Linking To .swf So It Loads In A Stand Alone Player?
Is it possible to use a link in html to a .swf movie that loads the movie in the stand alone player instead of embedding it in internet explorer?
I have always embedded my .swf's in html using the object tag, but now I want to provide a link to a .swf that will load it in the stand alone player instead of the default browser. Can someone help me with this?
Thank, UR

Stand Alone Player Help
Hello All:
I am making a stand alone player with MX and would like it to be full screen; however, I do not want the imagery to scale to full screen.
Is there a way to make the stand alone player a full screen mode player, but keep the flash movie at 100% (i.e. floating in the center of the screen)???
Thank you.

Accessing SQL From Within Stand Alone Player
Does anybody know if it is possible to have a stand alone player access a SQL database to monitor activity? I want to be able to have a Flash .exe running in the BG on my machine periodically checking a SQL DB for any new records and to verify that the DB is up and running correctly. I would prefer to do it as a stand alone .exe rather than from within a browser page. Any ideas on how to do this?
Stand-alone Player Problems
Hi,
We have just finished a game for one of our clients but have found that while it runs fine in a web browser, in the stand-alone flash player it seems to freeze momentarilly about once a second.
To see what I mean download the swf and have a go:
SWF:
http://www.freakmachine.co.uk/bean/bean.swf
zipped SWF:
http://www.freakmachine.co.uk/bean/bean.zip
We tried publishing as a projector and the result was the same.
Any ideas whats going on?
Has anyone come accorss this before?
Could it be a plyer version issuse?
Stand Alone Flash Player
I have created a presentation in Flash MX 2004 that I want to distribute on CD. To make the CD more user friendly, I would like to include installers for stand alone Flash players for PC and Mac. I have looked on Macromedia's website, and cannot find what I'm looking for. Can someone direct me to where I might download these? I don't want the player for web browsers. I want a stand alone player if such a beast exists. Thanks in advance!

Stand-alone Flash Player
I have installed Flash Player 9. I can view swf files if I open them in a browser but otherwise I cannot open them with the flash player alone. Is the flash player only for the browser ? If yes, does Adobe has a stand-alone flash player that does not require the browser ?
Stand Alone Player Issue
I had been working on a file for weeks...then all the sudden when I make a stand alone player it won't open the player...flash player opens but no file...I called adobe and they said it was something corrupt in my user profile...(I am on a MAC, OSx) so I created a new user and opened the file there and it opened, made a stand alone and played..then one day later...same thing in the new user....if I make yet another user it works....but I assume tthis is short lived. WHAT is there in the user profile, and this is a brand new clean user...goes wrong and how can I fix the problem without creating a new identity every other day. I threw away the flash preferences...no dice...any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Stand Alone Flash Mp3 Player
Last edited by AMFA : 2003-06-05 at 09:52.
Hey I wrote a standalone MP3 application.
Going to make Version 2 (with drag and drop and playlists, and better controls.)
Basically there is a flash version out there that is doesnt work with my player and im wonder if anyone would like to download it and
1) try it and give feedback
2) If it gives you an error, let me know what version of the flash player you're using
The first version is without the flash OCX, and 400k. The second version has the newest flash ocx installed that should work on all machines, but is 2meg

Full Screen In Stand Alone Player
I am making a CD ROM for a tour company in Mexico. They want the final product to be a full screen stand alone presentation. Unfortunately, I have never had to do this before and have no idea how. Can someone please tell me how to do this? I am using Flash MX to do the actual design. Thanks.
Size Of Flash Stand Alone Player
I need to know, during "run time" (when the movie is played), the size of the Flash player. I am using, to play the movie, ONLY the stand alone player and never inside an HTML page.
The reason I need to know this is that when the movie is played I have some drop down menus that should resize according to the current size of the movie. The current size of the movie will depend on the amount of "zooming ins" the user did.
Thanks.
Framerate In Browser Player And Stand Alone
Hey all,
okay, i'm making a shoot em up arcade style game, and due to bullet velocity i have decided to make the game run at 60fps (to minimize error of hittests performed when a bullet streaks at a target). it runs fine at 60fps on the stand alone flash player, but when i find that when i embed it in an html document, the bloody thing runs at something like 30fps!!! that is not acceptable... do you people know of any anomalies/differences in the 2 players? or better still, know how to solve this framerate problem?
thanks for any information!

