Can MX 2004 Pro Files Be Opened And Modified In MX 2004?
Hi,
I've done alot of work with Flash MX 2004 Pro in a class I took. I'm looking into buying the Flash program for my own personal use. I checked out the school store and found that I could buy Flash MX 2004 there at a discount price.

My question is, will Flash MX 2004 allow me to open the .fla files I finished in my class, even though I used Flash MX 2004 Pro to make them? If not, I'll have a lot more saving to do...

I have mx 2004 at my job... we were supposed to get professional but our purchasing department bought regular mx 2004...

Can you go from mx 2004 to professional? How do you do it? Whats the cost? Do I have to pay for an upgrade like I was coming from regular mx?

.FLA Opens In Mx 2004 But Not In MX 2004 Pro?
I'm having a nightmare here!!

i've been working on a site (i'm struggling enough with that alone!) but earlier today i had an error whilst saving and somehow this has resulted in my original .fla being deleted (no back up).......aaargh

i have now managed to recreate the .FLA by using a .fla to .swf decompiler but when i try and open it in MX 2004 Pro i recieve "unexpected file format" and it won't open, however i can open the recovered file in MX2004....so not is all lost, but its not ideal.

Is there anyway i can save it from 2004 so i can open it in 2004 Pro? or is there a fundamental difference between the two file types? ( i find this strange if true since they are both part of the 2004 range? plus surely 2004 pro is backwards compatible to 2004? most software apps are?)

sorry if this has been asked many times before i'm just at my wits end and trying to understand a little better........i'm quite new to flash!

for my work now i want to invest on buying macromedia mx studio

for which i have arranged funds ..

i d/l a trial version of macromedia flash mx 2004 professional

.. the problem i faced in it was of writing the script .. part which was all n all in expert mode

and not normal mode

i havent tried macromedia flash mx 2004 cheaper version

if any one of u have tried it .. does it support writing script in normal mode ??

which package shud i invest my money on ..

I am still on the 30 days trial with Flash MX 2004 and I wonder what would be the best choice for me when I go on buying it. Should I buy Flash MX 2004, Flash MX 2004 Pro or MX Studio. I want to create animations and games for my web site. I wonder if the other softwares of the MX Studio would really be useful. I already own Photoshop so I guess Firework would be of no use. Is there other softwares that I may need to create animations and games?

I have a question. I've been using Flash MX 2004 Professional at work for a couple of Flash movies that I put on the Optim Electronics website. Now, since I put up a Flash examples page that has examples of various Flash techniques, I would like to show my supervisor what Flash is capable of doing. However, you can only download the Flash MX and MX 2004 versions of the Flash source files at the Flash Downloads web page. Will Flash MX 2004 have problems opening the Flash MX 2004 file?

I bought some flash templates the work with flash mx 2004 but not the pro version. So now I need to use flash mx 2004. I tried uninstalling and deleting the registry, then installing again, but I dont get the option to choose anymore.

now i'm not sure if anyone has askked this question, but is there a way in mx 2004 to change the settings of the actionscript window. it now only offer what is the same as the expert mode in previous versions, but for speed and simplicity, i like the normal mode. is this possible, and if so how?

Been using 2004 for a couple of days, finding it very frustrating that you can't right-hand mouse click for actions or properties.
Also that you can't scale by percentage anymore.
Does anyone know if any of these preferences can be changed?

I used MX2004 Pro yesterday for a client for the first time and I couldn't locate the normal/expert toggle menu in action scripting. Does the choice exsist in the Pro version? From all I could see, there isn't any assistance in typing any of the code, with the exception of a basic stop(); or gotoAndPlay....but no drop down menus to choose the syntax and scene or label choice.

I have read revirews on MX 2004 and am undecided what version to buy. We create a lot of CD-ROMs and ideally want to use flash to communicate (read/write) with a local database. I also intend to use XML more. Will 2004 pro help me create such features more easily?

Using <img> In MX 2004
I'm making an interface for a site that I'm working on. I have 2 text fields, 1 is input and 1 is dynamic (the output) for previewing what has been done. I use an onRelease button event to trigger a few lines of code that create a string of xml code, then pass that into an xml object using var myXML:XML = new XML(myString). The value of the node I want, <[!CDATA[My HTML formatted text here]]>, is then passed into the output textfield by accessing the value of the proper node. No big deal there. It all seems to work fine, just giving you some background on how it works.

The problem I am having is using the img tag and having text perform the way I want in relation to the image. If I insert the following into my intput text field...

(first "less than" deliberately left out so you see the code)

now I want this text under the picture

what I get in my output text field is "now I want this text..." beside the pic on the next line down. Using the br tag instead of pressing return doesn't improve the situation, either. The only way I have been able to get it to work is to use enough carriage returns after the img tag so that the text is underneath. The problem with this is that I want the site to be simple to update. Having to go in and use 20 carriage returns after the img tag makes things confusing for people. I also have trouble when putting a picture at the end, which causes only the fire text line of the picture to be visible. In order to get it visible, I am having to hit return a bunch of times then put a visible character, like a period, in the last line so that the whole picture shows. Is there a way so that if I press return after the img tag, it moves down to the next space after the entire image?

Help 2004 Pro CSS Help
This was made using Flash 2004 Pro on a Mac.
I have a list and a text area component on the stage. When a user selects a lable from the list it loads a .txt file associated with that lable into the text area. Simple enough right? The text area is formated from an external style sheet. Still simple enough right? Ok here's my problem. I use a good amount of bullets (<li></li> tags) to break up the content of the text. When you click on the first label and scroll all the way down, and then select another label the new .txt document that is loaded is all bulleted like crazy. Also the scroll bar stays at the previous position so you have to scroll all the way back to the top to start reading the text.
I've attached my source files for anyone who is willing to help. This was made using Flash MX 2004 Pro on a Mac! Thank for any help.

MX 2004 Bug ?
i have download the flash forum from http://phpforflash.com the board.fla only have 480kb, when i publish it to board.swf, it have 14.45MB. The board.swf is too large!!!

But when i open the .fla file by flash mx version, it can publish right (the board.swf just have 63kb)

What can i do ? Is Flash MX 2004 have some problem or my setting is not correct ?

I just received Pro. I need to add some video in my Flash presentation. I want to use the progressive download. I see I need to make flv files to do this. Whats the best way to create flvs? I have Premier 6.5 to capture but I have this problem with it crashing everytime I try to save video. Is there another app to create flvs from my video camera?

I recently got ahold of MX 2004,

As far as I can tell there is no longer the option to write action script with the help of clicking on the commands.... For example instead of simply clicking on "set variable" and having it write out the proper syntex for me with boxes available for me to input my variables.... Now I have to actually write out the action scripting by hand with syntex perfect etc.....

My question is: Is this just a setting I do not have correct, or did they actually eliminate this feature? and if they did... why on God's earth would they do that? Those who wish to hand code always could, so why get rid of the feature for those of us who are more designer oriented.....?
