how do you preload an entire site, like..

the whole site is loaded in the beginning, well excluding the vids, and songs..but the interface, and graphics are preloaded, so how can this be done?

Preload Entire File
I understand the whole proloader concept, but i want to preload the whole file which is an interactive piece with 2 movies in it. The project opens up with a movie, after it plays the user can use buttons to bring up various pictures. When they are ready they can proceed via button click to another movie, after that movie finishes there are more buttons with pictures. The user also has the option to return to the beginning at any time, so they can go back and forth to review the movies. So i would want to preload the entire thing right? Would a preloader at the beginning of the file accomplish this? How exactly would be an easy way of setting this up? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Xml And Slideshow Question - Preload Entire Image Collection Rather Than Individually
Hi

If I have my xml setup where it loads external jpgs, is there a way to preload the entire set rather than individually preloading single images.

Because its an automated animation I feel its best to preload them all rather than showing the preload bar for each image.

I understand that you can use

total = firstChildNode.childNode.length;

to determine the total amount of xml nodes, but cannot for the life of me figure out the way to preload the entire set.

Any help greatly appreciated.

I'm building out a site and wish to
a) check for a version of flash. I'm currently using moock's api.
b)keep the entire site under the same URL heading.

how do I go about this? How do I check for a flash version and keep the flash section under the same URL throughout the entire site. Is there a best practice?

Swf As Entire Site
Two questions in one really. only using flash for about 8weeks and built my whole site with it and embedded the swf in a DW page for the homesite, it's app 4.5mb, ist question does this swf load progressively or does a viewer have to download the whole 4.5mb befor seeing anything?
2nd question, where are the rest of Lees tutorials please, I stumbled on a listing of them but was simply directed to his current listing on gotoandlearn.com

Best Way To Build An Entire Site?
What "exactly" would be the best way to build an entire site? Went to tutorials but they were a little vague.

Should I have each page be it's own .swf or what? And how about all the hyperlinks to & back from the other .swf's ??? ie. home page to products and then back to home page?

Bigtime nooB question I know but....Any help would be greatly appreciated..

im creating a school project, and my presentation is a website.
Its to be all flash and stuff.
I'm firmillar with html & im pretty good, but i don't know how to make the site. I downloaded a .pdf file, with how 2 use a bg, and make buttons, which is done, but what else should i do, to create a sucsessful website??
also if anyone knows, i want to make it so i can have a button, and when u click on it, it enlarges and a video turns on, inside... anyone know how??

Entire Site In Flash
Hi everyone,

I have a question which I hope I don't just confuse everyone since I am fairly new at this.

I am building a website for a band. Now, I want the site to be flash entirely. So, the site loads and say you have a menu to your right (ie...news, interviews, reviews etc...) with main content in the center, with maybe some simple looping animated logo at the top or something.

Now say if you click on "News" how do you have the news part of the site, which naturally would be in flash, load where the mian content goes, while you still would have your menu on the right, and animated logo still on the top remaining where they are?

I don't want to use frames as in creating frames in the html code. I just want the entire site to be inside this one flash window? I hope I am not confusing everyone.

Preloader For An Entire Site?
I'm trying to find a way where I can do a preloader for my whole site... but what keeps happening is that it doesn't show up until I'm my site is 75% or so downloaded. What's going on?!?!?! Can someone please help me with this. I'm sure it's a simple fix, but it's VERY VERY ANNOYING!!!!

I just want a preloader that shows the entire downloading process, not just the last 25% of it....someone help...PLEASE!!!!

Preloader Stops Entire Site

I've now finished a site and uploaded it to the web, but found that on a normal modem it could do with a preloader, so i stuck one in the first two frames of my timeline as i usually do.

For some reason the site won't load at all now. It says its loading but it even if u sit there for 15 mins it still won't load. The site isn't very big and i had it all working before i added the preloader.

Has anyone come across this and does anyone know what i've done wrong.