Stand Alone Flash Player 9.0.115.0 Problems
Hi, I'm relatively new to using Flash CS3 Pro (version 9). Everything was working fine until the latest Flash Player update to version 9.0.115.0.
The swf files I export from Flash CS3 have the 'old' Flash player icon in my folder and I have to force them to open in the new version of the player. If I don't, they try an open themselves in a previous version of the player projector.
What's worse is that the new stand-alone player seems to randomly quit out of the swf movie/s. (Mac Console says 'bit length overflow', whatever that means?)
I use a Intel-Mac (OS 10.4.11) and use Flash to create stand-alone lecture presentations that run from the computer's HD, not from the internet (as I embed quite large video animations in the swf files).
I never had this problem of the Flash Player quitting until the player update. Does anyone have any suggestions, please?
(I have downloaded the archived Flash Players in case I need to revert to using a previous version, but I'm wondering whether it's anything I'm doing in Flash CS3 that I need to be changing to overcome this problem).
Thanks!

Urgent: Stand Alone Flash Player
Is there a free stand alone flash player available that plays swf independently of internet?
I have made a language course of swfs available for download, but people have said the swf won't open on their computer. I assume that I can play them because I have the flash designer software.
Any help gratefully received.

Installing Flash Mx Stand Alone Player For Windows

Saving .txt File To Folder Stand Alone Player HELP
Hi,
I have looked everywhere for this and have still not found something that works. I think I am missing something.
I want to create an interface for the stand alone player in which I
can load an external txt file update the variables in the txt file then save the updated txt file back to the local folder.
It seems I use the loadVariablesNum()??
Given:
1: the external txt file is named "test.txt".
2: the variable is named "heading".
3: my main movie has a dynamic text field named "textBox".
Questions:
1. Does the text file already have to exist with the variables,
or does the first call to loadVariablesNum(whatever the args are);
create the file.
2. Once the variables are loaded can I then do something like
textBox.text=heading;
3. What is the correct call to loadVariablesNum() to load the .txt
file if the file is in the same folder as the movie.exe
4. What is the correct call to loadVariablesNum() to save the .txt
file to the same folder as the movie.exe
5. Is there a special format for the .txt file ie as when using the
LoadVars Object ie (heading=My Heading&theBody=Some body of text).
Thanks in advance ... any input needed!!!!

Losing Flash Stand Alone Player Focus
Im doing a CD with a custom courser (hides the mouse pointer and has a movieclip that follows the pointer). I also have a button that prints a movieclip. when the print dialogue box pops up the flash player looses focus and movieclip pointer freezes at the last spot the mouse was on when the player had focus.
Is there a way to determine if the flash player losses focus so i can hide the movieclip cursor until the player regains focus?
Thanks
Stand Alone QuickTime Player From Flash Button
Hello everyone. This is my first post but i have been using your truly awesome web resource a while now. Sorry to trouble you on New Years day, but my hangover waits for no project.
The reason for my posing is that i have come up against what should hopefully be a simple issue (for you guys) but what has had me pulling my hair out all this morning.
I would like to be able to open the Stand Alone QuickTime player from Flash, without it opening the QT file in the browser as per the getFile URL action. Could you guys tell me if this is this possible? If so, how could i achieve it using Flash 8.
I have tried the many methods but still no luck, all wisdom welcome.
Happy 2007, keep up the great work.
Regards, Stantz.
CONTROLLING WINDOW LOCATION In Stand Alone Player.
I'm hoping this is a stupid ? with an easy answer. When I package a windows standalone projector (1024x700) that does not use fullscreen mode, at execution the window is positioned half on/ half off the (1024X768) screen . Is there an FScommand or similar for controlling window loaction in the stand alone player?
Thanks for any insights you can provide.

