Flash :: Room Creation

Flash Zoom Effect From Room To Room?
I want to make flash create a zoom effect from one room to another. In other words, I want the zoom to go from outside a building, into the door, down a hallway, into another room. Can this be done by just creating several graphic images and put the zoom blur on it and import them as graphics? Would it take more space up if I just tweened one graphic upwards? Either way I see a deterioration of the graphic image. How can I increase the size of the image without destroying the integrity of the photo's pixels?

Card Game (turn-based) - Lobby Room And Game Room, Maintain State
Hi all, I´m new in this forum, since now i appreciate for any help.

I´m developing a turn-based card game in Flash 8 (multiplayer), using the concepts of lobby and room. In this case when the user login de game, he always see the lobby, where he can choice the games, then the user selects a game in a dataGrid and enter the game.

Inside the game (that resides in another frame in my .fla), there is a button that when clicked brings de users to the main lobby ( gotoAndStop(“lobby”) ) so that the user can visualize the lobby with the game running in background with the others users.
The problem is when the user return to the game ( gotoAndStop(“game”) ), the images, cards, players name and chat history text disappear, all the game object disappear, remaining only the original graphics (movie clips) to the game room.
In fact, I need a solution to maintain the state of the game when the user decide to visualize the lobby (with the game running) and after return to the game.

How To Mix AS Element Creation And Direct Creation From Flash GUI
Hello,

i'm pretty new to flash but i have a decent level of c++, when i create a flash doc , i put evrything in a separated Main.as file
and i create all elements "programaticly" like:
attachMovie("TextArea", "m_text", 0);
m_text._x = 10;
m_text._y = 100;
m_text.setSize(400,200);
m_text._visible = false;
but this is very slow as i have manualy set all the coordinates of all elements , their size etc .
What i would love is to be able to :
drop a text area in some frame , resize it and make it nice set all its 'visual propreitys'
then when i attach the movie from my Main.as it inherit all visual propreitys.

I'm realy happy of my approch to put evrything in Main.as i want to avoid at any cost going and hiding
ActionScript all over fla frames, so i just need to solve this and my live will be c++ again :)

to set fullscreen on a CD-ROOM that i'm doing, i'm using :

fscommand("FullScreen", "True");
fscommand("AllowScale", "True");

There is anyway to set this not to "show all" but 100% ???

Pan Across Room
Hi

I am trying to create an interface that shows the inside of a room. I want the user to be able to move the mouse over the room and the room will pan left and right or up and down to show other areas of the room.

I have created an image that is bigger than the stage and placed a mask on the stage so that a section of the room shows through. I have managed to get the room to follow the movement of the mouse but if I leave the mouse in one direction then the whole room image keeps on scrolling and eventually it moves across the stage and out of sight.

I need to know how to restrict the room image movement so that it stops following the mouse direction once the edges of the room reach the edge of the mask.

Im trying to do a flash site which is to show diferent paint and i would like to create a room painter so the viewer can paint a room how they want it to see what the colours would look like on walls and floors etc.....

I thought the easiest way of doing it would just be to have colours on different layers and turn them on and off but there are neerly 300 colours which i dont have the time scale to do also i wanna use the same colours and apply them to diferent room plans

any ideas how i could do this........?

Also does anyone know any sites that have "room painters" i can look at and see how others may have done it

Design Your Own Room
Are there any applications out there in which the user interacts with graphical elements? Something that allows a user to select a product. In my clients case interior finish products (e.g., carpet, fabric), put them onto a white board, and then manipulate the objects - e.g., dynamically change the size of the swatch, layer products on top of others, add text, etc.

Something like 'design your own room' kind of style. I am sure there must be something in that direction allready?!

I have a scroll movie that has some buttons...alright..alot of buttons. I need to add some more but the area (window) whatever you call it, is out of room. It will not allow me to scroll over more to add more buttons. Any ideas on this one ?

Hi there. I need to know if there is a way to have a scrolling effect on photos that gives the impression of a 360 view of a room (or most of the room). PLEASE HELP .php Chat Room
I have set up a chat room with PHP and its not working. It works fine when its on the main timeline, but when I put it inside a MC thats inside a MC it doesen't post the messages. It writes the message in the .txt file fine, but it doesn't post it in the Flash dynamic text where all of the posts go. ARG!!!!!

In another words, how do I set up a chat room that was originally set up to for the _root level (main timeline). Here is the PHP script that is suppose to load the .txt info.:

**UTTER NEWBIE QUESTION ALERT**

Hi, as a complete newbie I have unrealistic expectations of what I would like to achieve but here's my aim anyway;

I would like to create an interactive 3d room. Not real 3d, more like the pre-rendered point and click style used "escape the room" style games, Crimson Room being the perfect example.

I would like to be able to zoom in/pan around the room in the same way.

Interactivity wise I want to be able to open drawers, books and cupboards etc with keys found within the room and kept in a simple inventory, no combination of items needed.

I've hunted around for tutorials and found a few;

But no luck on creating a pseudo 3d environment. I assume I will need to render each scene/transition in seperate 3d software but how do I put everything together and are the above tutorials appropriate?

How you can make it so that when you pick up a object (let's say for example a key), and then it disappears? I can make it so that it disappears, but when going to another frame and back to the same, it comes back... I guess you need some actionscript for that. Can anyone help me?

OK, so I've followed a tutorial on how to build a simple chat client, but it's way too basic for what I'm trying to do.

I want to build a chat room that recognizes users profile statisitics and displays them with a profile picture in the corner of the chat box.

Also would like to throw in webcam cababilities.

Does anyone know where I can dig up some advanced tutorials or books for this? All the literature shows how to set up the "simple" chat client.

3d Room Project
Hi guys i am needing some help for a project i am thinking about doing.

would be possible to do this and if anybody has an examples they could give to help me achieve this.

the idea i had was to create a interactive 3d room(something like a lounge) in flash where the user could walkabout go around objects like the furniture and stuff. The user would be able to move closer to objects like the tv and press a button to turn it on or use a remote control maybe in another part of the room to access the tv. i had the ideas of include light switches, books even a radio for the users to interactive with. i have seen this type of stuff done in a flash game program called 'facade' and was wondering if it would be possible to do this and if anybody has an examples they could give to help me achieve this.

any ideas on how i could find out how to create a chat room? i downloaded ElectroServer 3 which will allow me a multiplayer socket but i dont now how to go from there. With the server you can have a example chat which i could use but its very hard to understand, i really need to make it connect to this server so i can have my other parts of the game multiplayer to. any ideas?

Whats the best way to do a chat room in flash?

I have made a chat room the only way I know how but its far from perfect. I submit text to a database when [submit] is pushed and have the flash movie load the text from the database on 10 second intervals.

Obviously this is not the best way to do this as it keeps checking the database every 10 seconds even if there hasn't been a change. It really sucks up my bandwidth

Does antone know any other way this could be done? I don't need a full explanation just a point in the right direction

There used to be a chat room on ultrashock (with little robots you could control) Anyone know how that was done?

As far as i know the flash part is the EZ part, its the CGI that has me a little nervous, and then integrating the two.....is there any resources that I could start to study, or someone willing to provide a quick walk through of the concept? I am brand new to Flash, and I have no idea on how to go about this but I'll try to explain what I'm trying to do. MAKING THE ROOM MOVE?
Hi,

I have seen various animations that have motion tweens that make the room move. Say for example, i was watching those Xiao Xiao animations and he can do like a 360 degree spin with the background. I have emailed people that have done that, and they have all told me it is acheived by motion tweening. i have tried doing that, but it wont work, or give it a 360 look to it. can someone plz help?
