i am having real truble trying to get pixels font's to work. they are all blury and some time the letters are colored in. i am using the slikscreen font but have tryed others. i have try loads of difrent font sizes. is there any thing i am missing (any settings you set before useing pixel fonts)

i am useing flash MX on the PC but i could them to work on the MAC ether

Non-bitmaped/pixel Fonts, Working With?
Here is the deal,
I wanted to have a clean looking font on my site, but there's some lil' problems. I have to find a small px. font, that has the accent over the "E"
for example the word "carpe' has the accent over it. I have been using flash mx's arial font, because it's small and has the accent. now is there any small fonts, comparable to the arial size. 8, that have the accent over the "E"?

I like how small the arial shows up, but its not clear when pre-viewed in the browser on older computers. Is there something else I should try like, anti-aliasing, or aliasing text?

Anything will help...I am at standstill....need help soon!

Pixel Fonts Not Working Whatever I Do (USING FLASH 5).
I know how i should be using a pixel font, but no matter how i try and use it, the thing never seems to work in a published movie or scene. It is a nightmate for me.

I know it must sit at the 0 coordinates, must not be centered etc etc etc etc. But it makes no difference. And barr burning my apple mac, i just dont know what to do anymore. I am using Flash 5, and i know there were bugs that mean i cant use dymanic text with pixel fonts. But this shouldnt matter as static text will embed the pixel font regardless.

Would someone look at this text .fla example and explain what in my settings/publishing is wrong. Any help would be great, i feel like i am cracking up now.... i just dunno what to do.

For your info... i downloaded this example text from wwww.fontsfor Flash.com , and have followed their guide to the letter. It should be at 8 size.

Yo. Anyone know any good fonts that work in small sizes (8 pointsish) that dont go yucky THAT ARENT PIXEL FONTS? know pixel fonts are good, but im looking for a smoother look. a good example is (suprise suprise) 2advanced.com..... the fonts used for links are luverly...... Anyone?

[Fonts] Pixel Fonts Are Closing Gaps..
Hi there,

I've got a weird and irritating problem. I have a font, supernatural_10_02, which I use in a site. This is a pixelfont, so I'm taking special actions to make sure the fonts look non-antialiased. This works fine, the text looks very nice. Untill I export the movie, then the gaps in letters are being closed for some strange reason.

To ******** things, I've uploaded two examples. First an example of how the font looks on the Flash MX Working stage:

Then an example of how this same text looks when I export the movie:

What is going wrong? And what am I doing wrong.. Is there anything I can do to prevent those letters from closing? Please help!

I'm using Flash MX 6.0 on Windows XP

Ps: I've tried to export the movie on a Macintosh, the letters on that mac did not close?! Really weird..

Pixel Fonts Becoming System Default Fonts?
Hello, when I try to use some of the pixel fonts I have downloaded some of then turn into 'system default fonts' as if by magic and then fail to work, the ones that work like the FFF fonts don't turn into 'system default fonts'. Is there any way to stop my fonts becoming system default fonts, and would this ensure they dont muck up?

There are hundreds of pixelfonts out there, just check http://www.dafont.com/en/bitmap.php for example, but most of them don't seem to work with Flash!?

So far, after installing loads of them and trying them out I have only found the Kroeger, Hooge and Standard fonts from miniml.com and one called "Fixed_v01" to work...

I was wondering what pixelfonts you guys have tried? I would love to find a really small pixelfont like silkscreen that works with flash.

Hello all,
I am new to alot of this stuff but I am using a pixel font that I have embedded inside of an input box. It starts of sharp for abou thte first 8 characters then starts getting blurry the move letters you type.

Anybody know how to prevent this??

i managed to download a few pixel fonts off the net, installed them(if u wanna call it install) and well when i view flash files *swf/*exe whatever i see them perfectly allright, but then of course when i use the flash files on another computer that doesnt have that font installed it looks squif and weird and bad quality and so on, how can i use pixel fonts properly so they look almost identical to what i want em to?

hello.. i have a bunch of pixel fonts. and theyre still showin up blurry, ive done it all, ( i think ):

1. made sure the height of the pixel is 8, ( or corresponds to the recomendations
2. have left justified the text feild.
3. i have set the location to a whole integer.
4. when i preview the font its anti-aliased, man this is annoying.

also... i have a few fonts that look okay when im in the flash authoring environment, but then when i preview the swf, the D,B and a few more letters dont have the middle knocked out (holes). this has happend with fonts such as.._04b_03b, 04b_08b, 04b_11,

please help!

Hi. I am using a pixel font for some text which at size 8 looks really sharp on the canvas but when I preview the movie, the text is slightly blurred. Any ideas?

Hi, does anybody know about using pixel fonts with flash? I've recently downloaded some free pixel fonts and planned to use them in a flash site, but because Flash anti-aliases the text they look blurry, defeating the object somewhat...
...anybody have any tips or ideas about how to avoid this problem...it can clearly be done as I have seen numerous flash websites that employ pixel fonts.

hey i was just wondering how the sites i keep seeing have theyre pixel fonts.... well.... so pixely. i can never get mine to be like theyres. im using fonts from www.fontsforflash.com , and mine always seem to be a bit blurry. when i click the "use device fonts" it dosent look exactly like what they have either. am i doing something wrong??

Hi,
I've been using pixel fonts for quite a while now and know all the issues about aligning them to exact pixel coordinates and using exact sizes to make sure they don't antialias.
However, I have noticed with a few fonts that I want to use, that when authoring in Flash they look fine, but when published, the flash player still antialiases them The player also frequently fills in the 'o's too, so they appear as filled circles rather than the proper ring shape...

