I got Duplicating Movieclips down alright. I just need to figure out how to get the code in where...

I want to duplicate a Box 9 times and put them in 3 rows of 3. Like a tick tac toe board (visual aid)

I cant get the clips to make the rows correctly, and some of the tutorials Ive read through leave me hangning...dunno...

I know you can start off with a for loop... but how to make the next three start a new row.. and the next three...etc?

Anyways I wanted to see how fast I can get an answer on this question. I need to figure this out pretty quickly.

I need to include links to JSP pages that have a typical url of "mypage?action=myaction" I am finding that the url (once clicked) truncates the url to read "mypage" I have URL-encoded the link using %3f, but to no avail. Any other encoding works except the "?"

Setting A 0,0 Mark With Rulers.
I have been working with flash 5 for about 7 months and still can't figure out how to set the rulers up, so that I have control of the 0,0 mark. Question Mark (?) In GetURL
Hi,

I am having a bit of trouble with an URL in a getURL.

I have a intro page with flash on it. In the flash are buttons that should link to the 7 sections of the site. Because I am useing a CMS I have to work with a lot of parameters. The links to the sections of the site also have parameters in them. The problem is that the URL's that I put in the getURL are broken off at the ? of the parameters. Is there a solution fot his problem???

[F8] Drawing A Check Mark?
Hey all,
Newbie question about animation.

I need to create an animation of a check mark being drawn from nothing to something, as if it were being written by an invisible hand using a thick marker or similar tool. I want a check mark that is wider than a normal check mark, single line thing. Am I making sense?

Thought about keyframe by keyframe, but wasn't sure. I didn't know if I would be able to get the drawing of the check mark smooth without jerks.

Any thoughts/suggestions?

Changing The Registration Mark
I am using an empty movie clip to load images into. The problem is the images are loading with the registration mark at the top left of the image. I need the registration mark to be the center point of the images for it to work properly. Replace Quotation Mark
Let's say I have a string that has a quotation mark in it. I want to replace the quotation mark with a backslash followed by a quotation mark. I've been trying something like this:

Quotation Mark Escape Characters?
I'm using AS 2.0

I'm reading from an XML file and putting values into String format...however, the quotation marks that are in some XML entries, when I play the movie, do this:

Bounce Off Walls / Rotate On Mark
ok i am making a game, (and i KNO The graphics in this are TERRIBLE, this is just a test thing so when i do make it i allready have code and stuff so dont be yelling , im at work and real one is at home but ne way), i have 2 problems which i dont understand how to fix:
1) when my 'legs' bounce of the walls, they seem to get stuck there, is there ne way to make it so i bounce off and i dont get stuck there (test it out and u will see)
2)my gunner man doesnt rotate around the middle of the legs, i cant explain it....
3) this is sorta optional but i want, i sure i bet someday i will find tut but just to see if ne one knows. I want the rotation of the gunner to not go right at it, but eas to the angle of where the mouse is (which seems a lil off the gunner but idk) ne way to do taht?

Hitted Button Doesn't Mark...?
Nice day to everyone... I am creating many simple buttons like numbers:

1 2 3 4 5.... well, the point is that, when I roll over them, they change the color as I indicate in the frame that corresponds to... but, when I click on it... it is supposed to mark also with a different color as I also indicated in the keyframe "HIT"... but it never happens ! why ?

Timeline And Tick Mark Suggestions --
The Setup
My aim is to build a non-scroll history timeline -- It will have a large tick mark for each month, and four small tick marks in-between for each week of the month.

Each tick mark will have some content associated with it; accessed by rollover or click... leading to a pop-up with the content.

The content for each tick will be assembled from an XML doc.

Handling the Ticks
At the moment, I'm laying each tick mark separately. Instances of the tick movie clips.

My Question
Is there an easier way to layout these ticks? I'm famaliar with the Slider component, but I don't need an actual slider, and haven't come upon a way to simply add in-between tick marks.

Should I drop the individual ticks altogether and just throw in a Photoshop timeline image and put hotspots over each tick and associate the content that way?

Guess I'm just trying to get some ideas from the pros as to a better approach for a simple task like this --

Question Mark For Unrecognised Character - Mac
Hello all.

First off, if it's been asked before, please just point me to it and sorry for the disturbance.

