Jumpy Animation
I made a animation with transparent text that runs along the bottom third of the screen with images on the background that fade in and out every few frames. The text doesn't move along smoothly though. It seems to have a little jump as it goes along. Is there a way to stop the jumping? Maybe an action script or something? Thanks for your help. Jo
[F8] Animation Jumpy
hiya
i have made a real basic line drawing animation which then fades to a photograph and when i play it in flash there is no problem but the moment i publish it, the animation appears to partially stop then jumps so it appears like its missing frames or something.
i have re-edited the animation 3 times and am at my wits end.
any ideas?
Jumpy Animation
I'm doing a personal project in Flash 8 and I've used tweens quite a bit. For some reason though, my animation I'm doing is looking very "chunky". It's just a movie clip with a block of color in it that I'm moving across the stage after a button is clicked. Can anyone think of what would the cause of the jittery animation be? I'm publishing at 18 frames a second, and even if I extended the animation to give it more time, it's still jumpy. It also didn't make a difference if I used seconds or frames for the tween.
Animation Way Too Jumpy...
How can I make the animation of the buildings going down less jumpy. Please see attached file and help me out if you can.

Jumpy Animation... Any Suggestions
all my movements seem very jumpy on playback, is there a way to get them to look more fluid?
does this have to do with frames per second, or image size?
any help or suggestions would be great

Jumpy Twitchy Photos In Animation
I am using Flash MX v. 6.0 and have recently created my very first flash animation. My problem is that the photos are jumpy and twitchy when I put a tween on them. The object is supposed to appear getting closer whereas in fact I only enlarged the photo.
I have tried to place an action script on there as suggested by another forum:
_quality = "best";
But, that doesn't work. I've tried to up the fps and I've tried to alter the publish settings to 'best'.
What am I doing wrong? I know this is a simple mistake but, would like someone to outright tell me exactly what I am doing wrong. Or if there is another way for creating this effect.
I appreciate all your help.
Here is the link to my website so you can see what the trouble is.

Jumpy Swf
Ok So I have some swf's that I am starting to test out for playability, and I am testing them on dumpy PC's here and some of the older ones are having issues. The swf's start to jump a bit when I play them. Anyone have any tips on things to keep in mind to stop this from happening. Thanks....
Jumpy Sound.
finished a cd rom that works great on my pc but has slightly jumpy sound on a slower one.(obviously.)
reduced compression on mp3's to 64kbps and jpegs to 80.
still jumpy.
done one sound track as streaming. is that why it's jumpy? or is it i've got bitmaps moving around aswell that's munchin up the processor power.
this flash lark is a bit of a learning curve.
Jumpy Frames
hi -
I have a problem. I created a movie which is all on the main timeline. I created my navigation with frame labels. My problem is, when I uload my movie to the web, the navigation is jumpy and seems to "stop" at other parts of the navigation on the way to the frame label it is being directed too. It doesn't happen all the time, but it does happen. Can someone tell me how to fix this problem??

Jumpy Preloaders
I think I use the same preloading actionscript as everyone else...
basically:
total_bytes =getBytesTotal();
loaded_bytes =getBytesLoaded();
percentLoaded=int((loaded_bytes/total_bytes)*100)
but i was wondering if there is actionscript that will allow my preloader to be smoother, going from 1% to 100% with out stopping at 63% for two seconds, then zipping through 63% to a 100% in a blink of an eye.
i tried to write it myself, but no luck...and it is a pain to test.
Jumpy Scrollbar
Hi all!
here is the LINK.
The scrollbar works..everything works fine. The thing I have a question about is how the scrollbars is on "center" but when you look at it right away (without touching it or the arrows) it is off to the right a bit. But when you click on the actual scrollbar, it moves to the center. What's going on?
Any thoughts?
Thank you for your time!!
(can You Help?)jumpy Nav Engine
Hi everyone, I came across this nav engine and it looks wicked. If you click on the pages in turn you scroll smoothly forward and if you click on the first you scroll smoothly back. If your on the first page and you click on the fourth (or any other page other than the second) it jumps to that page. Can anyone add anything to the code to make it scroll smoothly both ways? Thanks

Jumpy Tweening
http://www.hrharchitects.com
It looks fine on my computer and the Laptop I'm using to check but when I get to another computer on the same internet connection the tweening of the building and "Expertise" sections isn't as smooth as it needs to be. Would preloading the movie solve this?
Thanks.

