Flash :: Looking Actionscript Training

[CS3] ActionScript 3 Training
I've been using ActionScript 2 for a few years and now I want to start learning ActionScript 3. My boss is willing to send me to a class for this but I want to know which ones out there are worth the money. All of the ones I've look at seem to have the same course outline and they all seem to start at the beginning as if I knew nothing about ActionScript. Do you guys have any suggestions of some quality ActionScript 3 classes? Location is not a problem as long as it's in the United States.

My employer has asked me to look for some extended training in Actionscript 2.0. I consider myself to be intermediate/somewhat advanced in scripting, and want training that will build on that rather than starting with the basics in some beginning Flash class. I hope it's not against any forum rules to solicit some opinions and/or recommendations. I will explore online or classroom offerings so that I can submit a proposal to my boss. I'm looking to get some training for Actionscript 3 in the near future...

I'd be interested in online courses, or in class training... being as I'm in the NYC area, I can't imagine it's too hard to find, but, I'm coming up empty.

Actionscript Training Question
I have been using flash a little here and there since V.4 now at MX.
I just purchased a book (Macromedia flash mx actionscripting advanced)
It has been great but I want to learn more. Can anyone suggest any books or videos? I learn better by doing than just reading, more of a visual person.

I'm interested in signing up for some week-long training classes for Flash/Actionscript. Can anyone recommend a training program that is worth taking? I know enough flash to be dangerous, but I really need to become efficient in actionscript so I can get things done quicker.

Australian Actionscript Training
This is a message for any Australian flash developers who are trying to come to grips with using actionscript to create animation and other interactivity.

I got a sneak peak at a actionscript seminar being offered by David Harradine training last week and found it to be a really worthwhile resource. Usually Im hugely sceptical about training seminars as I prefer to buy books and utilise this and other forums, but with this seminar I was pleasantly surprised.

Firstly I should state that I have no relationship to David Harradine training and that I got to see it purely by luck, through a friend of a friend.

The seminar is aimed at people who are just starting to explore actionscript but rapidly gets you up to speed so that you can tackle more complex scenarios. I decided to post about it, because I found that when I first started learning actionscript, that I could really have used something as the glue between the forums and my actionscript books and this would have been it for me.

As a visual person there was many times that I just could not grasp a scripting concept and needed a face to face explanation. This is exactly what this seminar has the potential to deliver for people in the same situation as I was. While I found the graphics used in the seminar to be pretty basic, I didn't mind because what they were teaching could easily have much slicker graphics applied to it.

Anyway I know that they are running the seminars in most Australian major cities and details can be found at their website http://www.whack.com.au

Online Training, Tutorials And Books... For MX And Actionscript
Can anyone advise the best online tutorials (preferably laid out in some sort of order) and maybe even online training/schooling for flash?

Also, are there any really great Flash MX books that cover MX & Actionscript in some detail? I have "Flash 5 Creative Web Animation" and it was fairly helpful, but I think some of the time the actionscript explanations are a little vague and the application of it never gets to a really high level.

Macromedia Flash MX 2004 Actionscript: Training From The Source
I think it's about time that I started ugrading my knowledge of Actionscript to include Actionscript 2.0.

I've come across this book by Derek Franklin and Jobe Makar, and I was wondering if anyone can tell me whether the book will upgrade my knowledge to ActionScript 2.0 or not.

I managed to get their previous book (for Flash MX) out of the library, and was pretty impressed with it, but I was curious as to whether anyone can tell me if this follows in a similar vein.

Which CD-Rom Training Should I Get?

A total newbie here, in fact, not even a newbie! Want to get training on Flash 5 on a limited budget. Found the training CD's range from $112 (Apex, 6.5 hrs) to $$419 (Edulearn, 8 hours). The contents are very similiar - has anyone had any experience with these or the training videos? Any suggestions/opinions welcome!

I am new to the flash world but want to design a website in flash. I want to have a website that user can sign in with a password and username. Is there any where I can learn to do that? Please help...

Training/Tutorials
I have thought about creating interactive tutorials/training for the company I work for. Basically, one thing would be to have a scenario that the user reads, then they give their response of how they would handle the scenario and then move on to the next scenario. Is it possible to use Flash for this purpose? Not necessarily online or over the network, just have it loaded on one computer and have their answers saved to maybe a text file or something? It would not need to be LMS compliant. I just want to save the answers to something that would make it possible for the administrator to go back and check what the user had answered and to print out to keep on file.

