Interactive Layers Over An Interactive Flash File
I've always been frustrated at the fact that dynamic text and images pulled into flash have not been able to be spidered by the search engines.

So, with a client site I'm developing, I'd like to try something different. I'm wanting to create a flash file with buttons that when clicked, open up the flash and create a blank area in the design where a div layer can be placed on top of the flash, positioned in such a way that it looks like it is part of the flash itself. When you then click on a seperate button on the flash, the div layer hides itself, and another div layer appears according to the relevant section of the flash you have chosen.

I might not be explaining myself very well, but for anyone following what I'm sayinig, has this been done before and does anyone know how?

Problem : A Really Interactive Movie For An Interactive Web Page
Hi I am part of a hockey team and I want to build a website where people could specify if they come to play and when...

My question is : Is it possible to have a page in which people could move the items of a flash movie, and that those modification (telling others what they plan to do) stay even if your reload the page? In order that anyone going on the page could see the number of people coming and modify the animation to tell if they come or change their plans...

[F8] How To Make An Interactive Swf Still Interactive While Playing In Another Swf
Sorry the titles a bit long winded but that pretty much what I need to do. On our website I've got popups showing examples of work, so far these have only been jpegs or swf's that arnt interactive, ie they just loop. I now want to add a popup with an interactive swf, one where when the mouse moves over a part of the image, the image scrolls. Ive done this but when it opens nothing happens, someone mentioned 'nesting' but I'm still not sure what im doing!

Interactive Flash On TV
Hi,
Anyone knows about running interactive flash movies on the Set tops? Any site or Tutes there? Im talking about highly interactive flash movies and a lot of animation..what does one have to take care of if running on a TV?

This is a Firefighting situation as the Microsoft TV doesnt support flash 5, so whatever i have done i would have to make it again in flash 4...

Flash Interactive CD-ROM
I am very comfortable working with Flash and I would like to design a CD-ROM that autostarts for BOTH pc and mac.

I have Director, however I am not as fulent with it as Flash. Can I create a bad-ass presentation in Flash and then import the .swf into Director and export the projector?

Interactive CD In FLASH?
Hey Peeps,

1. I am creating an interactive cd in flash. I was wondering about a few action scripts that I can use. For instance I was wondering how do I make a button target to a .pdf file in a folder and open up outside of the flash file? What is the action script for that?

2. How do I go about having the action script for the button open images in a new window when you click? Take in consideration I will be running this off a CD/Local Directory and not on the web so I dont know if I am able to do "get url" function.

3. I know Macromedia Director is probably easier to use in this aspect but I dont have the program and I dont have the time to waste searching for it on MIRC soo could anyone help me on this aspect?

4. If you have created an interactive cd in flash and compiled it as an .exe file what other bugs did you find? I am using flash mx 6.0 just as an FYI.. HELP!

Interactive DVD Using Flash
hello,

I am making a flash animation and i have questions to ask:

1) What should the flash size dimension for the presentation should be?

2) If i have video that i want to import to the library what settings for the encoder should I use? (I want the best video quality)

3) I want to be able to put a play, fast forward, rewind, stop, and a pause
button. How do I do that? (Just like when you use quicktime player/ for the video that i imported)

Flash And Interactive CDs
Hey everyone --

I'm an novice to intermediate level Flash designer and a newbie to the site -- so please be gentle.

Anyway, I've been given the task of creating an interactive CD that will have access to several Excel and PDF forms and work as a checklist as the user moves through the CD. The user's progress will have to be saved or recorded somehow... and I have two weeks to get it done.

It doesn't have to be done in Flash, however, it's the only solution that I can imagine where the user will be able to have some sort of interaction. The only problem is that I don't know how to save the user's progress.

I don't need complete solutions -- but I am looking for a push in the right direction. Any help is appreciated and many thanks in advance!

FLASH Interactive Map Of The US
Hey guys I need some help, does anyone have a clean interactive flash map of the United States. I really have absolutely no idea what I am doing with flash, but I am sure that I will figure it out.

