Hi, I have a pure Flash MX site.. What is the best way to upload it to the server so that when google and the rest of the gang do their crawls it will acutally list my site?

Should I just uplaod the index.html and all the .swf's or should I upload all the .html files and all the .swf's?

And how about meta tags? Only on the index.html page or what?

I know this will sound dumb but what is the way to add meta tags into a flash MX webpage. can I just add in the head tags

Meta Tags
I designed my entire web site in Flash. It came out great but can't be found by search engines. Does anyone know how to use Meta Tags (keywords or descriptions) with Flash or have any other solutions?

I tried inserting it into Dreamweaver and filling in the keywords and descriptions but they disappear after I save the file.

I am html ignorant and new to web design and Flash.

I read everything I could on meta tags but I still can't answer this question.
I added the meta tags on the html file.
Now everytime I do some changes to the movie I have to republish it...so that I create the new html file. Is there anyway to keep the meta tags or do I have to rewrite them each time?

now my question is what do i need to write instead of x to have an encoding of UTF-8?

Any tips on the placement of meta tag information? In fact I am not sure where I do that. I am familiar with the HTML coding but assume there is faster way in Flash. Perhaps there is a tutorial that would be recommended. Any help is appreciated.

We have website with 5 HTML pages. Each HTML pages holds a Flash movie.

I know that Meta Tags are no longer used, but is there any other way to get search engines to "see" the content of our site? (I assume they can't because all the text is in the flash movies)

Like, hidden HTML text "behind" the Flash movie? Anything like that?

[AS3] Meta Tags?
Hi, guys.

I've been searching the Adobe site for ages looking for a list of the meta tags ( Embed for example ) that can be used in AS3 classes ( when compiling with Flex2 / mxmlc )... but I can find squat.

If you embed an image I imagine that there should be an option for the type of compression used ( JPEG / PNG ), so I'm basically after a list of attributes for the meta tags... like source... [Embed(source="")]

Can anyone point me the right direction?

I know this question has been answered before, but I thought, what the hell, let's ask again and see what kind of response there is this month...

Actually, most of the posts I saw are 6-8 months old, some with broken links, and they all seem to contradict each other.

If anyone can tell me what they think is the best way to setup a flash only site for Google, please let me know!

On one site, I added an html splash page, and some html pop-ups with an href link back to the flash home page on each of those, but I have a really anal client who is speaking to other web developers who are all telling her that flash web sites can NOT be set up to be found in google searches!!

I've put a Flash intro onto the beginning of one of our sites. Dont ask how, as you know I'm a 'newbie' (and I'm not ashamed of it) !!! Will the search engines be able to find the meta information O.K ? I've been told Flash is a bad idea, BUT I LIKE IT !!!

all the content is embeded in flash movies or xml, that are loaded into the main movie;
so how do i include text that a crawler- bot thing will read and cataloge as relevant to my meta tags?
should i put relevant text in the html and then just comment it out?- will that satisfy a crawler.?

does anyone know whether with flash mx you can now add meta tags within the flash file to help with search engines. i know that it's best to put meta tags on the html page that the flash site is embedded into, but say i wanted a search engine to search the contents of the flash site.

there must be a way of doing this in flash Mx surely.

would all my text have to be dynamically loaded from an external text file - would that help?

hi, i'm having a problem with meta tags. i've tried serval ways, i've done it the modify-->document and then a box comes up where i put in the title and then the descriptive stuff, done that published and generated a size report and copied and pasted the RDF under the header in the html file but that doesn't work, so then i typed in

I have a flash detection in my index.htm page. Then it forwards the visitor to my flash.htm page. If I put the following META tag on my first page will my flash page get indexed in search engines?

I checked a search engine and the only page it indexed wad "Detecting Flash page". Thats not good! So I want to change it. Thanks.

Meta Tags Or Similar In Flash?
With my website built in Flash i want to make each page have key words. However the Flash website will reside on 1 HTML page. Usually when you have different HTML pages you can simply add a meta tag like so..

<meta name="keywords" content="key1,key2,key3">

This will make the search engines pick up the site easily. Is there a similar feature in flash to reference certain keywords for search engines to pick up?

