Masks And Opacity
greetings,
I'm doing an intro that has about 90 little bitmaps moving into a grid in the center... I want them to "appear" in a kind of sequence, so I've got them in sets of 10, linked to mask layers that do a transition, a fade out...
this is working great for the first set, but for the second set, I haven't been able to get it to go. as a mask layer, it's not letting me get to Timeline Effects>Transform/Transition. it's also 'linked' to the layers below it, while the first mask isn't.
the other part is that I want the transition to begin later than frame 1, and it doesn't seem to want to do that...
alternatively, I tried to do a Script to change the alpha, but couldn't get it to work right.

Masks With Opacity?
Hi,
I'm trying to create an effect like the one on this site:
www.fabrislane.com (image being revealed by mouse movement)
I'm guessing it's using movieclip duplication, activated by mouse movement and have started a basic version of it.
However, it seems that the multiple masks have some sort of opacity - when they overlay, the masked image becomes stronger.
Anyone know if this is possible? (Or have any idea how this effect was achieved?)

¿How To Enlarge Masks On Rollover While Shrinking Other Nearby Masks?
Hi,
I'm trying to figure out how to acheive a similar effect to the main 4 buttons, at this site, http://www.nationalgeographic.com/forcesofnature/
There is a grid of 4 rectangles, each quadrant is a mask/button. When you rollover one quadrant, the mask/button enlarges, and the other 3 mask/buttons shrink. This all happens inside of the fixed-size grid.
Can anybody lead me in the direction of a tutorial or let me know the name of the technique so I can search out help resources on my own?

i've imported .mov files, and will be importing other types of files into my .fla document - and i want to layer them. is there any way that i can change the opacity of the layers themselves, so that i can 'see through' each of the different animations that are going on?

Opacity?
Hi, I hope I'm posting this in the right spot. I'm new here, and pretty new to flash too. Anyway, I've got MX and I'm working on a Flash cartoon...for my background I have a forest scene and what I'd like to do is have streaming light through the trees and animate the opacity so it looks like the light is shimmering. But I can't seem to find any opacity command. Can someone help me achieve this effect?

I am trying to redesign the buttons on my homepage. I have them done in Shockwave, but I want to do them in Flash, as it's more internet friendly, of course. Is it possible to adjust layer opacity in flash, and if so how.. Opacity On Buttons
Hi,
I want to make a menu with thumbnails that have a white layer above them with 50% opacity, then when moused over they go down to 0% so you can see the thumbnail. I figured this would be as easy as making a button and then putting a white square with different opacity in each box (over, hit, etc.). This isn't the case though. When I tried to do it that way I realized that I would need to convert the white squares to symbols and when I do that it makes my thumbnail button that is under the white square not clickable. Does anyone know of a way to do this? If I can't find another way I will just make the thumbnails and then put a different one in each of the boxes, but I would like to find a better way because that would increase the loading time.

Menu Opacity

Greetings!
I have two different images which I want to put together and make two different buttons of in CS3.
But the problem is that the transparent areas of the images also counts as a part of the Image. Are there a way to only make the painted areas a button?

[f8] Opacity Tween With Actionscript
HI All,
Am trying to make a mc, which begins as semi-transparent(35), switch immediately to 100 alpha onRollOver(which i'm not having trouble with) but then fade/tween back to 35 alpha onRollOut. I'm trying to do this also with actionscript.
I have so far tried using mc_tween.as which works ok the first time you RollOver & RollOut but the next time the fade starts to flash uncontrollably. Code as follows:

[F8] Dynamic Line Opacity
I have made this "application" in flash.
Make the pen size quite thick and set the line opacity to low and draw with the pen tool.
As you can see, it does not draw completely opaque, there are dots of solid (or more solid) colour in the line. Here is the method I used to draw:

I have also tried drawing at 100% opacity and then changing the opacity of the "mc" movieclip and the same thing happens. Is there any way to stop it doing this and make the whole line the same transparency?

Function To Set Opacity Of MC Not Working?
I have defined a function to set the opacity of a series of MC's to "0":

I've tried redefineing the path to the MC's by using "_level0" & "this" as well; it doesn't correct the problem. I'm sure it's how I've defined the for loop but can't figure out what's causing the trouble.
(using FLASH pro 2004, publishing as Flash Player 7 w/ AS2.0)
I'm not too sure what I'm doing wrong.

Opacity In Linked Images?
Images (inside movie clips) will not show opacity settings (or other color settings) when they are linked and loaded through the loader component. When I replace it with a embedded image it shows the adjusted opacity correctly. Is this my fault or a flash deficiency?