FLASH Interactive To CD/ROM

I am currently working on a CD/ROM for my company. I am planning on creating this in FLASH(obviously). It will have imported videos linked from menu buttons. I will need to burn this to the CD/ROM to give to clients, etc..should I publish these as projector files? ANY help with info on creating this type of project would be great since this is new to me. Interactive Flash
I am working on a site for a woman who has written a children's book, I want to do a pop-up page that has a player in it that displays a few pages from the book. I want it to have the little "turn the page thing" at the bottom so that the person viewing the site can flip it to the next page, and it has the animation that looks like the page is actually turning. I know this can be done, because I have seen it, but I usually stick with simple stuff in Dreamweaver, because my customers have never asked for anything like this. So, I guess now I need to learn Flash. Can anyone help me on this?

Interactive Cd-rom In Flash Mx

I want to make an interactive cd-rom using flashMx and I wondered is this better for the user in terms of waiting for files to show if they are not on high speed internet. Does it file size matter since it will all be on the disk?

Should I Do It In Flash For An Interactive DVD Rom?
I have been asked to build a DVD rom which will contain videos, intros, etc but is also a reflection of their current website with the contents in there.

It will have a video intro and then finished to reveal a menu to navigate thru the contents like their website.

I was thinking, maybe Flash is the way to go here. I need it full screen though and it must be able to be played on DVD players. Is this possible with Flash and if so, how should I be directing this project.

I working on the following script(which I got on the net) to generate interactive voronoi diagrams. At the moment additional points on the clip are done by clicking with the mouse, but I would like to amend the part which adds new dots (blue highlighted)so that I can:

option 1: type in the x and y location values of the dots instead

option 2(prefered): link this input of dots to a dynamically generated x and y values from Max/MSP tracking system.(through flashsever).

Interactive Flash Application
I need to create an interactive Flash application that will allow multiple areas on a map of districts to be selected and change color when selected. The user may select one or more districts on the map, but as he makes his selction, each new area will become highlighted. No area will unhighlight unless he clicks on it again. Permissions will be assigned via database so that he will only be allowed to select the districts for which he is a representative. He would get an error message if he chose a district outside his jurisdiction.
I am a beginner is Flash and am learning it because of this project (and because it gave me the perfect excuse to learn it!!!). I have a rudamentary understanding of animation but that's it. I'm need of help BIG TIME.

Javascript To Flash 4 Interactive TV
I'm trying to get a Flash movie to read the presses fo numbers on a remote control, which speaks to the browser on the interactive TV box, and then needs to pass messages into the Flash movie to various elements...to trigger movie clips etc. I can get the Flash movie talking to the browser with get URL...(it will only handle Flash 5, and then only with very bad grace..), but getting messages back into the Flash movie is not happening. Any help would be geratly appreciated or any direction to resources..Cheers

alright, i have another question about a project im doing. I hate always resorting to asking cause it makes me feel like a n00b. But, I just can't figure it out on my own.

situation
im creating a interface based on a rotating movie clip. when the movie clip rotates, using easing, to a certain position (according to which button you press) content appears. I've tried several things and can't get the content to appear. The code seems right to me, but im still amateur.

Interactive Courses In Flash
Hi. I need help.

I'm a graphic designer for a reasonable size company (see www.bariatricsupportcenter.com). We have a large client base in the Rocky Mountain area, and are gradually expanding into international territory. As a result, our in-house classes are no longer sufficient, and we need to put our classes on the web. I have been put in charge of that task. I don't think I've ever even finished an online course, much less have any training in creating them. "They" want it done in Flash, where I have very little experience. (Go to the previously mentioned site and see the animated .gifs. That's how much experience and knowledge I have.)

So, the big question is, what is the best and/or fastest way to learn how to do a complex project? I need to create a course where information is presented, questions are asked, and the learner can input their answers. Our website is php based, and I know that Flash can integrate with php databases (that would be our programmer's job, not mine), but I need to know how to do it.

I realize this isn't an overnight project, nor something that can be completely answered here on this site. Help, yes, but complete training? Anyway, I'm just looking for suggestions, guidance, and direction.

Interactive Flash Games On DVD
I would like to know if it is possible, and how, to get an interactive game which has been made in Flash, to a section of a DVD and have the controls of the DVD remote be the controls for the game itself.

I am anticipating that the games are a menu option off the main menu from the dvd selections.

The games are fairly straight forward in their interactivity, but i am unsure how to approach this.

Interactive Demographic Map In Flash
Is there any way to create a map of a state, broken down by town that is color coded and includes sales data referenced from an Excel Spreadsheet. The end result should allow me to change figures on the spreadsheet, and have the numbers and the colors change accordingly within the map.

