Help With Flash Paper
I work for a company developing eLearning courses, and recently I have gotten stuck on a problem. We bought a few courses from a vendor, and then customized them to fit our needs. Basically all I was doing was using the toolbar they provided for navigation, and calling external .swfs that contained the course material. Everything worked great until I had a course that contained a flash paper .swf. When I try to load this, the fp refuses to load. There are a ton of global setting in the toolbar that they had preprogrammed, so I'm really not sure where to start. It's sort of complicated since I'm basically calling an external .swf, from inside another external .swf. I hope this makes sense, any help would be greatly appreciated. Does anyone use FlashPaper? I need to start using it for this project I am on and I can't seem to get links to work from my MicrosoftWord Doc. I go to print and pring my FlashPaper and it loads great into flash but the links don't link in the document. Also, is it possible to get rid of the FlashPaper Logo in the upper left hand side?

Does anyone know how to load a .swf movie from a Flash Paper file? In essence, there would be a link in a Flash Paper file and when the user clicks on it will load another interactive .swf file. Is this possible without just linking to another html page which contains the .swf but instead doing it within the Flash Paper shell?

Flash Paper Bug?
Hello,

I created a new document using Word 2007.
Microsoft Office 2007 uses Calibri and default font and Cambria Math as default font for mathematical equations.

When I create the Flash Paper document all the text and equations disappear.

Does anyone knows how to solve this? Is this a Flash Paper Bug?

I have just got Flash paper ver 2 as its supposed to create documents and preserve hyperlinks. It creates the document ok but the hyperlinks show up blue but they dont work. Anyone any ideas why not?

I have created the documents from work html all with the same result.

I re-downloaded my Macromedia Studio 8 and cannot seem to remember how to get the use of Flash Paper any more. I did have it and it was working great but now I don't know what to do so I can use it. In truth I cannot even figure out if I was able to down load it as I seem to recall it being a seperate download when I first bought this in Dec 05.

Editing A Flash Paper Swf
I have converted my clients magazine to flash paper swf and now I want to add a rollover and link to the advertisements on the page. I was hoping there was a way to open the existing swf and add an invisible button and or an animation. I know how to import the flash paper swf into a blank Mc so that it runs properly but that doesn't help be to add functionalilty to the swf. ???

Any thoughts.

Flash Paper Problem.
Hey guys... I'm having a bit of a problem with Flashpaper. When I export a pdf into it, it'll rotate it for some odd reason, I've seen this on multiple pdfs too.

Any ideas?

Flash Paper Problems
My first try at integrating flash paper, into my student site, has been bitter sweet. A few of my students complained that an error message, about action script slowing down the computer, popped up. Well, at first, I thought that maybe they were just trying to get out of doing homework until I check the site on six computers, in my schools computer lab.

Unfortunately, two out of the six computers displayed the same error message, about the action script. I have gone through all the possible causes, and cannot seem to figure out what the problem is.

Well, here is the deal, I am calling up the SWF, that contains the flashpaper, and loading it into a LOADER component, located on the stage. I am using a TREE component for the menu to call up the SWF, --flashpaper-- movies.

If you have a little time, could you check out the site and tell me if you got the same error message and if you do, give me some advice as to how I can fix this problem.

I only have Flash 8 Professional and I'd need Flash 8 Studio (which isn't available anymore) or the CS3 Suite (which is only available as a trial by ordering DVD's!). And the Flash Paper trial is only for Windows and I'm on a Mac...

Printing With Flash MX On A4 Paper?

So I manage to print my print_mc (800x600) on landscape. But now I notice it scales print_mc down. I mean 800x600 equals 28cm X 21cm so it should just fit on a A4 paper.

I need to use a FlashPaper.swf from inside my main swf and i just cant get it to work.

I can load if it comes from outside of the main.swf but if i import it, i just cant use it.

Any ideas how to solve this issues?

Flash Paper Advice
Hi... A friend of mine wants to produce a document online, he's shown me a few examples where the pages turn etc. I've seen the page turn example also, but I feel like Flash Paper would do the job better as it has built in search functions etc. Wanted advice from people who have had expereince in this area... Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!

Dont Buy Flash Paper
I dont know about you, but when i bought my car i had the dealer take off thier dealer logo from the back panel of the car, something about paying ford 14k so they can advertise everywhere i went didnt seem right to me. I told the dealer remove it or i walk, and well they removed it, the promise of making some good cash to them ment comprimising free advertising for me.

When flash paper 2 came out, i thought of this... why would macromedia release a software that tacks a sizable logo on the top left corner of the FP toolbar and even worse, links directly to thier Flash Paper store page for purchasing the software. Now i know you might say, well flash has macromedia info on it, and so on ... but its not so blatant and in your face as a direct linked 55 x 85 logo on a mandatory tool bar that is seemingly unremovable.

As a long time customer of macromedia, it, to say the least, bothers me that they would relase a software with such a flagrant attempt at marketing. Now they say its not directly aimed at marketing thier product or advertising, but then why would you put a logo on something you sell.... the logo is nice, but its not such a grand work of art that it is needed to make the product better, but rather its an attempt at advertising.

The product is a great product and if you dont mind your clients or your internal staff viewing and linking directly to MM store within 1 scroll length and 1 click, then the software is great but if you take issue with paying someone money so they can advertise, well then dont buy it.

just my 2 cents i guess take it with a grain of salt...

