Flash :: Linking From A Htm Page

Creating A New Page Within The Same Page (linking)
Does anyone know the correct code to be able to create a new page within a new page ...

here is the script I have now
on (release) {
getURL("http://www.bigtimebanners.com/gallery.htm", "_parent");
}

-> is "_parent" the same thing as "_blank" ?????

I think this opens up a new page but everytime it does it always says "New Page 1 Microsoft Internet Explorer" at the bottom instead of the correct page ...Correct me if I am wrong but people won't be able to bookmark me if it always says New Page 1...

Please click from home to gallery to links and you will notice at the bottom, that the page identification at the bottom never changes.

I am making a flash banner and I would like to link the entire movie to a Web page. Is this done with the HTML coding or in the program?

Linking To An ASP Page
Hullo,
I am new to flash. I want a symbol to be clickable, and open the
following address:

DesktopDefault.aspx?tabindex=0&tabid=1

however when i am using geturl , the link isnt working because seemingly it only links to DesktopDefault.aspx.

How can i create a link to the entire link.

It is a bit urgent, and any help would be very much appreciated.

hey there all.
I have tried many times to create a nice flash website, but i can`t make any transitions between the pages.
For example , i wanted to use the transition effects available in MX 2004, but only the first page (slide) loads ok, showing the transition ...
I want to build it using slide presentation . is it ok ? if not how can i do it ?
I wanna end up with something like templatemonster.

After i go from one slide to another the transitions are gone . it changes directly and the effect i have when first slide is loaded is gone. I see it only one time and not every time

Hope you understand what i mean and tell me what is the best solution for this .
I have used reveal and hide for the transitions for the slides, and both hide/show slide and go to slide for linking the slides

Linking To Another Page Using A Button
When I add a URL to a button, and I post it using front page, when I click on the button, it tries to open the URL twice.
EXAMPLE: http://www.vidanueva.cc/www.vidanueva.cc/new_life.htm.
Please help, this is driving me crazy.

Linking To Blank Page
I am trying to put an link in my flash animation that will bring up a link in a blank page, I had no problem doing this in older versions of flash but MX2004 Profession doesnt seem to be as user friendly. Can someone please tell me the code to make a link open in a blank window. And is there anyway to bring back the "wizard" style of actionscripting that pre-MX2004PRO had?

Linking To A 'page' That Isn't On The Timeline
Apologies in advance as I suspect this is a very dumb question!

I'm very new to Flash but reasonably well versed with Dreamweaver and HTML. I'm fumbling about with various tutorials and experimenting with a Flash website just to get to grips with the techniques.

What I have at the moment is a movie where a menu fades in. Each item on the menu is a separate symbol, and I would like to link each item to a corresponding 'page'. I've learnt how to insert script to call one frame from another but the 'pages' I want to call are not currently frames on the timeline because they wouldn't appear unless the menu item is clicked.

I have a feeling I've missed the point somewhere - ?!

Hello, can anyone help me sove this mystery. Please look at my .fla file Use test movie to see layout. Can not get added pages to pull in correct layout.

On page link About Us which is Symbol 15 in library as a link benefits needs to go to page in library called benefitpage but pull in like the other pages.

On page link Services which is Symbol 15 copy 15 in library there are 4 links.
School Portals need to go to portalpage in library.
Core Capabilities needs to go to corepage in library.
Scool Arts needs to go to artspage in library.
Advertise needs to go to advertpage in library.

On page link News which is Symbol 15 copy 7 in library there is a link privacy statement button Read More needs to go to privacypage in library.

How do I do this?
Can anyone solve this mystery? Please help. This is first .fla file I have messed with and it was not a good one to learn flash on but it meets my needs.

How to link from Flash to certain page in pdf document displaying in web browser?
this is not working:

neither: #nameddest=example, #page=2

This works though from html, but only first time. If you surf beck and then go to the same link it doesnt navigate to that page! Any idea very appreciated!

Roll Over Linking To A Different Page
I am trying to create a quiz. One of the pages on a quiz is a bit like a maze. The user has to move their mouse in a certain area. If they move out of the white line area a message appears saying "bad luck". I want to get it so that when the user moves the mouse out of that area they go back to the beginning of the quiz.

I have attached the relevant files. The main flash file is a MX 2004.

What I am trying to do (!) is have a list which is scrollable and searchable as this one is but I want to be able to click on the word and access another page.

I am trying to create a dictionary of words and images. I have included a simple html page (dreamweaver) - how can I have it so that when I click on the word apple this page opens with the image of an apple on? Is it possible?

(Please ignore other words/links on the list - as most of these were on there when I copied the menu file)

I always get a syntax error...what does this mean?

If its not possilbe to link to a html page can anyone show me how to link to the image within flash?

I have 2 questions
1. I had found somewhere that tells the simple way to link my flash button to a page in my site, but I couldn't find it...I need to know how to link my buttons to the appropriate pages. When I did them a while ago, nothing happened suring the preview.