Transitions Jumpy
I have been making up a flash intro for a dvd.
Now, my problem is that locally iit works fine but once tested on another machine the transitions are all jumpy and twitchy.
I have it running at 30fps and the transitions are not that big
Just wondering if this could posibly be a mac thing.?
Or is there a setting that would smooth out transitions, so they dont just around.
It is such a small thing but it is making my intro look a little amaturesh ..

Can Anyone Help With My 'jumpy' Site?
hi i'm just finishing up this site www.pogocafe.co.uk and im havin a little trouble edging out a few problems....the main problem is that it seems to be running slow even though the entire site is 1.4mb, and the text content is loaded externally; could it be running slow because i have used an irregular font for the content and embedded it??
also i have noticed it seems to jump as i flick through the buttons on the left...usually it quickly flicks back to the home page before goin to the desired page! any ideas why this is happening?
help is most appreciated, also any comments on the design itself...
also...this is the code i have for each of the buttons on the left (obviously the .swf is changed accordingly)
on(release){
loadMovie("pogoactivism.swf",1);
}
thanks
Pages Are Jumpy
Hi,
I'm having trouble with my movie loading choppy.
I have 2 pages, bio and about that should load the same, but bio loads slower and jumpy. Also, when the pages are online, even the intro loads slower.
I attached a couple of the pages and here is a link to the site online.

Jumpy Cue Points
I have a bug within my newly created flash eLearning module. This is how it is set up:
I have a separate folder with all of my audio mp3 files within it. The action script is set up so the audio is given cue points to sync up with the content within the flash movie. When the first section is finished playing and the next button is pushed, it jumps to the last audio cue point from the previous section and begins the next section from the beginning. So you see a glimps of the next section at the last audio cue point from the previous section then it starts in the proper spot. Is the any way to aviod this?
// Functions to control the audio buttons
button1.onRelease = function() {
// change the path in this staement to load different FLV files
audio.setMedia("audio/1_1-EN.mp3", "MP3");
audio.removeAllCuePoints();
audio.play(0);
audio.addCuePoint("1_1first", 1);
audio.addCuePoint("1_1second", 7);
audio.addCuePoint("1_1third", 14);
audio.addCuePoint("1_1fourth", 25);
audio.addCuePoint("1_1fifth", 33);
audio.addCuePoint("1_1end", 39);
};
/* Begin CuePoint functionality */
listenerObject = new Object();
listenerObject.flashCueMC = this.audioSlides;
listenerObject.cuePoint = function(eventObject){
if (eventObject.cuePointName == "1_1first") {
this.flashCueMC._visible = true;
this.flashCueMC.gotoAndPlay("1_1first");
} else if (eventObject.cuePointName == "1_1second") {
this.flashCueMC.gotoAndPlay("1_1second");
} else if (eventObject.cuePointName == "1_1third") {
this.flashCueMC.gotoAndPlay("1_1third");
} else if (eventObject.cuePointName == "1_1fourth") {
this.flashCueMC.gotoAndPlay("1_1fourth");
} else if (eventObject.cuePointName == "1_1fifth") {
this.flashCueMC.gotoAndPlay("1_1fifth");
} else if (eventObject.cuePointName == "1_1end") {
this.flashCueMC.gotoAndStop("1_1end")
}
}
audio.addEventListener("cuePoint", listenerObject)
//* End CuePoint functionality *
The next section is the same but with 1_1 BEING 1_2... Everthing else works well except for this one problem.
Please help, anyone
Jumpy Fading
First of all, realize that I am VERY GREEN with Flash. I was barely able to perform the following simple task:
I want to take a series of pictures and simply have them fade in and out smoothly. I did this with two pictures, but the problem I'm having is that the transition from totally faded out to full color is not very smooth. I can easily see the transaction from one color level to the other. Is there a way to make this work smoother?
Thanks,
Jesse
Jumpy Videos
Hi
I am new to flash media server and I am having problems.
I have installed flash media interactive server on my home pc (windows vista ultimate 64bit) I have also installed media server on windows 2003 server which my friend kindly set up for me on his server.
I have practised using VOD service on the streaming server using the flv extension; I have used Action Script 3.0 to stream a H.264 video files with various buffer sizes. The videos show up no problem from both windows vista and windows 2003 server, but the problem I am having is that the playback stops and starts and is very choppy. I thought that flash media server was supposed to prevent all of that. I have tried everything I can think of to get the videos to flow smoothly but I can’t seem to figure it out. I am obviously missing something somewhere, as I get the same results from both vista and win 2000 server.
So I am looking for some clever guy that knows how to get this thing racing for me.
Here is my links for you to test
Link form meda server on winvista
link from medias server on windows2000 server
Appreciate any help from you guys.
Thanks in advance