Flash Paper Question
I know this might be a bit premature as flash paper is still being offered as a demo, but... after previewing the demo ( by accident ) to my client they were instantly charmed by what it can do. they would need a way to create flash papers via the web just like you can with *.doc and *.pdf files. Does anyone know if flash papers can dynamically be produced through a web app.

Flash Paper Pop Up Size
I am using buttons (Flash MX) to call several Flash Paper files (for user reference).

BUTTON CODE:

This results in a full screen popup, which will not work (this is deployed on a touchscreen, effectively eliminating all interactive real estate about
1" from the edge). I have tried altering the _height/_width property with no success. I am about to just create a popup and insert all the text, but this is a major undertaking (hundreds of pages) and negates all the leverage gained from the Flash Paper in the first place.

Any Suggestions/help?

Replacement For Flash Paper
I was planning on using Flash Paper to convert a .pdf file into a .swf. However, I am running Vista and Flash Paper does not run on vista(according to Adobes help site). Is there anything that is similar to this? Or is there a way to read in a .pdf file and display it in a movie?

Flash Paper Hacks
A client came to me and asked me to use flash paper in his project, but he wanted it layed out book style (1 page right next to another) versus the way flash paper lays it out as 1 page on top of another. I managed to figure it out and got that working as you can see below:

My problem is I had to set the initial zoom level to 61% or something like that. The client said thats fine, but when they go to zoom in, the pan tool only scrolls the page up and down as you can see below:

I need it to scroll side to side as well. Now I am usually against SWF decompiling, but yes ill admit I decompiled a flash paper yesterday so I could get the instance names of the pages which is how I was able to position them that way. I would probably be able to figure it out, but im at school all day so it wont let me install anything. If you have any idea on how I could hack around this or if someone could decompile this swf for me and copy all the actions I would greatly appreciate it. Flash Paper .swf Resizing Issue

I am creating a Flash projector file to be run from a CD. I am using Macromedia's FlashPaper - a fantastic application - to create .swf files from a multitude of .pdf's included on the CD. These .pdf's should be viewable either within the projector file (loadMovie into existing MovieClip) or as Pop-ups (tough to do when I'm not using a browser and I can't make projectors out of the FlashPaper .swf's).

Macromedia FlashPaper documentation suggests this code to resize the .swf document when I load it into an MC on stage but I can't get it to work. I just don't understand what I'm supposed to do with the code. Can anyone help? Pretty please? -j

Call Function From Flash Paper SWF

I have a word doc that I'm converting to SWF via Flash Paper. This SWF will be embedded into a parent SWF movie. I need for some text in the Flash Paper SWF te be a link that calls a function defined in the parent movie.

In the Word doc (before converting), I:
1. selected the text to be used as the link
2. did insert > hyperlink
3. entered asfunction:myFunction as the hyperlink

When the SWF is played and the cursor is placed over the link text, the cursor changes to a finger, indicating that there is an active link, but clicking produces no response.

Other links (links to other web sites/pages or links to bookmarks within the doc) created from within Word work just fine. It would be great if this did too.

Has anyone tried to acheive something similar or have any ideas for a good workaround?

Flash Paper Load Problems
Hi,

I have made a site in flash for a restaurant.
for the menus i wanted to use flash paper, i converted pdf documents into flash paper docs and my main flash file loads the flash paper files on click on specific frames.

The problem that I have is that the site loads very slowly
i do not have or know how to load the site at the begining.
Therfore if someone has a slow connection, things do not load properly and site seems to not function unless you refresh the page and then things work

can anyone help?

Flash Paper Loading Problem
I am loading a Flash Paper file into a flash container. On some computers, it preloads and then only a blank (white) page, with the Flash Paper logo, loads when the project is coming from a local CD drive or a local folder. The Flash Paper seems to always load correctly over the internet using the same computer. I am using IE as the browser..

Solved: Loading Flash Paper Doc After The Flv Is Done... ?
i'm trying to make my swf to go and open a flash paper document after it finishes playing this flv. I tried putting an empty movie clip and just giving it the onClipEvent but it seems that it deosn't go to the second frame (where is where i have my empty mc. When the flv stops playing it just stands there on with the skin and i'm thinking it doens't go to the second frame where the empty mc is... how can i get my flash paper document to work after the flv has already played?...

Loading External Flash Paper 2 SWF's
I'll try to keep it short since theres TONS of posts in here now...

My problem is this...
I had this idea where I would publish my resume using FlashPaper2 to create an SWF.
I created a Flash file and messed with different methods of importing SWF's... I tried loadClip, and loadMovie..

The problem is not getting them to import into the new SWF, but once the FlashPaper SWF is imported, it takes up the entire stage then seems to ignore any layers that happen to be in the new SWF.

Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how did you get past it? ... If you havent had this problem, check it out, you'll see what I mean.

Converting Multiple Files Into Flash Paper
I'm working with Flash Paper, and converting 100-page catalogs (currently in .pdf file format) into .swf files. Is there a way to batch process this, so I will not have to convert every single page by itself into a .swf? I can switch to using .eps files or any other file that Adobe InDesign will export, if these alternative files mean an easier time converting large amounts of info into .swfs.

Flash Paper Showing Screen With Logo
Hi everybody,

I am just learning how to use FlashPaper, and I have learn already how to load flashPaper
files into movieclips, and everything is working perfectly.

I have a problem though, when I play my movie and load the flashPaper document, there is
this fraction of a second where in my movie appears the flashpaper logo in a light color
background.

Could anyone please help me to get rid of that "frame"? Is that suppose to work like that?
