Flash :: Publish Is Way Slow

Is It Just Me, Or Does Flash Publish A Tad Slow?
I've had this dilemma for years.
I've tried different versions, official Demo versions from the main site, on different computers, and on different browsers, and they all have the same problem.
When publishing to .html, the movie gets slowed a bit. Like maybe by a few frames per second. Which can be devastating sometimes.
So... Is it just me? How do you all deal with this?
If you want proof, make a simple tween, and publish it, and watch both the .swf and the .html on the same screen. The .swf will overtake the .html.

Linkages And Slow Publish Times
What if any relationship do movieClips that have linkages and slow publishing time have in common with one another. My flash movie takes 5+minutes to publish. I have tried rebuilding from scratch and the only thing I see is alot of my movieClips have linkage identifiers.

HELP--publish/test Delay Bringing Me To A Slow Crawl
it takes almost 2-3 minutes to publish this project and test it when it usually takes 10 seconds for projects twice its size. Can anyone tell me what may cause this to happen????

The only thing I changed about this is duplicating a certain scene a few times, I went through and changed all the instance names, all the frame labels because I thought this might be causing it. I really need help on this badly

Large Images / Alfa Tween / Slow Slow Slow... Help Please
I'm working on a site at the moment and one of the main eyecatchers is there is a slideshow-type of animation running in the background the whole time.

There's a dozen (large in pixels, but not in kb) .jpgs that have a minute long fade between images, a few seconds pause and then onto the next fade.

I've tried just making a normal alfa tween, I've tried making the slideshow as a seperate .swf, I've tried dynamic images with .xml, I've even tried making the .fla background transparent and making the slideshow on the html page using javascript.

But all make the site run very slowly. Text scrolling is slow, short rollover animations are slow, etc. etc.

My question is: Is there a way of making a super light alfa tween with large images?

99% of the threads regarding slideshows here at Flashkit have many views but no replies. I need help, and soon. Many many thanx to anyone that can point me in the right (or any) direction.

Publish Preview..it Works. Publish, It Doesn't
The functionality of my movie works fine in "Test Movie" and all "Publish Preview" modes, yet when I publish the movie and load it to my server, it doesn't.

Here's whats going on, I've got three buttons, each with very similar code.

Button one code -
on (release) {
_root.contents.loadMovie("Disturbed.swf");
}

Button two code -
on (release) {
_root.contents.loadMovie("FilterResize.swf");
}

Button three code -
on (release) {
_root.contents.loadMovie("HnOResize.swf");
}

I've got empty MC's on the stage for each corresponding SWF. All three buttons work as desired in the test movie and all publish preview modes, however, when I publish the movie and load it to my server, button three does not work. I've tried it with the empty MC's sitting on their own layer, or all on the same layer I've also tried it with the buttons on the same layer, or on their own layer.

Why would it work fine in the publish preview modes, but not when actually loaded to the server?

More important, how do I fix this?

Can't Do Publish/Publish Setting A Movie In Flash CS3
I installed Flash CS3 while still keeping Flash 8. When I try to publish/publish setting a movie, an alert pops up saying 'No valid HTML Templates are available to complete this operation'.

Probably there was a conflict so I uninstalled both Flash CS3, Flash 8 then installed Flash CS3 but the problem still comes up. What is that?

Publish Preview, Publish Settings...

I have a bar that runs the top of my movie. I noticed that in publish preview the bar is cut in half from the top whilst in test movie I have the whole bar. Is there a way to better match up my movie between the two. In Dreamweaver I can set all boarders to 0 but I would like an accurate view of my movie in Flash publish preview.
All in all I want my Flash document to fit inside a standard browser.
Any ideas?

Publish Many Files With One Publish Profile
Hi all,

I'm using Flash MX 2004 and have a bunch of files to re publish with new publish settings. I created a publish profile and I'm trying to figure out if there is any easy way to have all my files use that profile without going into each one of them and specifying it on their pusblish settings. I try creating a project but I don't think this works for what I want to do. Any ideas?

