Pictures In A Dynamic Text Box Help
I have a dynamic text box with scroller and i put some small pictures in it but when i scroll up and down the pictures dont move in place with the text they just stay put - anyway to make them move with the text?

what i really need is a tutorial, from the ground up, on how to use the scrollpane component to scroll a movie clip(s) which hold dynamic content (text AND pictures) from a XML file. ive found tutorials and answers in this forum on how to use the scrollpane to scroll a movie clip filled with dynamic text only........but what about a movie clip filled with both dynamic text AND pictures?

please let me know if there are any tutorials (or fla movies available to learn from) on this subject. my brain is on overload in trying to figure out the solution to this problem.....ouch!

Dynamic Pictures
Hello again


I'm designing a portfolio web site for my brothers photography. I want to be able to click on a thumbnail button which will then load a movie clip with the larger photo in it. I dont want all the photos loaded in the flash file. Is there any way of the larger photo movie clip to call a photo from the server and display it with in the movie clip. (does that make sense?) I really dont want to use pop up boxes or html pagers to display the larger images.?

I'm going to make sure that all the photos are all the same size.

I just learned how to use dynamic text from a text file. Is there a way to have a dynamic picture as well? Say, I have a box 100 x 100 and the picture that I want in there is named pic.jpg. How can I just change the pic.jpg picture on the server and it changes on the site? ..... I hope I wrote that clear.

Dynamic Pictures
I was wondering if anyone knows a way that I can have pictures loaded without having to number them or even telling flash the folder that they are located in. I thought that I might be able to read the folders in a directory and the name of the folder might be the name of the gallery. Then the pictures in that folder would be displayed without me having to number them or specify that there are any pictures there.

I know that we can input a text file, but i tried with a jpg but it's not work... It's certainly another fscommand.

Dynamic Pictures From Outside Source.
Is it possible to load pictures from an outside source just like you can with .txt files? I don't want to import them all in, because it would be a huge file. I only want 3 pictures to be displayed, but they would be different photos every time.

Looping Dynamic Pictures
I have made a flash movie where pictures (loaded dynamic) replace each other. At the last picture it fades to the first picture (so it always loops). This works all great but when its start again, the picture has to be loaded again.
Is it possible that flash keeps the picture in his memory? So it doesn't always have to load the pictures again?

Dynamic XML Pictures In Flash
Hi Guys, what I am trying to do is create an swf file which sits in a dynamic webpage. The swf needs to dynamically load thumbnail pictures (which a user uploads through ASP and C#), via xml and lay them out in a line. I have found some useful tutorials on this topic, but the problem is that, I need the thumbnails to be buttons as well! These buttons need to link to the url where the full size picture sits. So the process goes:

1. A picture is uploaded to the website and is stored in a directory (both as a thumbnail and as a fullsize image).

2. The image details are stored in an xml file (which is called into the flash movie via actionscript 3).

3. Each thumbnail is loaded in an swf file dynamically.

4. Each thumbnail links to the actual larger image as an external URL.


I have done all of the above, apart from point 4!! So I am really close to solving this but don't know how to make the external thumbnails into buttons and how to link them to the larger picture. Dynamic Vs. Embedded Pictures, Which Is Better?
Hi ya.
[disclamer]I sure someone has asked this before but when i searched i couldn't find the answer i was looked for. [/disclamer]

Which is better for load time and playing of a movie, to load the pics dynamically using MovieClipLoader (or another one) or to place the pics directly into the swf. I don't plan on changing them once there are set so that isn't an issue. I am more worried about performance (CPU, RAM, smoothness of tweens, load time, etc.). HERE is what i am build right now, if you want to look as a preview.

p.s. On an unrelated note, to make a user input text area that is masked, do i need to embedd the fonts. Right now if you click on contact you can't type anything into the form. Thanks.

Check If Dynamic Pictures Loaded?
ok here we go. I am loading a bunch of pictures but i want the pictures to fade in once thay are done loading. Ok basically i know how to do this. Ian told me to use:

onClipEvent(data);

Well that solves one problem but i got another.

Problem: Ok i have loader bars that i want set up to detect the loading status of pictures. For this to work right i need the Total Bytes and the Bytes being loaded. I kno how to get that action of a MC being loaded like so:

(getBytesLoaded()/getBytesTotal());

Something like that. I got that working for MC's but i want to load pictures into MCs and get the bytes loaded of the picture. Any ideas???? thanks.

