I have a presentation that I am burning to hybrid cd using mac and pc projector files. I would like the first projector file to load, in a new window, the second projector file. I have it working, but whenever I try and launch the second projector file, windows asks me if I would like to open, save, give Bill Gates more money...the typical web responce. If I click open it works great, but I would like my clients to forego that popup to reduce confusion. Anyway, here is my script.

on (release) {
loadMovieNum("test.exe", this);
}

Any suggestions I would appreciate.

Is it possible to externally load .swf files into levels of a projector file?

my actionscript loads a swf into a projector file and this file launches in full screen mode. my swf is then subsequently scaled. this shouldn't happen, the swf's size should remain at 100 per cent. how do i get around this problem?

Is it possible to load a pdf/other file from an exe/projector file on a CD-ROM utilizing a simple button in the exe?

My hope is that it can launch Acrobat and the user can view the information.

Loading A Projector From Swf? Is It Possible?
I am working on a project where I have four sections (swfs) that are loaded from a main projector. In one of the sections, I have a subsections that has documents that I would like printed. I made an app in Automator, which prints the specific document and have gotten that to work in the subsection using fscommand.

The problem I am having now is that the section swf cannot load the subsection projector. The only solution I see would be to make everything a projector, but to me that just doesn't seem right because of computer resource issues, etc...

Can I load the subsection projector through the section swf file? Or, is there another approach I am not aware of?

Let's say I have a folder that contains 20 pics. Now, if I wanna insert a loader-function script that checks HOW many pictures my folder contains, how will I do this?

HELP .. Projector On CD Loading Problems
I have a HUGE demo movie published as a projector - composed of 12 SWFs that I'm Loading in the 0 level from a main movie - basically replacing each movie as it ends. Playing on my big machine all is well, but on slow machines and slow CD Roms it is dropping frames like mad as well as cutting off the audio - which is all streamed. The client wants the sounds to be RAW 2.1 wav files.. sigh... so these things are huge.
Is there a thread, post (i'm frantically searching now) that explains a good way to effectively pre-load swfs before the frames get there????

Pdf Loading Behind Fullscreen Projector
Hello,

I would be grateful if somebody could give me some advice on the following problem...

I have created a fullscreen Flash projector which loads an external pdf file when you click a button.
The button has the following script on it:

on (release) {
getURL("mypdffile.pdf", _blank);
}

My problem is that on windows XP the pdf browser window loads behind the fullscreen projector, so the user doesn't get the chance to see it. On windows 2000 the browser loads correctly in front. How do I make sure that it always loads on top of the projector?

Projector Double Loading
I've created a company presentation in a projector file on a cd business card. There's also an Autorun file for automatic selfloading.

However when I put the cd into the e-drive it always loads double. The projector file gets loaded twice.How do I prevent this?

I have an EXE (projector file) that I have created with Flash MX2004. I also have an SWF file that I created with ROBO DEMO. I want to play the SWF file in my projector file when a user clicks a button. After the SWF is complete, I want to return the projector file. Can Anyone help me??? How do I do this.

Flash Projector Not Loading SWF
I have a Flash Projector which is supposed to load an external SWF file. It doesn't, it just sits there and does nothing.

However, if I create an SWF of the projector file and run that, it calls the external SWF in just fine. Same directory, same code, just an SWF instead of an EXE.

All files are in the same directory.

Any ideas what's happening... really urgent now... thanks.

Projector Not Loading Swfs?
OK. See what you think about this. I appreciate any help.

In MovieA.fla, I loaded MovieB.swf to a mcTarget in Movie A using
the loadMovie method. I published and ended up with MovieA.exe
(projector file) and MovieB.swf. All files are in the same folder in
the same location.

When I test it, here are the results:

When running the files from my PC:
-All files on my hard drive and running the projector file:
MovieB.swf loads into MovieA's mcTarget, no problem.
-All files on a network drive running the projector file:MovieB.swf
loads into MovieA's movieclip, no problem.
-All files on the internet running MovieA from an HTML file:
MovieB.swf loads into MovieA's movieclip, no problem.

