Flash :: Publishing Flash Intro

Publishing Science - Please Clear The Muddy Waters Of Publishing Best Practise
Having been working with Flash now for a few years there is still something that I find unfathomable & hopefully a clear concise reply to this will help me & maybe others.

Question.

What is the best way to publish Flash?

I have always used the percent setting (100%) & made sure that any jpegs I used would be of a quality that will scale up well. I say scale up I use a pretty big monitor I imagine (hope) that if they have to be scaled down they will not look too c**p.

To me there seems to be this elite science among some of the more experienced developers as to how they publish movies. I know the methods of the stage object can come into play such as _width etc., but how the hell do you accommodate all the components of a movie to work out there size & where they should then sit in a browser window? I have checked out other forums posts & articles on this but there seems to a lot of conflicting information.

I have successfully used & understood the swfObject & also have a good handle on HTML having started off programming with that. My best bet is that a movie is published within an HTML frame/table set & the setting of both are tweaked some how. I'm I on the right track & if so what is the current size of browser that I should be looking to publish to?

FMX 2004 Intro - Why The Full Intro Is Not Coming

Publishing Multiple Pngs Or Publishing Movie So It Can Be Imported To Movie Maker.
So I want to enter the Neovision Altador Cup III Contest: "Ready for Fun". I have my animation done in flash, but need to be able to get it into one of the acceptable formats.

.mov, .qt, .mpeg2, .mpeg4, .mpeg, .avi, .wmv, .3gp, and .3gpp

I thought the easiest way would to some how import it into windows movie maker. There I could add sound and compress it into one of the acceptable file formats. Does anyone know how to change swfs or publish movies in a way that could be imported into windows movie maker or to one of the acceptable submission formats.

I have also found that I can publish pngs and import them into windows movie maker. But I can only do one frame in the time line at a time. Seeing as I have probably 800+ frames, is there a faster way to do this?

Flash Intro Or No Flash Intro
This has been bothering me for some time now and I just wanted to see what others think on this issue.

Personally, I think a flash animation intro is a great way to "stall" visitors while the main site is being loaded.

However, it seems like more and more people put in a flash intro to be "cool" or to show off what they can do with flash. Often, the animation has NOTHING to do with the main site at all (for example, a flash intro + main html site). Not only this will increase the load time for a visitor but this may "annoy" the visitor especially if s/he was not at all interested in the animation.

Often, I just click on the skip intro when I'm in situation like that.

I just wanted to point this out for new flash users to try to not overuse "flash" and try to use "flash" when it "helps" the site but not to "show off your flash ability".

My FLASH 6.0 Intro In A POP UP?
I know this is an actionscript forum, but i was wondering if anyone knew where i could find a way to make my Intro pop up in a window that is the exact size of the swf.

My window size would need to fit an animation 700X405

i have created a flash introduction and I am having a very odd problem. When i view the introduction in flash mx itself, it runs fine and the music goes along with the intro. It also works fine for my flash player. But for some reason, when i view it on a webpage, not even uploaded to my website, the animation seems to go slow and so the music gets ahead and it makes the intro look god awful. Can anyone tell me why this is doing this? It's aggrevating to spend so much time on something, then you cant even let people see it. ARRGGGG

I am looking to make a flash intro site for my company. I was wondering if you guys could recommend any software to do so. I know basic flash but nothing where I can make a serious looking intro. Do they actually use Flash MX to make those intros?? It would take me forver to make something serious....I couldn't imagine doing it layer by layer and each movement. I have a question amd I've spent two days trying to solves this and I'm not sure what to do as this is my first time using Flash MX. I guess I have to describe what happens

I have a text that fades in & out, followed by another- This is working
After the second text fades out I have a picture of the State of Georgia that fades in- here is the problem

I want the picture of GA to stay on the screen and have a soccer ball start from the upper right corner to to the middle of the GA picture. Now I have used a motion tween and can get that to work. What happens is the GA picture disappears and them the soccer ball is left to move to the middle of the screen.

How do I keep the GA picture on the screen? I put a stop(); statement at the end of the GA picture fade, but then that stops the whole process, the soccer ball then never moves.

I know this may be a bit confusing, but can anyone help me?

Hi Folks

I am creating an intro page in FlashMX and I have 3 separate movies [swf files].