Would the only way around this be to put each flash page on a different HTML page?

I have heard alot of people saying that flash sites will not get ranked even if you put meta tags in, and others saying they will. How do i use META Tags for Flash Websites, i tried using it like it is used for HTML websites, but it just doesnt seem to show up in the Google Search Engine. If you know what could seem to be the problem, please let me know. Meta-Tags Search Engines And The Like...
Folks,

Been speaking to a client, who's web hosting company has said to them that Flash sites can't have meta-tags and therefore won't be picked up by search engines. I've told her my view on this, and things I've picked up on the web, and a site that I have created in Flash comes up top in Google when it's products are searched for.

I wondered what other members of the Forum's views were. I know you all like a good debate. Flash or HTML?

I'm just wondering. Is there a list of available meta tags to put at the top of an AS file?
For example, I have

[SWF(width="400", height="250", frameRate="24")]

Which works great, and I would like to add more meta code. For example, I would like to exclude some libraries when I export, and I'd like to have it in the code instead of in the compiler options because it's a lot more convenient to just comment/erase code from the source then going to the compiler options every time...

Anybody Avoid Flash Because Of No Meta Tags?
Hey guys i would like to know if many people avoid flash based designed because the lack of meta tags. If this an issue nowadays........ or do search engines focus more on other criteria (links, etc)? Should I be worried that a completely flash based website won't be found on google?

I've done a pretty extensive search regarding search engines and Flash, or more pertinent, meta tags and Flash. I can't find a conclusive answer, wondered if anyone had any experience of this.
1) Can I put meta tags into my html file ( the one that has my Flash movie embedded) - if so where ?
2) on my preLoader I have a ticker tape message which contains all the key words I want to use - this is dynamically generated - will search engines pick this up does anyone know ?

Stylesheet Applying To A Tags, But Not B Tags In Dynamic Text Box
Hello, I have a dynamic text box that pulls HTML-formatted content from a PHP script and everything is working, including getting it formatted with a stylesheet, except the stylesheet seems to be ignored for <B> tags. This is the code I tried:

b,B { font-weight:bold; color:#6600FF; font-family:Baskerville; }
a:link { text-decoration:none; font-family:Baskerville; font-weight:bold; }
a:hover { text-decoration:underline; }
a:active { text-decoration:none; }

This is just for texting. I have a simple textbox with plain text, part of it in bold, part of it as a link, and the link gets the Baskerville font, but the bold tag doesn't. When I set a color for the link, the link gets a color but the bold tag doesn't. I'm stumped. Any ideas?

just been doin a bit of research on the use of meta tags to promote ones site and the ield looks pretty open. I know this is probably a pretty divisive issue as search engines have different types of preferences but what in short is the best way to use these tags to increase traffic. i need to know quick or boss is gonna kick my ass!

can anyone explain where to put the meta tag codes when working with html and flashmx. would you meta tag the html index page and then publish to imbed into flash mx. i'm not sure how it works and when i type the meta tag code between <HEAD> and </HEAD> it doesn't stay or save. this is uploaded to the site once imbedded, right? please help. thanks.

I have updated my meta tags as extensively as possible. My site is still not showing up on the search engines. Does anyone have any tips? I realize that this is more of an html issue than flash, but I figure that anyone that has a flash site (as many parts of mine is) they must know a little about how you can get it up there on an engine. Meta-Menu Help
I'm working on a Flash kiosk and I'm hitting a snag. The client wants a menu that can be accessed from anywhere in the presentation to jump to any other slide. I posted about this before, but I think my questions were too vague. I've had a bit of a breakthrough, in that I've figured out how to make the menu come in and the whole thing fade, but I'm still unable to get the buttons on the side menu to do what I want. I'm attaching the FLA which is as far as I've gotten. As you can see, the buttons to go from blue to green work fine, but the red button is SUPPOSED to take you to the green state. I know there's a simple way to do this, if someone could just point out any errors or give me a nudge in the right direction, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Instead of using the META name="keywords" for search engine in HTML file.

Does anyone know if there's a way of how to use it with XML and Flash?