When running the files on everyone else's PC at my company:
-All files on their hard drive running the projector file: MovieB.swf
loads into MovieA's movieclip, no problem.
-All files on a network drive running the projector file: Movie A
runs, but does NOT load MovieB.swf
-All files on the internet running MovieA from an HTML file:
MovieB.swf loads into MovieA's movieclip, no problem.

What in the HECK is causing the projector file not to load the
MovieB.swf when running on the network from everyone else's PC?????

Projector On CD-Rom Loading SWFs
Howdy, i have the following problem.

I have a CD-Rom with a Projector EXE in Flash 8. It loads in several Flash 8 SWFs ... Are these loaded SWFs shown correctly even if the user dont have Flash 8 ... Are the loaded in SWFs shown via the Flash Player included in the Main Projector???

MX: Problem With Loading Exe File In Projector
Hello.

Maybe someone could help me on this one. This use to work on Flash 5 but it doesn't on MX. I have an exe projector file (MX) that has a button which loads up another exe file but it doesn't seem to work. Here is the action code.

on (release) {
fscommand("exec", "myfile.exe");
fscommand("fullscreen", "false");
}

The file is in a folder but for now I placed it on the root to see what is going on. Does anyone know why it's not loading an exe file?

Projector File, Loading Movies On Top?
hi, wonder if someone can help. I'm doing a CD rom, full screen as Flash 6 projector, however i need to load a new movie a level above and just can't seem to do it. It's going to be for people who haven't nessecerely got the new flash player so it needs to be a projector file loaded on top (rather than a .swf which i can do).

Is this possible?? Or is there a way around it,

Problems Loading HTML From A Projector
Could somebody help me with my problem here?

I must launch an 'index.html' file from a projector which is located in the same folder. (It would later be placed on a presentation CD)

Neither
getURL ("index.html");
nor
fscommand ("exec", "index.html");
don't work. The only way I could do it was
fscommand ("exec", "index.bat"), but it produces a crude black window that obscures the original fullscreen flash from a projector.

Ok guys I have a question. I have a main presentation file with 3 external movies that load into the main file. The SWF version works great. Our clients use PC's so I publish my files as windows projector files (exe). Problem is when I give them a CD of all 4 files, when they click on the main presentation file it doesn't load the external movies....

Do I make the external movies SWF's or EXE's....

Right now I have the actionscript in the main presentation file like this....

loadMovie("xray_menu.exe", 2);

Do the external movies need to be exe's or should I just make the main file an exe and have the external movies all SWF's....

As of right now making them all exe's isn't working...

Saving And Loading In Projector File
I have created a flash projector that allows the user to drag objects around the screen. I want the user to have the ability of saving their progress and to be able to load the file and carry on from where they left off. As I am using Flash 5 I can use "FScommand save" to save and load variables. I want to know how to save the positions of the objects to a file (which will have a name specified by the user), and when loading, for them to be able to scroll through a number of saves to download the one they want. Is this possible and if so is it practical to do it in Flash. I have a reasonable knowledge of Flash but not of any other authoring environments. I also wondered if importing the file into Director and having the the Director file do the saving would work, but I don't know how to do that either. Hope someone out there can help. thanks.

I'm using the loadmovie to load a swf in the same folder e.g. loadmovie(external.swf) etc and it works fine when i run the projector but not when it is a swf on a webpage - do i need to change the url (even though the external swfs are in the same folder as the main swf)?

[Flash 8] Projector Not Loading Things @#%
Any help will be greatly appreciated:

After trying/reading/testing everything I could find related to this issue, I still can't make it work, you see, I'm making an application to be distributed by CD, as I have done so many times before, just that I don't know since when, I think since I installed Flash 8, the .exe version of my swf's (when exported as a Windows Projector, that is) nothing gets loaded.

The specific app I'm bulding right now, which is xml-driven, and loads two of them to work, doesnt work on the projector, how ever, after several testing, I've found any loading-related command wont work, loadMovie, loadMovieNum, XMLConnector.trigger, LoadVars.load.. none of them works... The thing is, the swf works perfectly. When publishing from flash, I have both .swf and .exe files checked . One version loads everything, the otherone does not.

You even have the option (you might have seen it) to make a projector file from a swf when viewing it in the standalone flash player. Even when doing that the .exe output wont work... So I'm pretty much desperated right now... anyone?? ... please??