Second thought was to develop learning applications for the children we work with. Math, spelling, geography, etc... Could this be done in Flash. Basically, have a stand alone application that can be distributed via CD if necessary. Probably have a save feature to save where ever they are in the tutorial. Basic learning.

Be honest. Am I jumping into 90 foot waves here? Should I be thinking smaller? Should I even attempt these kind of projects? Is Flash the way to go or should I look into other programs?

The company I work for wants to send me to beginner and intermediate Flash Mx courses. Any place nation wide would do but preferably central or east coast. As of now price is not an issue as long as they are known as one of the best training facilities.

Flash MX Training
My boss has purchased Flash MX for me to learn and has offered to pay for some training to get things going.

I think I can pick up Flash fairly quick, but I would like to take advantage of the training classes too.

What's everyone's view on the Flash certification track, 3rd party classes, and anything else that relates? Is the training worth the money? Should I just go through Flash and Flash Kit tutorials?

Training Applications
I would like to see if anyone had any examples of an intranet training program done in flash. Ultimatley, I will be creating a CD-ROM to be used as a training guide for employees to use their companies intranet. Included in the CD-ROM will be MC's of the mouse cursor pointing and clicking over different areas of the site as well as a voice over.

Im just curious to see if anyone has done something similar so I can get an idea of what different sections would like and the overall function. Thanks alot for the help guys!

Has anyone got any recommendations for training in flash - both from an animation standpoint and also an ActionScript standpoint.
I have found lots of 2 day courses - but would really like to find some 2-3 week or even 3 months intensive training, something over a longer period of time - and before you say it no I dont want to go back to college for three years - just want something that gives a little more time and focus

Alternativley does anyone know of any good companies that take on work experince candidates through Goverment funded projects in the Uk

I'm in a bit of a tough spot. My company wants to send me to school for a week-long crash course in Flash with an emphasis on ActionScripting. The problem is, the company computer I use has Flash MX 2004, and the only classes I see available at different Adobe-certified training sites are for Flash 8, which is no longer for sale since CS3 came out.

How can I get training for Flash CS3 in the San Francisco Bay Area??

I want to create a few tutorials movies for a website user profile "How
to's", I had a look at camtasia but it appears when the moive is created and
you uploaded it to screencast.com that you always have to link to a page on
there website to view it, and it is not possible to link to the movie direct
and show it on one of my own webpages.

CAn any one tel me of a good toold that will allow me create a screen
capture movie, and then some where I can upload it and have it streamed..

I have basic knowledge in Dreamweaver but none at all in Flash. I'd like to learn how to use both Flash and Action Script to b build websites. Can anybody tell me if its worth spending the $1500 on going to an adobe authorized training center or $200 on the two training dvds (Flash essentials and Action script essentials) Adobe sell? I called Adobe to ask exactly what the dvds covered and they couldn't tell me unless I bought them. So, I'm just wondering what those dvds cover? Are they helpful? Is it basically the same as a location training would cover?

Although I am familiar with Flash (but a true novice), I need to become proficient in create e-learning content. The instruction could be online live training or live on-site. Flash Training For CD
Hi I'm new and have a question.

Quick back story: I was trained as a graphic designer originally, and originally hired as one at the company I work for. I am the only designer and have taken on other duties (haha, I said duty!). I have now been trained in Final Cut Pro Studio and picked that up pretty quickly, so I now do the video, audio, and DVD production for my company.

We are now thinking about getting me more training in multimedia software. I have Macromedia Studio 8. The project I'm supposed to getting training for is this:

A simple interactive CD that would have all of our product literature on it in a format that people can view and print from. It would also be nice if it opened by itself like a DVD when you pop it in. We currently just give people a burnt CD with PDFs of our literature, but if we want to be a $100 million dollar company, we should look like one!

What training would I have to get to learn how to do this? What software would be used? Is this possible (haha, anything is possible for the rihgt amount of money, huh?) This company is willing to send me to whatever training I need for this. I'm quite excited, but need more info!
