and I need to remake it all some other way? (I didn't make the file to begin with- I'm working with something the guy before me made.)

URGENT: Flash Navigation Embedded In Html That Link To Frameset Content In Html
Hi all,

I want to build a website that consists of a menu navigation (made in flash but embedded in a topframe in dreamweaver. On the left site, there would be some flash animations (images etc.)embedded in the leftframe and in the right/main frame, there would be either flash content or html content (depending on the content). The menu bar is made of 7 buttons; when you mouse over a button, you get a scrolling menu with different items, those buttons items have a rollover effect and when you click on one of this items it will load either a flash or html content in the right/mainframe of my dreamweaver site. My question is what is the best way to build this navigation bar so that when i click on one of this item, it will load the correct content in the right/main.frame.html. When this occurs, i want that the scrolling menu still displays while the content is loading so that when the visitor have seen the content, he just needs to click to another item to load the content (so no ectra step). Please help me with this as it urges.

Totally Lost - How To Develop Buttons And Lists To Interact With A Database?
[using flash 8 pro]
I am so out of my league here it isn't even funny.

I need to develop interface components, similar to the list and combo box components, that will allow the user to choose from around 25 search criteria and then click a "GO" button to send their search request to a database. Some input text fields will be needed as well.

I am writing this because my experiments with the components in Flash 8 pro have revealed they stop working if any movement is applied to them. I need to use them in a movie clip that moves around. To help explain, I have attached the entire thing here. Run the swf, click on the big "Search" button and you'll see what I'm talking about. The list component there should have two rows of text visible: "blah1" and "blah2". There is no text.
GET THE FILE
All I need help on is:
-Should I use components to do this? I'll need lists, comboboxes, and text entry fields.
-Should I custom make the UI things I need?
-Is this even the right way to design such things that interact with a database?

Flash Going Over HTML Content
If you go to www.yahoo.com, over to the right you'll see a tiger woods advertisement (the one on tv, for buick or whatever) but the ad content is not what i'm after, it's how they get the content to fly accross the other html content, even making the html content disapear for a moment, only then to reappear once the flash movie is done. I love this affect, but can not for the life of me figure out how they're doing this. It obviously looks like his has to do more than just Flash, probably Dreamweaver too, any thoughts? I am trying to get an interactive Flash butterfly button to fly around a html page, over top of the different pictures and text in the html.
I'm sure this has been answered before, but I must not be using the right terms in my searches.

I have seen flash on websites where it is a small banner ad and when you click on it or roll your mouse over it, it becomes large and goes over the page.

Does anyone know how to do this or what it is called as I am making some online help and this would work well.

Hi everyone,
I was wondering how you get content to appear in a browser so that it appears over static content line html and stuff, without resizing or re-orienting the page.
I saw today that on the msn homepage, there are advertising the new msn 8. It opens over the text and images.

Can anyone tell me how that effect is done in flash and where I can go to get a tutorial?

Getting Flash To Play Over HTML/CSS Content

I am trying to get a flash drop down menu to play over the top of HTML content. I have built the site using a simple 3 column CSS template, and whilst I can get the Flash menu to play over the top of the CSS in most browsers (using Z-Layers), I am having trouble getting it to work in IE6.

Sliding Flash Ad Over Html Content
You know those annoying flash ads that you see sliding over the html content with the close button? Well, I was asked to make one. Personally I hate em, but I have seen threads on here asking how to do it, so I thought I post up a quick example. It uses the swfObject. Tested in IE6, IE7, FF 1.5+, Opera9.0 and NetScape. Nothing really ground breaking but thought someone might be interested

Html Layer On Top Of Flash Content
I am attempting to place a html div on top of flash content. I'm showing an absolutely positioned div by simply setting display='block' from a button in the flash movie. The layer shows fine in all browsers except firefox. I have tried setting wmode to transparent, and z-index to a high number with no effect. For some reason, flash content is always on top with firefox. This is one occasion where IE is working exactly how I want right out of the box. Any help, pointers, info would be greatly appreciated.