Playing Music Throughout Entire Site..
I'm working on a flash site for a school final right now. I have music that plays when the site loads, but whenever I change pages with getURL, the movie changes and the music stops. I was wondering if there was another way I could go about changing pages. A way that would have the music continue to play, even when pages are changed.

My past attempts at getting a sound file to play throughout my entire site have failed.. I'm wondering if I can run a flash movie inside of another movie.
I was thinking of a setup kinda like this:

<shell flash movie with sound file>
<website flash movie></website flash movie>
</shell movie with sound file>

And have controls within the website flash movie to mute/unmute the sound for users that don't want sound.

Playing Sound Throughout Entire Site

In the lower right of the main screen click the button that looks like a play button, once the "song" has loaded click to go to any other frame in the movie (i.e. "Demos" button).... the song stops.

I would like to have the song play the entire time while you are surfing around the site. The code on the play button is below:

Load Bar Â€“ Entire Site On 2nd Frame?
I constructed a preloader with two frames only. The load bar graphic on the first frame and my entire site on the second frame. This is how I was instructed to do it: Loading on frame 1, content on frame 2.)

I converted the site into a SWF and tried to import on the 2nd frame only - but it imports to the site as hundreds of frames. So then I tried dropping the SWF in a UILoader (on the 2nd frame) and defined the source in the parameters tab. I got nothing and It goes to a blank screen. (I have all files in the same folder.) How do you properly put your whole site into the second frame?

Forgive me if the answer has been staring in my face but I'm one of those designers trying to code..

Consistent Swf Display Through Entire Site?

This is probably a topic that has been covered already, probably too many times, but I've been searching for a post on this and have had no luck. Anyway, here is my question.

I am trying to develop a banner for an event planner, she wants me to take the pictures she gave me to put into a Flash gallery (autoplay) but as a banner.
How do I make it so that the transition between my html pages does not reload the swf on every page. I need to keep it html or I would do a complete flash site.

Maybe there is a way to load html into a flash page (publish flash and load html into the published flash html)?

Entire Site In Flash- Load Help Please
Ok, Here is my problem, I am creating my entire site in flash, I have it mostly done, but I need to change some things, for one, the basic layout is the same in every page, so is there a way to load a new movie ino an already made movie, and in the one I already have made, the button that is active, is a different color, (here is the site I have done already, Flash Test Site )

I think it would go to the different pages much quicker if I was not loading an entire new movie, I am using the

code right now to load the individual movies into the one HTML page.

Also, If you are able to.... the Quote page has a form, the form is working, however, in two fields, it has this inserted into it --- _level0.email and _level0.domainname - how can I make it where those fields are empty?

Bizarre, ...Entire Flash Site Broken
I added a button last night to my increasingly complex Flash site last night and Pre-viewed and all was fine. Then once I published it to the web it completely flaked out.

What I mean is that, once published half the buttons in my movie (regardless of where or when they occur) send you back to frame one of the movie (which is my preloader) and stops you there. Thus effectively completely dismantling my site. I can not imagine what kind of change would have made such a site wide bug occur.

Any ideas.

Entire Site In Flash: Several Scenes Or One Movie?
hola!

just wanted to get opinions... if i'm doing a site entirely within flash (with 8 main categories & 4-8 sub-categories per), what are the pro's and con's of doing the movie as one giant timeline all in one main scene (intro included) vs. splitting the movie up into separate scenes (one scene per category)?

OR... should i have the intro as one scene and then the rest of the site as another scene? also, which way would be best for getting the rest of the site to be downloading while the intro is playing?

Can I Build My Entire Site In Flash? — Newbie

I would like to build an all or mostly Flash site. I would like to have navigation that directs flash movies and graphics to appear in to boxes within the same page. So, first of all, is this possible? If it is, then is it easy to do in Flash MX?
I am stumped as to how I would get animations with different timelines to appear within the same page.

Ive been looking into whether or not, it is possible to load the entirety of site content dynamically from a text file. I know, how to specifically choose and reference from one txt file to a dynamic text block. But, is there a way to have one huge file? That is to say, can I target certain things within a txt file?

Best Way To Preload A Site?

