Flash :: Problem In Running A Flash MX-2004 Application On Windows 98 Adn Windows NT.

Nonworking Of Flash Application In Windows XP
I have developed www.mach9.con(/mach9.com) web site in flash. When you click on "visit my lab" button, it pop ups new window. In that window I have 2 flash projects named as project1 and project2.When we click on project1 It loads a barchat. And turn table loads when we click project2.These are working great in windows 2000. But when we go to windows XP It is giving problems. For some XP systems Both barchat and turn table projects are not loading. For some XP systems only turntable is not loading.

Did anybody encounter with this kind of issue before? Is it some kind of bug in flash MX? Awaiting for help.

Hi all,

I'm very new to flash (but a very long in the tooth programmer).

I've spent a good part of the day hunting for tools to be able to record actions on a Windows application visually and to be able to play them back (much like the way WebEx can record sessions), however in a more open format.

I then thought about flash and was eventually led to this site where I found an article http://www.flashkit.com/board/showth...plication+demo which lists ScreenFlash tool.

I d/l the demo and the style of functionality is exactly what I want (i.e. records my actions on a window and is able to create a flash file for viewing oevr the web) BUT the tool is very crude and gets the colors all wrong.

The thread notes that there are better tools out there, but I can't find them - does anyone have any urls?

Why The Hell Does Flash MX 2004 Have A Windows Xp GUI?
What the hell is wrong with Macromedia? This really pisses me off. I have a beautiful OS and I have to sit here and and look at this ugly ass GUI. WHY? Why didnt they make the MAC version of Flash blend more with OSX? I cant believe it. These ugly buttons and scroll bars. I feel like Im working in XP and its killing me.

Other than that the app truly rocks!

Help With Flash MX 2004 & Windows Vista

I just got a new laptop with Windows Vista
installed my Flash MX 2004 and whenever I try to import an audio file (mp3 or wav)
Flash crashes.

I'm able to open old files and the audio on them works fine.

Flash MX 2004 Problem With Windows 98/ME
I have developed a pretty complex presentation which combines video and synchronized slides. The way the presentation works is like this:

The presenation is broken down into sections. Within each section are 6 videos and 6 slides. Each video is synched to the cooresponding slide. Once the video plays and reaches the end it should go to the next video/slide.

This functionality plays fine on Windows 2000 and XP, but does not work seem to work correctly under Windows 98 or ME. Once the video plays through it fails to go to the next video/slide.

Similarly, at the end of the 6th (and final) video in the section it should load the next section in the presentation. This also fails to work under Windows 98 or ME.

The presentation is built based upon the Flash MX 2004 Professional "Forms" template. Each video/slide is it's own screen. The videos are using LabeledCuePoint navigation pointed at the main parent slide which hides/shows each video/slide screen.

If anyone has a work around or any knowledge as to what could be causing the problem I would GREATLY appreciate your help!

To view the problem:
1. click "Skip Opening" at the beginning of the presentation
2. This brings you to the Main Menu.
3. Click on the top Photo.
4. This brings you to the Overview section.
5. Click on "Slide 01" from the navigation on the left side.
6. This starts the presentation. The video and slide should load and begin to play.
7. The problem occurs (on Win 98/ME machines) at the end of the first video. What SHOULD occur is the second video and slide loads and begin to play.
8. The other, similar problem, can be observed if you click on "Slide 06" and let the video play. At the end of the video it should load the "Roundtable" section of the presentation.

Once again ANY HELP or INSIGHT will be GREATLY appreciated.

Flash Popup Adverts/windows That Aren't Windows
Hi there

Just wondering if anyone knows any links to tutorials to make those flash adverts you find on websites? They are actual popup windows but flash boxes that appear above a webpage.

I think they use div layers as well as some flash? But im not sure where to find a tutorial!

[Windows XP] [Flash MX 2004] [Error] Not Enough Memory?
When ever I open this one file I have been working on I keep getting this Error:

I closed Flash, restarted my computer and I still get the same problem even when I open it with no ther applications running.

Running On Windows 98
we have a client that is running Windows 98. The Flash presentation we created stops half way through and repeays on all their machines with W98. Any solution?

Streaming Windows Media Video / WMV In Flash MX 2004
Is anyone aware of a method where I can connect to a stream from a Windows Media server (mms://) and play a video through a Flash MX 2004 SWF?

I was originally going to construct something like this in Java but I believe that the recent demise of Microsoft's Java support would cause a lot of problems for the end user. Flash is my best bet.

If anyone could point me in the direction of a good tutorial specific to WMV Streaming and Flash, I would appreciate it. I have found a lot of resources on encoding video into a SWF and streaming MPEG but nothing specific to Microsoft formats.

Windows XP Home Edition: After Update Flash MX 2004 Very, Very Slow...
Hello anyone,
I just did an update of my Windows XP Home Edition. Prior to that I was working really, really well for about 2 weeks with Flash MX 2004. I did NOT notice any performance issues whatsoever. Then all of a sudden AFTER THE WINDOWS UPDATE - Flash MX 2004 slowwwwwss down.

After a little investigation I discovered 35 "Windows XP Hotfix (SP2)Q817606"; the Q817606 represent the last number; they're different on all of the 35 programs. My question is: Do I need ALL these Windows program to run? I believe they're the ones slowing me down.

Interesting Issue With Flash And Windows - Flash Start With Windows?
Hey guys,
I'm programming a flash application that would run on a user's desktop (using MDM or similar programs to convert to a transparent background EXE).
My client would like to have the users select weather they want to application to start with windows or not. I would like to know how to make my flash application start with Windows without manually adding it (the users won't have to add it to the startup folder themselves). Can flash write to the registry? Can a third party program do it for me? The client wanted to EXE to run without an installation. Thank you very much!