This thing has been keeping me puzzled since day one.....can anyone please tell me how to do a flash menu like Ultrashock, Flashlevel.net & 2advanced.net, whereby when you click a button on the top flash menu, it calls a HTML page without refreshing the flash menu itself?

Flash Navigation With HTML Content
I have a Flash navigation/header, with HTML content. However, I do not want the flash animation refreshing every time a button is clicked...I would like for the button to go to it's 'on' state, and the content load below.
My guess is I would have the content be opened in an iframe or frame, and the flash somehow knows to send getURL, and then go to it's on state?

Switching Between Flash And HTML Content? Please Help
My site is completely flash. I need to be able to switch between flash content and HTML content in a specified area of the page. (Like a Table) can this be done in flash.

My site layout is broken up into 3 sections.

1. The Top (Advertisement & navigation) - All Flash and never changes.

2. Middle (Content area) - Flash...and hopefully HTML if possible?

3. Bottom ( All flash - This area is animated to slide up and cover all the content area (2)...and then slide down revealing new content.

Can this be done in flash.. Navigation control from top loads HTML pages in the middle section of my flash site???

Flash Content Stripped From Embedded Html
At work we have been sending html emails to our clinet with embedded flash animations. Suddenly these are being stripped out when it goes out of the building. Internally they still play within the email. outside the link to the flash file still works but won't olay as part of an embedded html email.

Any thoughts?

Managing Content - HTML & Flash Sites
Hello,

I'm creating a site that will maintain two versions, HTML and Flash. Is there a superior method to manage the content? Obviously, I don't want to update two sites so I was thinking of writing the content to an XML file and having both sites read from the XML. Would that be the best route? Thanks for any opinions.

Flash Controls Content Of HTML Page
I have a flash menu for the top of a website that is sat within a table.
I have used tables within dreamweaver to arrange the content.
I have two tables underneath the menu area (one for content and one for adverts and other things). I'd like the flash menu to control the content of those tables.

i.e. The flash button on the menu can point to either the table or probably more likely the <div> tag within that table. As <div> tags can have ID names.

It was my assumption that you would use GetUrl command to point to the ID name used on that particular <div> tag. Is this correct?

I know that GetUrl can point to a frame name, but I didn't want to use frames.

I aim to change the content of a table or div area with a button in flash. If anyone has any other solutions, I'm all ears as I'm about to start this project and I'm scared I'm going up the wrong path.

Flash Navigation - Html Content And No Frames?
Hi,

I was about to make a website with frames; top frame for flash navigation, music player etc. and bottom layer for html main content. This design is ok, but everybody hates frames (including me) and now I noticed that scrolling the main content looks silly because text is disappearing under the top frame.

What I want is that flash doesn't refresh and stop music playback while browsing the main content. So do you have any alternatives to frames?

Is it truly possible to change content in a div? That would be a great way to do this. Have anyone tried this or know something about AJAX?

Hi, I'm working on a website done mostly in html, however I do have a couple of buttons made in flash.

The thing is, I'd like these buttons to change the content of the frames within the main html, and not change the whole page.

Expandable Flash File, Over Some Html Content
I was wondering if someone could help me with this. I would like to have a title bar with a learn more above a couple images and links. I want the images and links below to be html.

The learn more in the title bar would expand when clicked over top of the images and links with diff content. Basically I'm thinking it would be easiest to do this like those ads on ESPN or Yahoo etc(i think they are called Fatboy, at least by Pointroll they are). I'm guessing I'll need to have the flash with transparency and on it's on layer using some css.

Anyone have any links to a tutorial or give me some insite as to the best way to achieve this?

Layering Transparent Flash Content Over HTML
ActionScript 2.0...Need Help.
I am trying to display transparent Flash content over HTML, without disabling the html links under the flash.

here's my example:

so when you rollover Services the drop down displays nicely over the html but when you go to click on "Virtus Financial Group" the link is disabled b/c the flash content is published on top as transparent. But "Jason Champion Outdoor" link works fine b/c it is below the flash.

Is there any way to enable the html links under the flash menu?

Flash Parsing Html (reading Web Content)
Hi guys,

I'm wondering if someone could point me in the right direction (i.e. keywords or documentation)...I'm looking to have flash grab webcontent and display it in flash (Flash may be running as an .exe on a users desktop). As I remember it (been a while since I worked with flash + actionscript), flash can read xml files but what about just html?