Dynamic Loading Of Pictures Problem
Hi there,

I'm having a problem with my site. When i make a loader for dynamic loading a picture and scale it within the loader (using mx2004), export it in a swf, and loading that swf inside my main swf the picture perfectly scale itself.
But when i publish it on the net, and i load that page, the picture isnt scaled. Its way to large. when i go back and return to that page again, Its scaled perfectly. (Im stunned).
Does anybody knows how this is possible (maybe a flashbug)

When I simulate a download in Flash, everything is perfect, but when I run the .swf online, the preloader doesn't work, because .getbytesloaded and getBytesTotal returns every time "0". Database Driven Dynamic Pictures HELP
Hi there, Im a little stuck on my project. Ive got so far, and cant go any further *sob sob*

What im trying to make is an ASP database driven flash image site. So far, I have all my thumbnail images and main images, and a menu system in ASP that will direct the user to one single page (view.asp), that will pull the image loacation from the database, and dynamincally load it into the flash movie.

What im struggling with is the actionscript to do this. I hae made one movie to load in the main image (i'll make another for the thumbnail after I know how to do this)

To communicate with the database, I am using the embedded movie's name plus recordset, i.e. mymovie.swf?image=<%imageloactionfromdatabaseStrin g%>, so this will give me a root variable of whatever the image location is under the variable of "image".

What I need to do, and where I need your help, is to load this variable as an image..... How do i do this in actionscript?

All the images are the same size, 400x400, so the actual placing of the image in the flash movie will be the same. If anyone knows how to align this to the top and right edges at the same time, so if the image wasnt stock size it would still be aligned topright, that could be useful to know too.

To say I'd be thankful if anyone could help would be an understatement!!!!!

Dynamic Pictures Not Loading All The Time
Hi

i basically have a swf that is full of ppls names contact details and a picture of them. You click on the persons name which brings up a "popup" with details etc. The popup is just a mc that is only visible once the person name is pressed and then hides when the close button in the profile is clicked. The problem im having is with the pictures.

First profile u go to the picture loads up fine (the images are else where on the net all the same folder) the next profile u click on the image doesnt appear then the next one u click on the image appears etc. All the pictures work okay just wont load one after another. The images load up in a mc inside the profile mc.

What is the solution to this massive problem im having??

Dynamic Pictures & Motion Tweening
Hey Flash ppl, i have a question about my new website..

I have like 10 to 20 pictures, but it's imported. Now i would like to load them dynamically, but the pictures are tweened. Will this mean i'll have to actionscript, or just use a component:'loader' and use some manual tweening, or is this impossible??

Preloading Dynamic Pictures Befor Replacing One
I want to do this:

I have a movieClip that should holde different dynamic pictures.

Because I want to awoid any flickering I want a temp container for when ever I load a new picture into my clip, - when the picture has loaded it should replace the picture in the original movieClip so that I get a smooth transition and no 'blinkink'


How would one do that?

Would it be possible to show pictures in a flash document depending on the dynamic range of an audio file?
For now it would be sufficient to let Flash choose from 3 colours:


As an example:
High range (hihat)= yellow
mid range (voice)= blue/green

Weird Looking Pictures And Text

Am using the scrollpane component in Flash MX. Everything works nicely for all my movieclips except one that is really long (vertical long).

How To Load Pictures And Text
hey guys

i have 10 pics on my webserver. pic1, pic2, pic3, ... pic10 (all same size)
i also have 10 txt files on my server. text1, text2, ...text10

now is my question,

how can i load these pics and text in a container

so when a button is puched, it loads pic1 and shows text1
when button is pushed again, i want pic2 and text2 to load in the same container.

and is there a way todo this, so i can add more pictures and textfiles to my server without changing the fla file?

Loading Pictures/text
Hi!

Is there some way to load pictures/text into an SWF without it actually being in that SWF file? For example, if someone clicks on a thumbnail, i want it to load the picture, however, since there are many pictures on my website, i don't want them all to load with the flash itself. Likewise, with text- i write a lot on my page and i want people to have the option of reviewing older writings, but i don't want it to all load right off. If anyone knows a good way to do this, i would REALLY appreciate it! Thanks!
