Hi, I have a pure Flash MX site.. What is the best way to upload it to the server so that when google and the rest of the gang do their crawls it will acutally list my site?
Should I just uplaod the index.html and all the .swf's or should I upload all the .html files and all the .swf's?
And how about meta tags? Only on the index.html page or what?

I designed my entire web site in Flash. It came out great but can't be found by search engines. Does anyone know how to use Meta Tags (keywords or descriptions) with Flash or have any other solutions?
I tried inserting it into Dreamweaver and filling in the keywords and descriptions but they disappear after I save the file.
I am html ignorant and new to web design and Flash.

I read everything I could on meta tags but I still can't answer this question.
I added the meta tags on the html file.
Now everytime I do some changes to the movie I have to republish it...so that I create the new html file. Is there anyway to keep the meta tags or do I have to rewrite them each time?

Any tips on the placement of meta tag information? In fact I am not sure where I do that. I am familiar with the HTML coding but assume there is faster way in Flash. Perhaps there is a tutorial that would be recommended. Any help is appreciated.

We have website with 5 HTML pages. Each HTML pages holds a Flash movie.
I know that Meta Tags are no longer used, but is there any other way to get search engines to "see" the content of our site? (I assume they can't because all the text is in the flash movies)
Like, hidden HTML text "behind" the Flash movie? Anything like that?

[AS3] Meta Tags?
Hi, guys.
I've been searching the Adobe site for ages looking for a list of the meta tags ( Embed for example ) that can be used in AS3 classes ( when compiling with Flex2 / mxmlc )... but I can find squat.
If you embed an image I imagine that there should be an option for the type of compression used ( JPEG / PNG ), so I'm basically after a list of attributes for the meta tags... like source... [Embed(source="")]
Can anyone point me the right direction?

I know this question has been answered before, but I thought, what the hell, let's ask again and see what kind of response there is this month...
Actually, most of the posts I saw are 6-8 months old, some with broken links, and they all seem to contradict each other.
If anyone can tell me what they think is the best way to setup a flash only site for Google, please let me know!
On one site, I added an html splash page, and some html pop-ups with an href link back to the flash home page on each of those, but I have a really anal client who is speaking to other web developers who are all telling her that flash web sites can NOT be set up to be found in google searches!!

all the content is embeded in flash movies or xml, that are loaded into the main movie;
so how do i include text that a crawler- bot thing will read and cataloge as relevant to my meta tags?
should i put relevant text in the html and then just comment it out?- will that satisfy a crawler.?

does anyone know whether with flash mx you can now add meta tags within the flash file to help with search engines. i know that it's best to put meta tags on the html page that the flash site is embedded into, but say i wanted a search engine to search the contents of the flash site.
there must be a way of doing this in flash Mx surely.

hi, i'm having a problem with meta tags. i've tried serval ways, i've done it the modify-->document and then a box comes up where i put in the title and then the descriptive stuff, done that published and generated a size report and copied and pasted the RDF under the header in the html file but that doesn't work, so then i typed in

I have a flash detection in my index.htm page. Then it forwards the visitor to my flash.htm page. If I put the following META tag on my first page will my flash page get indexed in search engines?

Meta Tags Or Similar In Flash?
With my website built in Flash i want to make each page have key words. However the Flash website will reside on 1 HTML page. Usually when you have different HTML pages you can simply add a meta tag like so..
<meta name="keywords" content="key1,key2,key3">
This will make the search engines pick up the site easily. Is there a similar feature in flash to reference certain keywords for search engines to pick up?
Would the only way around this be to put each flash page on a different HTML page?

How do i use META Tags for Flash Websites, i tried using it like it is used for HTML websites, but it just doesnt seem to show up in the Google Search Engine. If you know what could seem to be the problem, please let me know. Folks,
Been speaking to a client, who's web hosting company has said to them that Flash sites can't have meta-tags and therefore won't be picked up by search engines. I've told her my view on this, and things I've picked up on the web, and a site that I have created in Flash comes up top in Google when it's products are searched for.
I wondered what other members of the Forum's views were. I know you all like a good debate. Flash or HTML?

