Flash :: Is There A So Called "stopAllMovies"?

Is There Something Like StopAllMovies ?
I need that different movie objets stop running
at determined frame. If there are a lot of those
movies on stage it became tedious to do that task.

is there something like stopAllMovies ?.

I Do Not Know What This Is Called
So I am having problems finding information to help with doing it. At the http://www.will-youngonline.com/# website there is like a effect when the menu items change. For example the picture makes what I call a shuffling effect. Is this a mask effect? What is it called? How do I do it to my pictures?

I'm Not Sure What This Is Called
I know what I want it to do but no idea how to do it, I need something where I can enter 16 different names and then have it randomly scramble the names and match them up in groups of 2 in the next scene.

I have the .fla it has the button and all the input text boxes with instance names of name1, name2, name3 etc. then in scene 2 Im not to sure what boxes to put there but the layout is all set, but i made the boxes dynamic cause I thought thats what they should be but they dont have instance names, I may be approaching this wrong I dont know

What Is This Called And How Can I Do It
First off. HELLO. I've been to this site many times before due to its vast resources and have read the forums many times but never felt the need to post.

Now for my job ( waiter at a diner ) They are thinking of "Broadening their horizons" and I suggested they make a web site. Ive fooled with flash before but never extensively, usually stick to simple layouts with php.

What Is This Called?
I am trying to figure this out. I want to create a mc that changes size depending on the size of the picture loaded into it. But I want it to stretch small to large as they are loaded and unloaded. Is there a title for such an effect? If so, "what is this called". If anyone could point me in the right direction I would love you forever. Promise.

I dont want it to instantly be bigger, I want it to quickly stretch (grow) to a larger size.

I have about 10 thumbnails that I want to display. Four or five would be visible and when you mouse left/right the thumbnails would scroll in that direction. I'd like to do this without clicking on anything. Also, when you mouse over any one pic, that one would enlarge about 50%. I'm assuming all of this can be done with actionscript, but since I don't know what it's called, it's been hard to search for answers....any ideas?

I've been trying to search for help on this, but since I don't know what it's called, I just have to describe it.

The site is one page. No matter where you go from the nav, the main url stays the same. When you click on another part of the site from the nav, the only thing that loads is the new content. The nav stays the same and does not reload each time you go to a new page. Normally I would say that this is just done entirely in flash, but would you still be able to view the source code? So right-clicking on the nav gives you "about flash 9" and right clicking on the changing content gives you "view source". Can somebody help clarify this process or at least tell me what I can search for to find a tutorial?

I Think Its Called An Egg?
Maybe i could get a hand here.

I'm trying to create a shell .swf that would basically load another swf in the same directory. I know how to load and unload swf's however, i don't know how to set up an egg ( i.e. the AS and logic behind it ) so that no matter how many swf's i create it will play them. Hopefully, when the last swf has finished, it will loop back to the first swf.

If i'm not making sense please let me know so that i may clarify...

Not Sure What It's Called
i've been looking for an image transition effect. The first image is displayed, fades out via over exposure, then the next image fades in from that over exposure, is dispalyed and then fades out overexposed.

I'm not sure sure what iot's called or where to find this effect. Any thoughts?

Tell Me What This Is Called?

I have a scrolling graphic (left to right).
I want the graphic to stop when the mouse goes over the center.
I want the graphic to scroll right when the mouse goes between center and far right.
I want the graphic to scroll left when the mouse is positioned somewhere between far left and the center point.

I'm trying to build a slide control. I've built a button which is supposed to be dragged so that the content on the main window changes. This shoulf happen when the mouse button is released.

I've attached the following scripts to the button:

now my problem is that sometimes the on release is not called. when i do some sort of drag (still haven't been able to really see what's making this happen; it just happens...like at random intervals) and release the mouse, the on(release) is not called until i press and release the mouse again (this must be done over the button; if not the onrelease event doesn't get fired).

does anyone have any idea of why this is happening?

OnEnterFrame Never Called?
I have tried placing the following in the first frame of the movieclips parent:

this never appears to be called!!

Function Going Before Called
This is the only place I call the function:
_root["c"+i].onPress = cfd();

But it goes right away as soon as the program is run, Im new to
flash functions, what am I doing wrong and/or how can I prevent from going before the user clicks on the MC and make sure it only goes once, I've tried a boolean no luck though.

I am looking for help in designing a gallery for my photographs. Or rather, I AM designing it, but I need help on a button technique. On many photography websites, there will be a series of buttons on which to click within a certain gallery. Once they are clicked, they STAY a certain color/shape/whatever to show you that you have already once visited this "button". No matter how many buttons you press afterwards, there it still is. (Hot damn!) Can anyone help me with this/ Know what I am talking about? I would look it up in the tutorials, but I barely even know what to search under.