SLOW SLOW External Text File
Hi,
I have created a .fla that consists of 3 scenes, each of which contains the same scrolling text box that loads the same external text file. The .fla is fairly CPU intensive already, and maybe the addition of the text pushed it over the edge, but when it plays, the text takes a long time to load when switching scenes (the text box appears, but it takes up to 30 seconds to load the text depending on the computer I use), and the scrolling is hit-and-miss.

My questions are:
1) Would it be faster if I hard-coded the text right into the textbox?

2) Should I get rid of the other 2 scenes and put everything into 1 scene?

3) Any suggestions?

Slow...slow...slow Animation
hey guys,
im making an animation to a voiceover.
i want to sync the images with the voice.
it seems everytime i play the movie (i am publishing it as an exe to view because this is to be my final platform), the images play at a different speed.
what is this and how do i fix it?
also, does the way i have put the audio in make any difference to the speed it all plays back at?at the moment ive just got it on its own layer in the timeline.

Now I am building a site in which I like to use a feature only available for Flash Player 7 (MovieClipLoader.onLoadError). I could to without that feature but it would give me a problem to work without it that I can't seem to solve.

So now I have strong doubts:
publish in 6 with more accessiblity, less flash detection screens, less attractive/functional site
publish in 7 with less accessibility, more visitors confrontated with flash detection screens , and a better going site.

I know I must make this decision myself, but I just wondered how you feel about this, and if you think my doubts are legitimate.

By the way, are ther any stats on which player people have installed?

Publish Preview As Flash VS Publish Preview As Html
Ive made a movie that add strings from several input text fields to an array. This array is sent from the flash video to php.
This is working fine when I preview the movie as Flash. The php script prints the variables as intended.

But when I preview it as html the arrays are all empty...
Can anyone tell me why?

Publish To QT
OK, I've got this Flash flick that isn't that complex. I've got an mp3 sound file that runs throughout (I've modified the envelope to drop the sound), several flash layers with animation and 3 embedded QT movies. They are not that big. One is 1 minutes long, the other two less than 20 sec.

No matter how I publish this file as QT (standalone or linked) no one on any other Mac in our office can see the QT movies.

Any advice???!?!?

Ok, i knew flash a few months ago. I started with graphics, then buttons and finally some movies. And Voilá: I even created my own site. Now, can anyone tell me how to publish this dam thing in the Internet. At the beggining of ages i used to use FrontPage to create and publish some web sites. That was much easier to publish because it had a publish button that go directly to the browser.

I´de like to know how to do it in flash, or if i have to use some other program.

Can't Publish
Publish command won't work. Message :

"Error creating Flash Player movie file. Be sure the destination file is not locked or on a locked drive. Also, check that the file name is not too long. Access to (name of folder) was denied."

Using an eMac with 1 GB of RAM and 55 MB allocated to Flash 4.0a. OS 9.2.2. File Sharing is on. Tried changing name of movie and using default name.
Trying to place movie in GoLive site.
EXPORT command works OK and places fine in GoLive. Looks good in Internet Explorer and Netscape Communicator. Does this mean I can expect the same success once the site goes online or do I need the HTML file created with the Publish command?

Publish On A CD
Hi all,
I want to create a swf movie and burn it on a cd adding an autorun file so that it plays as soon as the user places the cd on the reader.

I guess I have to publish the movie as swf and then create the autorun file as an .info file. But I have two questions:

1-How can I burn the swf and info files onto the cd?
2-How can I do it to make the cd visible for anyone without worring on wether they have the Flash player or not?

hello,I need help!

When I see this swf file, everything is working proparly but when I load this scene from different scene ( I tested both `getURL` and `loadMovie`), this scene is working extreamly slow as if the computer run our of its memory. Does anybody know why this is happening? and how I can get around this problem?