Loading Percentage Doesn't Display In Stand Alone Player
Hi,
I have a loading sequence that supposes to load an external .swf to a main. swf file and display the loaded percentage on screen. It works properly when the main.swf file is embedded in a web page and view through a browser. However, when I save it as a .exe file and run it from a CDrom (which is what I develop the presentation for), the loaded percentage doesn't display, it just freezes at the original stage but the external.swf file is actually loading, the movie then jump to play the external.swf file once it finished loading.
The external .swf file embedded an avi movie so it's about 50m in size, and it can take upto a minute (ie. screen freeze for a minute) to download(?) from the CDrom before it is viewable from an older PC.
Has anyone experience similar situation before? And know how to solve the problem?
Here is the script (I copy it from Flashkit Tutorial) for the loading sequence:
onClipEvent (enterFrame) {
if (_root.loadingsequence == true && this.percent == null) {
loadMovie("movies/intro01.swf", _root.corner);
_root.corner._alpha = 0;
this.percent = 0;
}
if (_root.loadingsequence == true && _root.corner.getBytesTotal()> 10) {
this.percent = (_root.corner.getBytesLoaded()/_root.corner.getBytesTotal()*100);
_root.loadingtext = Math.floor(this.percent);
_root.loadingbar._width = 250-(this.percent*2.50);
if (this.percent == 100) {
_root.corner._alpha = 100;
_root.loadingsequence = false;
}
}
}
Thanks in advance for any help.
Stand-alone Player: Prevent Starting Multiple Instances
i have a flash movie, distributet as stand-alone player both for mac and pc on cd-rom.
now: is it possible to control the use of the application through a network? not restricting anything, it is possible to share the movie on the cd-rom (or copied to the local hard drive), so that anyone (the administrator allows) can start the player. if i want not allow that, how could i do that? i only see the possibility to prevent that multiple instances of the stand-alone player can be startet. is that possible? are there other solutions?
thanks a lot,

Streaming Sound Plays In Stand Alone Flash Player But Not A Browser
I'm on G5 PowerPC running Safari and flash player 9,0,115,0.
I have a streaming sound that will play in the Flash player but won't play in Safari. I think its because the sound isn't loading, because if I comment and uncomment the code, I'm getting the error at the line with the event listener, even if I comment out all the code in the listener's handler. Can anybody steer me in the right direction?
Thanks,

