Myspace'ish Button Masher Games
hi, thanks for taking a sec to help me out. I was wondering if there are any helpful links on tutorials or actual .flv files that are like this. these types of flash games are very prevalent in myspace where you have to click the button x amount of times to win, sometimes you are against the computer in a timed race. when you win it then pops up a website.
I couldn't find anything here like this, or on google so I thought maybe somebody would know here.

Button Action Script Not Working On Myspace
Im tryin to make a simple myspace page using flash 9 Public Alpha.

Preventing Button Spamming In Games...
I have tried everything under the sun I can think of to prevent the user from abusing buton spammnig but so far have been unsuccesful. The character fire a beam from his hand with the "F" button but if you press it really fast its like he has a frickin laser machine gun on his hand . And I REALLY dont want the user to be able to sit in one spot and just spam F till armageddon...
I have tried unsuccesfully to use getTimer, but I think MAYBE its a logical failure on my part.

peace everyone,
now i've been seeing a couple of myspace pages using flash. but these guys aren't using the typical glitter / pimp my myspace type generators. they are using their own skills to freshen up their pages. check this out if you have the chance,

And its going to be flash with alot of frequent updating, (etc, news, and shows) the band has a myspace i was was wondering if there was a way where i could set it up in flash so that when they update there myspace the same variables get updated in flash?? on their site. i have made a countdown timer to countdown to a date when a friend of mine will come back from schooling. I have exported it as an swf, but now I want to upload it to Myspace. Trouble In Myspace
Hello,
I'm having a problem with my links. I've made a movie to put onto myspace and I have a few links in it. Basically they are like this:
button 1 - getURL in blank window
button 2 - getURL 'myURL' [in the html I have value="mymovie.swf?myURL="http://www.mywebsite.com"]
button 3 - gotoAndStop ("Scene 2", "error").
I know that my actions are scripted properly because they work when I export and publish the movie. But in myspace the results are different. On one computer they work perfectly; on others, only 'button 3', the one with the action that acts WITHIN flash works. the buttons that are supposed to getURL in new window do nothing.
Does anyone know why that would happen? Is there scripting I need to include or remove? please help.

I have an RSS Reader Designed to read the blogs and used a component loader to load the jpg shown own the myspace. I have been making a flash website for MySpace. I have made a comment box and field.
The code i have put in works perfectly fine in Firefox but not Internet Explorer..

I made a flash object that should link to my favorite webpages, to put in my MySpace profile, but it doesn't work -- the links don't link.
It should work -- the actionscript is right, thr URL's are right, buttons all proper. What could the problem be? Is there anything I can do?

[CS3] Flash Bug On MySpace
I develop for a company that provides widgets for MySpace and other social networks. Over the last few weeks we've been receiving quite a few complaints from users on our forums. The gist is that Flash video or mp3 players are not functioning correctly on MySpace. They all seem to load fine (indicating that Flash is installed), but the functionality of the players or Flash itself is broken. This seems to not be confined to IE or FF but does appear to be only Windows users. This doesn't seem to only affect our widgets, even MySpace's own video and music apps are receiving complaints as well.
What's strange is that I've not updated our code in almost a month, so I'm pretty sure this is either a Flash Player or MySpace bug.
Some of the complaints:
Flash will work fine on my machine UNTIL I VISIT A MYSPACE PAGE. After that, flash videos will freeze-up after 2 seconds on any flash video, song or playlist... on any webpage, regardless of whether it is myspace or not. If I clear my cache, then things work fine... but only until I visit a Myspace page again. I've heard of other people having the 2-second-mark freeze problem. But I've never heard of anyone specifically tracking the problem to Myspace.

Is it possible that antivirus programs are affecting Flash files on MySpace? Or does anyone have any ideas?

Myspace Problem
okay so i have this flash file, and i have a MC on it that when the user clicks it, i would like it to open a new window,
right now im using this code:

and when i test this in my regular test enviroment as well as in a separate html file it works perfectly, however when i click it while this is on my myspace, it doesnt do anything...
does any one have any idea why this happens? and know how to fix it?

Preloaders On Myspace
Does anyone know how to put a flash on myspace, with a working preloader? Everytime I put a flash on myspace, the entire flash has to load before it displays, this basically kills preloaders, and it looks really ugly. Does anyone know how to fix this? I read somewhere that you can make a small container flash, that loads your actual movie, but I don't know how that works.

I want to post a flash that grabs text from a seperate text file- It's so I can upload new tour dates for bands easily by uploading a new text file with the new tour dates on it- but it's for myspace which is disabling the flash grabing the external txt file for security reasons...so is there a way around this? Without having to make the txt file internal or having to change it to an image? I'll admit Im a novice at this to say the least, but is there no way flash can do this is or is there something that works in concert with flash that I can use? Any ideas help. Thanks!
Linking To Myspace
Hi guys, I am working on a new myspace profile in flash. I have it all done but I am getting output errors from flash . The errors are all on links that link to myspace functions such as "Message Me". I am guesing this is because the myspace URL uses questionmarks and other such symbols...correct me if i am wrong.