2. When I get all of the buttons linked, how do I go about getting the html of my flash header I edited to use in my sitebuilder?

i have created a nav system which consists of squares. once your rollover the square it expands in to a rectangs displaying where the link is to take the view but on the square i have enterd this:

its showing errors and im sure im doin summit stupid but im novice at AS can anyone provide help?

Linking To 'Home Page'
This is probably a stupid question but one that has baffled me (not hard). I am in the process of learning Flash and have designe a Flash intro which i want to put on my 'index.htm' page. I want the person to go straight to my 'home.htm' page when they click anywhere in the Flash intro. I have tried various ways to link it but with no luck. I am not very good at the moment when it comes to coding, so hopefully somebody will be able to point me in the right direction with a few 'clicks'

Here is my issue. I'm setting up a anexteranl text file with hyper links to different web pages. shouldn't be problem but the links have an ASP script in it. So it won't show the link if I leave in the part of the link that uses the ASP.

Any ideas or work arounds?

Linking To A New Smaller, Confined Page
Not sure if this is for the Newbies group. I have created a basic front page with a single button on it http://www.electrorod.com How do I add an action to the button that will take the viewer to an entirely new and smaller window. I understand how to create a url action link, but to have it open a smaller confined window is beyond my basic knowledge.
for instances http://www.01-la.com 2advanced has started with the main grey page. Then as soon as you click the flashed link, an entirely new and smaller confined window opens up for you to navigate the entire site with. How is this new window creation thingy done?

HTML Linking To A Page With Flash On It
I'm using Flash 5, and I'm wondering if what I'm trying to do is in any way possible.

Let's say you have two HTML pages, index.html and anotherpage.html. On anotherpage.html, there is a flash file with 100 frames. Is it possible to make a link on the index.html page that will take you to the anotherpage.html page AND automatically set your flash file to whatever frame you want it to be on? Normally, when a page is loaded, all of the Flash files on it will automatically go to frame 1. Is there any way to sidestep this?

Linking 2 Movies On One HTML Page

I have a HTML page which contains 2 flash movies.

What I need is to control one from the other, when I click on the second movie I need to stop the sound and jump to another frame in movie 1.

i downloaded a page flip movie (for flash mx) from
actionscript.org (http://www.actionscript.org/showMovie.php?id=459)
and i had a little question...

how would you go about making a link from one page to execute in another (eg. button on left page makes right page do something)

because the movie is based on scripting there is no hope of using instance names because the script jsut takes the movie clip and puts it where it should be...(or so i think)

I realized that i couldnt link a flash swf file in dreamweaver
to the another page in dreamweaver as easily as a normal image can be linked to another page.

Problem Linking A Button To A Page
Hi. I'm working on a web page for a real estate company. I have 5 pages developed in dreamweaver. One of them is for properties. I have flash mx animations in the pages and they work great. I have one button that directs to a certain property in a folder I created to store all properties. That certain page contains a button to go back to the original properties page. Here's the problem... Once I access to the page of the property I can't get the flash button to bring me back to the original properties page in the root folder cause it looks for the page IN the properties folder I created, NOT the root folder. If I delete the flash button and use some dreamweaver text to make a link to the original page, it works. Picture this: You have a folder and 5 pages in it. You make another folder and put 10 pages in it... If you access one of the ten pages, you can't get back to the original 5 page folder... How can I get back to the original page?

Linking From Cdrom To Html Page
Hi there,

I have made a cdrom presentation with flash mx 2004, and i have linked from the exe to an html page. For example i have images on the presentation with "click here for larger view" (the images are huge so stuck them on html pages in a folder on the cdrom). I am using the following actionscript:

}

When i copy the .exe file and neccessary files onto a cdrom and test it, it opens the browser and tries to search for the name of the page or whatever in a search engine!! highly annoying

Anyone know why this is? if you click once it opens the browser and tries to search for it on google, if you click again, then it actually opens the right file.

I am using Flash MX Professional 2004. I have created a flash intro page and want to link it to the home page of my website. I created a button and applied action script. I used:

}

The flash doc and website docs are in the same location. The button works, it just comes up with an error message saying cant find the file (the file IS there).

Any suggestions to fix this problem or why it isn't working.

For all the websites I do, I use flash navigation because I find it a lot easier. I'm trying to link buttons to DW CS3 pages I created. They're HTML pages. I tried coding it and its not working. I've tried a couple different ways and its not working, any help would be amazing and greatly appreciated. Here's waht I've tried:

illustrationBtn.CLICK = function()

}

designBtn.CLICK = function()

getURL("design.html");
}

identityBtn.CLICK = function()
{
getURL("identity.html");
}

I've instantiated all the buttons, and tried using ROLL_OVER instead of CLICK and navigatetoURL instead of getURL. This is frustrating because I feel like I'm missing one little detail. I've also got all the HTML pages in the same folder as my .swf file. Any ideas?