I'm just wondering. Is there a list of available meta tags to put at the top of an AS file?
For example, I have
[SWF(width="400", height="250", frameRate="24")]
Which works great, and I would like to add more meta code. For example, I would like to exclude some libraries when I export, and I'd like to have it in the code instead of in the compiler options because it's a lot more convenient to just comment/erase code from the source then going to the compiler options every time...

I've done a pretty extensive search regarding search engines and Flash, or more pertinent, meta tags and Flash. I can't find a conclusive answer, wondered if anyone had any experience of this.
1) Can I put meta tags into my html file ( the one that has my Flash movie embedded) - if so where ?
2) on my preLoader I have a ticker tape message which contains all the key words I want to use - this is dynamically generated - will search engines pick this up does anyone know ?

Why Won't Flash Pick Up Meta Data From FLV File?

I've built up a package around Lee Brimelow's custom video player using a bit of his tutorial in AS 2.0 and the update in AS3.0. After some tweaking I've managed to get most of the functions working.
However, it would appear that although the old AS2.0 code would pick meta data in the clip such as duration, I can't pick up the data using this code.
Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Xml Tags Are Displayed Despite Of The Css File

I am implementing a flash movie with external xml files and a css. The thing is that I'm using a code that I found in a tutorial of actionscript, the code is:

it works properly in all samples in which I've tried it. However, it doesn't work in the movie that I'm doing for a personal website. In this movie, the kungFuStyle is undefined and all Xml tags are displayed in the textField of the movie. Does someone know what it happens?

Include File Id Tags? Possible?
fellow actionscripter,
this may be impossible but i am just curious if an include file is capable to have tags reference much like html id tags.
so in different frames of a movie, can i call the include file using tag reference? Is it possible to call the same include file instead of calling many include as files. Having one include file with many specific tag sections, can save me creating many include tags with only a couple of lines each? Does As files function like html id tags?

HTML Tags In XML File?
I've got an XML file populating a text field.
The XML node is

The Actionscript is:
imageData.caption = imageNode.firstChild.firstChild;
and then later, in a loop:
_root.cpTray.cp.cptxt.html = true;
_root.cpTray.cp.cptxt.htmlText = data.caption;
But the field displays the text literally, including the <b> and </b>
What am I missing here?

Text File With Html Tags?
Hi
here's quite a simple question:
I want to load a text file into a scrolling mc but with the top line of the text only in bold type.
I understand that it's possible to use a few of the basic html tags for formatting text using Flash 5 but when I click on the html option it either doesn't work or the whole text is in bold. Is there a way round this - an easier system maybe?
Does the html option work for all platforms and with Flash 5 and 6 players?

Use Html Tags, But Not From Text File
ok, i am trying to control the color of certain parts of a dynamic text field using html color tags, but i am not loading the text from a text file. i want to hard code the varible directly in flash.
for example:
ActionScript Code:

i have the dynamic text field set to render html, and multiline. but it doesnt work. however it works when loaded from a text file. for this particular project... i need to hard code it into the swf though and not use external text file.
i am thinking it must be some url encodding issue or something...
oh yeah, and i have to export as flash 5, so i cant use and of the new mx font attributes.

Hi there.
I am wndering iy someone out there got an idea about what's is wrong with my text editor. I made a scrollbar in action script §3 all from scratch and loaded an external text file edited in text Wrangler to display in the field, and sudden all my HTMl tags are not responding though added htmText to it. Well, the only tag responding is the link tag, the rest no, like bold, or italic or colors. I need help, really suffering since two nights now. I can even buy it if effective.

Using HTML Tags In Imported XML File
In an application I am building, I am bringing in my text via a series of XML files. I would like to have HTML formatting within this text, but the methods I have found by searching don't appear to work

Parsing HTML Tags From Text File
I have a text file with a variable declared parsing out text within a paragraph element like so:

I set my text field to be dynamic, render as html and give it an instance name of networkingText_txt. The text loads fine in my action script layer but I can't get rid of the paragraph tags in my text box. In other words, the HTML tags are not parsing out correctly.
Am I missing something?? Any hints would be appreicated.
