Who No MIDI?
Okay, I know that you can't import MIDI into Flash. But does anyone know WHY? I know some might argue that things will sound different depending on people's soundcards and drivers, but shouldn't that option at least be available? I mean, I have a 40 sec MIDI file and it is 11KB. If I convert it to a WAV, it's 331KB and that's in 8 bit mono. Even if I use compression techniques, it's still gonna be a lot bigger than 11KB.
If I didn't like how the MIDI sounded in Flash, then yes I could convert it to WAV (which I doubt I would like the sound of that, since the quality has to be reduced). But I would like to at least have that option, ya know? Any thoughts?

when i try to import .midi's to flash it says can't read , is there aNY way to make it so u can change midi to mp3 or wav cause i searched and it costs cash but i odn't want to spend cash so anyone have a suggestion

I don´t know if this thread is good... but what about Flash playing MIDI sounds someday? Do you think that macromedia will consider this option? I think that that will be very good due to MP3 sound files size...
I hope they think about this...

Midi Files
This is not a flash prob but I can't seem to find anywhere else. I work in Dreamweaver 2 and have put a midi file of jingle bells on our site. This plays great, but whilst I can have it so that the controls don't show I'm left with an icon on the screen. Is there anyway I can make the icon invisible so that only the music plays.

Flash And Midi
I'm new at this. I just purchased a flash movie to use as an introduction to my site. I embedded an midi into the page. Since the flash is a large file, I hoped the music would entertaine users while the flash downloads.

However the movie starts immedately, the midi starts playing and the movie stops. Nothing seems to be downloading, and my isp seems frozen. Any suggestions.

Should I put the flash on a page in a frame and the midi on another page in the same frame, would that work. The flash and the midi seem to work together on my local computer when I tested it. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Can You Import MIDI?
On this site, I could use the sound effects they had. I would click MP3, a little box would show up that would play, and to get it on the desktop, I would save it as quicktime. Just to let you know, I have a Mac, so wavs don't work. But can't you convert wavs to AIFF or MP3? I can't do it! I tried opening a wav up with a CD ripper and the file didn't show up (meaning I couldn't open it).
I really need to import a MIDI! I had a MIDI on the net opened, I saved as quicktime (just as I did with the flashkit sound track), but flash couldn't import it! It said it had problems reading it. I've tried this a million times, and I still can't import the MIDI file! (note, I have flash mx)
I checked info on the flash kit effect, and it was a sound track. I check info on the MIDI file, and it was a music track. Does that make a difference?
I really need this question answered! PLEASE RESPOND!

Ok ill make this question short and to the point,

Im making a final fantasy remake game, I have all the sounds in midi format its about 40 min of sound and its only like 20k ... If I had to convernt it into wav. it would be over 15mb... So there no way to put midi files on flash

Well sence I dought you can put these in flash is there any site on the intrenet that has a midi to wav. converter?

Hi, I'm relatively new to flash, and I was wondering if there is a plug-in for either Flash 5.0 or SwishMax that would allow you to import a midi file for use in an animation rather than an mp3 or wav. It seems to me like this would be a good way to go most of the time to save bandwidth, but I could not figure out how to import a midi. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

I've been messing around with MIDI files and can't seem to get them to work within Flash.
What I want to do, is simply create a menu with my MIDI files (XML??) and play them within the FLV.
Does anyone have an example of how this could be done (assuming it can) or perhaps a better approach?

I'm trying to import a midi file into a projector file -
The only way I know how is by attching it to my final project by using Jugglor. This, however plays the midi throughout the whole flash file.

If at all possible, I want the midi to play when I press a button.

I wish to use flash as the video part of a live music performance. The music is created externally to the compter on various midi instruments. But is all connected to the computer via Midi cabeling.

Is it possible to setup midi triggers in Flash, like in a standard music sequencer?

Is there a way to integrate midi in flash (as you can do it with
mp3 or wav)? I do not want to convert it since it takes too much
space in mp3 format. And the option to include the file in html
is not possible since it has to start at exact point.

Maybe to call an external html file which only has code to launch
midi in it? But then how to stop it? (stopallsounds will not work
or will it?)

BTW..I use Flash MX.

Transparent Bgr And Midi With Flash?

I have two different questions put into one thread.
1. Is it possible to make a flash movie with transparent background, that is all the HTML graphics will be seen behind the transparent movie put on top. (Like a gif picture)
2. Is it possible to load a midi file from HTML code and then manupulate it through Flash with the fscommand? (sending PLAY, DoStop commands to the corresponding JavaScript functions?)

Accessing The MIDI Voices
Hey all,
Wasn't sure whether to post here or in ActionScript, but here it is. Anyone know if there is a way to access and use the MIDI voices from within flash or by using action script? I'm trying to make something like a midi or step sequencer and if i could access the midi voices it would eliminate the need for 6 octaves multiplied by 12 notes each worth of recorded samples. Flash Getting MIDI Inputs?
Hello there,

I was wondering if there is anybody who knows anything useful about what I am trying to do. I am trying to get Flash to interact with MIDI inputs. As in I want flash to for instance execute functions based on when certain keys are activated on a MIDI keyboard.

I want MIDI - events.

The only way I've been able to do this so far is by having a MIDI-keystroke translator running in the background and code things through that detour, but I am hoping to achieve more out of the whole thing. Besides, what I have set up is a bit clumpsy.

I have found something called [Flash Open Sound Control] but I am having a bit of trouble sorting out exactly what that is.