...anybody experienced this, or know a way round it? Am I missing something?

I'm doing flash site and im using that little fonts(pixel fonts)..i m using this font like device font but when i enter on the site by other computer the pixel font are replaced by other font. What i have to do to the pixel font appear on the other computers that doesnt have this pixel font installled on it?the pixel font must be on the server?on the root directory?

I am looking for a pixel font that is readable at quite small sizes like the one used on this site: ihearithurts. I have downloaded the 'pixelfont' font from the font dattabase on this site, but at small sizes it appears blurred. could someone tell me how to correct this or where I can get a proper pixel font that works?

This has probably been asked many, many times before, but none of the other topics had a very clear answer. Anyway, where can i get a pixel font exactly like the ones at www.theory7.com? The one I really want is shown in the attached image. I searched the flash store, and they didn't even have the font up for purchase. And heck, if I could get it for free, it would be even better. If I could get an answer, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!!

ive downloaded countless pixel fonts but they dont show up how they should all crisp and clean like.

and the ones that do, are always filled in in places. (like the opening in a "D" would be a fill)

if anyone can shed any light on the matter, that would be greatly appreciated.

i have downloaded a number of pixels fonts to try to improve the text quality on screen.

A) it doesnt look any clearer - so what am i doing wrong ???
B) all of the pixel fonts look exactly the same - whichever font i choose. why is this happening ????

I am new to flash so be easy on me. I have a website that I am working on and would like to use pixel fonts, but for some reason, no matter what I do the fonts come out blurry or to small to read... I am using a free font called pixel dust. Any suggestions on what I should use or do so that the fonts "popout" or look cleaner and crisper?

I'm using pixel fonts on my site, I've followed all instructions on how to make sure they appear correctly, but when I publish, the holes of some letters appear with black smudges (not blurs).

I need a pixel font in the way of FFF Extra, i.e, one with graphics to use like icons (printers, letters, speakers, etc).
I take a look at www.fontsforflash.com and www.dafont.com but there isn't anyone that I could use like icons.

I'm using a pixel font in Flash 8 with a scroller. On some pages the font appears perfect whereas on other pages of my Flash site the font appears anti-aliased. And in some cases the font will appear crsip, but when I scroll, it will swicth between an anti-aliased face and a crsips pixel font as I scroll.

I've checked, double-checked, and so forth and the scrolling text boxes are placed in the same places, the fonts are set to have no antialiasing, etc. In other words everything is identical from page to page. Is there any reason the font will appear ok on one page and not on another?

I'm using some pixel fonts such as fff access but at very small sizes it is very unreadable. Also when I break apart the text it is also very unreadable, actually any size the font is no good.

Have tried other pixel fonts and the result is the same.

Is this a setting somewhere? or are the fonts not designed too well. Any one know some good free pixel fonts? or any ideas?

Hi to everyone! i hope someone can help me with this, it´s been a headache for many many hours...

it´s about a website i´m designing. i have the home, that have a top and a bottom, and it´s always visible, the sections are loaded by a "loadmovie" from a separate swf file, now... the problem is that i´m using as common.. pixel fonts, at their correct size and located correctly on 0.0 and 0.0, the fonts in the home looks pretty sharp and also when working the separated sections they look perfect, but when i load a section into the home, the fonts appear Blurry!... i don´t know what this could be... does anyone can help me please??

hi. i am working on a website and have just embedded a pixel font. it seems to be working nicely. it is just taking an unusual long time to export a swf. it is taking around 5 minutes to publish. am i doing something wrong. i am just going to the text dialog box and clicking the embed button. anybody have any idea's i would appreciate it.

Pixel Fonts Something That May Help You
something I've found about pixel fonts is they are tricky as hell if you don't use the number. But one thing I found very handy is that you can't change your text box's width and height in the Info box you have to change it by selecting your box and then changing it that way (with the mouse) but if your width and height have decimals then you can simply ad decimals to your x and y posisions. example:

width = 105.3 then your x posision should be have the decimals of .7 at the end.

Anyways I'm sure this is a well known fact just thought I would list my finding since it took me a while to figure it out on my own.

Can some one point me in the right direction to learn about pixel fonts. There has to be a formula to them, I understand them to a point, but as soon as you start embedding them two, tree deep they blur out.

I'm using pixel fonts for the first time and I cant seem to make them work properly. the words are still unfocused and unreadable.
I already put the size to 8 ou 16,
no decimals in the X and Y position,
embeded the font,
tried all the anti alias modes,

nothing seems to work and the words look like blurs

Am I missing a step, or doing something wrong?

I download some free pixel fonts from miniml but when i try to write % & etc these characters don't appear! Why? On the website they are all present!

so I have a menu with some tex (pixel fonts) with a screen res of 96 dpi (WIn XP) they look crap of course... then I changed the res back to 72dpi, turned off Antialias text and rendered! AND they still look like crap!! especially the "D"s....

i have this pixl font called rr_something... i have read tuts that most pixel fonts are good at 8 point, 16 and so on... and the position should be a whole number...

the thing is, that when i previewed it, the fonts where not showing properly.. the P, B, O characters where not normal... the space inside the letters where "filled".... i have fixed this by breaking the letters apart... and erasing the "filled" spaces...

is there another way to do this without having to break apart the letters??? like, for example, i use the pixel font in a paragraph....
