I've searched through the forums and haven't found a solution that I have been able to get to work. I'm trying to align a MC but to no avail...

My "main.swf" has a some buttons and is 700x450. The buttons are used to load other "sub" MC's (content1.swf, content2.swf, etc.) depending on the button selected. These MC's are 700x300 and need to be positioned at the bottom of the main.swf because all of my buttons are on the top of the stage. Seems like it should be pretty simple....

I'm trying to load a "content1.swf" into a blank MC called "load1". Then I'm creating another MC called "show1" where I add an instance from "load1" I just created so I can align it on the stage how I wish. Then once a button is pressed i'm loading "show1" from the library. The MC is loading but I cannot get it to align correctly. No matter where I move the instance of "load1" insided "show1" the MC loads at the default top left of my "main.swf".

Any help or direction is greatly appreciated...

Movie Alignment
I was working on two movies, one was 800x350 and the other 600x300, now I had to put them into one movie. Imported the layers of the larager movie into the smaller because there were less frames. But now the since the entire movie is larger, the smaller one is not in the center anymore, how would I go about aligning it to center?

It would take too long to copy each layer into a movie clip and then aligning it in the scene, or if I would do align each layer, it would kind of get messed up due to the layers...

Does anyone know how?

Test Movie Alignment?
I really hope this is a simple fix and thanks to all that take the time to read this.

Currently I'm making alot of short cartoons that, hopefully, I can put up on a website so that friends and family can watch them. Thing is, the whole time I've been making these cartoons, I've been using the "Control>Test Movie/Test Scene" command in flash to "watch" the cartoons as I made them. Mainly I used them to watch how everything went and most importantly, the alignment. Of course, flash likes to show in this "Test Movie" a larger area than the stage. And naturally, having just noticed this, my cartoons are a bit skewed on alignment. I can still using the "Control>Test Movie" command and watch it perfectly, but the moment I try to publish it (whether as a Flash exe. or HTML doc) I always end up with messed up alignment. I've tried everything I can think of (changing the stage size in Flash doesn't seem to do it) so I'm at my wits end.

Am I going to have to go through ALL my cartoons and realign each keyframe so that it will show up properly in HTML or Flash exe's? Please tell me there's an easier way.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Hi,

I'm having problems aligning movies to the vertical middle of a page and would appreciate any help people could give me. In Dreamweaver it looks like the movie is centred but when I preview it in a browser its gone to the top of the page. The code I have created using Dreamweaver 8 is below. Many Thanks.

Movie Alignment In Browser Window
can anyone help...

whenever i view a moview in my browser it never fits to top and left...no matter how i configure the publish settings.

i've messed around with putting it in tables and frames but would rather not and wouldnt have thought i'd have to.

any ideas?

ps..i'm using a mac..dont know if that might effect things

I'm trying to align my movie in the HTML page the way that it always would be centered not only horizontaly but also verticaly...

For hoizontal alighnment I'm just using:

Flash Movie Vertical Alignment Off 1px
I have a flash movie that needs to blend in with a jpeg next to it, and the flash movie is about a pixel too low and it might be a pixel too much to the left. The fla file has all x and y axis are perfect and the images used are perfect. I have viewed in both safari and firefox and both have the same issue.
Any ideas what is going on?

Changing Alignment Of Imported Captivate Movie
Hi,

Thanks for the forum, I really hope somebody out there can help me with this simple problem that I cant solve!

I import a captivate project/movie into my flash document. I want to change the document size, however, since after the captivate elements are imported, I will need some space on the left for a slide-in navigation bar(about 20pixels) and also a 1px space around the edges.

- So the captivate resolution im importing is 800X600.
- I import it into flash, and then change the document size to 820X602, to allow for the button/navigation menu on the left and the border.
- Everything works perfect, except that the extra 20 px space I need is on the right instead of the left.
-Here is my question:

When importing the captivate movie or any other movie for that matter or flash file, how can I align the new imported movie and all its elements/objects to the right?

The captivate file is huge and I cannot align each item individually!

Alignment Options In Movie Clip Loaders?
I was wondering if there was a way to align images(jpegs) loaded into movie clip loaders.The jpegs loaded into a movie clip always align their top left corner with the registration bullseye mark of the movie clip. This forces me to always make the pics the same dimensions even if one picture is vertical format and one is horizontal format. This creates a time consuming extra step in the process. Is there coding available to force the pic to load, lets say, centered into the movie clip so that every pic doesnt haveto be altered/embellished in this way? It looks unprofessional when a vertical format pic loads into the left side of the stage. I hope I'm explaining myself. Hmm. I'd really appreciate your help! Thanks in advance.

Simple Movie Clip Alignment Problem
Hello to all.

I have a movie that has multiple layers and is published at 100%, no scale.

Within that movie I have all movie assets/clips centered, but one. I am trying to load the final clip to the upper right corner so upon brower resize, it will always be in the upper right corner.

From my understanding I create the clip, do not drag it to stage, instead export it for AS in the library and attach the following code to it:

Button Movie Clip Control And Alignment Issues
I’m trying to develop a flash based website to showcase our house project. My question is this: I have three plans that are on three different layers. I want users to be able to click on any of the three plans to 1) view a small version (a large thumbnail) 2) the option to open a larger view of the plan in a new window, or 3) return the plan to the its original location.

My desire is to animate the plan to “rotate” clockwise from its staring place to the display place (motion tween) elsewhere on the stage. If the user decides they do not wish to view the plan I want the user to have the option to click the plan which will cause the plan to rotate counter clockwise back to the starting position.

