Flash :: Menu From Macromedia

New Macromedia.com Menu
Hi, I´m new to this board and I would like do do some questions regarding the new(?) macromedia.com menu.
On the main site, there´s a menu that uses some property that sets a time interval before it changes it´s instance. Therfore, whenever you scroll the mouse over the menu options, the menu sets up a interval before it actually shows the submenu of the current selected option. What I want to know is: How do I set this time interval on a menu????

Oh, and sorry if my typing looks a little confusing, but my english is awful...

hello, everyone. it's my first time here, and i'd first like to say that i think i'll be happy here... most posts get answers almost immediately!

I just got my copy of Flash MX and i'm totally new to this.
I did learn a little from the help files, and there's something i wold like to pursue...

Anyway, my problem is that i would like to create a menu like that of macromedia.com's... it's pretty neat.. having a main menu, then when hovered on, a submenu appears under it.

How can i accomplish this? I hope someon can help me.

Again, I'm really new to this, and i would appreciate a little ease on the technicality of your terms.

Hi, Does anyone have any source that fairly closley replicates the main menu on the macromedia site.

It is quite a common type of menu but i always seem to have trouble when it comes to building it!

If anybody has anything or could give me some help on hoe to build it, would be much appreciated.

Just wanted some resources or help on how to create a menu like the Macromedia site. None at all on appearance, but I have a list of links right now as buttons, and a bar below.

I'd like sub items to fade in when the relative button is moused over, but fade away if nothing is selected.

I really like the look of the menu bar on www.macromedia.com homepage. Does anyone know of any tutorials that show you how to copy this effect. I would ideally like it to load the menu from an xml file.

Alternativly does anyone know of any free versions on the internet of this menu that i can edit for myself.

I am also fairly new to flash and dont really know where to start with this problem.

Anyone knows how they made this, or know where I can find a tutorial for it?

I've tried the Template that came with MX, (XML Tab Menu) but I can't figure out how to expand and collapse the menu on rollOver & rollOut...

How do you change the Macromedia Menu (you know when you have you .swf file in a web document, and right click on the .swf file and there is a menu..... e.g. About Macromedia Flash Player >Your Version<), and you can customise it for your own enjoyment....

hey guys, have you seen the menu of macromedia.com, can somebody help me on the actionscripts of this menu. like when you mouse over it, it will show the other menus on the bottom and when you mouseover it, it will go after a few seconds.

iF you see the site MACROMEDIA.COM yoy'll see the main menu, in ROLL OVER starts the menu button "flashing" and shows de sub.menu. After a few seconds, onROLLout the "button" turns off the light. onRollOut, the button type "LED" turns off the light after seconds automaticly. how is that Posible? how can we do it?
Note: that's happens almost always, but sometimesthe "led-button" doesn't works that's all Ultrashocker...

Does anyone know how the "macromedia tree menu" avaliable from the flash exchange can't be edited, so that when you click on a new menu item it closes the submenu that is open, ie: so that there is only one submenu open at any time??

Does anyone knows how to do a menu like their? I'm making a webpage and i would like to have a menu like that: on mouse over --> the submenu links show up. On roll out, the submenu links desapear...

I've already tired to make an animation in a movie clip, and put it inside the "Over" option inside the button, but it didn't worked, because if you pass with your mouse in the space where the submenu should appear only when you pass over the button on the menu, it appeared at the same.

Then i tried with load movie. The problem is that with loadmovie i must unload the submenu movie when i have the mouse out of the button on the main menu, and that means everywhere out of the menu, and that's a problem, because the only way i know to do that is to put a movie clip behind the menu, with the AS to unload the submenu swf. The problem is that flash transforms it into a button, and when i generate the swf, the mouse is allways a hand (like in a button).

So, my question is: How can i make a menu effect like in the one on www.macromedia.com ?????

P.S. - Sorry if i explain my ideias in a too complicated way, but it's the best i can do...

How To Create The Macromedia Menu

Does anyone know where I can find a tutorial to create the horizontal navigational menu in the macromedia website:

I haven't been able to learn how to make a menu so that the menu items appear horizontally below the first layer.

Are there any components or smart clips that do the same thing?

Simple Pop Under Menu - Macromedia.com
I have been trying for 3 weeks to hash out a drop under menu similar to the one found at the top of http://www.macromedia.com.

I have experimented with button states, rollover triggers to reset the movie, etc... and i am about to give up. Can anyone suggest a simple theory that would get me past this bump?