PS.: Here is my app in case you want to check it, at the xml folder you can find the xml files Im loading

Can someone please tell me how I can launch a specific word document from a projector file that I intend to run from CD.

I have a main .exe file that is loading in .swfs and from these swfs I need to be able to load a specific word document.

I have tried a couple of methods, using getURL and hyperlinking dynamic text but this either doesn't work at all, or opens in browser window (varies with different machines). I have also tried using:

filename = "test.doc";
fscommand ("exec", "start " + filename);
fscommand ("exec", "cmd /c "+filename);

but this just did nothing.

So if anyone has an idiot proof explanation i'd be very grateful.

Loading Director 8 Projector File From Within Flash
Hi there I am in the middle of putting together a CD and have run into a problem. I am trying to load a director projector file from within my fscommand full screen swf flash movie. I need a button from with the flash movie to load the director projector (not embedded in a HTML page)

Please note that the flash must load the projector and not a HTML window

I have tried the loadURL command, however no success

I have a couple of web links in my projector file, but when I click on these links they will load up behind my projector file and therefore you dont even know that they have loaded.

Is there any way that I can make these web pages load up on top of my projector file???

Unloading Main Projector And Loading A New One Comman
Hello,

I have projector file that I am working with that I want to Unload itself and load an external exe or swf file (whichever is easier) when a button is clicked on.

I have figured out how to use the FScommand "quit" to close the Exe file, but I want it to load the external Exe or Swf file and don't know how to do that.

Here is some information on the files:

LRC.exe is the main projector file
LibraryLayout.exe (or swf) is the external file I am trying to load

I have tried all these combinations:

#1:

on (release) {
fscommand("exec","LibraryLayout.exe");
fscommand("quit")
}
(this one closes the program, but no exe starts prior to that)

#2:

on (release) {
loadMovie("LibraryLayout.swf",1);

}
(this one only loaded it directly in the main SWF file)

I would very much appreciate if someone could lend some advice to a self taught programmer.

Loading An External Exe Thru A Flash Projector File

I am looking for a solution to loading an executable (Filemaker) underneath a Flash projector file.

Documentation is well described on the following kirupa page:

In my case I work with a full screen projector file. The excutable is
loaded via actionscript in a frame:
fscommand ("exec", "MyFileMaker.exe");

This works fine, but this loads over the projector file.

My problem is that I want to have MyFileMaker.exe
loaded underneath the Flash projector file.
How can this be done?

Finally I close the projector with a button:
on (release) {
fscommand("quit");
}

Has anyone out there experienced the problem of a projector NOT loading external swf files?

I am creating a presentation for both CD and web distribution...when I test it in projector format, the external swfs do NOT load.

Works great as a .swf online and local.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Projector Not Loading External Swfs On Network

I have created a Flash projector file which acts as a "player" for external swfs. In the "player", when a user selects a option from a drop-down menu, it loads the selected external swf, through something like: utarget.loadMovie("/swf/unit6ex.swf"). Where utarget is the target movie in the player. The external swfs are found in the root where the projector file exists in a sub-folder called: swf.

The Dilemma:
If you copy the entire folder to your local drive, this works wonderfully. However, if you copy the folder to a network folder (like on one of your company's network drives), the .exe works, however, it will not load the external swfs.

Question About Loading Movies Into A Projector File.
Okay, I have a cd rom project. I am using a flash executable file.

Now, half way through the presentation, if they click the next button, a new swf file will be loading into level 0....replacing the original one.

Now, if they want to go back...you would assume that I would load the first file into level 0.

BUT. The first file is an executable. Can i just load it in anyway, like it was a swf? Will it work?

Long Time Loading Autorun CD Projector. Suggestions?
I created a presentation for a client, but when I burned it to a CD along with an autorun.inf file, the presentation takes 30 seconds to load. I tried creating a preloader, but it didn't work. I also tried creating a "loading" projector and tried to autorun the two projectors concurrently so that the 30-second "loading" projector would show while the other was loading, but it didn't work that way.

ANY SUGGESTIONS? I need to get this to my client ASAP.

Sound Echo / Stopped When Loading Swf Projector Crashes
Hi... I've developed a flash projector that loads in the _level2 other SWFs with sound at 128K MP3. This projector runs in a CD ROM.