My other question is how to align a jpeg within a clip when it is loaded using the loadmovie action script. When the elevation is loaded into an instance “clip” the picture is located to the bottom right within the instance that I’m loading it to. Frustrating. My desire here is to align the picture in the center both horizontally and vertically.

MC Center Alignment Doesn't Work When Loaded Movie
Ok, I have a really weird problem. I've followed the tutorials but can't seem to get this simple thing right (am i losing my marbles?!)

Hopefully, someone can help.

My main movie features just a holder MC and some AS. I want to load an intro animation from an external swf which has all the animation based on the main timeline.

I have put this code on my main movie:

The intro swf is loading fine but it places itself on the bottom right corner of the page. Its almost as though the intro swf has a registration point set to the top left corner but is that actually possible if all the animation was done on the main timeline of that movie??

How do I align objects? What I mean is, I have 4 separate text items and would like to align them (left) without doing it manually?

Is there anyway to get an SWF to fit exactly (no margins) into an html page? The only way I have been able to do this is to place the SWF into a layer. Otherwise I can get it to fit with a approx. 1/8 inch margin. Should I be happy with this? I really want an exact fit.

OK let's say my movie is in 500 by 500 pixels and let's say I have a text box 200 by 200 pixels. When I go to align the text I have in the text box that is 200 by 200 pixels how can I use the alignment buttons without it a aligning 500 by 500 and just the 200 by 200?

i've got an html page which holds my swf file. i've managed to get the swf to be centred from left to right, but what i want to do is get it centred from top to bottom too. i just want the swf to sit in the absolute centre of the html page i.e. halfway between the left and right, and halfway between the top and the bottom. can anyone give me any clues what i need to do with the html? i've tried a few things.....

I'm placing a graphic on the stage and when I test the movie it is off by one pixel down and to the left. I manually reset the graphic and it's misaligned on the stage, but then it looks correct in the tested movie.

I created the background and the graphic in the same document, so they are on the same size stage.

What is going on?

My flash MX N E V E R put my swf in HTML on center, always in left. Even I set Flash alignment (horizontal and vertical) -CENTER and HTML alignment default. Where is my fault?

When I use Stage.align = "T" or Stage.align = "TR", it moves the movie clip around on the preview swf but when I publish it and view it through html and my browser, it is in the same place. How come?

The bridge instance shrinks as the mouse enters the given coordinates.
Unfortunateley it only shrinks upwards, and I would like it to close in from the top and the bopttom, is this possible, or is there a way of keeping the instance centrally aligned on the vertical axis?

If you go to http://www.vulvair.co.uk/flashkit it should help, just move the mouse to the bottom of the image and you'll see the problem.

First of all I REALLY want to thank everybody who answers these questions, no matter how stupid they may be! My boss actually thinks I know something about Flash!! All I know is this great forum, and you all have been a great help.

Having said that, here goes another stupid question.

I have placed a text box (with some small text in it) in a movie. In the the paragraph panel I chose to "justify" my text. The text aligned it self and looked good, but when I published the movie as HTML it got aligned left only! Is there a simple way to produce a justified text in HTML?

Okay, I know this is a HUGE newbie-type question, but here goes...

When I try to test a newly-made movie clip, I end up viewing it way up in the top left corner of the screen. How do I set the properties of the clip itself so that it's not aligned to the top left corner, but rather to the center of the screen? It's very frustrating, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am trying to design a banner for a website. The banner should start from the very far left top screen, but instead there is about a 5-10 pixel gap from the left side and top of the browser window. How do I make the banner flush with the window? Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED.

How do you move the crosshairs in the Library? I am following along with the http://www.one-motion.com tutorials, with isometrics. The MC in his library shows the crosshairs at the top, mine always stays in the middle. I can't believe I am stuck on something like this.

When I publish for a specific window size for web play, I always get a border (top and left) in browsers other than IE. I have the publish settings set to left/top and margins to zero in Front Page.

hi, Im making a simple flash site, and I made everything centered on stage, halfway through I needed more stage space so I made the width bigger, but now the first part of the site is off center. how can I scoot everything over so that its centered on stage?

There is just one problem... no matter how much I change the value of _x for each element, the scrollpane always aligns the movieclips to the left side. I really want all of the elements centered in the pane. I've tried adjusting the alignment of newMovie.Stage with no success. Any suggestions to get these clips to align center??? I need help on aligment and size of .swf files showing on the web. On publish settings I have it set to center horizontal and center veritcal. As for size I have it on Match movie.

But when I view it through the web its aligned on the top left corner. I even have an index.html file to center my front opening page and thats not working either.

How can I get it to center and get the size of the file to fill the whole screen?

I have been trying to align a box over a jpeg image,I have it aligned exactly in the workspace so that it fits into the jpeg seamlessly but as soon as I test the movie the box shifts about 2 pixels??? does anyone else had this problem and found a better solution than compensating for the displacement in the work area? I have tested the swf independently in Flash Player and even composed a html page to test it in Explorer and the same distortions occur.

Please can someone end my frustrations with this as I have put a lot of time into rectifying this without success.

BTW I use Flash 5 on a Mac.

I'm using a createTextField, and really it works great.
Except, if it's an input type, and I have the alignment set to anything but "left", then a person types inside it it still left justifys unless you "recreate" the mc using the text data after they typed it.

I've produced a square flash movie in Flash4 on my mac.When I upload this onto the web I want it to appear in the centre of the browsers window and always fit to their individual screen size.Do I need to add some code to my html file to acheieve this.