When you publish a .swf file, you can change if you want to publish it as a Flash Player 6, 5, 4 etc file. But why not just publish it as a Flash Player 1 file so that everyone can see it? Are there any disadvantages of publishing it as a Flash Player 1 file? Thx.

How Come When I Publish....
when i test my fla (cntrl + enter) i see my entire movie clip....
but when i publish it and view it it cuts the "margins" down and both sides get cut off?

i've messed around with the scene size (550 X 400) but that's not it?

am i missing something?

Most of my flash site is done but I need help to publish it. All web pages are different swf files and I want the site to fit 100% fully on any browser screen and not just the size of the swf file itself. I have FrontPage and Dreamweaver for html. But I never used any of then before. Only flash MX. Can you help?

When I look at the movie I just made on a mac, it plays slow. On OS 9 it is slower then OS X, but they are both slow. My scroll bar does not work, and the text loses it format. The movie plays perfectly on a PC. Any Ideas? Also, when I play the *.swf on the Mac, it plays in Quicktime...???

Sorry if this has been covered before but I need help quick.

Is there a way to tell flash to exclude everything not on the stage when the swf is made? I am trying to send an swf to a client for review but when I have him open it in explorer and he drags the window bigger he can see all of the stuff that was outside of the work area. I need to have the swf just have what was intended to be seen. Does this make sense?

Because Of MC Can't Publish
Is it possible to put to much into one MC and cause flash not to publish?
I'm having that problem now. After I created this one MC flash takes forever to publish. But when I take it out it does. When I copy and paste frames into a blank document with that MC in it, it takes forever to publish again! It's as if it gets stuck in the middle of the publishing stream.

When To Publish Using 100%
When publishing I know that the accepted method is to use “Match Movie” & set the movie dimensions to around 750 x 600, from what I can understand this is all to do with making sure dynamic text shows up cleanly & any jpegs use do not distort if the movie blows up to big. However….
If you are not using dynamic txt & the jpegs you put in the movie are of a far larger dimension than needed, so say you use an original peg bought into the movie @ 600pixels & shrunk down to 200 while authoring – If that image is whacked up twice as large in the browser it will still only be at 400.

In other words is using 100% always a total no, no except when a movie contains only static text & no bitmaps or could I use it as above?

Can't Publish
Hi

I have created a Flash presentation. I have created one fla file with several scenes in it. Each Scene has frames imported to it from other fla files.

When i try to export the file to SWF or just try to Test the movie (Ctrl+Enter) the software goes through the motions of exporting the movie but doesn't produce anything, SWF or Test.

I can test each scene within the movie fine, but thats it.

Does anyone have any ideas why this is so?

i have a fla file which is hardly 1 mb.
why the heck is it taking so long to publish?..it is taking around 15-20 mins.
it has 5-6 scenes but before i had done same thing with fla file size around 2 mb but it did not take so long.
any idea why is it happening?

Hi,

I am new to Flash. I'm creating a power point type presentation with Flash because PP didn't have the capabilities and features I needed. I'll then be publishing it on cd's. Is there any way to automatically install the Flash player when someone runs the cd? Any suggestions or alternative methods are welcome.

Help Can't Publish
When I go to publish my page I get an error message-

Couldn't complete the operation because there was not enough stack space.

I know this has to do with ram.
But the thing is I can preview my page in flash.
The size of the file is 2.9 M- really not that big.
I'm running OSX with 768 ram

Can anyone help me with this one.
There has to be a work around or maybe I'm just doing something wrong

i mean i usually load my swf to the server and everything works fine.. but what does publishing it do?

I have been using flashmx now for several months.
Designing sites and up loading them to the net.
However, i have never used the publish facility. I copy the swf's into frontpage and upload from there and had no problems.
However, the more forums and links i read tell me i should publish the html file along with the swf's.
Can someone please tell me why?
