Java Applet
I would like to place a java applet in my flash document. This applet enables a webcam to appear on the page. Do you know where I could find instructions on how to do that? The applet is normally placed into a html document. It looks like this.
(CaptureClient.class" width=640 height=480 align="middle">
<param name="image" value="Walk.jpg">
<param name="delay" value="20">
<param name="status" value="2">
<param name="statusText" value="Next live image in %seconds">
<param name="statusTextColor" value="#ffffff">
<param name="backgroundColor" value="#000000">
<param name="url" value="http://www.stardot-tech.com">)

Flash Vs Java Applet
Looking at this url http://www.waterontheweb.org/data/java/rvr/index.html can anyone gauge how much effort it would take to create something like this with Flash?
It is obvious that it can be created visually with Flash. However, I don't know enough about Java to assess what's going on behind the scenes and how that translates to what can be done with Flash.

Ugly Java Applet In My Swf?
Forgive me if this is dumb, but I don't even know where to start.
My client has one of those "360 virtual tour" java applets that they want to include in their site, but I have no idea how to work with this unless I just open it in a new window. Does anyone know if there's any way to...embed?...one of these things right in my movie?

Does anyone know if you can put a MX2004 Lite swf into a J2ME applet? (mobile device).
I have a small movie that must be stored in a celphone. Therefore I'm intending to use J2ME. Just like a game on your phone.
When you use the movie there will be an output. The output must also be send to a server using XML or what-so-ever.
Does anyone of the Guru's know the solution?

Java Applet Embedded In Flash SWF
Hi,
I wanted to query the forum to see if anyone has suggestions on how to embed a Java applet into a SWF.
If flash won't accept it, is it possible to cut a hole through the swf to reveal the html page beyond ... and the applet could be viewed this way, leaving the swf as a frame?
Thanks in advance,

Advanced: Java Applet In Flash
We're trying to embed a photo gallery uploader which allows users to browser their folders and files from within the flash site. I know that a java applet may be the best solution and am looking into how to access similar functionality using flash remoting.
Can I do this natively with flash and avoid using java altogether? Do we need JRUN? Can we use our Com Server for this? Can someone give me more information on how to accomplish this?
Appreciate it.

AS3 To Java Applet On Same HTML Page
I am an amateur game developer working on a class project. I have created a game in Flash AS3 that needs to send variables to a Java Applet residing on the same HTML page. (The Java Applet is a separate interactive audio engine that I am constructing for my thesis work.) Both Flash game and Java Applet work fine on their own. The solution needs to run in a web browser, but other desktop-based solutions are also appreciated.
I have not found a solution that encapsulates the usual three languages (ActionScript 3 > JavaScript > Java Applet) within a single tutorial, snippet of working code, or forum thread. I have tried piecing together countless combinations of AS3 > JavaScript and JavaScript > Java solutions, but have not yet found a successful combination. I have found an instance of AS2 > Java communication working, but aspects of the JavaScript source were not available for me to piece it together. I am not a JavaScript guru by any means, and have just recently begun learning AS3 and Java.
Herein is my current list of somewhat helpful sources:
An older article on AS3 > Java communication.
ExternalInterface
A JavaScript > Java solution
A FlashAP
JFlashPlayer
Playable Painting (Working AS2 > Java)
My current source revision attempts live here:
http://jengrier.com/PAC-Type/
Feel free to peruse any of my code as you see fit. If anyone has an example of this communication working - source or tutorials - for the full AS3 > Java Applet journey, I would greatly appreciate it. The solution doesn't necessarily need to use JavaScript, so if there are better means of achieving this that you feel would be faster or more efficient, by all means set me in the right direction. Thank you!

Inserting A Java Applet Into Flash MX
Is it possible to insert a JAVA Applet into FLASH MX File and have it run within the flash movie browser.
I can easily load the html file from the get URL but wanted to have the FLASH browser run the Applet itself. I have been searching the online help and other documentation but whenever I look for "inserting Java" it gives me documents that say how great "actionScript" is. I really don't want to rewrite all the programs in another language. Should the applets not be insertable somehow?
If I am missing something very simple, I apologize. (please tell me I'm an idiot after you point out the obvious)
Thanks,
ASH

Any Way To Put Java Applet Inside Flash?
Im building a flash site as a final project of sorts for a class I'm in. Me and a couple others decided to have a competition to see who can make the best "slime volleyball" website, similar to slimezone.com, slimearena.com, 3dslime.com etc, but in flash. The problem is, slime games are in Java.
It would make it alot easier if I could somehow embed a Java applet in my flash site. Ive tried putting it in an html supported text box, but its not working (I belive applet, embed, object tags etc are not supported in flash). You also cannot put a java applet in your library.
Does anyone have any other ideas? Any help would be VERY much appreciated.

File Access Flash Vs Java Applet
Hi,
The functionality I'm trying to achieve is a drag from local file system onto hit area of site for upload.
I know and have seen this done with Java Applets. Can it be done with Flash? Do they not both run in a similar security sandbox? Would seem odd if Java could but flash couldn't (even if requiring a security prompt to the user).
I've been looking around for the answer for a bit, wondered if someone here already knew.
Cheers

Questions About Flash Capabilities From A Frustrated Java Applet Developer
Hello everyone,
I'm pretty new to Flash. I've tinkered around with animations and such in Flash 5 a while back but didn't get too in-depth with the program.
I'm here today to find out exactly how robust Flash is and if it's possible to create something in Flash that is comparable to what is possible with a Java applet.
What I'm trying to do in Java right now is create an IRC chat client that integrates web cams (either peer-to-peer or serving video to multiple people). I've noticed in newer versions of Flash that when you right-click on a Flash presentation, you have access to properties. One of which is to whether to grant Flash access to your webcam and microphone.
This got me thinking that perhaps Flash can do more than make amusing animations and "flashy" website navigations
I'm frustrated with Java and the version inconsistencies, massive virtual machine download size for users on 56K and it's general poor performance and buggy nature.
So what I want to know is is this possible?
What do I need?
Is there a specific version of Flash that can help me accomplish this?
What ever happened to Shockwave? Were Shockwave and Flash merged into one product at one point?
How secure is Flash? Do I have to worry about people ripping off my script?
If Flash isn't an appropriate technology for this project, is there anything else out there that anyone could suggest?
Thanks alot for any help you can provide!

Flash - XML News Applet
Hi there!
I have created a flash XML RSS news Ticker using http://www.flashmagazine.com/967.htm
My problem is that once the .swf file loads with the XML file... it shows the file. But when the xml file is updated, it still uses the old file from the memory to display the messages.
I have tried adding news.Load(url) and news.onLoad(Success) to the code were it resets the counter to 0 again. - Logic being : When the SWF has gone through all the entries in the xml file, reload the xml with the newer version, if present. But that doesn't happen. It keeps displaying the older version of the file.
Please help..!!!!

Applet Present But Not Showing

That chunck of code is in the middle of the page, with some other content around it. Specifically, that content is inside a div. This works well in firefox, but in IE it loads the music, but doesn't display the player.