XML Gallery On Myspace
Hello, I've run into a bit of a problem.
I created a small XML/Flash slideshow gallery. I uploaded it to my host and tested it out in my browser and after some small oversights got it working perfectly.
I'm currently in the process of customizing my myspace profile, and where the gallery comes in I'm essentially replacing the table that includes your profile picture and link to more pics with this XML/Flash gallery.
This has become the problem. After embedding the flash file on my myspace profile, I find that the swf does load, but the XML isn't being loaded...getting no images populating my swf and no other data populating either.
Other info: All paths to images, XML files, and any other file have been stated absolutely within both the AS and the XML. So it's not a relative addressing problem.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Xml Photogallery For Myspace
so here's what I'm trying to do, and here's the problem
I'm trying to make an easily updatable photo gallery in flash to be placed on a friend of mine's myspace page. I used this tut

the swf reads an xml file and can then display the pics and captions from that xml file. so all I'll need to update in the future is the xml file and upload the new pics to a server and I'd be done, no need to open up the fla at all.
the only thing I changed from the original is the design to make it match her myspace page better. as far as the action script, the only part I've touched is the location of the images.xml file
changed from

to

or
xmlData.load("http://www.the1801.com/thejared/temp/images.xml");
whenever I change the action script to go get the xml file from somewhere online, rather than just grab it out of the same directory as the swf, it seems to have trouble.
I created a photobucket account for her and have all the pics uploaded to it, but since photobucket only allows pics, vids, and swf, I needed a place to host the xml. So I set it up on a freewebs account (free hosting site) and eventually on a temporary server I have access to (as a test place).
the problem is when I embed the swf in a page, it plays it, but it can't load the xml file.

won't work, but
src="photogallery.swf"
will work, even if the html page that's loading it is in the same temp folder. this is a problem, being that it needs to be embedded into a myspace page
for those unfamiliar with myspace, they restrict some things on their pages. Iframes aren't allowed (which would have been the easiest solution). you can't use javascript, and object tags don't work. so basically you're stuck with the embed tag. besides that though, pretty much the rest of HTML is allowed and I'm pretty sure everything in CSS is allowed, (as long as you're not blocking thier ads).

the top is a link to how it should display, the three things in the middle are my attempts to host it online and link to it from another page (like what would be happening on myspace).feel free to view source. in IE the freewebs one won't display (for me) at all, I think freewebs may have something to stop linking to thier files from other pages (anti-leeching), however in FF for me it displays perfectly the way I want it to, but this could just be on my computer, being that I may have logged in or viewed the original swf on the freewebs server and firefox's weird caching system may just be retrieving it or something (I don't know). anyways, I want something that works every time in any browser and on any OS (especially mac, since my retarded friend spent an ungodly amount of money on an ibook that is only used for changing songs on her ipod and playing around on myspace)
the fla is in Flash MX 2004, but I also have Flash 8 if it will help anything

there's an option when exporting fla's as swf in Flash Pro 8
Local playback security: Access local files only or Access network only

just as a note, the goal is to have an easily updatable photogallery, preferable something that all I need to do is edit a text file and everything will be updated, so if there's another way around this entire thing, I'm open.
I know it's possible, because there are services out there that allow you to do on-the-fly loading of images into an swf on myspace pages, but I don't like the way they stamp there names all over it, and the lack of control over the look of it. I'm guessing it may be using something with php or something, which I wouldn't have access to (no server of my own to use for php, plus I don't really know any php)

Embed .swf In Myspace?
Hey there. I am trying to embed my .swf file so it displays on my myspace page, but i think i severely screwed up the code.
Here are my issues that I hope you can help with:
1.) i want the video to be compatible in IE & Firefox. (currently it works better in firefox)
2.) NO loop
3.) the links in the page must function when the correct code is in place.

Heres what i would like to do...
in your friends section on myspace, i would like to put a flash file there...which of course i can do
what i would like to do is maybe make an xml file for each of my friends, and the flash file randomly chooses friends and shows their pic and info and stuff
and then after like 5 secs it would change friends...could that be done?

MySpace + Flash + PHP
Hi Everyone...
I know there are a lot of issues with MySpace as far as using Flash etc.. I'm not a MySpace user so I don't really know the answer to this question.
What, if any, are the limitations to adding a flash based contact form (done through PHP & MySQL). A client wants this done and I'm not sure if it will be functional.
I'm thinking there might be some issues with accessing the PHP on the client's server and/or posting back to a MySQL database. If I made it a straight email form (again via PHP) but instead of linking to a MySQL it just sent an email, would that work better or are the same issues at play?

The Flash portion seems to work as when I click the submit button in the Flash movie posted on MySpace it puts "undefined" entries into the MySQL database.
Any ideas on what the cause of that could be? Is this a reflection of the Flash/MySpace interaction or a error in the in the PHP?
