im still learning basics but i dont know how to make an interface...like i can make the buttons and stuff for the website...but how do i make the interface stay on the screen the entire time...i push play movie and the interface i made goes away like it would go through scenes of a movie. i'm confused and cant find it in my book...help me out.

i am try to make a website using flash, but i don't know where to start off, first, i have the basic of building a website using frontpage, and also i got some basic knowledge of making animations and animated buttons, now i want to try out to make a site using some bits of animations. Not sure if this question has been answered earlier...i have been using flash for a while....never made a website though.....am currently working on a website...need 2 know what page size/canvas size i should choose. I was told it is 1024x768. But ive heard people saying that we should reduce some pixels in order to fit the status bar and other elements. So what is the size i need 2 choose?? Any answer is appreciated.

Ok i read Kirupa's tutorial on how to make a website. I completed it and it was pretty simple. I am new like i said and have this problem. I dunt kno how he made layers inside the navigation bar. Like when u click on layer text it boxes all the text and when u click background it boxes the background and when u click border it boxes the border please help me I think Flash is a great way to learn more stuff. Hello everyone. I have been reading these forums for a while and i can not understand how to do something in flash. I dont know how to create a website(with certain preferances). I have been reading and practising how to load movies and things like that but i cannot link everything together. Here is how i want to make it, i would like some suggestions of how to approach this....and what order to go about in making a flash website. (I have seen the website tutorial on Kirupa main page but it is not what i am looking for)

-the website starts with a page saying "enter"
-after clicking "enter" a pop up flash window appears and the site begins to preload
-after the preloader is done maybe 2 or 3 movies load up. (a navigator...and some sort of image on the side...maybe another MC) (i dont know how to link 2 or 3 different movies into one big/er one)
-When a button is clicked...a preloader appears replacing the original image and it goes away as another MC loads and appears, along with info/text on what was requested

I dont know whether this is achieved by using symbols for each MC or do i just make a MC without any symbols. I also have a limited knowledge of actionscript so i dont want to use a lot of that. I am not asking for someone to make me a site or something like that. Just some suggestions on how i would go about on making a website with those preferences.

Making A Website, Have A Question
I'm making a website where the client needs to be able to update pictures all the time. The way I have it so they can do that is Flash looks for pictures named certain names in the parent directory, and then loads them accordingly. My question is will that screw up the bandwidth for the site? And if so, how would I be able to make it work better, like load the cookies or something.

Hello, I have dilema.

I'm making a website in flash with my limited knowledge.

The problem I have is content. I need it to be easily editable (i.e. through text files) so I looked at a tutorial and I made it so it loads external text files into a dynamic text box.

The problem is that it doesn't load the text file until the flash document navigates to that page. Is there anyway of bringing the text files into the initial load of the movie? Is there a better way of doing this which will enable editing through a text file and loading of external text file with at least a preloader on that frame?

I'm looking to make my band a website using flash. Nothing fancy. Just a tastefull minimalist flash site. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of a tutorial which would show me how (I'm a newB bay the way). The thing that confuses me is what order to put things in and how I would use the timeline effectively. I can make buttons and assign them actions but I would be unsure of how to store different pages. Would these just be different layers which would become visible once the button for it was clicked? Any help is appreciated.

Making A Website Using Flash
First of all, I am almost 100% new to all of this. I bought Flash MX Professional 2004 AND Dreamweaver MX 2004 becuase making websites is my favorite thing. But basic HTML can only go so far.

The Idea I have fashioned in my head here is the actual interactive part of the website is in the dead center of the screen, and is surrounded by frames. If thise doesnt make sense, I have found a website that is veryclose to how I want mine to look:

hi people,

i've looked around and stuff, for helping to design a simple website. there are alot of tutorials on the aspects of making a website, like little compenents and such.

here's my concern, currently, i maintain a website for our university cultural club at www.macmpa.com , and it is in done in photoshop.

i've redesigned it in photoshop and have started importing each layer into flash, so each layer can be manipulated in flash.

i've used Swift 3D to make a 3D logo, that will just spin and its imported into the library, but i dont want to just import it to the stage, i want to be able to call the swift file from the library

im new to flash and actionscript, but i am using tutorials to get things together and am quite quick at learning

so if anyone can help with this simple process, thanks a lot

also, are there any simple tutorials in creating a website? i want to be able to have the site have an intro, and then it loads into the main page and then the links on the page will just change the one little section of the website

I have a website all done in html that I want to turn into Flash. I have Macromedia Flash 8 and have no idea where to start. I have all the graphics and everything made, I just need to 'activate' them I guess. Any suggestions on where to start and how to get started? Best Size When Making Website?

I am working on my first flash based website. now I have a window for animation in the center, which i currently set to being 750 times 450, and then a frame aroudn it for buttons at 1000 times 750.

my screens resolution is at 1360 times 1024 however, and it's looking good for me.. how will it look for someone with another resolution? is there a way to make the website relative- so that its the appropriate size per resolution?