For example if I wanted to grab random images from Google Images and display them in a movieclip and possibly file them away as well, would this be possible with standalone Flash (even on the desktop)?

Would I be better off trying some other technology? I like flash for the slick UI.

Imagine that you had a simple two frame HTML page, on the bottom frame there is a .swf that contains buttons, the top frame contains the content in various formats.

Breaking Paragraphs In Flash With Dynamic HTML Content

I need help with my problem, here's what the scenario is: I have a XML file generated from PHP that feeds and string value for me to popluate in a textfield inside a component, however I need to display the first graph only. I've search the forum and came across the search and replace codes, which I think I can use partially. Here's what I did:

From Flash To Html; Changing Content Without Reloading The Web Page
Hi, my website has a flash menu that is a little bit annoying to see reloading everytime people hit a button. So i would like to set the buttons action to send a javascript variable or something like that. This way the html content, above the flash could change with a javascript include which would use this variable to know what page should be included... something like that.
I don't know how to do this (flash to javascript and the use the variable to include a page content)

Can anyone help me? If you have a better way to fix this problem I'm open to every suggestion..

HTML Page Scrolls When Trying To Scroll Flash Content
Hi, I tried searching if there's a thread regarding this however I can't find one.

I'd I did some experiments on flash cs3 regarding scrolling content on a long HTML page with a scrollable flash content inside it, both for AS2 and AS3.

I seem to notice that AS2 swf files(even running under flash player 9) is able to lock the html page scrolling when the mouse pointer is over the swf content. AS3 doesn't however but there seems to be something working about it ..I was wondering where to ask or email regarding this problem, to any adobe staff, cause I seem to question how does a TextField class in AS3 able to lock scrolling of the page when you have a textfield instance in the flash content that is also scrollable(it scrolls first and when there's nothing to scroll, the html page continues to scroll). If anyone can contact or post somewhere regarding this issue? Please notify us here too.. it's really frustrating to not having implement a planned feature. Thanks!

Building Dynamic Flash Content Based On Php/html

I was wondering if you can create dynamic FLASH content from a PHP website... that is, creating the Flash content based on the actual PHP backend not the PHP functions... Is that possible? I know FLASH supports PHP but can you import the whole PHP backend in FLASH? or do you have to re-create the PHP backend in FLASH?

Site Architecture - FLASH Menus Driving HTML Content?
I'm not quite sure if this is the best FORUM for this question...but...here it is -

My question revolves around the conventions used when employing FLASH menus that are designed to navigate through HTML content.

The architecture I’m most familiar with is the use of HTML FRAMES to implement this type of structure. One frame receiving the .swf menu, the other/s receiving HTML content dictated by the FLASH menu.

I’m wondering if there are any other approaches to this type of layout that differ form the technique described above. If so, what would they be and how are they implemented.

The other aspect to this question is how the set up a FRAMES document to be search engine compatible; i.e. to ensure that the FRAMES document that carries the content pages (the holder for lack of a better description) is the page that becomes the URL registered rather then the documents that contain the content. This seems to be a problem with this type of architecture. I’m wondering if anyone has a clue how to work around this situation.

I have flash menu which i use in Dreamweaver.My website layout is in tables in Dreamweaver. I learnt how to use getURL to navigate menu buttons to change content for certain framesets. However Frameset are HELL! to resize.

Ok Ive been told to make my entire site in Flash, but b4 I do, was told I can use a Javascript to swap image on my HTML page.

I know this sounds long winded and pain. I'm more interested to see if there is a solution. Even if you all say convert to flash website design. which i will.
I would be over the moon if some1 can solve this...as many other forums has no idea.

Problems Pulling Html Content From TXT File To A Flash Text Box
Okay, I am pulling variables in to Flash from a text file and displaying them in a dynamic text box. Everything looks great and works fine, except that when I add links to articles like . . .

The “&” in the link terminates the variable. Is there a way to fix this? Many links seem to have one. In fact 8 of the 12 links I am working with have one.