Sometimes, when the user select an option that loads a swf animation, the sound is stopped/paused like an echo ... until the projector is blocked, crashes and the only solution is to restart the projector.

I think that this problem is caused because the CD ROM unit is disabled while the projector don't need to read any file.

I tried running it in my HardDisk and surprise! the projector crashes. It was only one time.

My HardDisk is 80 GB 7200 RPM ATA 100. My CD unit is a DVD-CD R combo.

There are 85 files (swfs) between 300 KB and 1500 KB.

I have a preloader and teh sound is 'stream'

The other files runs OK. The sound is OK. I think that the problem is in the files 400 KB size or more.

What is the solution?
reduce the file size?
is there a command to detect when the projector crashes or is 'blocked'?

[mx2004 Help] Loading Webpages In Front Of A Flash Projector
Hi,
I'm currently building a flash projector (cd-rom portfolio), and am having problems getting html pages to load in front of the projector. Is there anything extra that I should be adding in the getURL command? I ran a getURL search on this site, but none of them seemed to relate to my issue (since most are based around javascript, which would require the main flash file to be an swf embedded in an html file).
Please, pretty please, help me out. It shouldn't be too difficult a solution.

Loading PDFs And EXEs Into Foreground From A Projector File
Hi,

I have just written a flash projector file (my first ever!) and it runs fullscreen. However, when users use it and click on links I have embedded into it to load PDFs or executables (like install shields) on their PC's they load BEHIND the fullscreen projector file so they see nothing happen. However, when I use my OWN PC and click the buttons the PDFs and Exes load into the foreground, in new windows.

Can anyone help me make sure links always load into the foreground? I use the getURL statement to load the PDF's (into explorer) and the FSCommand Exec statement to load the install shields. If anyone can recommended better ways of loading these file types please let me know!

Also, is it safe to assume that all windows users can load projector exe files without requiring any other software - such as the Flash Internet Plugin? I need to know this as I will be creating an AutoRun cd that will launch my projector file.

Loading Flash Windows Projector From Another Flash Windows Projector
I am trying to make the button in my movie load another movie, but I am playing the flash in windows projector, is it posable that you can load a flash windows projector from windows projector, I tried it and had trouble, here is what I had for the action script:

Movie 1 button action script:

on (release) {
loadMovieNum("Movie 2.exe", 0);
}

When I had it as Movie 2.swf it works fine, is it possable to make a .exe to work?

I'm using FSCOMMAND("FULLSCREEN","TRUE") but, I have a link in my projector that opens a webpage. The problem is, it opens up the browser window behind the projector and I can't even see it.

Any idea how I can fix this?

Projector Launching Projector & Email Links On A Mac
Bit of a newbie...

I created a projector file and now been told that I have to link to another projector file that's been supplied to me, I don't have the .fla file for this projector. I've managed to get the other project to open but it has been set to full screen.

Can I control the size of the projector when launching it from mine and also deactivate the menu bar that appears with it. The menu bar doesn't appear if I launch the projector independently but does if lauched from my projector. I would like to scale the linked one by 90%??

Also I have an email link setup which launches my browswer (explorer/safari) before launching my email program (entourage). Is there a way around this, I'm using a Mac but the presentation will be mainly view on a PC, but would like to know how to sort this for both. I'm sure the last time I used flash a couple of years ago it launched the email program without the browser, so it may be me doing it wrong. I'm using the "getURL("mailto:" command.

Any help appreciated.

Load .swf Or Projector In New Window From Another Projector
i am trying to put together a CD with my portfolio... i have the main movie playing from a projector and i want to show some samples of flash movies i have made. is there any way i can load them into a new window rather than having them load into the same window as the main movie?

if not... here is my other problem... one of my movies plays music using:

loop = new sound();
loop.attachSound("loop");
loop.start(0, 100);

the problem is, when i try to load the movie with this music into the existing window on level 1 it will not play the music, but all sounds on the timeline play fine.

any help is appreciated...

Launch Projector From Running Projector
I need to launch a secondary projector from a running projector. I am trying to use the following script and can't determine why it won't work.

fscommand("exec", "sample.exe");
}

I have sample.exe inside a folder called fscommand which is in the same directory as the "master" projector. I don't want to use any browsers to carry out the commands. Any suggestions?