Okay, so I have a main swf, and I want another swf to load in a certain area of the site, but when you click one button, I want an animation to be able to play. So, to see what I have done, go to: http://www.axeldesigns.com/h2/helpdatabase (then click 'menu button'). I would consider myself beginner to intermediate in Flash, I've made one game and several animations, and just recently took up the task of making a flash website for some of my friends (and not for money). There is a lot of information I have to get through right now, I think I'm understanding it all, but I do have some questions. Firstly, I think the intro to my site would be the regular "This site requires Flash Player 9" etc. Now, if I'm using Flash 8, would you just say you need the 'latest' Flash Player? How do you detect the version of their flash player? And also, I'd like this screen to disappear after the first time people go to the site, I think I know how to do this with storing info on the persons computer (I remember something about Flash cookies and external data). Second question is, how do people deal with different resolutions? I'm guessing that unless your site is all vectors (which mine isn't), you have to do it in a special way, but I can't seem to figure out how, I want it to work for everyone!

Some Questions About Making A Website In Flash
I want to make a flash website, 1 main movie type of thing and when you click the navigation buttons the main movie then preloads and changes. The questions are:

1. How do I make buttons change the main movie?
2. I have seen stuff said about different 'movies' in the same file, what is this about? How do I make the multiple movies? How does it work? Would I have like Movie 1 Home that loads when you click home button then Movie 2 Links when links button is clicked?
3. What happens if the viewer doesnt have flash player?
4. What is the recommended filesize that will allow even dialup users to se website fairly fast?
5. When I import a jpeg into the flash movie is it converted into a bitmap making the file size very high?
6. Is there any way of putting the movie at the centre of the browser window regardless of the viewers screen res?

Hey there users whats up. I got a question. Ok Im making a practice website in flash, I setted up the bio swf, links swf, home swf and profile swf and main swf. So the main.swf is the main page, I've setted up the navigation links in the main.swf. Is it possible to control the timeframe in the bio.swf so for example I click on profile then in the bio.swf it goes to the 5th frame for example then it goes to the profile swf. And how can I send variables from one swf file to another.

I am trying to make templates like those found in monster template I could find free tutorials from CG tutorials site..I want to make a page that popup from nowhere and after that its contents should come from a side.I did popping up from nowhere by converting it to 3 movieclips and the inside the first movie clip i extended it to 30 frames and by making alpha to zero and scaling and after that writing actionscript to buttons i made the page like poping up from nowhere but now i want the contents to come from sides..I even tried duplicating movieclips but contents are coming along with the popping up page How can i make the contents come from sides when the page has come to a still.Can you please help me..

Making A Website In Flash And I'm Kinda Stuck
Ok, here it goes

I've just started playing around in flash to make myself a new website. I want to make an online diary kind of thing. My aim is to have calendars which you click and then they come up with a diary in a designated text area. I've made the calendars and animated them a little - one for each month - and i've made a text area with a scrolling bar and everything but now I'm stuck. I don't know if this is possible, but I want to make it so that when you click on a date the text in the text area changes, as if you had designed a website using frames and the link to the text opens up in a designated frame.

I could probably do this using different scenes, but seeing I already have about 15 scenes a new scene for each date would make hundreds of scenes and that would be much to difficult to manage.

If you go to www.bicrunga.net there's a calendar thing there which is very similar to what I want to do.

Sorry if this is a confusing or stupid question, but I'm lost so I thought this was the best way to try and get help.

Making A Website In Flash - Newby Prob
Hi all, ive started creating a website for the first time but i have very little experience with flash. im having problems figuring out how to open a animated box after clicking a button ive created.

For example. Ive created a button called " directions" .. which when i roll over it works as a button should and the pointer changes to a hand. But how do i get it to actually open another box that contains the info i want to include.Ive tried adding behaviours to the button like gotoandplay on on press, but no luck!.
I'm guessing theres some actionscript that needs to be applied but ive no idea how or where...

If anyone could help me or point me towards any basic tutorials i would be deeply appreciated.

Making A Website To Help With Choosing The Colour Of A Bike - Please Help Me :D
Hello I am trying to make a website where you can take conponents of a bike and change their colour

there are about 17 conponents that I want to be able to change the colour of e.g. frame colour and seat colour.
and I want to have 10 - 20 colours

the number of combinations would be huge, so to have that many pictures, with a link to each is probs not the best solution by far.

I was planning on having a more interaction site, where when a colour or conponent is selected, it changes in front of you - any ideas how I could do this?

prehaps a simple solution would be to have a range of buttons, that when selected display a different coloured conponent - how do I make a button that when pressed reveals say a coloured box and doesnt dissapear when the mouse is moved away from the button - is this the hit feature? if so how do I make it work!?

I Am Making A Totally Flash Based Website, And Need A Bit Of Help.
Basically, what i want to happen it when you go to a different page in the website, i want the page contents to fade out(apart from the menu bar), and then the new content to fade in.The only problem is i dont know how to get a button to say " on release, play up to frame 15 of this scene (the content fading animation), then go to scene x)

Could anyone help me with this?

Pros/Cons Of Making A Website In Flash?
Hi,

I am a graphic designer working primarily in print and am now making my first steps in web design. (actually my second, as I have made a very basic flash site many years ago)

I am a bit uncertan as to how to approach web design as there are seemingly endless ways to build websites. Anything from wrting HTML, to using Dreamweaver, Go Live, exporting web pages from In Design or Quark, or Fireworks, Photoshop and of course, Flash.

For the beginner the choices are a bit overwhelming.

I would be really appreciate if someone could please outline some of the major advantages and disadvantages of designing a site in Flash.

If possible, those of you who have worked using various techniques, could you please draw some comparisons with some of the methods I have outlined before.

Also, I might add that the website I am faced with building initially will require updates to text and images on a quarterly basis. Are sites in Flash particularly difficult to update when compared to some of the other methods?"