How To Create 'Windows' Windows With Flash?
I'd like to create a windows system like the one we use on windows. This is what i really like:
Yo have some buttons. When u click on any of 'em a popup window opens (inside could be text, image or movieclips or all of 'em). Last window it opens always shows up on top and if u select one that it's behind this comes automaticly to the top. I'd love too if u could minimize 'em and also if eacho one opens into a new swf.

Launching Flash Windows From Flash Windows
Please can someone help me.

I am trying to create my own personal portfolio on cd. The main interface is a swf and contains a list of buttons (which are the titles of my work). When these buttons are pressed I want to launch a new flash window ontop of the existing one containing the piece of work.

I have looked at javascript popup windows using dreamweaver but have had no luck. I don't know whether this is because you have to use http's or that im thick and have no knowledge of javascript.

If anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it. I am using Flash MX if it makes a difference. If the solution is using javascript or html can please explain it to me like a 5 year old because I don't know what im doing.

Windows Emulator.... Having Trouble With Minimizing The "windows".
I'm creating a website that will behave kinda' like Windows. I have a basic menu that when you click on an option, a window will open up. You can drag the windows and close them. However, I'm having trouble with the minimizing part.

Lets say that I have 3 "windows" (each is a movie clip) called "win1", "win2", and "win3". Each window has an instance of a minimize button. When you click the button, the window should minimize to the bottom of the screen, and line up in the order that it was minimized in (just like Windows). I figured out how to get them to minimize, but I can't get them to sort themselves correctly.

Lets say that I just minimized all three windows in this order:
win1, win2, win3

Now, if I click on win1 to maximize it, I want win2 and win3 to shift over to the left to take the place of win1. Then, if I minimize win1 again, it should go to the end of the row. Resulting in this order:
win2, win3, win1

Does anyone know of any code that I could make these windows sort themselves when they are minimized and maximized?

RUNNING AN APPLICATION IN FLASH
I have an application that requires an activex to download which in turn installs .cab files. Problem is it is IE dependant. Is there a way to run an application inside flash?

I would like to put the cab files in the flash and run from there? Is it possible?

I am not a flash developer so any help would be appreciated.

I am trying to make the button in my movie load another movie, but I am playing the flash in windows projector, is it posable that you can load a flash windows projector from windows projector, I tried it and had trouble, here is what I had for the action script:

When I had it as Movie 2.swf it works fine, is it possable to make a .exe to work?

Windows To Mac To Windows Problem
I'm a Mac user and I'm working on a large project with a client who is using Windows XP. My client is creating some Flash content in Windows and then sending the .swfs to me to incorporate into the site.

These files play fine on my computer. I upload them to my web server and my Windows-based clients are able to view them over the web. However, if I email the .swfs back to my client, they won't run on the Windows computer. This is a problem, since it's my client who will ultimately be hosting the site.

There is no problem with .swfs that I publish on my computer and then email to my client.

Any ideas?

Accessing Local Folders With Flash Application Running Locally
I have built a flash audio player, and have compiled it into an application. My problem is how can I use actionscript or anything else to enable a browse function to open the local folders like My Music? I have looked all over the internet and can not find anything on this.

For example if I build an HTA application, I can use an Active Object such as this one:

I have a button instance I canot for the life of me get to go anywhere other than the top left corner of my stage when dragging it from the library INTO a group !

Has this issue been raised before? anyone know of a technote.

If I ungroup the items it is ok then regroup them. This would be unerving to new users I imagine.

i have a silly problem, every time i publish a flash file to an swf and preview it in the browsers i get a white borader around the file, this is pissing me off aa when the page of my site opens i got a boarder but i want the whole browser window to contain the flash file. and when you reize the window it resizes tooo. i got after shck but ill be dammed if i know how to used it,

i'm using Key.isDown() to test what keys are depressed.

it's fine up to the point when more than 5 keys are pressed, after which it's starts acting strange, not reporting some keys. is this a flash issue or a windows issue? any way to get round it? ta.

Flash On Windows CE
I have an iPAQ running windows CE. I want to be able to produce flash movies that will run on it. I've downloaded the Flash 4 plugin for the iPAQ from Macromedia.com but can't seem to get it to work. I've produced a small *.swf file and embedded it in an HTML page. I copied both files to the iPAQ but when I try and open the webpage all I get is a blank screen. Anybody got any ideas?

I've got a problem here -when copying-pasting Action Script in Expert View pasting doesn't work (although cutting does!)
BTW same thing happens in Dreamweaver when using find and Replace feature: when you copy code in the Code View you can't paste it in the Find or Replace text fields.
Have anyone got the same problem?

guys and gals. i am thinking of buying flash mx. i am a beginner and i have buyed a book, "foundation flash 5." to learn flash. i wanted to know if i buy mx then will the book i have be used, or will i have spend money getting another book to develop in mx. another question. i have windwos xp. when i try and open flash 5 and may other programs such as media player, i get the messege its not a valid win32 application, what am i supposed to do? please help. thanks!!!

Fix The Windows Res. With Flash?
Hi Fellow flashers,

I'm working on a CD-Rom flash presentation and because everybody uses a different screenresolution in windows i wondered if it's possible to set the windows screenres. when you start the presentation.

For example, somebody has a 1280*1024 screenres. and starts the presentation. Is it possible to set his screenres. to 1024*768 so everything will look like it's supposed to be?

It would be nice if their screenres. jumped back to 1280*1024 when they close the presentation, but it's not necassary.

I know flash can always be set to fullscreen, but images like jpg/gif/bmp etc. get crappy that way, so that's not a solution for me.

Hope somebody can help me out!