I am trying to give my site a facelift and would like it to be at least 80% Flash. Would I would like to accomplish is a nav system identical to the one that is displayed on Macromedia's home page. Can anyone give me some pointers or examples by which to follow? I'm a fast learner and am ecstatic about the Flash application, I'm just not that much of an expert yet and could use a little coaching. Please respond ASAP.

Macromedia Style Menu Buttons
I saw a cool menu posted on flashkit, it was a menu bar with buttons, the same style as the Macromedia site.
I thought i'd be able to reproduce something similar by downloading that flash file and having a look at how it was constructed. I managed to produce my first button np, but the second button doesn't work. Im sure iv missed something simple but i can't see what...Can somebody help?

I am brand new to this forum and also to flash. I've spent hours reading and downloading information from the internet about Flash. I am wanting to create a horizontal menu bar like the one on Macromedia's website www.macromedia.com I like the menu's that are xml driven and easy to customize. Not sure how this one was done.

Can anyone give me any information on how to create this, or possibly point me to a .fla file that I can break down and learn the code.

Macromedia Homepage Menu Implementation?
Hi, for the past week or so i have been looking for a tutorial on how to create that same functionality as the menu which resides at the top of the macromedia homepage. it looks like they used the menubar component and managed to override the current functionality to show the list of links in a horizontal fashion below the menu instead of a drop down menu. I can think if ways of doing this without using the menu bar component but for a more robust solution i would like to implement it using the menubar component. Has anybody out there seen how macromedia done this? your help would be greatly appreciated

Hi people,

I am trying to make my website using Flash MX. I dont seem to be able to get my menu like the macromedia website one.
Mouse goes over, it highlightes, after 1 sec the color changes and there is a second menu beneath it. And the button of the 1st menu keeps being higlighted when going to the other ones.

How can I do this?

IF iy would b possible would like to make it very easy to update, like not having to recreate the mouseover effects when i add a button. And is it possible to make buttons with actionschript and have them put in an array? Like that way u can add menubuttons with external files and such.

can anyone tell me how to use the macromedia flashmx drop down menu template?? (xml...) i just can't figure out how to make it work inside the flashfile. No problem linking the menu to other websites - but how to go to a specific frame in the movie?? xml-part is no problem!

Actionscript Macromedia 8 - Stuck On Sliding Menu
I have used the sliding menu instructions from this site http://www.kirupa.com/developer/flash8/slidingMenu.htm

but seem to be messing it up somewhere despite having done it 8 times now. When i unzip the files, it comes with B1-5, Content 1-5, em and em2, holder and maskMovie. I assume they are for me to use.

I think I am doing it all right up until the bit where I cover with a mask over content 1 which is held within the contentHold

Do I use the maskMovie or draw a box in myself?

When I test the movie, ie click on of the coloured buttons down the side, all that happens is the buttons disapear and I am left with a coloured strip down the side ie the colour box that I have just clicked.

does anyone know when the flash player ocx with work with a "post" and not just a "get". im also having problems loading and an xml file from a server with the player. it works fine in the browser, but in the player (ocx) it doesnt.

I'm wondering what should i know to make a menu works like the "short cuts" buttons in the site. When clicked, they open a "scroll field", but the content that was there before doesn't disapear.
To understand what i mean do this: If you click the "products" short cuts and then click the "downloads" short cut, the content of "products" doesn't disapear untill the field with the "download" content scroll over it and shows up...
howcome this is possible? scriptablemasks? actionscripting? I don't know if i made my doubt clear...but i thank any idea replied here.

I'm from Bucharest, Romania and I have one BIG PROBLEM.. As Macromedia is not going to sell it's brand new MX Development Resource Kit in regular stores, just online, and because they don't accept Romanian CCs, I am unable to buy this software !

Macromedia said they will never make this software available in Romania !! :-((

I even tried with a Reiffeisen Bank credit card, online, and they rejected it.

So, please, can anyone be so kind to buy it for me ?

The goal of these seminars is to engage new and existing customers and show them what our technologies can do, not necessarily to provide intensive training - we have other venues dedicated to that.

How Does Macromedia Do It?
If you go to macromedia's home page, they have a flash search textbox at the top right. When you click in it, it fades to a different color and if you click outside of it, it fades back to the original color. I tried tabbing and it didn't work, so it's only when you click on it that it works. I've tried to recreate it in a login textbox I have and I just can't get it. Does anyone know how to do that? I'm looking for a tutorial on how to make a navigation system like that currently used on Macromedia's site.

Any help would be good. All my google searches lead me to Navigation wizards and I want to understand how to assemble the pieces not have something make it for me.