Hi excuse the dumb*ss factor here - I'm no techie expert, but somehow with help from a tutor at college have managed to make a portfolio site in Flash CS3.
1, please can anyone give me an idea how to make a preload bar - it just needs to be a percentage count-up. The design includes 10px high (1200px wide) bars anyway so I'm planning to use one of these to push the percentage count-up across as site loads. I guess it goes on frame 1 of the timeline on its own layer?? Secondly will I then need to alter all the actions and their goto frame numbers on each button/frame? Thanks in advance

2. On other portions of the site (ie events sectoin, pricing sectoin) the preloader is visible while the animation on that portion of site gets going. And in the pricing section where I load another external swf within pricing.swf the preloader gets superimposed on top of the text while the winter_right.swf is being loaded.

I figured my best solution is to just load all the contents of the site at once (all the external swfs, etc). HOw can I do this so that my preloader only shows up once and goes thru 0-100% only once (I dont want it to show 0-100% animation everytime its loading a seperate swf file).

I've included my source so you guys can see how I've implemented things (main.fla is the master file that calls everything else)

Help Needed Act.script Preload. Site
I'm really stuck in actionscripting.I now tryed to put in my preloaders but the don't seem to work at all.Can someone have a look a my files.The external swf file seemd to work but when placed the preloader it seems to be stopping at the first stop and the buttons won't react.Also if someone would have a look at how I loaded my extern.Swf.I did this with loading with a target.Did I Do this wright.In the main swf I placed a preloader in scene 2 when I test this file >when the preloader is visible it's almost fully loaded .Is this normal.A lot of thanks in advance.

[F8] How To Preload A Site Without Exporting To First Frame
I'm having a problem, and I'll make it as straightforward as possible:

My preloader won't appear because there is 1.7MB of movie clips exported in the first frame, and it bogs it down. If I simply remove these clips from the first frame, and put them at the end, the page will load, but all the movie clips will not appear on the page whatsoever.

What am I to do so the preloader will work fast, and the clips will load?

Preload Page For An All Flash Site.
Just about finished with my all flash site for my production company, but I've got a little problem.

The index site has a preloader MovieClip, that monitors the bytes loaded of the "mainPage.swf", which is loaded into a container MovieClip on the stage of index.swf.

Everything works fine, except, once "mainPage.swf" loads, none of the buttons execute. Sounds are ok, over and hit states are fine, but none of the actionscript commands work.

http://www.simplecoat.tv/mainPage.html is "MainPage.swf" hosted directly in it's own HTML page, not loaded into a MovieClip in "index.swf". Allow 15 seconds for the load.

Any ideas on how I could fix this, or a different way to have this animated preloader without having to load the main page SWF into another SWF?

Preload 50% Of Site With Lostinbeta's Preloader
Hello,
I have been searching and I know that it is possible to only load a portion of a site with a preloader. I was wondering if anyone knows how I can do this with lostinbeta's preloader from the tut on this site?

The reason I want to do this is because the site is for a photographer and the portfolios take awhile to load, if I load half the portfolio by the time you get to the second half it will be loaded anyway, so why have people wait for the entire portfolio to load.

By the way, I wanted to thank lostinbeta for a great tut, the preloader works great and the tut was easy to understand even for a newbie such as myself!

Is It Possible To Preload A Flash Site While On A Different Page?
I have been asked to do the following but I am sure this is not possible, but maybe I am behind?

I have a index.html page that contains an enter logo(enterlogo.jpg). If you click on the logo, it will open up the Flash site in the same browser window. What I would like to know is, is there any possible way to preload the flash site thats on a different page (flashpage.html) that the user is in, or embed the swf file on the same indext.html page where the enter logo is. When the user clicks the enter logo, it will show the flash site that is embedded in the same index.html page? I was thinking if this could be possible with layers or some form of visibility javascript coding hiding the flash site until the enter logo is clicked?

therefore the server will only contain the following:
index.html
enterlogo.jpg
flashsite.swf

instead of:
index.html
enterlogo.jpg
flashpage.html
flashsite.swf