[F8] XML Only Loads In Flash Player 6
I am using this code to load in some news headlines:
PHP Code:
// The first step is to activate the XML object
headlineXML = new XML();
/*
With the XML Object now active you must now load an XML foramtted document.
Any DTD or XLS formatting will be ignored.
*/
headlineXML.onLoad = myLoad;
headlineXML.load("rssfeed_environment.xml");
// Before proceeding to far into the program, make sure the XML document has loaded
// Extract information from the XML file
function myLoad(ok) {
if (ok == true) {
Publish(this.firstChild.firstChild);
}
}
function Publish(HeadlineXMLNode) {
if (HeadlineXMLNode.nodeName.toUpperCase() == "CHANNEL") {
content = "";
item = HeadlineXMLNode.firstChild;
while (item != null) {
if (item.nodeName.toUpperCase() == "ITEM") {
title = "";
description = "";
link = "";
element = item.firstChild;
while (element != null) {
if (element.nodeName.toUpperCase() == "TITLE") {
title = element.firstChild.nodeValue;
}
if (element.nodeName.toUpperCase() == "DESCRIPTION") {
description = element.firstChild.nodeValue;
}
if (element.nodeName.toUpperCase() == "LINK") {
link = element.firstChild.nodeValue;
}
element = element.nextSibling;
}
content += "<a href='"+link+"'>"+title+"</a><br><br>";
txt2.htmltext=content;
}
item = item.nextSibling;
}
}
}
It has taken me a long time to get any XML working and now this example is working, it only works in Flash Player 6!
Any suggestions (am I using really outdated code)?
Looking For Flash Player That Loads External Flv From PHP
Here's what I need:
SWF Player - with the fla source file
PHP Script tells it what FLV file to load
FLV file is a big archive of files.
So when you go to page:
mysite.com/player.php?id=3
It would grab the listing and location of the FLV file and feed it into the swf player and start playing.
I can probably make this myself but was hoping there was something like this already available?
A Player That Loads Both FLVs And SWFs
I'm been using this code to load a series of FLVs automatically. Does anyone know how to adapt it so that I can also load new SWFs into the main movie?
import mx.video.*;
my_FLVPlybk.contentPath = "mill_tour_export22.flv";
var listenerObject:Object = new Object();
// listen for complete event; play new FLV
listenerObject.complete = function(eventObject:Object):Void {
if (my_FLVPlybk.contentPath == "mill_tour_export22.flv") {
my_FLVPlybk.play("mill_resident_export.flv");
_root.mill1.gotoAndStop(1);
_root.mill2.gotoAndStop(2);
my_FLVPlybk.contentPath = "mill_resident_export.flv"
}
else if(my_FLVPlybk.contentPath == "mill_resident_export.flv") {
my_FLVPlybk.play("habitat_movie2_export3.flv")
}
};
my_FLVPlybk.addEventListener("complete", listenerObject);
Flash Player Loads Too Slow
Hello here is my webpage. http://www.hiphopnext.com/index2.html. If you go to it you can see thatmy flash player on the top right of the page loads way too slow. I have an mp3 that plays in it that is about 3 minutes long. How can i make it load really fast?
Music Player Loads Sound On Trackselection
I've made this little musicbar that should load an swf file when a track is selected. It also contains a little display box that displays when the swf containing the sound will be loaded.
The code behind each track would be the same so here's what I've got so far :
Code:
on (release) {
displaymovie.textdisplay.Text = "*** Loading track ***";
loadMovie("http://www.sin.khk.be/~peterm/MagieWeb/music/track1.swf", "movieClip");
}
GotoAndPlay('start');
This way, as I was told, a movieclip will be loaded into the scene named 'movieclipname.music' because the movieclip in the swf file I'm trying to load (containing the music )is identified by 'music'.
Now here's the problem, I want to do a loop to check if the swf file containing the sound is loaded. I've done the following :Created a keyframe called 'start' on frame 5Created a keyframe called 'stop' on frame 15When the trackselection button is clicked I put the following code (as above code) : GotoAndPlay('start');Problem :
What is the code to check if the movie has been loaded ? Something like : If(IsLoaded("track1.swf")){...} ?!
When it has been loaded how do I control the sound ? (Play, Pause, Stop, Go To Begin of song, Go To End of song)
What i've allready got : http://www.avaweb.be => check the top musicbar.
Detect If SWF Loads In Standalone Or Browser Player
is there any way, using ActionScript, to determine whether a SWF is loaded inside the standalone player or the browser player?
I thought of checking the _url property for file:// prototcol but this can be the case for local viewing from web browser player too.
Flash Video Player That Loads .flv Files
I couldn't find any threads about this specific topic so here it goes. I would like to know if someone could point me in the direction of a tutorial or similar, that explains how to create an online flash video player that can load specific .flv files based on a custom parameter that I will include, containing the name of the file to play.
Thanks in advance!
How Come My Music Player Won't Stream...it Waits Till It Loads?
I'm begging for anybody to figure out why my mp3's don't stream. Instead, you have to wait for the whole song to load before it plays. I am using an XML file...you can view what I'm talking about at www.trippblake.com/index2

Flash Player Loads Files In Memory And Fills It Up...
Im working on a interactive cd and I have a projector which leads to a mainstage where I have a section with videos. All of this will be on a cd. The problem is that after I view two or three videos, the next one stalls, starts to stutter or doesnt run. I believe its because the other movies which were loaded using loadmovie function are not unloading correctly even though to get them off the screen I placed a unloadmovie function on a button and it apparently closes them. Any suggestions??