Jumpy Flash
Hi, could someone tell me why when I click on some buttons the movie goes to the scene for a second and then jumps back to Home.
The actions assigned to each button are simple and the same, "on(release) {goToAndPlay("scene", 1)} and there is a stop action on each first frame of the scene (each of these scenes are only one frame long).
I know it's something simple, but I can't solve the problem.
Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks
Jumpy Scroller
Hi,
I've been using this tutorial to make scrollers
http://www.flashkit.com/tutorials/In...-202/index.php
and it works great with images, but it gets kind of jumpy when using just a big amount of text, it doesn't run smoothly and the draggable ball just skips through the text instead of going through it smoothly bit by bit...
Anybody any clue of what's wrong with it?
thanks!!

Flv Is Jumpy, Even On Broadband
I am using a flash video with cue points to guide a user through ERAEurope.com. Even on broadband, it generally is very jumpy. I have two theories as to why:
(1) The video is long & big and is not progressively downloading properly;
(2) There is too much going on and it's sucking up the CPU power.
For the first theory, I thought that an easy solution would be to chop the video into 3 parts, and as the first part was playing, start preloading the second, then as the second was playing, start preloading the third. However, I cannot get this to work because when I go to load the second and third parts, all I get is sound.
For the second theory, I thought that if I just take out a bunch of the cue points, it would let up on the CPU power...however, it still seems to give me the same problem with just the video, so I decided that must not be it.
Another possible solution could be the compression settings -- I am using Sorenson Squeeze to compress the video. Does anyone have suggestions for settings? Unfortunately, I can't recall exactly what I used -- I know that it would probably help to know, though.
Thanks in advance for any and all help!!
My Animition Is Jumpy

Jumpy AS Resizing...
why is the scaling jumpy? as you rollOver a bar it resizes it's width, but you'll see on the right of it, it wigs out as if it's having trouble computing the last bits of distance/speed to make a smooth transition.
Any ideas as to why and does anyone have any suggestions as to how i might make what i've already done differently? is there ways i might improve upon it with AS?

Jumpy Motion Tweens?
G'Day all,
I've built a component that takes a text parameter that gets put into a text box. The text box is wrapped in a MC and that movie clip is tweened so that it pulses (slowely from big to small), only my pulses are very jumpy. Having never really tweened before what is going on, it's for a client and they will not like the jumps..
Any help would be appreciated!
Jumpy Tweening When There's Text In The MC?
I have a MC that I want to slide into place when my movie loads. It has a bunch of text in it (the description of the site). All of the text was placed in a graphic (as static text), then the graphic was put into the MC, which, in turn, slides onto the screen. The problem is that when the MC slides in, it looks really jumpy.
My .fla is currently running at 30fps, but when I try bumping it up to 120fps, it still looks really jumpy. Everything else runs really smooth, its just that MC with the text that isn't.
Anyone have any ideas that I could try to make it move a little smoother?
By the way, I'm not using tweening to move it, I'm using actionscripting.
Thanks!