I will prefer to have flash load movie 2 and 3 from external files into flash on the timeline when I want them to appear in the movie.

The first movie will dissapear when the second one loads, the second one will dissapear when the third one loads and then stop giving the user a link to click on.

I searched the site and could not find the information or maybe overlooked it.

Help With Flash Intro
Hello, I need some help with my flash intro and some pointers or ideas would be greatfully helpful and appreciated. I am doing a website for a band and am just starting out with flash.

So far I have taken one of their song and created a couple different scenes that all have animation in them. The scences are synced up with the song, ect.

My first problem is that each time there is a new scene the song begins to play again, but the first time its not done playing, thus resulting in multiple sound files being played at once at the end of the flash document.

Second, I don't know how to get the background color off of some of the symbols, such as the gypsy moth.

A few years ago a friend of mine made this for a presentation we did. I know he used a template, but im not sure where he found it. I believe on Flashkit. If you have seen anything like it please let me know. Also, I am doing a presentation on Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease and need a professional looking intro for my power point. I'm not quite sure what the best search term is under movies. I keep coming up with stuff that looks less than professional.

How Was This Flash Intro Done?
Hello, I'm new to the flashkit forums, and flash itself as well. However I'm trying to learn, as I am working on a website, and would like to integrate a flash intro into it. [F8] Flash Intro Help
I have a flash intro which is using actionscript. The file is a just a dark background with the words Novocane, Irelands Newest and Freshest, Community Site coming into the screen from the left and then exiting to the right. My first text (Novocane) comes in fine and then Irelands Newest and Freshest comes in fine but then that just loops over and over. I have the file hosted here. Help With Flash Intro
Hello everyone,
I know this would be an easy project for a lot of people here, but I am really struggling to get it right.
The intro was originally created by my client as a PPT doc and I followed a tutorial to get the files as .wmf and then brought the files into Flash.

What I am basically after is, the flash is "centered" on the intro page, the little stars flash then the "enter" fades in and is a clickable link to the home page, simple?
When you look into the file you will see a mess with the actual size of the stage etc.
I want the graphic and page to be a standard web page size, at the moment it's all over the shop.
Any help would be appreciated. cheers

I have created a flash intro for my church's web site template. How do I get the intro.swf file to go the first page of the web site once it is done playing? How do in add that command int the .fla file?

[CS3] Flash Intro
I seem to have lost my first post, so here goes:
I have a flash intro created by importing a video onto the stage. I want the intro to automatically go to my site's first page (named index1.html) without having to use a button (enter site) That is how it is working now. the fla shows up as one frame in the timeline and there is no code attached that I can find. here is the site: www.hbc-collegesingers.com
When I publish the file I do not see anywherte in the publish settings where I can tell it to automatically go to the index1 page, nor do I see a place in code of the index.html where I could use either getURL or navigatetoURL

[CS3] Flash Intro
I created a flash intro by importing a video file onjto the stage. It shows up as one frame. I published the fla and uploaded it to my website as index.html I want it to automatically go to my original index page now titles index1.html. I can do that with a button hyperlinled to that page, but can't figure out how to do it automatically when the flash movie finishes.

I am a C coder by nature and I have to admit this actionscript stuff confuses the hell outa me lol

Im trying to make a basic flash intro page for a friend and ive created the button and everything, and I want to make it so when it is clicked the browser leaves the flash page and loads up index1.html.

Im using Macromedia Flash MX

I uploaded a Flash intro to my site in HTML format, but it will not play when i go to my site.
the animation played fine when i tested it in Flash, but when I uploaded it, it would not play in Firefox or IE.

why might this be happening?
I didn't see any pop-ups in IE regarding ActiveX controls or anything like that...and that issue never comes up in Firefox anyway so i'm confused...

How do I get my flash intro page to load before my homepage and then how do I link it so it loads itself afterwards?

And

Question about progressive video.
I have converted to fla, and placed it on my webpage but it's not previewing And did not play on the web. Do I need some sore of action script for this? If so, do you know of one? And/Or what steps do I need to take to resolve this issue?
I'm using Flash 8.

Publishing Flash Intro

Ok, I have got everything working on my flash intro as far as the movie goes. Now what I need to do is publish it as an intro. I have tried using onLoad on my index.html page but that loads the flash after the main page. Is there another, better way, to get the flash to load before the index page?
