[F8] SWF Reading Variable From Webpage?
Hello,

I have a swf embedded on every page of my website that consists of 8 pictures in a slideshow, each time a user navigates to a different page this swf plays the pictures in random order.

Is it possible to embed something in the HTML code of my index.html that the SWF can read and as a result play one of the pictures first everytime?

I am hoping to have one certain picture play first on the index, and then continue on with the random order after that picture is displayed, and I do not want to create a separate SWF just for the index page.

Reading Current Webpage - Load Variable
I'm trying to devise a script that can read the page from which the swf is being loaded from...

So for example if i had a flash avatar or a flash signature on this page... it would be able to read data from this page. However the issue is that i will not have the current adress of the flash placeholder and it is often PHP generated.

IS there some way of doing this? I'm basically trying to get a certain session id from the html generated by the PHP where the current flash file is embedded.

Any help would be appreciated.

Embed A Webpage.... CGI Webpage Into Flash
Hey...

Pretty much what I would like to do is have a specific URL show in a flash movie. Thats it, nothing else... The main purpose for this is to show my current ebay auctions.

The page I would like to show is a CGI page just like:

Im not sure how to do this, Ive heard that you cannot just embed any website into flash and that you have to turn it into an xml thread but like i said i have no idea.

Help Trying To Link One Webpage (symbol) To Another Webpage (symbol)
I bought a flash template for a website I am creating and have basically figured out how to do everything thus far, except how to link one page to another. Each page of the website is a symbol within the flash movie. The template has 4 main pages (symbols) that when you click on one of the menu items across the top, you go to one of these pages.

So I created a copy of one of the symbols and modified the text on it to be a new page. I am trying to create a "hyperlink" from within one of the pages, so it then goes to my new page I created.

I have created the button around the text I want to be active and now completely stuck on the code necessary to call up this new page (symbol copy).

I have looked everywhere and really can't find exactly how to do it. Any assistance on this is GREATLY appreciated!!

My Webpage Needs Help. Can You Look At It/
I made this website several months ago and put it away because I got burned out on it. I am now re-analyzing what needs to be fixed. Could you flash experts check it out and tell me what you think? The download times under some of the sections are too long and they just hang there without anything happening. I guess I need some cool preloaders. All the different catagories are imported swf files and have preloaders at the beginning. Can I add other preloaders during those imported swf files say when someone hits a button to download an image? (i am referring to the Eichler Publications section as one example).

Ok fellaz... I just started out learning flash like yesterday, and I spent two hours today creating my first flash. it's only 60 frames, but it's kick ass... anyway, to my question... how do I get it on my website? I can't seem to get it set up to where I can view it w/o going into the actual flash program. Help Plz

I have been following some toturials and some books (flash studio). I know now the basic of Flash and want's to make a webpage. But do any og you have a toturial about how to put alle the effects, buttens, menues etc. together into a homepage?

Help With My Webpage
Ive been making a webpage recently and I don't know anything about flash on the internet.. I would like to know some things. If I wanted a menu that takes you to the different to be 1 thing like a movie clip on each page, what would i do? Would I make the layout for my page as a movie clip or graphic and then put the buttons to each section within it? I've tried a bunch of ways but it didn't turn out well.

Hello, I've just put up my first webpage but I think i've done a few things wrong. The site is www.spatialplayground.com it's made up of about 6 scenes but takes a long time to load on a slow computer so I think I need to split up the scenes. The problem is if i do split up all the scenes how do I link them all up ? Do i need to use a load movieclip action ? If anyone could help me out that would be great.

Swf On Webpage...
i made a banner add sized(400*70pxl) swf for my highschool homepage. It came out nicely but the website mannagor is concerned about what is outside of the 400*70pixels showing. I know this sounds confusing but i can give you an example:

what the site mannagor is concerned about is this:

I Need Some Help With Webpage.
Can any of you help me?

I'm making a page for a website with lockers that when you huvver the mouse icon over it the locker opens. I have all that done and working but when I try to put a link in the locker when you put the mouse icon over the locker it will open but when you get over the link it starts to open and close really fast. I was wondering if anyone can help me solve this problem?

What could be a script that could return webpage URL (not flash movie URL)to movie for playing some frame?

As I understand this function returns only the URL of the movie, so it goes to frame 1.

How to retrieve the webpage URL that is loaded on the browser?

Forgive my terminology for lack of how to describe what I want to do. I want to build a flash website. I have seen these on the net on here listed as a Flash interface. Ex. instead of an HTML site I want my design to be flash with menus, an intro page, etc. Is there a tutorial I can access on here or somewhere else on the net? About Using Flash In A Webpage
this is kind of a dumb question, should of posted it on Newbies.... so far all the Flash movies i made were exported to AVI then incorperated with a game iam making using a game maker thing

anyway....how would i have a flash movie play in a webpage..

such as you go to www.MyMovieForFlash.com thenthe move starts to play... what size should the movie be, also is it possible? then have a button that links to the main page..? and one more thing...anyone know if sites like Geocites can have 3meg flash things on there pages?