Mouse Jumpy/flickering

Jumpy Movie Tweens.
When I am tweening an image or a graphic to move from one side of the movie to the other (i.e. scrolling effect) I can never to get it to move smoothly, it always looks jurcky and jumpy. I have tried extending frames per second etc but nothing seems to work. Can any one help me in gaining a smooth motion tween.

Dynamic Text -- Jumpy
I've made a handful of movies that incorporate a bit of dynamic text. I've tried to integrate it smoothly by fading it in with alpha tweaks, or using a mask, but I've never found a way to manipulate the dynamic text fields and as a result, the text just *jumps* onto the page in a startling way.
Given that the text is on a complicated background and I couldn't just put some kind of box over it (if that's even possible), is there any way I can apply some sort of transition to dynamic text?
Horizontal Scroll A Bit Jumpy
I'm sure this topic has been discussed before somewhere (unfortunately I couldn't find a good thread) but when I do a horizontal scroll the image seems to jump in the middle, almost as if there are two overlapping layers that can't keep up with each other.
I've tried adjusting the frame speed, as well as the number of frames for the scroll, to no avail.
Any ideas?

Jumpy Dynamic Text
I have created a site with 'panes' that scale and slide containing text... the text is dynamically inserted from XML into the multiline textboxs, but when you run the movie and slide between 'panes' the text starts jumping around all over the place... and yes, it is embedded. I NEED to make it stop... I tried setting the textbox to multiline-no-wrap and manually putting in line breaks... no luck... i have also tried auto-kern on and off. Cant it just resize like a vector object!?
Anyone have a solution for this?

Jumpy Movie Clip
The clip is 3046 in width and 49.7 in height and scolls through a 728x90 document in 275 frames. It starts getting jumpy after the first few frames and is drivng me crazy! It is not jumping all over the place, just a bit like a ticker tape, sort of stutters... Any ideas how to code it to run smooth? There is no code in this document right now... (I know, very bad....). So far I have a movie clip (the group scroll) within a movie clip to keep it down to 60K. Thanks!
Jumpy Flv Loop Issues
Hi Eveyone,
Hope you can help me. I've exported a 6 second video loop from After Effects as an flv (Medium - 400kbps) and imported into a flash movie (embedded not streamed). My problem occurs when i try and loop the video. When i run the movie, each time the loop reaches the end there is slight pause as though the video is re-loading. I know the loop works as when i put several copies on the timeline side by side it plays seemlessley, until it reaches the end/loop point and then i get the pause again!
Any advise would be greatly appreciated, thanks
Jumpy Progress Bar During Upload
Here's a screencast of my uploader in progress -
http://www.screencast.com/users/susa...2-fffe7726e8ab
You'll notice that the progress bar jumps all over the place during upload.
Is it trying to show the progress for each individual files rather than all the files at a whole?
I'm not thinking its the latter, because you'll notice its set to put a green check next to a file when a file is done. However the jumpyness of the progress bar and when the checks appear aren't syncing.
Code:
import flash.net.FileReferenceList;
import flash.net.FileReference;
var listener:Object = new Object();
fileList._x = browseButton._x + 20;
fileList._y = browseButton._y + 30;

listener.onSelect = function(fileRefList:FileReferenceList) {
uploadButton.enabled = true;
uploadButton._alpha = 100;
// clear all the old checks if we had just done an upload

}

// concatenate that to our existing list of files
// because array files should hold all the files
var list:Array = fileRefList.fileList;
_global.files = _global.files.concat(list);

Jumpy Motion Tween.
Check out the swf.

Jumpy Text In A Tween?
My quotes in the wide banner seem to jump around and I am curious if there is a way to fix or minimize that? I am in the learning process, so I am trying to absorb as much as I can.
The "We do it right" quote and the phone number seem to wobble.