Interactive Flash Via Webcam
Hi there,
I am a Computer Graphic Design Honours student from New Zealand. For my Honours exhibition I would like to be able to use flash to make a webzine interactive. To do this I would like to be able to capture a flat page via a webcam, which then tells Flash what to do, depending on what the webcam can see.

I would need to be able to get flash to recognise: certain colours, certain shapes, and "hotspots" on a certain area of the screen, these would also need to be able to change when viewing different pages of the webzine.

When I view my flash page online it forces me to click on the area that is flash before I can actually interact with any of the buttons or text fields.

Is there a way to tell the browser to automatically focus on the flash that is on the html page?

I hope this makes sense. I can't think of any other way to explain this and thus had a tough time searching for answers.

I have created some interactive banners and I am having trouble loading the banners into another swf file correctly.

I know how to load a swf file into another flash movie but when I try to load an interactive banner into the file the banner interaction stops and the banner does not animate correctly.

I am also trying to load a swf file with .txt files attaced to that swf into my flash movie but when i do this the swf file load but the linked .txt doesnt load?

Flash MX Interactive Menu Help
Hi, I need some help creating an interactive menu. I'll describe what I'm doing:

1. To begin with, I have a map, with each state acting as a button that should a.) set a variable and b.) load a menu. Ideally, I'd like the menu in a listbox, which would contain an array; so if you clicked on Wisconsin, you'd get an array of items in the listbox containing cities in Wisconsin.

2. Another set of buttons would give loading commands for a movie type (for the sake of argument, I'll say a slideshow), which would get the variable from the state using the Get method, but would also add the value from the list box, like so:

[CS3] Interactive Flash Mask?
Hi all,

My experience using Flash is relatively limited, so please bear with me.

What I am attempting to do is allow users to interactively define a mask by painting with a brush. I've found various solutions in code snippets around the web, but none seem to do quite what I want. The closest is the example at the bottom of this page. That is pretty much what I'm looking for, but I need the brush to be a circle (is it possible to feather the brushes edges?) and to have the option to add to the mask (re-hiding the image below).

If anybody has any tips or pointers, it would be much appreciated.

Flash Interactive Maps
Hello,

I am looking for interactive maps quite a long time now, but can't find what i am looking for:

That is a world map with to layers: (1) all the countries in the world and (2) these countries zoomed in per continent.

On both levels i want a horizontal drag button which goes from january to december and therefore has 12 settings.

In all 12 settings i want to be able (e.g. by adjusting a XML-file) to select whether a country has color A or color B (and be able to change this later if necessary). And on the continent level i want it to be possible to click on each seperate country to go to the website of that country.

Does anybody know how i can do this myself or where i can buy this for an affordable price (it is for a noncommercial website).

That is a competitors map that the VP really likes. I'm not really the greatest in Flash, or I'd try to do it myself.

Does anyone know of a program that could possibly do something like this? Basically looking for a legend on the left with clickable plot points..

Interactive Flash Question
I have a website that I am trying to create a place where a visitor can type a name and it will display the text they type in a space above it.

I didn't design the initial flash and it currently allows you to select colors and different styles. The website is www.myboatlettering.com

And you can click on the Design Engine link to see the current site.
It changes a default text of MY BOAT LETTERING when you select font type and colors.

I want to be able to allow someone to type their own text and see what it would look like.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Interactive Flash Via Webcam
Hi there,
I am a Computer Graphic Design Honours student from New Zealand. For my Honours exhibition I would like to be able to use flash to make a webzine interactive. To do this I would like to be able to capture viewers actions via a webcam, which then tells Flash what to do, depending on what the webcam can see.

I would need to be able to get flash to recognise: certain colours, certain shapes, and "hotspots" on a certain area of the screen, these would also need to be able to change when viewing different pages of the webzine.

How To Import Interactive SWF Into Flash Doc?
I created an interactive animation in an external program called Sothink SWF Quicker and exported it to an SWF. The program is extremely similar to Flash in all aspects.

I am trying to import this SWF into my flash web page (to stage), but when I test it, it simply plays through the timeline of the SWF, allowing no interaction.

Is there something special I need to be doing to make the SWF behave the way it's supposed to? A special type of imbedding?