A Controller For A Webpage
Hi guys , TY for past help on my e-photo album. I am in middle of new project here and well im not sure if this is rite place i can post this question but i have used several Flash MX forum and not been able to get any help , My project that i am working on, well i created an what we will call my TV Remote, It is a 4 button with window on top of those buttons to display button name ( if u would like to see it i posted it here http://www.stitches2remember.com/cbul7210.htm , It is at bottom of page) well i need this object to stay together and be able to be moved around page using the OnDrag command, I have tried creating it as a symbol but i loose adjustability and cannot set the buttons to display proper portion of the page , i found same thing if i was to create it and use it as part of a Loadmovie command , i also have tried to just copy and paste the frames and group them but some reason it looses the buttons ability to dispay in its window, any clue on how i can go about creating this object to do what i am looking for ? also any comments on my artwork on site i mentoned above is also appricated Cbul7210

Music In Webpage
Ok here is the problem. I have a no-frame website with a flash button to enable and disable music. Everything work fine but of course every time I change page, the music start again from the begining. Anybody have an idea if it's possible to keep it going without having to add a frame ?

Loading .swf In A Webpage
Im doing some project on led zeppelin and i did a intro for it, the intro contains a movie file and i cant get the preloader to load the whole movie, it does a little portion.

This is what i did:

made a scene for the preloader and for the movie

for the preloader there is 2 frames with action script and a lil animation

The 1st frame is:

The 2nd Frame is:

I'm new to Flash so i'm not sure if this is easy to do or not.
I was wondering if it is possible for a webpage to display within a swf. I have been messing around in Flash and created quite a few menu's for web pages but for the type of style i want for many of them i need for the webpage to display in the actuall Flash file.

Clicking From 1 Webpage 2 Another...
I am currently using the loadmovienum actionscript to move from one webpage to another. I have a toolbar for navigating around the pages. How can I tell the toolbar to unload itself? I have also noticed if I go from the mainpage to a subpage, then attempt to go to another subpage...you can briefly see the previous page. How do I get rid of this? I was also wondering how to do transitions?

Centering On The Webpage?
I'm still new to this board and not sure which topic to put what in. Am I a NEWBIE (till when)? Does it belong in GENERAL HELP? I have FLASH MX (another topic) which seems different in little ways (in tutorials) and I have to ask or hunt around to see where it is in mine.

GENERAL seems to cover it all.

I've been making websites for around 4 years, but new to FLASH. When I publish- upload the webpages with the flash they are on the bottom left of the page.

I tried putting <CENTER> tag on the page above the flash coding but it didn't work. Didn't seem to do anything.

It comes up as a page in the html editor (COFFEE CUP) written right under the BODY tag, and I don't see any way to make it centered an higher up on the page.

I've also uploaded it to a website using ftp, and not first opening it in the editor, since it's already an html page.

All the practice ones I've made have been like this.

My first button. It said to write something or change it when the mouse was on it. Next time I'll write CLICK on it to start and change the color or something. I made it super big on purpose, figured it would help.

Hey, I'm trying to make a flash based webpage and i've noticed that when I go to another webpage (play movie) that the previous webpage is still playing in the background. Its not suppose to be noticeable, its only noticeable now because i've got the screen size bigger than its suppose to be. How can I unload a movie/webpage?

Stretch The Swf In The Webpage
I have created a simple animation of size 400 x 300. And embed that flash swf in the webpage.

I want when anyone open the website the animation stretches itself in thewebpage according to the size of the visitor resolution. I dont want as full screen without any navigation bars, icons or controls.

Please tell me is this possible if yes, how?.

Looks Of Webpage On Different Monitors
I was wondering how to get my site to look the same on all resolutions and monitors. If I view my site on 17in 1024x768 the site looks fine, anything smaller and items like text seem to merge together. On anything larger than 1024x768 its fine..

Any ideas what I can do.. I am sure I am doing something wrong with the publishing but not sure.

Updating A SWF Via A Webpage.
I run a website that is all in flash on an html page. The person I make it for it on AOL. When I update the SWF file and then upload it, he doesn't see a difference in the page. The only way for him to notice is if I rename the swf file and also the html page to look up the new file.

It is working and everything is ok, but I was just wondering if there was a way for him to redownload the swf when it's different, for if I keep having all these people download a new swf file each time I update it, I would feel kinda bad. I think it's something to do with the cookies or how it accesses the swf, but I don't know. Any ideas are nice.

Flash Ads Over Webpage
Can anyone point me towards a tutorial that shows how to build these new flash ads that are popping up that open over the webpage and you have to close by pressing a button. Even this site has one. Another example is the ones that are a typical banner ad but when you hover over them they extend downward. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks much.