Now ... The problem is this: I'm pasting text from another application into Explorer - (into a text field of a .swf). There are certain characters that it doesn't like. On Mac OS X it will replace the character with just a square. However, in OS 9 I get a cute little question mark character on a diamond shape inside a rounded square (if such a thing exists). I can handle that, that's cool.

What I really REALLY need to know is - what controls whether I can see that question mark character or not? A font installed on the Mac or ... ??? I can't figure it out.

See, this is being loaded up on another machine & it DOESN'T display the question mark character - in fact it skips the character alltogether. This is a Mac with the same OS, practically the same model, and the same copy of IE (5.1.7).

The character when pasted back into a plain text situation comes out like so - (Cap O with a hat, little o with a strikethrough, and an Omega).

Which would lead me to believe that it's not a font problem.

Anybody?? Please Help!

All of sudden the other day, I can't see videos or webpages designs because Safari, Firefox and even Netscape all tell me I don't have a plug-in installed for MIME type.

So I click on yes and it takes me to a page to download Flash player. I go through all the right motions to install, close browsers, etc. When Safari opens up again, I get the same pop up as noted here. I go in a big circle and I still don't have my flash installed.

Firefox tries to install it for me, but it doesn't work either. Help! Did I accidentally delete my plug-ins? What are they anyway? Can anyone help me? I called Apple and they said I need to go to the plug-in software sites, it's not an Apple problem. I want to cry.

I have a PowerPc Apple iMac G5.

GetDate To Dynamically Mark Recent Changes?
Hi guys. I have a question regarding getDate, I'm not sure if this is entirely possible or how to go about doing it so bear with me.

I'm making a blog/journal in flash that I will manually update, and there will be a list of entries in a menu. I would like the newer entries tinted red so they are obviously new at a glance. I would like them to stay red for a week, then automatically remove the tint.

So I'm guessing that when I manually update the entry, I could just plug in the current date into a field in the AS, and it would use the computers clock to find out if a week had passed or not.

Would that work? If so I would really appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction.

Question Mark Not Working In GetURL Function?
I am trying to use the getURL function to open a new window with a variable URL, but it doesn't seem to be doing what I want it to. Here is the code i am using:

The problem appears to be the question mark. If I remove the question mark it works fine.. but I need to use the question mark because the rest of the info is just information I am having popup.htm interpret.

Trade Mark Symbol In Dynamic Textfield
I'm trying to make a register trade mark symbol and a copyright symbol work in a dynamic textfield.
I have an xml file with text wrapped in a CDATA tag when I add my register trade mark symbol it shows up as a full size symbol not the correct Superscript size when loaded into my dynamic textfield.

How To Get A Tick Mark On The Right Answer Instead Of A Square Root
Another problem that i seem to be facing is that in a matching puzzle game. Its basically for kids, in which they have to match the names of the fruit. On clicking the wrong button for answer, X will appear, and for clicking the right button for the answer a tick mark will appear. Now eveything seems to be wokring just fine EXCEPT when i copy the tick mark from the character map and paste it into the script which is :

Mark/draw An Area With Moving An Object By Keys
I am desperately looking for a way / method of 'filling an area with keys interaction';
I am a newbie with code, but I understand it and i am learning by being around here.
I understand that I might need to use the drawing api, but what I am trying to achive is a tiny bit more complicated;
it's similar to the QIX/Xonix game, where an object, situated on the stroke of a square, can be moved around the square and 'conquer' areas.
it's a 'snake' like feel, but with a different goal.

MX 2004 Not Passing Strings/variables Question Mark Problem

This actionscript won't pass names to the URL string
getURL(_root.UnitStr+"/detail.asp?unitStr="+names);
or
getURL(_root.UnitStr+"/detail.asp"+"?"+"unitStr="+names);
(Returns www.localhostInter1detail.asp)
but when i take out the questionmark and replace it with an underscore.

getURL(_root.UnitStr+"/detail.asp_unitStr="+names);
(Returns www.localhostInter1detail.asp_unitStr=1)
there's no problem passing the variable.

That is the layout of the flash intro i am workin on. The teo pipes are on the top and the bottom and will kind of start to spray water and will then get the logo for PHD all wet. Then the screen will say Do yourself a favor, hire a licenced plumber with experience. or something like that. I hope this helps.

I'm excited because it's been so hard to come up with professional looking effects, but I think this pretty much nails it until AS 3 becomes better understood.
